Reviews

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 72 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Jacket I LOVE my new jacket and every Columbia jacket that I have ever owned. The best part of this jacket is that I have long arms and have a hard time finding any jacket that is long enough in the sleeves. When I put this one on, I had another winner. I know the price seems a little high but I can justify the purchase because every Columbia jacket I've owned (this will be my third) has lasted me at least 5 years each. January 16, 2017
Rated 5 out of 5 by Warm in Maine Very warm but not bulky or heavy. Temps below zero with high winds and maintains warmth. Truly waterproof January 14, 2017
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Jacket one problem Love my jacket. Great style and very warm. My only complaint is the adjustable waist does not stay tightened. They loosen within minutes of tightening them up, defeating the purpose. Wish they were better but overall a good jacket. January 6, 2017
Rated 1 out of 5 by should have paid attention to other reviews I really wanted to love this jacket...but... - the coat was heavy and bulky but not warm - the sleeves had very little insulation and were not warm at all - at 50 degrees with no wind, I was not warm enough, especially my arms. - the reflective insulation does not work! Columbia, you let me down!!! January 6, 2017
Rated 5 out of 5 by Warm and comfy This jacket keeps me warm in the snow and wind. I am very happy with the coat and It looks great! January 5, 2017
Rated 5 out of 5 by Omni heat Barlow Pass jacket I love this coat! It is very warm, and the perfect length! December 26, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Warm but bulky This is a very warm, well made coat. Looks great, I love the colour and style. It's great for when you're out in the elements, but is very bulky to drive in. And the fit seems to be quite large. My last Columbia winter jacket was a medium and fit perfectly. I ordered a small based on reviews and still find it very large. I am 5'2" and find that the sleeves are too long and are always bunched up. December 21, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great coat I love this coat. Ordered offline without trying on after trying on similar styles in store. The coat fits great, sleeves are a little long but that isn't a bother with cold Michigan winters. Coat is warm but feels lightweight without being puffy. Very happy with my choice. December 20, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Absolutely Amazing The coat is extremely warm and comfy with roomy pockets. The other night it felt like -15 degrees Fahrenheit and I did not feel it a single bit. The omni-heat inside traps your heat in wonderfully. For size, I stand at about 5' 2'', ordered a small. The sleeves are a tad bit longer than my fingers but I like it, it keeps my hands warm. It comes to about mid-thigh in length. The only things I have a little complaint about is the collar and hood. The collar has a tenancy to stick up, it doesn't want to lay down nicely when you don't have it zipped up all the way so time to time to pokes me under my jaw. The fur on the hood sticks out funny on the ends, instead of shaping with the hood it makes it kinda looks like an oval and can be funny looking time to time. Otherwise, this coat is amazing, I'm not going to have to worry about the north cold when walking around for college. December 17, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by I returned it I read all of the reviews I could to try to figure out my size. I am 110 pounds, 5'2", 32A bust and slim. I went with the XS and it fit me. The armpit area was a tiny bit tight , but it wasn't uncomfortable, just maybe a higher cut. I do have slightly broader shoulders. I didn't think I had long arms, but the sleeves fit me perfectly so maybe I do! I did not wear this jacket very long because I wasn't sure if I was keeping it. When I wore it outside in 5 degree weather my arms were still cold. I also felt a draft coming up the bottom a bit. I also did not like that the fur on the hood is longer and untamed, just personal preference. You can make the hood tighter to your liking which is nice. I also knew the pockets were on the front of the jacket, which I would prefer them being on the side so I can put my hands in. When I put my cell phone in the pocket and then sat down, the phone was poking me in the stomach. This jacket has a ton of great reviews, so it must be great, it just wasn't for me. The black is a dark grey color with a pretty sheen to it and a heather weave to the fabric. Very attractive. December 17, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Grey is the New Black The color description of this coat is misleading. It's a great coat and all, but the "black" coat is definitely grey. Not even a dark grey, it's a middle grey. I was disappointed to say the least. December 16, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by The Perfect Every-Day Winter Jacket I LOVE this jacket! It's fits true to size, and is extremely compfortable - not too heavy and not too light. It keeps me warm even in 18F. The fur lining on the collar is so soft... I use it every day! I've only had it for a couple of weeks now so I can't attest for durability, but the overall quality feels and looks like it will last a long time. I am giving it 5 stars without a doubt. December 16, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by No pockets I was really excited about this coat but there were no pockets for your hands. There were pockets that opened on top with a flap but not something you could shove your hands in. Super disappointed. It is 12 degrees here and I am desperate for a coat. I am trying another one but it hasn't shipped yet. It doesn't look as warm but appears to have usable pockets. December 16, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Jacket! I absolutely love this jacket. I had never owned a longer jacket before and being of shorter stature I was worried about how it would look on me. It fits and looks great and I get so many compliments on it. December 15, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Almost perfect but not quite... I have a love/hate relationship with this coat. It's almost perfect except for the very frustrating front pockets and typical quirky Columbia fit. This is a very warm mid length coat. I love the fuzzy Sherpa lining around the neck and chin, this alone makes this a keeper. No need for a scarf because it is soft, cozy and warm. But the lack of side pockets is nearly a dealbreaker. The front pockets are awkward, low, and shallow/narrow. They only have an inner lining on one side. The worst thing is that they pop out and look horrible if you put anything in your pockets, especially your hands. I am petite and have small hands and they barely fit. I expect a thick winter jacket of this sort to have appropriate pockets for warmth and these don't cut it. I'm sure this is made worse by the fact that this coat fits a bit oddly. I'm 5'1", 115lbs and slightly pear shaped and bought the XS. The coat is a bit tight around my rear and hips (making the front pocket area tight and bottom zipper start to split when I sit) but considerably looser up top, around my upper arms, and upper back. The fit is not as bad as other Columbia coats (Lay D Down) and thankfully the arm length, while still a bit long, isn't as bad either, but I still look a bit like a linebacker with this jacket (my husband said it's not a very flattering jacket). The adjustable straps on the side really don't do much to help. Despite this, the coat is very warm and fairly lightweight (but still manages to look bulky). I have room to layer with a fleece or heavy sweater, but have been just fine in DC area winter weather so far just wearing a long sleeve mid weight shirt (temps down to low 30s). It has the Omni heat lining and I'm not sure that I like it. The lining does absolutely nothing for me when I'm standing around or waking my corgi (with those little legs, they don't move fast), but when walking around campus briskly I start to overheat and actually sweat. I feel like the Omni heat makes this and the other jackets I've tried into "moist ovens" that don't breathe and cause me to trap heat and overheat when I don't need it. The overall quality seems good and I expect it to last a while. I'll keep this coat since I got it for a discounted price, but wouldn't have kept it at full price since basic functionality is limited by poor design. December 15, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Pretty Very warm Although I'm not IN LOVE with the style of this coat on me, I get a ton of compliments on this coat and it's colour (the green shade). I'm 5'8" - the sleeves are a nice length on me Well made The only problem is that the adjustable straps on both sides of the waist always loosen! I have to readjust them everytime I put the coat on or after a minute or so of moving around in the coat. I'm going to add velcro to keep them tightened and in the same spot. December 13, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great One Pretty true to size with perfect quality and relatively low weight. December 13, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Winter Coat Love this coat. I can wear in Chicago winter and have stayed completely warm. The only thing I would change on it is the fur around the hood. I would have like a better quality fur on it, but it is removable. December 13, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Warm Parka Read many reviews before buying. I am a 5.1 small-frame woman and ordered the india ink in xs. It fits great, even though often jackets feel too large on me. It looks exactly like the picture too. So my two main concern because of reviews I read before buying were both untrue and I was happily surprised with the great look and warmth of this jacket. Perfect for a true colorado mountain winter! December 13, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by LOVE this coat! I absolutely LOVE this coat. I am 5’11 and weigh about 155 lbs. I have an athletic build with broader shoulders and usually have a hard time finding coats that are long enough and that aren’t too snug in the shoulders. I ordered a medium and was pleasantly surprised with how well this coat fit. I still have plenty of room underneath for thick sweaters, but the coat fits nicely and does not appear baggy or slouchy. I noticed some other reviews complaining about the fur around the hood. I will say that it’s not as thick as the fur on some of the other Columbia coats that I own, but it still looks very nice. I ordered the coat in black and it is actually more of a charcoal gray which I ended up liking better anyway. The coat is extremely warm and hits me on my upper thigh so it keeps you covered even when bending or sitting. I am extremely pleased with this purchase! December 9, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful. Stylish. Warm. Love love this coat. Looks hip. Has warm sherpa material on the collar which keeps your neck warm. Soft stretchy cotton for wrists and long enough to pull over hands. I'm 5'2 165 to 170 lbs and a Medium fits exact -I'm small on top and tad thicker on waist and thicker bottom. Length is mid-thigh. Coat is keeping me very warm in 25 degree weather. The only thing I would add is side pockets since pockets are in the front. Lots of small but nice features. December 9, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by don't order online tried this coat on in Pond at the store. I decided to order it online. When it arrived, I thought it would be the same coat, however the inside lining, instead of being black like the one in the store was a bright pink color. Not being one who likes to wear bright pink, I decided to return. However, as I do not live near a store, I must pay return shipping on it. I do see now that the online picture, when looking at the hood you can see a tiny bit of red color, but not at all the bright pink that it is in person. I must say that red would have been fine, but the pink does not go well with the pond color on the outside. December 8, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by great warmth I got this coat on sale and it has amazing quality. Very Warm December 8, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by I love this Jacket This is the best Columbia Jacket I have had so far. I live in MN & it gets so cold here. I take public transportation and I never have to worry about being cold. It runs small so go a size up. the only bad thing is if you order Black it isn't really black it is more of a heather grey. I didn't like that so I exchanged it for a Plum purple & I am so much happier with the color. December 8, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by This coat is the best coat I've ever had. I wanted a coat for cold weather and it keeps me very warm. I ordered India Ink - color was dark navy blue. I would definitely recommend this coat. December 8, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Super Warm! This jacket fits well and is super warm! The India Ink is a very pretty navy color. I really like the length of this coat (I'm 5'7" and it hits about mid thigh). My only complaint is the buckles on the sides do not stay tight. December 7, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Jacket for windy, cold winters Columbia has great products, the omniheat is one of my favorites! This is my second jacket from them and I have no complaints. I am someone who is cold very easily, and I have found that in the sub zero NY winters I stay completely warm with a thin tshirt underneath! December 6, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Oversize Hi,I am living in HK now and ordered this product through online two weeks ago after fitting the size in HK before placed this order, figure out M size should be suitable for me. But found M size is totally different from that I tried in HK finally when I got the coat. What's the reason for the difference you know that it's the same model no matter buying in u.s. or HK...now I just want to return it...but it's excellent for the quality and function... December 4, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Grey not Black I just got this jacket. Looks good so far; it is very light, hopefully, warm as I expect, but as other reviews pointed out, is not black but gray, or at least doesn't look like in the picture. I will update the review next month after I use it in the winter. November 28, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Not true to colour This coat is great - warm, comfortable, breathable. However, I ordered the "black" colour and it is definitely a grey colour. I would definitely recommend this coat to a friend, however I think Columbia needs to change the names of colours to match their products. November 10, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Comfy, Warm Jacket - didn't quite look like photo Happy with the jacket, it'll be great for cold, wet weather. Bit disappointed - the color that arrived looks a bit like dark navy rather than "black". In the photo of the black jacket, it has a brown leather tag on the pocket - mine showed up with a black tag. I thought I was sent the wrong color at first, but, none of the three colors have black tags - all have leather. So, bit odd. Wish the photo looked like the actual product that gets sent out. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Coat I love this coat! It fits great and has a slightly fitted cut, so it's not so bulky but is incredibly warm. I am 5'4" and 140lbs and got a size M, it fits perfectly. I'm so picky about coats and have been looking for the right one for a few years. I ordered the peatmoss color and love it! June 9, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for Minnesota winters I was looking for a jacket that would protect me from the cold winter in MN and this jacket was perfect! I'm tall (5'10) so I got the large and it was perfect arm length and covered my bottom. The outside material is amazing; no liquid made it through. I got so many compliments from friends on this jacket as well. April 3, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Man is it good! I love this coat! It's cute, it fits beautifully, and man is it ever warm! I work in downtown Pittsburgh (which is basically a frozen wind tunnel in the winter), but I literally feel no cold everywhere this coat is, it's a marvel of fashion and function as far as I am concerned. March 16, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Warm winter coat I bought this in December as I needed a new winter jacket. My sister swears by Columbia products and this coat was priced lower than a comparable North Face winter coat so I purchased it. The only regret I have is not realizing that a longer coat may need to have a double zipper as sitting in my car with this coat zipped is weird as it bunches up in an odd way and doesn't lay flat. I've solved this by simply snapping the coat instead of zipping it (not to mention the coat seems to get especially warm after my car's heated seats have been on for a little bit). I'm 6'1" and a average/thin build so I ordered a Large - the coat fits well, the sleeves are a great length, the hood is slightly large but livable since I'd rather it be larger than smaller. The waist adjustments don't seem to want to stay in place which can be annoying but again it's nothing I can't live with. Overall it's a warm coat and I'm pleased that my sister recommended Columbia. February 12, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by From Florida to Ohio! After 31 years in Florida, I moved to the Cleveland area...clearly clueless to cold!!! I am 5'3" - 90 lbs. and I ordered the X Small. The jacket is amazing! Extremely warm and comfortable. The fur on the hood covers your face perfectly in the wind, however you can roll the fur back if you do not need your face completely covered, yet keep the hood on. The sleeves tend to be a little long, but I prefer that. The jacket zippers up tightly to your neck and keeps you so warm. The back of the jacket is as cute as the front and everywhere I go, I receive a compliment! I love the jacket and highly recommend it!! February 11, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Warm upgrade for the Colorado Rockies My previous Columbia coat lasted 6 years until the zipper busted. Instead of getting it fixed, I opted for a new one. I'm 5' 10" with long arms and I ordered a medium in green. Fits great with room for layers and has been keeping me warm for the last few weeks. We've had temps in the negatives and I still am able to walk around outside for a bit without feeling cold. The pockets in the front are something to get used to. My old jacket had top and side entry pockets, which is much more preferred. Also, I wish the jacket was a little longer to cover my legs a bit more. Overall great buy though. I'm very pleased with the quality, color and warmth and have received many compliments. February 5, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by By itself, it is not warm. I wore this up to the mountains when it was snowing. The product really didn't hold up to my standards, but I love the style. I wear it everyday and people think I'm getting ready to go to Alaska, but its not so bad when we got chilly weather and it was raining in portland. The problem was when we had a snowstorm. The jacket didn't keep me warm, and the lining of the collar inside got wet when snow came down. Which can be irritating and itchy to your chin. Also, the jacket wasn't water resistant and was wet on the inside... from the snow :( The only reason why i stayed warm was because i wore the under layer omni shirt and tights and my snow gear. I still love the jacket, but it really isn't as warm as i thought it would be even when zipped up... also doesn't hold well to harsh weather. January 30, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Wish I listened to the reviews This coat is cute but it's a bit different than the picture. It is shinier and lighter colored, the fur looks sparse and the coat is kind of bulky. But if you are very tall this coat will probably look great on you, minus the fur on the hood. I had to buy an XL so that it would fit my bust and torso, but I am only 5'2. The midsection fit fine but was kind of puffy/bulky. The sleeves went *at least* 5 inches past the tips of my fingers and looked ridiculous pulled back so I could use my hands. The pockets were kind of inconvenient and thin. I'm sure I would have been able to keep this coat if Columbia offered sizes for different sized people! (Petite, regular, plus, tall) The price was right with the sale and it was very comfy and warm, but the sizing was really terrible. January 24, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Pear-shaped gals need more room in hips I haven't had cold enough weather to really try it out but it seems very toasty when I did try it on. The faux fur hood attachment was taken off immediately as the hood is too roomy and the fur obscured my vision except for my toes. An extra woolen hat or head band would help fill up the space and make the hood fit better. Being an older, more hip-wide woman, I found the bottom part a bit snug. I would be nice to have a more "womanly" selection when it comes to sizing. Extra lg doesn't mean extra tall, broader shoulders and longer arms. How about - "robust hip" sizes. We're all different. January 21, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by turbodown warmth! Living in Pa and finally getting a minus 2 below 0 with the wind chill I have worn the coat for the 1st time after getting it. Warmest coat I ever got! Absolutely love it. Fits true to size I would buy. Can't say enough how much I love it. No chill comes through. The hood is a bit flimsy but nothing a scarf or something around the neck can't fix. Highly recommend this! Would love to own 2 different colors! January 12, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Womans Barlo Pass Jacket There were only size larges available in this jack so I was a bit skeptical when I ordered it, but upon arrival I was quite pleased with the fit, it has a nice pull on the inside so you can sinch the waist The back of the jacket is longer and covers your assets nicely,The hood also has adjustable straps so you can control how far it covers your face, I love this jacket it looks great and is very warm January 6, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by My favorite coat! This is my third Columbia coat and it is by far my favorite. It's so warm and looks great! January 5, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by this coat goes casual to too cute . getting many complements. I 'm very satisfied with the styling of this coat . January 4, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fit and warmth notes FIT: I am 5'9 and 123 lbs. Initially ordered the XS which I returned because the width of the shoulders was a bit small and the material cut into my armpits. Exchanged for a small and it fits well. Definitely good for tall, slim girls as the arms and body are long. The arm length of the small is perfect (XS would have worked but the small covers my wrists even when stretching my arm and pulling the coat material). XS also would have been fine around the body; just the armpit and shoulder areas were tight. WARMTH: I believe this will be very warm. I am ALWAYS cold and this has kept me comfortable in 30 degree weather and I need to take it off when inside shopping for more than 5 minutes. Haven't had a chance to test it out in colder weather but I've stayed warmer in 30 degree weather than I have in any other jacket I've owned. Was lusting over a Canada Down jacket but I'm very happy with this budget friendly alternative. The omni heat must be working! January 2, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by fantastic coat I recently moved from a warmer climate to northern colorado and needed a very warm coat, but didn't want a tacky looking huge one. This jacket is perfect! It keeps wind, snow, rain, and coldness out completely. I'm most comfortable when the outdoor temp is around 90 degrees, but with just a little jacket underneath or even only a long sleeve shirt under this jacket, I can walk downtown or on a mountain in the single digit temps and actually be comfortable and enjoy my time outside all year!!! Plus the olive color goes with nearly anything and I get tons of compliments on it. December 31, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love! Got this jacket as a gift and couldn't be happier. I live in MN and am always cold! This jacket is so toasty warm. It's very flattering because the sides can cinch, so you don't feel boxy. Would like a little different structure on the front pockets (you have to put your hands in straight down and not by your hips like most jackets), but that is really minor. Love it! December 28, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Almost perfect This is a warm, stylish (as much as an insulated coat can be) coat. However, it's just too short for a New England winter. If it were 5 inches longer, it would be perfect. I need to return it and settle for something a little uglier, but a lot more practical. I'll keep my fingers crossed for Columbia to make a longer version one day! December 22, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by WARNING: NOT FOR SMALLER/ PETITE WOMEN This jacket is excellent quality and appears to be extremely warm. I'm not knocking that. Just wanted to let other buyers know about the fit. I am 105 lbs, 5'2 and this jacket is SWIMMING on me. The sleeves are way too long, the neck is way too high (it almost covers my entire face when zipped up) and I'd need about 5 jackets underneath for it not to be bagging off of me. I wish there was an XXS size and a Petite option. Unfortunately sizes have changed so much over the years, and this jacket likely would have been a S or Medium about 10 years ago. Smaller women like myself are getting sized out :( Please accommodate us too! Every body type deserves to be warm. I'd say it's "true to size" for current standards, seeing as XS is actually much larger than it used to be for every brand. *I bought another XS jacket and it's just as big. So this review applies to all Columbia women's XS jackets. December 21, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazingly warm This is by far the warmest winter coat I've ever owned. It's a little longer and covers your butt without being a "long" jacket. I highly recommend when it dips below 20. It might actually be TOO warm if it's warmer than that. December 18, 2015
