Rated 5 out of 5 by BEST COAT EVER!!! I had to write this review. It is currently 1 degrees with winds -20 to -30 in Chicago. It is really, really cold outside. I wore my coat today going to work. I took the train and I did not feel the cold. I was very warm and comfortable. I also wore the Omni boots, they where very warm and comfortable. I have lived in Chicago for over 20 years and this is the best coat ever!! This coat can handle this brutal Chicago weather! I recommend this coat the everybody. THANK YOU COLUMBIA FOR MAKING THIS COAT! January 18, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for wintery commute I've only had this product for about a week, but I put it to its first real test on my commute this morning in what the weatherman described as a "squall". I've commuted to work by bus for the past 8 years or so, and after years of miserably braving the elements, finally decided to invest in a good quality, waterproof winter coat. I also wanted a coat that was functional, but stylish enough to wear in any type of outing. Like I said, I've been commuting in this for about a week (mid-January). So far, I find that it's warm enough to stand outside in the slushy rain and snow, but breathable enough that I'm not drenched in sweat while I ride my bus to work. So far, it seems like it really is waterproof and windproof. I am 5'1" and wear a 10-12, and the large fits me great (if not a little big in the shoulders) and hits me right at about the knee. It's a nice snug fit so that no wind is blowing through it, but also flexible enough to easily lift my arms, climb up stairs, etc. Like others have said, I'm not crazy about the velcro on the front closure but it functions well. I've quickly run out the door and just used the velro to close the coat (it's a long zipper and it takes me a while, ok?) It does have lots of nice details that I appreciate- the breast pocket with the opening to slide your headphones through, the puffy collar that blocks cold air and feels like I'm wearing a travel pillow and the little wrist liner thing with a thumb hole. This was a good $100+ more than I typically spend on winter jackets, but it feels worth it if it will actually keep me warm and dry. I'm hoping this will last at least three more winters! Rated 5 out of 5 by Warm coat for commuting in the cold I live in Minneapolis and this coat keeps me warm over a sweater even when waiting for the bus in below freezing temps and wind chill. I usually wear an XS but found that this coat runs a little big, especially in the arms and hips. That said, I'm quite pear shaped (36" hips) and find that the slight bell silhouette is not only flattering, but ensures the coat is comfortable when sitting down on the bus. I don't think sizing would be an issue unless you are very, very slim. Also, the slightly bigger arms allow for sweaters to fit nicely underneath. The zippered pockets and adjustable hood make this coat very functional. At this price point, I do wish that some of the materials were a bit higher quality; for example, I wish that the velcro closures were button snaps and that the arms were lined with a thicker material, like the men's Barlow Pass coat. Despite that one complaint, this coat in gorgeous, well made, and is great for protecting from severe cold and wind chill. I'd highly recommend it, especially if you can get it on sale! Love the lighter tan-grey color, too. January 11, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good winter coat Pros: waterproof, toasty insulation, excellent for bus commuting in windy, rainy, 30-40 degree temps in Seattle winter. Also nicely fitted. Cons: the faux fur on the hood looks like I'm wearing a muppet & tho it's detachable, when removed the brim of the hood sits too far back to shield my face, and I'm not a fan of the Velcro - fine when coat is zipped but catches on clothes when open. Size reference: I'm 5'3" 108 lbs 34/26/35 and the XS fits perfectly. January 9, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love this coat! I have searched far and wide for a coat that has the features I wanted and needed in a winter coat and this one nails it on the head! Its tough to find a long winter coat that is fashionable, warm, not shiny, not "quilted" or puffy, not black/grey, and that has the ability to remove both hood and fur AND has wrist warmers built in with thumb holes so no more cold wrists when donning gloves. I couldn't be happier! January 7, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by A good value for money. I purchased this Jacket for the Chicago winter. So far, It's been very good, but thankfully , the winter so far did not worsen and is relatively warmer compared to the last couple of years. This jacket ,works great for temperature of 20 F and i find it really comfortable to walk with it to get to my work place everyday. The Omni insulation is great, i can really feel my body heat reflected through this material. I do not know yet, how this Jacket would work for even lower temperature, but overall, it is a great buy for the price it comes with. I got a crimson red Small and it fits fairly well ( if not a little big ).I'd recommend this product. January 3, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Almost Perfect I absolutely love this jacket. I walk to work in Chicago and it has kept me warm. The only two complaints that I have is that I wish there were buttons instead of velcro for the outer enclosure which is in addition to the zipper. Also, the zipper seems to be a bit tricky to zip up. December 31, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by A gem of a jacket I bought this jacket for a Scandinavian trip. This jacket far succeeded my expectations. It's warm and comfortable. I backpacked Scandinavia wearing this jacket and was almost too hot-- it was perfect. I've also worn it in the snow while snowmobiling. It did a fabulous job at blocking the wind and insulating me from the wind and snow. I would definitely buy this jacket again. I'm 5'4 and about 125 pounds-- went with a small and it fit perfectly. All my other Columbia gear is a small so I feel as though it was pretty true to size. December 31, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Too tight and long I'm 5'4" and about 115 pounds. I see an interesting divergence in the existing reviews about whether this coat runs large or small, and I think I can guess why. I find that it's tight in the arms but long overall. I got a small because I couldn't imagine wanting armholes any tighter than that, but realized after wearing it out that it's designed for someone who's longer everywhere. The waist sits a little too low, the sleeves are too long, etc. I didn't try on an XS, but I'm guessing it would look better while being more constricting up top. (Unless all the coats are the same length, but different widths -- in which case, it's really only appropriate for someone at least 5'5".) December 25, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very Happy and Warm! First off, I'm 5'8", 138 pds. with 34C/34D chest. The size small fit very well, with only a slight tightness in the chest, which was not bad at all. I liked that it was form-fitting. I have smaller hips but did not really experience the bell shape that some did. (Maybe slightly curvy...but not like a bell.) I bought it in the red and love the color! It kind of changes from a rust to a cranberry red depending on the lighting. Overall I thought it was very flattering. As far as warmth, it is extremely warm! Tested it in 10°F weather and was toasty. I'm sure it will be just as warm at negative temps. This coat is awesome! December 22, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love This! I was looking for a knee length coat that would keep me warm while outside for a couple hours at a time for my job. This coat is great! Wore it the other day while standing outside for work, temp was in the upper 20's and I stayed warm and dry while it was snowing heavily. The coat fit great although it may run a little small depending on how roomy you like your coat. I'm 5'7" and weigh 150 lbs, ordered a medium and think the coat has a nice tailored look to it. Does have a little bit of a bell shape on the bottom but nothing bad. I ordered the kettle gray and think it is a nice color that can look either gray or brown depending on what you're wearing it with. Exactly what I was looking for and my husband really likes how it looks on me! December 21, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best winter coat EVER! !!! Love this coat! !! It's warm & you can move around in it. So functional & I like the style of the coat. I can't say enough good things about this coat, best winer coast over bought EVER! !!! December 19, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Odd Bell Shaped Bottom I really wanted this coat to work, as it was everything I was looking for, but it didn't work out. I'm 5'4" 125lb and got the medium, as sizing says it ran small, it absolutely engulfed me. Not only that but the bottom had an odd bell shape to it, and not one that would work with a womens curves, huge bell. I've decided not to exchange as I'm too afraid it will have the same odd shape. Plus it cost $16.50 to return through UPS so I'm not putting any more money into it. December 18, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great coat but order up!! I really love this coat, though I wish I had ordered a large. The medium fits with a heavy sweater, but i will not be able to layer a vest. 5'1" 120 lbs. If you like a little wiggle & layering room order next size up, better than too small The length is great, I think the cut is attractive. So far warm, but real winter hasn't hit yet. I am not fond of the velcro outside closures, wish they were snaps. So far have worn it in sleet and light snow-low 20's, hope it stay warm when the temps really dip. December 15, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by SHE LOVED IT Got this jacket for some one special and she loved it!!! December 14, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by This Jacket was not for me This coat runs small and the Kettle Gray is more of a weird green. The cut was not flattering on me (I am 5'10, normally wear either an L or XL, but I would not have been able to wear more than one layer under it comfortably.) I saw it on a petite woman in the red and it looked great! December 14, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent coat Excellent winter coat. It really runs small, so I recommend to order a size up. My size is XL and I had to exchange it for 1X. I have not tried it yet, waiting for colder temperatures, but it seems to be very warm. I like the style, it is not bulky and it is confortable. Very good support service with Columbia. Very satisfied with my order and service. December 13, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Coat! The coat is well-made and really warm. However, it's too large for me so I decided to return it. December 13, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love this coat Size up....I'm normally a Large and ordered XL which fits good,,...this coat looks great and the red color is beautiful and it's not a bright red...coat flares out at bottom which I like....can't wait for it to get cold so I can wear my coat....its been seasonably warm in Dec 2015 December 13, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not a great coat I was really looking forward to liking this coat - the vibrant red as shown online seemed unique and the rain protection/down fill combo sounded promising. I ordered both a S and a M, fitting somewhere inbetween, at 5'10'' and 130 lbs. What a disappointment! The red was a deep maroon, really just not a flattering or interesting color at all Very misrepresented on the online image! The small fit too snug, while the medium was too baggy. The sleeves were bulky and the material was too stiff - my arms could barely bend at the elbows. The zipper going up to the face clung at the chest and cut into my chin. Not a bit of softness or give to the material. The reflective dots honesty seem like a scam - I do not believe a bunch of aluminum foil will keep me warmer. Such a cop out! The down insulation was thin and I did not trust it to keep me warm. It was like a super light down coat trapped inside a stiff waterproof shell. The flaring out at the hips wasn't even the biggest issue. Additionally, I had to pay $30 for a return. Definitely do not suggest this coat if you want to feel warm, protected and comfortable. Went with a Patagonia coat (so soft and comfy!) and a $5 CVS poncho instead for sublime rain protection on a stormy day in iceland. December 12, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Winter Coat I live in Iowa and need a warm coat.. And I got it .. I normally wear a large but from reading other reviews I thought I should go to XL and Im so happy I did . Coat fits great.. December 9, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love, love, love this coat It's true that the coat flares out a litte from the waist, but that's helpful in keeping it under your butt when you sit down. It keeps me toasty warm and dry, and yet indoors I don't get too hot. Amazing. My last Columbia coat lasted 20 years so all this new technology is blowing me away. December 9, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love this coat I love this coat! The quality is superb. I really love the fabric. It's only been cold enough to wear it one time but then it was in the teens and snowing. I was very warm and stayed dry. It does bell out a little at the bottom which is disappointing but overall I highly recommend it! December 7, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Warmth with a style I bought this coat in gray two winters ago in medium for snug fit. I got red one this year in small for a slim fit. Red color looks little darker than what it looks in the web. I wear size 6-8 for dress. Only thing i want to reconstruct is the hood without adjusting draw string for the snow storm. It looks classy but litte heavy for the weight. Its construction looks sturdy and durable. I'm sure it will last long time. It surely keeps you warm throughout the long winter in the east coast. December 7, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Average The hood does not cover my whole head, and that is disappointing. I need protection for my head from snow and rain. Also, the interior is lined with a metallic sheen that reminds me of aluminum foil. Why not do a fabric? A light fleece? That said, exterior of the jacket is pretty and functional. Not as warm as advertised. I will wear it until temp drops to 25 degrees. Did I mention how disappointing the hood is? December 5, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Warmish I loved the original Omniheat jackets, but a long jacket was not offered in the early days of Omniheat. Given my winter novice status, I did not understand how important this was. I've waited five years to justify the cost of a new coat and decided to go with the Apres Arson. I love the longer length, but I don't feel like the down filling is as good as my first Columbia jacket. My arms in particular are quite cold on my morning walk to work when the weather dips below freezing. I would still recommend it for the combination of water proofing and down + omniheat. That being said I have not tried the Turbodown. Perhaps that is warmer? Also, this jacket runs a bit small. November 25, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Shape is weird, but will be very warm I got this coat despite concerns about the bell shape mentioned in other reviews. The coat definitely does have that shape, and I'm not a fan. I'm also pretty bottom heavy so it's strange for me to have that problem. However, I'll probably still keep the coat. It seems like it'll be very warm, and I need something that holds up to Cleveland winters. I also really like the red color. Winter is dreary enough as it is, so I like having a brighter option in a coat. For reference, I got a size small and I have a 27 inch waist, 39 inch hips, and 5'7". Fits snug but not tight in waist, large in hips, and hits just above the knee. November 24, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by LOVE LOVE - Warm and Toasty! WARM Coat. Snowed 6 inches in Chicago today and I was comfortably warm for the 45 minutes spent outside watching the kids play with only a a thin t-shirt underneath). Love that it is water and wind proof (thanks to my daughter for testing the water part with several snowballs). For sizing, I am 5'6", normally wear a 12 or large with a 36DD bust and hourglass figure - no tug or pull issues in the bust or bottom. Sleeves were just past the top of my wrist and the length was just to the knee. The coat is contemporary in style (being mid-30s its important that I don't look "old" in it), tailored with back snaps to adjust it inward offering more of an accented waistline which makes it even more flattering to the figure and not awkwardly bulky. Kudos to the design team - pockets are well placed and not tight - love the warm lining and the sleeve/wrist covers with thumb holes - great with gloves! Hood stays up and doesn't obstruct views. Zipper starts just above the knee and has a reverse zip to allow for more leg movement and comfort while driving/sitting. I still need to test it walking long distance/commuting in high wind, though. I bought it to replace my mink (yes, that's what you have to break out in single digits with 30mph wind in Chicago) as a commuter coat as well as to wear for the football games in December. I figure if I was as warm as I was in a T at 35 degrees, a wool or cashmere sweater at 10 degrees or lower should be more than fine. Oh, and this is my first Columbia in 15 years - that bugaboo set is still going strong and well used for sledding/skiing. November 21, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by bad zipper, runs very small but..... Fabric: top drawer. Ruff: love it in winter. Waist tabs: extra love it. But the zipper wouldn't budge from the start, it runs quite small * I'm a 14 and it was tight, and * gasp * it has velcro tabs. I'm returning because of the zipper. But if I'd known it had velcro I wouldn't have chosen it from the start, despite the excellent style. I simply can't bear velcro - the way it sticks on mittens, scarves, my sweaters, etc. All things winter. November 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by First Columbia jacket The jacket is extremely warm and very comfy. It's quite stylish and looks quite different from the others. November 15, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Just got this at the Columbia store Just got this coat & love it!!! I was looking for Chicago-winter warmth with a defined waist. The reviewers who say the hips are TOO generous and "bell" like must be ultra-blessed with man-like figures. If you have standard size 12-14 hourglass curves, you'll love this coat! Plus, the waist-cinched is adjustable so you can bring it in or out to be as curvy hourglass or not as you want. For reference, I'm size 12 Julie pants @ Ann Taylor Loft, size 32 jeans at GAP. I got size XL because I need to be able to fit winter sweaters etc under it. I'm 5'4" and this coat ends just above the knee for me. Last year my thighs were cold waiting the train on the commute, so this should be great. November 12, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Very Awkward Coat I just received this coat today, tried it on, and am immediately returning it. It looks ridiculous. I read the previous reviews about the hip/mid thigh area being a little large and looking somewhat like a bell, but not all of the reviews seemed to find that to be an issue. Trust me: it's an issue. The hip/thigh area is VERY disproportionate to the waist area. To give you an idea (using the medium sized coat), measuring the outside of the coat in inches, the circumference of the waist area is about 35 inches & the circumference of the thigh area is about 47 inches. November 9, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Hot on the Wifey My wife ordered this jacket and looks smokin' hot in it. She wore it to a football game and stayed nice and cozy the entire game. November 8, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Unbelievably Warm Great coat for a VERY cold climate. Too warm for wear I live. I ordered the Flint Gray color. In sunlight it looks like sage green, in the shade it looks more like khaki green/gray. Nice fur around hat. Only problem is the fit is strange. The bust and waist run very small, then it bells out at the hips. Can't imagine anyone being that shape. The sleeves are very fitted and very long. I ordered a Medium, but way to small. I usually wear a 10/12, I am 5'6", 135lbs, 38" bust. Hope this info helps. October 30, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by too small, hood not functional As a lot of other reviewers have said the hood on this jacket has nothing to keep it on if there is any wind. You could wrap a scarf around it, but for this price I would want it to have an adjustable cord or Velcro or something to make it stay put. It also was too small for me. I ordered a size small. I am 5'9" and 125 lbs but this felt very snug and restrictive. I wanted to be able to wear a sweater under this, but there would be no room. I would recommend ordering a size up. I ended up returning this. October 29, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Durable material. Very well made product! October 28, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Down Jacket After reading reviews I was nervous about the hip area being too large. I am 5'5 128 lbs with no hips. When I received it the hip area was a little larger, but nothing that looked crazy bad. I really liked the length which hit me right above the knee and the Gray color is very flattering. October 28, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Very Odd Shape and Runs Small I am 5'5 and 135. I normally would order a small in jackets but I ordered a medium because all the reviews said they ran a little small, and the medium fits perfectly on top. It is just very odd in the hips, it flares out so much at the hips. I was expecting it to be a little more snug but I kid not when I say it flared out a whole foot from my legs in an hourglass shape. I will be returning it even though I love the material and the make of the jacket. October 27, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful Coat When I originally purchased this coat, I went off the measurements provided on the website. I'm 5'6", 120lbs with my bust measurements falling in the XS category and everything else in the medium category. I took the safe bet and ordered a medium. It was huge on me, so I reordered the small. It's still a tad loose, but that's ok. My only complaint with this coat is the double zippers. I makes it kind of difficult to get it zipped up. Other than that, I love it. It goes down to my knees, so I'm looking forward to the extra coverage this winter! October 27, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by My Best Friend!!! I love everything about my coat, I'm sure you will too! I purchase this coat on sell for $195 final cost $202 USD. My boyfriend always have something to say about what I purchase . He was so disappointed when I told him that, I bought a coat online for almost $200 dollars he said I will be disappointed. He was even waiting on the coat so that he could start teasing me, when I showed him the coat, I asked him what he think about it he said "No comment, all I can say is that, your coat looks great, I believe you made a wise choice". I must admit, the reviews were really helpful guys, thanks for helping me purchased a great product! October 25, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Toasty Awesome jacket have the Mighty lite love for fall in WI..always cold so ordered this in Red, more of a rust but will be ok. Will enjoy the wind resistance in January /February ordered Medium 5'3/125 lbs can wear a heavy sweater under as well only request from Columbia need to figure out how too keep the hood up! Happy Winter! October 24, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Warm, but not entirely functional Very warm in 40 degrees, but I start getting cold at 30 degrees if I'm not moving around briskly. FYI: I unfortunately am ALWAYS cold though (5'4" 112lbs). This is snug at the waist (got an XS), but I like that. Seems to flare out at hips, but since I am a pear shape, it works for me (plenty of room). I really like the combination of Omni-tech and Higher Down Fill (650+), because I need Water/Wind protection in Chicago. I got the Red color because they didn't have the Coal/Black color in my size at the store. I usually prefer to blend in with the Black/Grey-wearing crowd of Chicago, but my husband really likes this color. Wishes: - Deeper hood/Adjustable hood (Hood doesn't stay on in the wind, and doesn't cover my entire head when I unzip the ugly faux fur (but thank you for making that part removable!). If I keep this coat, I will likely remove the entire hood.) - Zipper should start at base of coat (It's hard to zip, because you have to fold the coat over where the zipper starts. Extremely hard to zip with gloves on. Zipper currently starts maybe 1/4 of the way up from the bottom. ) - Pit Zips (because let's face it, I can't seem to get warm without sweating a little bit. I enjoy this feature in my other coats) I'm still searching for my warm and functional coat for this winter - this is close to what I need, but not quite there October 17, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect for those who hate to be cold/ wet. The snobs at REI and similar shops told me you can't find any super warm down jacket that is also waterproof because if it's that cold, it won't be raining. In the Pacific Northwest it often does both, alternating all day. We don't get a lot of "dry cold' days. This jacket is great at keeping you warm and dry. You can sit on a wet bench with dry buns. But what I really like is that I don't look like an ugly old fur trapper. It is actually cute on. The red is a dark red that leans more toward blue-red than orange-red. But it's not too bright. Also, the fake fur trim is dark enough that it doesn't wash out your complexion. It also does not contain a lot of gray. To look younger and vibrant, you don't want a lot of gray framing your face. I can't say enough good about this high-tech, good-looking life-saving jacket. Oh, and the inside is a bright metallic color that elicits oohs and ahs. The only bad thing is that the hood needs a scarf or something to hold it on in high winds. October 13, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by The best (and in Red!) I bought this jacket last year for winter in Chicago. I walk to work everyday and needed a jacket that would not make me want to die (or freeze to death) as I walked to work at 5:30 in the morning. This jacket is perfect. It's cute and flattering for a large winter jacket and has a fairly defined waist. It is also cozy and definitely kept me warm. There is enough room underneath to layer, but often I didn't need to layer beyond long sleeves or a light sweater because it was so warm. The length is good (keeps your bottom and thighs warm). And the red is fabulous (I got a bunch of compliments). Zippered lined pockets and thumbholes in the undersleeve for my hands are a nice touch. Only thing to improve is the hood (needs some way to secure it in place to keep it from blowing off; wrapping my scarf around it worked but still). It wore well all winter and still looks almost new despite the snow, salt, and rain. I would buy this jacket again. October 9, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by A sturdy, warm coat I returned this coat because it was a little tight through the waist. It fit perfectly through the shoulders but the snug waist worried me. I really liked the fabric and the fact that it was waterproof. It would have been perfect for those super snowy days when I am using the snow thrower. It provided full coverage and I'm sure it would have been warm. I am 150 lbs, 5'4" and broad shoulders. I got a large and I think the x-large would have been too big. I exchanged it for the Lay 'D' Down Mid Jacket which fits perfectly. September 30, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by The coat I've been searching for, finally! I have been looking for a professional looking, long, warm coat to wear to work during the freezing cold winters here in the Rocky Mountains. I am 5'10", 165lbs, with long arms, slightly wider hips, and usually wear a size 12/L/XL. I originally ordered this coat in an XL due to some reviews indicating that the size runs small, but it was a little bit too big on me. I ordered the L and it fits perfectly. The length is on point, and the coat comes above one inch above my knees. The sleeves are quite long, also, which is a nice surprise since most coats seem to have short sleeves for my long arms. The coat is extremely warm and cozy, and I am impressed with the materials and quality thus far. I like the fur on the hood, but since I bought the item online and it shipped to me in a plastic bag, the fur got quite matted down and looks strange. I'm going to try to "fluff" the fur over the next few weeks to help it to lay nicer. The ONLY complaint I have so far is that the pockets on the sides seem to be about an inch too high for my preference. I feel a little bit awkward when putting my hands in my pockets because it almost feels like my shoulders are shrugged upwards. I think it's just my proportions, maybe, and not the coat's fault?? Otherwise, I really do love this coat so far, and I can't wait to wear it all winter long! September 21, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Chicago Winters I got this as a gift for my first Chicago winter. This coat has lasted two brutal Chicago winters thus far and has kept me VERY warm. The coat at times can keep you too warm. I only use it when it's windy and the temperatures drop below 20 degrees. Otherwise, I get really hot wearing it around. Minor Cons: the hood as everyone has stated is pretty useless. I would have liked it to tie or keep up. The wind knocks it right down. The jacket is also pretty heavy. Wearing it doesn't feel so bad but when you take it off and have to carry it around shopping/running errands, it's very heavy and kind of a pain. September 1, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by nearly perfect I was looking at this coat for a while & decided to purchase it at Thanksgiving while it was on sale. I read the reviews and thought I probably should size up since many of them say fits slightly small. (I am generally a solid 8 with my pants, 130lbs, 5.4) The Large was to big, I was swimming in it.. so I sent it back but had to wait for the Medium to come back in stock (then purchased at full retail amount) So far, I have got many compliments. It seems to be very warm and not let the wind cut through. There are two things that I think could be a little different in the design, that would be to have the neck just a bit shorter, & and to have snaps all the way up instead of Velcro. Otherwise, I am really happy with this coat, I like that the black is more of a dark gray & not quilted like many other down coats. I feel prepared for our harsh MI winters now. January 8, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Toasty warm in the Windy City I am extremely happy with this purchase! All of the features of this coat are true and work well- including the waterproof technology, omni-heat, breathability and comfort cuffs. It keeps me warm during freezing temperatures. I was a little skeptical at first but there is no comparison to just any other coat. The down feels like I'm sitting on a fluffy pillow or cloud :) The only downside is that this coat is not meant for temperatures above 45-50 degrees. I get really hot, but that is obviously why it's a great winter coat not fall. Since Chicago has winter temps for more than half the year I consider this a great investment for years to come. Rated 5 out of 5 by The absolute warmest jacket ever I live in Winnipeg Manitoba and spend a lot of time in Minneapolis. I walk to 25 min to school even when its -40 (and in Winnipeg, it's -40 A LOT). I am never ever cold in this jacket, it is the absolute warmest thing I have ever owned. Like the other reviews said, the hood can fall down in the wind, but I find since I have my face pointing down when it's windy it doesn't happen as often as I thought. And the black is definitely more of a dark grey, but I actually like it because everyone wears black jackets in this style, I've even gotten a lot of compliments on it. It has a sinch in the back around the waist to make you have a little shape instead of being a giant marshmallow. I love this jacket, the quality is incredible, it is so worth the price and I'm glad I bought it. For size reference I got a small and I am 5'8, 120 lbs and it fits as I expected. As a tall girl, it goes to my knees and none of the other 3/4 jackets I tried came close. I even have my boyfriend buying a similar one in mens its so good! December 29, 2014
