One of the most appealing aspects to working at Columbia Sportswear in Portland, Oregon is our dedication to balancing the demands of work and life. We play when we’re working and work when we’re playing. One of the designers of the Titanium Ice Dragon Parka you’re wearing trekked across the United States from New York to Oregon on his road bike - just to work at Columbia Sportswear. One of our outerwear product developers was a member of the first ever all-female sailing team in the America’s Cup Challenge. That was the year she took a breather from the IronMan Triathlon.
Every summer we celebrate “Summer in the Suburbs” at Columbia Sportswear. Columbia offers employees various opportunities to get away from their desks and step outside to soak up the warm summer sunshine. Our employees enjoy everything from refreshing ice cream socials to delicious barbecues and music out on the patio.
One of the most popular (and competitive!) summer events is the Columbia Sportswear Volleyball Tournament. Volleyball showdowns take place every week from June to September. For those who aren’t keen on the bump-set-spike, you can test your skills at a little bocce ball or ping-pong.
At Columbia Sportswear, it’s also important that we give back to our community. Many of our employees participate in year-round volunteer opportunities such as SMART, helping young children improve their reading skills, or Summit to Surf, a bike ride to support the American Diabetes Association.
