Talus Ridge™ Leather OutDry® Shoe 4 5 5 5
A little Stiff They seem to be a little stiff compared to other leather shoes, but that maybe because I have only worn them a few times. The toe box is nice and roomy giving your toes room to wiggle a bit. May 3, 2013
Not my shoe I didn't like the way this shoe looked on me. Looking down at it, it looked like a typical hiking boot with that rounded, barrel shaped look. It was very stiff, probably because it is waterproof, that material tends to be less flexible. And my heel slipped when I walked. It seemed like it made my feet look bigger. I can't say how it would perform beyond walking around the house. April 19, 2013
Very stiff start I bought these shoes 6 weeks ago and decided to wait to post my review. To explain WHY I bought the shoes, I walk my dog during week for 3 to 4 miles in the mornings. In Portland OR, that requires the shoes are able to handle cold wet mornings. These shoes do just that, but I wasn't sure I liked them at first. They are so stiff when your first get them. They bothered the front of my ankle and just felt small. But after the first week, I realized that they had softened up and were not stiff on my foot. Now I totally love them. They are not the kind of shoes that I would wear for anything other than hiking/walking (not too fashionable), but that isn't why I bought them. I would recommend them to anyone looking for that shoe that acts like a hiking boot. January 19, 2013
Talus Ridge is good for hiking. I found the toe box to be a little snug since I wear orthodics. However, I do believe the toe box will get better as the shoe stretches. I may manually stretch the toe box area to speed up the process. The support and rock cushioning is very good for hiking. A good shoe. September 18, 2012
was a little worried at first. I have never purchased shoes on line. Very leary on how one can get a comfortable shoe without trying it on. I wrote to Columbia. I owned a previous pair of Columbia hiking boots but had purchased a man's size and that was 10 years ago. Given other details they recommended a woman's size 9. I vary between an 81/2 and 9 so I went with their suggestion.I tried them on. They didn't feel right. The tongue seemed to be too long hitting into the bend of my foot. DARN IT! I took them off and ate dinner. I came back to them and put them on again and wore them. Within minutes and variuos household distractions I realized that I had the shoes on and the original discomfort was no longer a discomfort. In fact they felt great! One of the details I failed to mention earlier is that I wear orthotics. I took out the insole and replaced it with my orthotic and all is well that ends well.My use of these hiking boots is not for that reason. I am on my feet all day. The support I get from this light weight boot is exactly what i need. (Also my Dr. said that the support of this boot is exactly what she wants me too have) Thank you Columbia for a great product. They are like the energizer bunny....they go on and on and on. God Bless for keeping upstanding efficacy standards. June 10, 2012
