Rated 5 out of 5 by A sturdy, warm coat I returned this coat because it was a little tight through the waist. It fit perfectly through the shoulders but the snug waist worried me. I really liked the fabric and the fact that it was waterproof. It would have been perfect for those super snowy days when I am using the snow thrower. It provided full coverage and I'm sure it would have been warm. I am 150 lbs, 5'4" and broad shoulders. I got a large and I think the x-large would have been too big. I exchanged it for the Lay 'D' Down Mid Jacket which fits perfectly. September 30, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by The coat I've been searching for, finally! I have been looking for a professional looking, long, warm coat to wear to work during the freezing cold winters here in the Rocky Mountains. I am 5'10", 165lbs, with long arms, slightly wider hips, and usually wear a size 12/L/XL. I originally ordered this coat in an XL due to some reviews indicating that the size runs small, but it was a little bit too big on me. I ordered the L and it fits perfectly. The length is on point, and the coat comes above one inch above my knees. The sleeves are quite long, also, which is a nice surprise since most coats seem to have short sleeves for my long arms. The coat is extremely warm and cozy, and I am impressed with the materials and quality thus far. I like the fur on the hood, but since I bought the item online and it shipped to me in a plastic bag, the fur got quite matted down and looks strange. I'm going to try to "fluff" the fur over the next few weeks to help it to lay nicer. The ONLY complaint I have so far is that the pockets on the sides seem to be about an inch too high for my preference. I feel a little bit awkward when putting my hands in my pockets because it almost feels like my shoulders are shrugged upwards. I think it's just my proportions, maybe, and not the coat's fault?? Otherwise, I really do love this coat so far, and I can't wait to wear it all winter long! September 21, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Chicago Winters I got this as a gift for my first Chicago winter. This coat has lasted two brutal Chicago winters thus far and has kept me VERY warm. The coat at times can keep you too warm. I only use it when it's windy and the temperatures drop below 20 degrees. Otherwise, I get really hot wearing it around. Minor Cons: the hood as everyone has stated is pretty useless. I would have liked it to tie or keep up. The wind knocks it right down. The jacket is also pretty heavy. Wearing it doesn't feel so bad but when you take it off and have to carry it around shopping/running errands, it's very heavy and kind of a pain. September 1, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by nearly perfect I was looking at this coat for a while & decided to purchase it at Thanksgiving while it was on sale. I read the reviews and thought I probably should size up since many of them say fits slightly small. (I am generally a solid 8 with my pants, 130lbs, 5.4) The Large was to big, I was swimming in it.. so I sent it back but had to wait for the Medium to come back in stock (then purchased at full retail amount) So far, I have got many compliments. It seems to be very warm and not let the wind cut through. There are two things that I think could be a little different in the design, that would be to have the neck just a bit shorter, & and to have snaps all the way up instead of Velcro. Otherwise, I am really happy with this coat, I like that the black is more of a dark gray & not quilted like many other down coats. I feel prepared for our harsh MI winters now. January 8, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Toasty warm in the Windy City I am extremely happy with this purchase! All of the features of this coat are true and work well- including the waterproof technology, omni-heat, breathability and comfort cuffs. It keeps me warm during freezing temperatures. I was a little skeptical at first but there is no comparison to just any other coat. The down feels like I'm sitting on a fluffy pillow or cloud :) The only downside is that this coat is not meant for temperatures above 45-50 degrees. I get really hot, but that is obviously why it's a great winter coat not fall. Since Chicago has winter temps for more than half the year I consider this a great investment for years to come. Rated 5 out of 5 by The absolute warmest jacket ever I live in Winnipeg Manitoba and spend a lot of time in Minneapolis. I walk to 25 min to school even when its -40 (and in Winnipeg, it's -40 A LOT). I am never ever cold in this jacket, it is the absolute warmest thing I have ever owned. Like the other reviews said, the hood can fall down in the wind, but I find since I have my face pointing down when it's windy it doesn't happen as often as I thought. And the black is definitely more of a dark grey, but I actually like it because everyone wears black jackets in this style, I've even gotten a lot of compliments on it. It has a sinch in the back around the waist to make you have a little shape instead of being a giant marshmallow. I love this jacket, the quality is incredible, it is so worth the price and I'm glad I bought it. For size reference I got a small and I am 5'8, 120 lbs and it fits as I expected. As a tall girl, it goes to my knees and none of the other 3/4 jackets I tried came close. I even have my boyfriend buying a similar one in mens its so good! December 29, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very warm :) I have been wearing this coat for a week now and it is very warm. The only problem I have is that I wish it was about 5 inches longer and kept my legs warm. And there is just a little too much fur on the hood. It's the warmest coat I have ever owned, and I'm waiting to really test it out in the minus 25 winter temps. December 23, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Warm jacket...strange shape I haven't put this jacket to the test with bitter cold temps yet but I can definitely tell it will be super warm. The wind will not blow thru like other down jackets due to the waterproof exterior. It's a really nice coat, well made, and the omni heat lining is super warm & insulated. BUT - the shape is very strange. When I put it on my first thought was I look like a bell!! Like the previous review mentioned, if you don't have hips the fit is very strange - it definitely flares out way too much at my hips. It also feels a bit confining - not sure if I could do well wearing this coat, lugging around two small children & doing grocery shopping... It's a big bulky. I'm not sure if I'll be keeping this jacket. I really did a lot of research before finding this one, and when I'm at the bus stop the wind blows thru many of the down jackets I tried - this one I'm sure will be warm. Just looks kind of strange on me so I'm not sure it's worth the $$ then. December 23, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Speechless! I have been living in Chicago for past 15 yrs and hated every single minute and day in winter. The windy days are killer. I felt like hibernating all winter, I tried several outerwear brands except Columbia so far. I am glad I tried, this is my first long coat with a hood, its been 2 months since I have started using this, I have been wearing this on harsh winter days in Chicago, as it keeps me really warm. I thought I could retire my old jacket, but still had it keep it around as when it is 30+ in Chicago, this jacket cannot be worn as it will get you sweating badly. It was totally worth the investment as I dont have cold chills in my back bone and neck anymore, I dont fear Chicago winter anymore. Thank you Columbia, now I just hope this will last forever:). I got the one in grey,as I dont like standing out. I thought the red would be too bright and too much, but I ran into someone with same jacket in red at a mall the other day and I felt it didnt look good. But I like being low key, so grey is still not bad, I would have preferred this even over black. December 23, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Hip region strange - but overall great coat I researched several coats before buying this one. It hasn't been too cold where I live yet so I have only worn it a few times, however I can already tell that it is very warm. Unfortunately, the first thing I noticed about this coat is that it is fitted for someone who has hips. The bottom portion of the coat has extra fabric for where your hips should be. However, I'm fairly tall and thin (5'8" and 135lbs) with a lack of hips, so it looks a bit silly on me. I LOVE the jacket but I can't get over that it looks strange on someone with my body type. I may return it, I haven't decided yet. Overall, I highly recommend it, just know that if you are tall and thin like me, it may look a little funny around the hip area. I did get a medium, so I'm unsure if perhaps the small would be better fitted around the hips. December 19, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Cozy and Comfy in the Cold I would highly recommend this coat especially if you're accustomed to frigid winters. The coat is stylishly fitted and keeps me incredibly warm. My only minor complaint would be the velcro closures because I prefer snap button closures. December 16, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by I really wanted to keep this coat. I absolutely loved the style of the coat and it was very warm. I ordered an XL and was sad that it fit oddly. The sleeves at VERY long and the shoulders were too big. The chest fit a little loose. The bottom of the coat was like a big bell. I went to the store to exchange it for a large and was disappointed because the chest was extremely tight. I'm not sure who these jackets are made for but was really sad so I couldn't keep it. December 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Jacket for the Winter! This jacket is great! Especially in the color red. It fits beautifully...doesn't make you look too bulky and still gives you a nice shape. I bought this during the black friday weekend for 210+tax...great deal! I've worn it a handful of times now in Chicago since I commute into the city for work. This jacket keeps you super warm and even though the hood does not have any strings or buttons to tie it snug around your face I haven't had problems of it blowing off my head. I'm sure once it gets REALLY windy the hat may be an issue...I do wish they added some sort of drawstring or button to make the hat stay put but that's the only downside I can think of with this jacket. Bring on the polar vortex!!! (if anybody is wondering about sizing I am 5'6ish and 160 pounds and the xl fit great with extra room for me to add a sweater underneath and even if I didn't I think the jacket is still flattering especially since it has a little belt at the back to tighten the jacket a bit) December 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by amazingly warm I never write reviews, but I spent so much time researching which coat to buy that I figured I might as well help others. This was definitely the right choice. I wavered between a S and M based on reviews and am very glad I went with the S. I'm 5'4, 124 pounds, and it fits very nicely--lots of room in the shoulders and arms. The waist is somewhat fitted, which I like (still room for a sweater), but someone with different proportions might want to size up. It's a heavy coat but it doesn't feel too stiff or uncomfortable, and it keeps out all weather. December 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Toasty! Overall I am very happy with this coat as it is keeping me warm on my walk to work but isn't too bulky. It does run small! I am 5'5'', 120 lbs and the medium fits me well. It might be a bit tight for someone who is hippy. The jacket falls just above my knees. A thin sweater is comfortable underneath but could not wear a bulky one. I agree with the other reviewers about the hood - it isn't very deep and doesn't stay on well. December 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by So warm!!! This coat is so warm, there is no need for layering! It runs just a little small but since you don't have to layer, its fine. Good length and wore it in the rain and was completely dry, definitely waterproof....Totally worth the price!!! December 8, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Warm Jacket Great jacket! Warm as heck! December 5, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by love love love it i love this coat. im 5ft2 and 125..the medium fits me perfectly. i like the charcoal black color. i do wish the pockets were a little deeper and that there was a drawstring on the hood but those things dont take away from the coat for me. i live in the city and its perfect for walking to work. its great that its waterproof and it keeps me so warm(and im one of those always cold ppl) i would 100% recommend this coat. i have loved showing it off to friends and family and they are all jealous!!! December 4, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Almost perfect This coat is great! Super warm, breathable, and comfy! I wear it to run errands, walk around the city, commute to work, etc. Its a great everyday coat. I have a size Small, and it fits great. I am about 5'6, 34D/36C, and about 125 lbs It keeps me warm while waiting outside for the bus/ walking to work, but also breathes, so I don't sweat to death on my morning commute; regardless of what I am wearing! I've worn a short sleeve silk top on, and was still warm and toasty, and I've also worn thick sweaters/ lots of layers, and wasn't too hot! (which is HUGE!!!) Nothing worse than the usual winter cycle of freezing outside, then sweating once you're on the bus, then freezing when you're back outside, then sweating again when you walk into the office. I love the comfort cuffs! And they are great/comfortable even if you don't put your thumbs through the thumb holes. There is one problem I have found, and that is with the hood. I wish the hood has a drawstring or some way to keep it tight on your head. I've had a few times where it doesn't stay up. (even with earmuffs on) It happens when I walk into strong winds, (or I'm walking near one of the wind tunnels between the buildings)..regardless, it's annoying to have to stop and pull your hood back up to have it blow off again. When it gets cold out/windier come later this Winter, I am going to try and wrap my scarf around the outside of the of the hood and hope that does the trick! (fingers crossed) :) The only other minor thing I've noticed is that the bottom zipper sometimes unzips (an inch or so) when I walk a lot... but that's more or less me nitpicking. Over all, this coat is great! Warm, Breathable, cute and comfy!I get compliments on it every time I wear it! If you're looking for a good winter coat that will keep you warm regardless of the temperature outside, and regardless of what you have on underneath it, I recommend this one. December 4, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome coat! Loved it! It fits great! Your body looks good with this coat instead of those puffy ones. It keeps me warm. The water resistance is 100%.. I've used it with rain already! I recommend this 100%... only thing I didn't like that after I bought it.. hasn't even been 3 weeks and they lowered the price by a lot! ;( Good for everyone else whose trying to buy it! Rated 4 out of 5 by Practical Very warm! little snug in the hip region but other than that I love it! November 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love from MN This coat had kept me extremely warm. It's beautiful- a great mix of casual and "dressy". I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone living in the northern Midwest or northeast. This coat will keep you warm. Only thing I don't like are the Velcro on the front. Hopefully Columbia changes that and outs snaps all the way up (as there are 2 snaps on the bottom- having these go all the way up would be great). This is a minor detail when looking at the coat as a whole though. November 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product Very warm, windproof and waterproof. Perfect for the Chicago's weather. I would recommend it 100%! November 27, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by disappointing I took a big gulp before deciding to spend over $200 on a coat, but really needed something that would keep me warm in the most extreme weather AND keep me dry in the snow. I love the fit, the arms are nice and long, and the features on the body of the jacket seem good except that the pocket openings are narrow, which I can live with. HOWEVER... the hood ruins it all. With the fur on, all it does it tickle your face and impede your vision. With the fur off, the hood no longer reaches out beyond your face because the depatchable part with the fur also removes almost 4 inches of the front part of the hood itself, the part that should be there to shield your face from any falling snow, etc. But worst of all, there is no way at all to snug up the hood opening! It just sits on your head loosely, ready to blow off with the slightest breeze. This hood is just about useless. It is ironic that my short Columbia jacket which cost less than $100 has an awesome hood with great detachable fur but fur only AND effective drawstring things to snug the hood around your face. The hood is a deal breaker for me, and I am sad about it because I really think that the rest of the coat is very nice. FYI -- the color is not black, this a gray coat with black arm cuffs and collar lining. I like the gray, but it is definitely NOT black as advertised. November 24, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not just a little on the small size. This is a lovely coat, even if the ruff on the hood is sparse. I normally wear a medium, but I ordered a large after reading the reviews. I should have ordered an extra large. When I returned it, I was disappointed to find I had to pay an additional $20 to return this coat. I have not re-ordered it, although it appeared to be the perfect coat for me...except for the size. November 21, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by A coat worthy of a Polar Vortex! After having my trusty, well-loved coat give out during last winter's Chicago Polar Vortex, I began my search for the perfect replacement coat. Unable to get this coat last year (all sold out), I ordered it this fall. I am 5'3", 130#, curvey, and usually wear a 8-10 petite. The medium was too tight to fit a blazer underneath, and there was also no room for the "snowpants" that I wear when I have to shovel snow when there's a -30 degree windchill. I returned it for the large and it will allow for the blazer and snowpants (not worn at the same time!). I wanted a coat that didn't require layers, and the Onmiheat makes that possible. I was out in -6 windchill with just a long-sleeve t-shirt and was perfectly warm. The sleeves are a little long, but the comfort cuff keeps that from being problematic. I get lots of compliments on it's looks and I love how warm it is. November 21, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by So warm This coat is excellent. It is very warm - and, I am always cold. I highly recommend it - I feel surprisingly warm in this coat - warmer than any coat I have ever had. November 20, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by amazing wiinter coat! My bust measurement is 37", my waist is 29" and I am 5'4". i usually wear size 6/8. I purchased the medium and it fits great, I adjusted the waist strap so it looks more flattering. This is the warmest coat I've ever had, we've had very cold and very snowy weather in the great lakes area lately and it has kept me completely warm. I even wore the coat to a very cold football game and I didn't feel cold once. The coat falls right above my knee, but it doesn't look too long. The hood is a little weird, but if you wear a beanie or winter had under the hood, it looks normal. Overall, great coat and we'll worth the price. November 20, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Worht it's Weight in Gold This is a great coat. The fact that it keeps me warm unlike any coat I've had before makes it worth it's weight in gold. Fit: I ordered this in a large and it fits, but a little more tight at the waist than I had expected (I'm more straight than curvy, though). It has plenty of room in the hips for sitting/driving/walking. It has excellent shoulder room (I have broad-ish shoulders) and the arms are long (which I like). Warmth: It is very warm, and in a way I didn't expect. I wore this in 30F temps, and I didn't feel a thing. I wore it in below zero temperatures and was comfortable (it paid for itself that day). I also wore it while I was grocery shopping and wasn't sweating. It didn't OVER heat me. That was a nice surprise. Hood: A few reviews mentioned the hood was an issue. If you want a hood with full coverage, but are dead set against wearing faux fur, I would not recommend this coat. Without the fur, the hood is just about useless. Typically, I don't really like fur because of the shedding, however, I found that I feel significantly warmer with the fur included. I made an exception and found it doesn't really shed that much. Just a hair here or there. The only thing I have yet to see is how long this coat lasts. November 18, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Beautiful Coat I was so excited when my new coat arrived. I ordered the coat in black coal. It is beautiful. Unfortunately, this coat is very form fitting and was quite snug for me. I am a woman in my fifties. It is most likely perfect for a younger woman. November 17, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love everything but the hood Love the coat, keeps me really warm here in NYC. The only problem I have is that the hood does not stay in place, specially if is windy. If it had drawstrings it would work as intended. November 17, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Functional and flattering I am 5'2", 115lbs and the SX fits perfectly. I live in Chicago and need a really warm coat that will stand up to negative degree wind chills. I have been wearing this coat for the past two weeks and already I can tell that it was a great choice. Not only is it really warm, it doesn't look too bulky like some winter coats do. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a new winter coat this year! November 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Outdoor It´s a great outdoor clothes. November 14, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Standing up well to the cold! I did a substantial amount of research before shelling out ~$300 for a winter coat. I compared several similar jackets at this price point (North Face, Marmot, Patagonia, Arcteryx, etc.) and finally settled on the Columbia jacket. I wanted a flattering jacket that would stand up to the brutal Chicago weather. Several other jackets didn't have windbreaker fabric and felt too thin or fragile. In the end, I was stuck between the North Face Arctic Parka and the Columbia. I ultimately decided against the Arctic Parka because the Columbia beat it in almost every aspect. 1. The North Face does not have a cinching belt at the waist. The Columbia gives you an option to expand it out to accommodate for layers, or to cinch to give a more flattering silhouette. 2. The North Face's pockets only had fleece lining for the top of the hand. What gives? 3. The North Face was just slightly shorter than the Columbia. 4. The North Face had 550 Fill compared to Columbia's 650 Fill + Omni-Heat. 6. The Columbia sleeves have thumb holes which arguably is a bit of a gimmick, but still nice to keep out the wind! The only thing where the North Face won out against the Columbia (and has been brought up several times) is that the Columbia hood does NOT cinch. That said, I plan on wearing a balaclava underneath it for the coldest months so I don't expect it to be an issue. I excitedly tested out the jacket today. In Chicago it was 30 degrees, with 21 degrees windchill. I stood outside for a solid 20 minutes while waiting for food from a food truck. Everyone else was shivering and I was absolutely content. As for sizing, I found that it fit very true to size. I am 5'6" and 125 pounds. I normally wear a Small. I was planning on sizing up to a Medium for layering, but it just ended up being too bulky. With a small, I am able to comfortably wear a shirt, a cardigan, and a thin jacket underneath. November 13, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Very long and bulky I ordered this coat in a size Large upon reading other reviews. I am 5' 6" and 138 lbs and normally wear a Medium but wanted to size up so I could wear sweatshirts underneath this jacket. The quality and function are great, I really loved the jacket but when I tried it on it was just too long and bulky feeling. I went to the store hoping to try on a Medium but they didn't carry this jacket. I am thinking the Medium would have fit better but it still would have been too long and I may not have been able to layer underneath. November 10, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great jacket Great look and feel! I've been looking for a jacket for the Chicago winter and this is definitely the best one out there. Doesn't fit bulky like other parkas. November 7, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Better than NF Arctic Parka I was at the North Face store planning on getting their Arctic Parka but I found it to be too tight in the sleeves (and I'm a size 2), so I decided to keep looking. Walked into the Columbia store and was immediately drawn to the long down jacket. It just felt warmer and better made. Since I purchased it, I had a chance to wear it a couple of times and even though I still think it's better than the competition, I think it can be improved with a few tweaks: 1. The velcro, though convenient, gets filled with yarn from my scarf, and it looks bad, hard to clean. I prefer snaps. 2. The opening of the pockets felt an inch or two too small. Couldn't fit with my gloves on. 3. It would be nice to add a couple more pockets on the inside. 4. When I wear my hair up, the hood feels too tight/short. I think it needs to be a bit looser. 5. It was almost impossible to button the neck collar. It is too tight when I do. Needs some more space there. 6. Would recommend a way to adjust the cuffs because I couldn't fit my gloves under. 7. The fabric of the thumb holes is way too flimsy. Perhaps something more fleecy? I got the Dark Gray color but really wanted something more fresh. The red I thought was too Burgundy, too muted. Would love to see brighter, fresher colors. October 29, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great winter coat Attractive and highly functional October 8, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Are You Cold? Get this coat. You need this coat if you are still cold. I should preface: I was always cold; I am 5'5 and 115 lbs, 32 chest, with low blood pressure and long arms, and I live in Chicago. I tried a NorthFace parka, LLBean, and LandsEnd. I came across this Columbia coat in Rocket Red with the adjustable snap buttons on the back (I use them to make the small smaller.) I can't believe how warm, toasty, and happier I am wearing this coat in winter. The arms are long enough at this size, the thumb holes in the cuff sleeves help keep cold air out, it's waterproof, the cut is stylish, and it is so worth the money. As for the hood: I just wrap a scarf on around the hood and neck and it stays on beautifully. I am paid compliments on how warm and cute I look in this coat and I tell each person to get one too. January 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very Warm and Stylish Too Great parka for my trips up north! Got the XL so I could easily wear a turtleneck and suit jacket under it. I'm 5'7" and 145 lbs. I normally buy Large, but after reading the reviews I realized XL would best meet my needs. XL is perfect! Like this longer parka; now my rear is fully covered. I selected black, but it is actually a coal color. Stylish design. Have received compliments. Wish I could tighten the hood though. I definitely recommend buying this coat even though it does cost a lot. It will probably last my lifetime! January 14, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Disappointed I was thrilled to get the coat. The fit was good, but when I went outside, I found my arms were cold through the sleeves. Any down coat I own must have a hood since I don't use hats. As there is no drawstromg. my ears were left uncovered and cold. Also, as I don't like the look of faux fur, I removed it by unzipping it from the base of the hood. Then the hood was not deep enough and the cold got right in. January 9, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by This will keep me warm I am very interested in this new technology that will keep me naturally warm….it is just a bit "stiff" right now. I hope it will relax a bit. January 5, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Looking for warmth...get this coat! Was looking for months for a WARM coat. Very, very happy with this coat. All other down coats I've looked at are all paper thin and not warm at all. This coat delivers warmth in subzero temperatures and wind chills in NE. Wish the hood had a drawstring to close it so the wind doesn't blow it off. The flint grey kettle is a very nice color! Glad it wasn't a true grey color! January 3, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome winter coat! Wow I really love this coat. I was comparing it to TNF's Arctic Parka and it is so much more flattering. The Columbia Apres Arson coat is really warm and flattering and the silver lining looks cool when you take it off. I've gotten lots of compliments while wearing it! Pros: 1. It fits a pear shaped curvy figure very well. I am 5'4" and 135 lbs and I always have trouble getting long coats to fit - if they fit my upper body, I can't zip them around my hips. The columbia coat fits perfectly, not too tight, not too loose and the adjustable waist makes it so flattering. 2 It's waterproof! Basically the only waterproof coat that is flattering that I found. 3. The grey color is very nice and has a slight herringbone pattern to it. 4. I like the thumb-hole sleeves. They really keep the wind out. Cons: 1. If you zip it up all the way, the neck is a slightly tight. 2. It does shed some feathers - nothing extreme. Every time I wear it I find 2 or 3 feathers on me afterwards. 3. The hood, while lacking a cord like the other reviews stated, hasn't given me any trouble, especially if I wear a hat underneath it. With that being said, I will probably install a cinch cord myself since I know a little about sewing (you need a couple of grommets). You could probably have a tailor do it for you if you don't know how to sew. January 2, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Stylishly warm and great details. I recently purchased the North Face Alekzia and the Columbia Apres in a size small. The Columbia was about $100 less expensive, and felt much warmer and more comfortable, without sacrificing style. I kept the Apres. The inner cuffs and zippers seem to be great quality and the stylish back belt is very slimming for such a warm down jacket. As previous reviewers mentioned, the hood is not very functional----no drawstring. I also would have preferred an inside zipper and maybe a chest zipper for extra storage. I purchased the flint grey because it was the only color available in my size. I would have preferred the deep red, although the grey is very neutral and matches everything. January 1, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by WARM! Very pleased. I grew up in MN but now work in Singapore. Knew it was going to be really cold while I was home (-15 to 1 F). Coat has kept me warm. Hood is loose. I wear a stand alone hood most days and only pull up the coat's hood when it gets windy. That is a really warm combo. I like the inner sleeves that act as half gloves. However, I can't check my watch since they cover it and it is tricky to pull my gloves over it. Even so, I love that there is no gap at my wrist for the cold to slip in. Pockets are small but they do zip so items stay in them. As others have mentioned, the zipper is tough to get started. I like that the fur trim is removable from the hood. The fur is long and so it looked like it was wearing me. Based on other reviews I ordered a large. In most clothes and brands I always take a medium but this large is a good fit over multiple layers of clothes. I am 5'1" and I love that it comes down to mid-calf. So much warmer than my car coat. Rated 5 out of 5 by Love this coat! Born and raised in MN and always cold. Lived in AZ for 10 years then moved back. Needless to say I needed something special to keep me warm. I bought a vest with omni-heat that I wore camping in the higher elevations and was always warm. I decided to get this cot and I absolutely love it! I don't have to start my car early when going somewhere. It keeps me warm when walking outside-even when it's well below zero. The longer length keeps my legs warm too. I didn't want to spend the money for the coat (couldn't find it on sale) but I'm glad I did. January 1, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love this coat! This is exactly what I was looking for in a coat: stylish and still functional for northeast winters. I love that it gives you a silhouette instead of making you look like a shapeless blob. The inner sleeves with the thumbholes are a nice plus and I like that the collar goes up high enough to cover the lower half of my face. Definitely blocks the wind and cold. It would be nice if the hood had a drawstring but it doesn't really bother me. The hood is plenty deep enough with the fur, although it does seem like it would be a little shallow with the fur removed (haven't actually removed it yet). I was hesitant about ordering a small since the reviews said the coat runs small; the size guide indicated I would be between a small and a medium. It ended up fitting perfectly--a little room for layering but not too roomy (I'm 5'1" 125 lbs). The bottom hits around my knees and the sleeves are a good length. Overall, great investment! Just wish the red hadn't been out of stock! December 30, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Jacket, but wrong color I was pretty disappointed about the color black, charcoal. I saw the Jacket in the store, tried it on in the light gray and asked if they had it in black. Thus the salesperson ordered it online. Online - without zooming in it looked dark. When the jacket arrived it turned out to be a darker gray. More disappointing: Colombia doesn't pay for the delivery back! I had to go to a store to return it. Which wasn't convenient at all. What makes it so disappointing is - that it is great jacket with a great slim fit look. Loved it. Warm and comfy. You just need to like the color. December 29, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful coat I have been looking for a coat for a long time that has style, warmth (without the bulk), knee length and one that has extra long sleeves for my long arms. I'm 5'10" so I was having difficulty finding the right length & this coat falls right above my knee. I also love the long sleeve length with extra long cuffs. I feel great wearing this coat plus it's very cozy & warm. December 29, 2013
