Rated 3 out of 5 by Comfy, Warm Jacket - didn't quite look like photo Happy with the jacket, it'll be great for cold, wet weather. Bit disappointed - the color that arrived looks a bit like dark navy rather than "black". In the photo of the black jacket, it has a brown leather tag on the pocket - mine showed up with a black tag. I thought I was sent the wrong color at first, but, none of the three colors have black tags - all have leather. So, bit odd. Wish the photo looked like the actual product that gets sent out. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Coat I love this coat! It fits great and has a slightly fitted cut, so it's not so bulky but is incredibly warm. I am 5'4" and 140lbs and got a size M, it fits perfectly. I'm so picky about coats and have been looking for the right one for a few years. I ordered the peatmoss color and love it! June 9, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for Minnesota winters I was looking for a jacket that would protect me from the cold winter in MN and this jacket was perfect! I'm tall (5'10) so I got the large and it was perfect arm length and covered my bottom. The outside material is amazing; no liquid made it through. I got so many compliments from friends on this jacket as well. April 3, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Man is it good! I love this coat! It's cute, it fits beautifully, and man is it ever warm! I work in downtown Pittsburgh (which is basically a frozen wind tunnel in the winter), but I literally feel no cold everywhere this coat is, it's a marvel of fashion and function as far as I am concerned. Rated 4 out of 5 by Warm winter coat I bought this in December as I needed a new winter jacket. My sister swears by Columbia products and this coat was priced lower than a comparable North Face winter coat so I purchased it. The only regret I have is not realizing that a longer coat may need to have a double zipper as sitting in my car with this coat zipped is weird as it bunches up in an odd way and doesn't lay flat. I've solved this by simply snapping the coat instead of zipping it (not to mention the coat seems to get especially warm after my car's heated seats have been on for a little bit). I'm 6'1" and a average/thin build so I ordered a Large - the coat fits well, the sleeves are a great length, the hood is slightly large but livable since I'd rather it be larger than smaller. The waist adjustments don't seem to want to stay in place which can be annoying but again it's nothing I can't live with. Overall it's a warm coat and I'm pleased that my sister recommended Columbia. Rated 5 out of 5 by From Florida to Ohio! After 31 years in Florida, I moved to the Cleveland area...clearly clueless to cold!!! I am 5'3" - 90 lbs. and I ordered the X Small. The jacket is amazing! Extremely warm and comfortable. The fur on the hood covers your face perfectly in the wind, however you can roll the fur back if you do not need your face completely covered, yet keep the hood on. The sleeves tend to be a little long, but I prefer that. The jacket zippers up tightly to your neck and keeps you so warm. The back of the jacket is as cute as the front and everywhere I go, I receive a compliment! I love the jacket and highly recommend it!! February 11, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Warm upgrade for the Colorado Rockies My previous Columbia coat lasted 6 years until the zipper busted. Instead of getting it fixed, I opted for a new one. I'm 5' 10" with long arms and I ordered a medium in green. Fits great with room for layers and has been keeping me warm for the last few weeks. We've had temps in the negatives and I still am able to walk around outside for a bit without feeling cold. The pockets in the front are something to get used to. My old jacket had top and side entry pockets, which is much more preferred. Also, I wish the jacket was a little longer to cover my legs a bit more. Overall great buy though. I'm very pleased with the quality, color and warmth and have received many compliments. February 5, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by By itself, it is not warm. I wore this up to the mountains when it was snowing. The product really didn't hold up to my standards, but I love the style. I wear it everyday and people think I'm getting ready to go to Alaska, but its not so bad when we got chilly weather and it was raining in portland. The problem was when we had a snowstorm. The jacket didn't keep me warm, and the lining of the collar inside got wet when snow came down. Which can be irritating and itchy to your chin. Also, the jacket wasn't water resistant and was wet on the inside... from the snow :( The only reason why i stayed warm was because i wore the under layer omni shirt and tights and my snow gear. I still love the jacket, but it really isn't as warm as i thought it would be even when zipped up... also doesn't hold well to harsh weather. January 30, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Wish I listened to the reviews This coat is cute but it's a bit different than the picture. It is shinier and lighter colored, the fur looks sparse and the coat is kind of bulky. But if you are very tall this coat will probably look great on you, minus the fur on the hood. I had to buy an XL so that it would fit my bust and torso, but I am only 5'2. The midsection fit fine but was kind of puffy/bulky. The sleeves went *at least* 5 inches past the tips of my fingers and looked ridiculous pulled back so I could use my hands. The pockets were kind of inconvenient and thin. I'm sure I would have been able to keep this coat if Columbia offered sizes for different sized people! (Petite, regular, plus, tall) The price was right with the sale and it was very comfy and warm, but the sizing was really terrible. January 24, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Pear-shaped gals need more room in hips I haven't had cold enough weather to really try it out but it seems very toasty when I did try it on. The faux fur hood attachment was taken off immediately as the hood is too roomy and the fur obscured my vision except for my toes. An extra woolen hat or head band would help fill up the space and make the hood fit better. Being an older, more hip-wide woman, I found the bottom part a bit snug. I would be nice to have a more "womanly" selection when it comes to sizing. Extra lg doesn't mean extra tall, broader shoulders and longer arms. How about - "robust hip" sizes. We're all different. January 21, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by turbodown warmth! Living in Pa and finally getting a minus 2 below 0 with the wind chill I have worn the coat for the 1st time after getting it. Warmest coat I ever got! Absolutely love it. Fits true to size I would buy. Can't say enough how much I love it. No chill comes through. The hood is a bit flimsy but nothing a scarf or something around the neck can't fix. Highly recommend this! Would love to own 2 different colors! January 12, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Womans Barlo Pass Jacket There were only size larges available in this jack so I was a bit skeptical when I ordered it, but upon arrival I was quite pleased with the fit, it has a nice pull on the inside so you can sinch the waist The back of the jacket is longer and covers your assets nicely,The hood also has adjustable straps so you can control how far it covers your face, I love this jacket it looks great and is very warm January 6, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by My favorite coat! This is my third Columbia coat and it is by far my favorite. It's so warm and looks great! January 5, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by this coat goes casual to too cute . getting many complements. I 'm very satisfied with the styling of this coat . January 4, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fit and warmth notes FIT: I am 5'9 and 123 lbs. Initially ordered the XS which I returned because the width of the shoulders was a bit small and the material cut into my armpits. Exchanged for a small and it fits well. Definitely good for tall, slim girls as the arms and body are long. The arm length of the small is perfect (XS would have worked but the small covers my wrists even when stretching my arm and pulling the coat material). XS also would have been fine around the body; just the armpit and shoulder areas were tight. WARMTH: I believe this will be very warm. I am ALWAYS cold and this has kept me comfortable in 30 degree weather and I need to take it off when inside shopping for more than 5 minutes. Haven't had a chance to test it out in colder weather but I've stayed warmer in 30 degree weather than I have in any other jacket I've owned. Was lusting over a Canada Down jacket but I'm very happy with this budget friendly alternative. The omni heat must be working! January 2, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by fantastic coat I recently moved from a warmer climate to northern colorado and needed a very warm coat, but didn't want a tacky looking huge one. This jacket is perfect! It keeps wind, snow, rain, and coldness out completely. I'm most comfortable when the outdoor temp is around 90 degrees, but with just a little jacket underneath or even only a long sleeve shirt under this jacket, I can walk downtown or on a mountain in the single digit temps and actually be comfortable and enjoy my time outside all year!!! Plus the olive color goes with nearly anything and I get tons of compliments on it. December 31, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love! Got this jacket as a gift and couldn't be happier. I live in MN and am always cold! This jacket is so toasty warm. It's very flattering because the sides can cinch, so you don't feel boxy. Would like a little different structure on the front pockets (you have to put your hands in straight down and not by your hips like most jackets), but that is really minor. Love it! December 28, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Almost perfect This is a warm, stylish (as much as an insulated coat can be) coat. However, it's just too short for a New England winter. If it were 5 inches longer, it would be perfect. I need to return it and settle for something a little uglier, but a lot more practical. I'll keep my fingers crossed for Columbia to make a longer version one day! December 22, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by WARNING: NOT FOR SMALLER/ PETITE WOMEN This jacket is excellent quality and appears to be extremely warm. I'm not knocking that. Just wanted to let other buyers know about the fit. I am 105 lbs, 5'2 and this jacket is SWIMMING on me. The sleeves are way too long, the neck is way too high (it almost covers my entire face when zipped up) and I'd need about 5 jackets underneath for it not to be bagging off of me. I wish there was an XXS size and a Petite option. Unfortunately sizes have changed so much over the years, and this jacket likely would have been a S or Medium about 10 years ago. Smaller women like myself are getting sized out :( Please accommodate us too! Every body type deserves to be warm. I'd say it's "true to size" for current standards, seeing as XS is actually much larger than it used to be for every brand. *I bought another XS jacket and it's just as big. So this review applies to all Columbia women's XS jackets. December 21, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazingly warm This is by far the warmest winter coat I've ever owned. It's a little longer and covers your butt without being a "long" jacket. I highly recommend when it dips below 20. It might actually be TOO warm if it's warmer than that. December 18, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by I get excited to wear this thing!! I couldn't wait for this coat to arrive and, when it did, I was super impressed. This coat is so warm, super functional, long enough to cover my behind, and really nice quality. It's perfect for Wisconsin winter and snowshoeing! December 18, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Just the coat I wanted! I had been looking for a coat, but was having a difficult time while living overseas finding what I wanted and one that fit. I came across this coat and it was just what I wanted. I am 5'8", 150 lbs. I ordered the large which is a little big, but leaves me plenty of layering room. I like being able to cinch in the sides for a more fitted appearance. The hood comes very far forward, sometimes hard to see, but great for blocking wind. The coat is very warm. I got to test it out in about 20 degree weather and it kept me nice and toasty. The only cold parts were anything the coat didn't cover. As for color, I was hoping for black and went with the India Ink based on other reviews I read. The color, however, is more of a dark navy blue than black. While not exactly what I was looking for, its not a big enough deal for me to return. The only part I'm not crazy about are the front pockets. I would be nice to have a slanted pocket that I could put my hands in as the current styling features a rectangular pocket with the opening straight up. Once again, not a big enough deal since I wear gloves and can access them if really needed. I definitely recommend this coat! December 17, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by This Coat Met My Expectations!!! I love this coat!! It is warm, stylish, flattering and not too bulky. I am very satisfied with this purchase!!! December 14, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love it! I bought this jacket a few weeks ago, and I am so glad I did. I live in Portland, OR, and we have been having crazy rain lately, but it is also REALLY cold -- the bone chilling kind. This coat has been a lifesaver. Not only is it waterproof, it is also really warm AND is longer than a regular coat, so it protects more of my body from the wind and rain! The biggest downsides to this coat that I have seen so far is that the arms are a little long, and I wish the pockets were a little different (or that they had another pocket from the side that goes behind the front pocket). It is also a little poofy, but it's a heavy winter coat, so I'm not sure how what else to expect. I am relatively petite, but I'm a little bigger on bottom. I went for a M over a small because it seemed to give me a little more room to move around. The pros definitely outweigh the cons, and there are cinches in the sides to help cut down on the poofiness. As far as the hood being useless, I haven't found that to be the case. There are cords on the sides of the hood to tighten it down, and you can remove the fur part if you are so inclined. I have gotten great compliments on this each time I have worn it! It was a great buy. December 14, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Super warm I bought this coat for Minnesota winters which are typically bitterly cold, windy, and snowy. So far we've had a pretty mild winter this season and its a bit overkill for warmth, but is really comfortable for early morning and late evening dog walks. The coat is so warm that its not suited for activities like shoveling since all of your warm is reflected back at you. But its great for leisurely walks on cold days. I originally bought a large based on some of the other Columbia styles, but the arm holes were too tight and the bottom of the coat was a little snug when sitting. The XL works great for me and these two problem areas are no longer a problem. Customer service was amazing in helping me with the return and purchasing the replacement using the friends and family code I used on the original purchase. Now that I have the right size my only criticism is that the hip pockets aren't really user friendly. They look cute with nothing in them but with a small pair of knit gloves they are kind of bulging. I can't really keep my mittens in these pockets which is unfortunate since that's what I'm used to doing in winter. December 14, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love! I absolutely love this jacket! It fits true to size. I'm 6 ft. tall and 150 lbs. The medium fits me perfectly. I'm glad I read the reviews before buying because they were right about the black really bring grey. However that is what I wanted. Also the reviews about the pockets are true. They are a little awkward to put your hands in when the jacket is zipped. But, this is not an issue when wearing it open. I'm very happy with this purchase! It's incredibly warm and fits me great! December 13, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Deb has a new Warm Coat! I love this coat it does run a little small but still fits and is WARM Now I am just waiting for the weather to get really cold :) December 12, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Overall, an excellent coat Let me start off by saying how cold and wet Chicago gets. I wanted a heavy duty coat without the bulkiness and something fashionable. I made a lot of research and I ended up with this. The inner lining is very breathable yet the outer coat is very waterproof. The down is also very very warm. I found the length of this coat to be perfect for someone my height (5"2). Anything longer will make you look like a troll. As for the color, I went in store and tried all 3 colors on: GO FOR INDIA INK! The "black" is really grey and boring looking... In terms of fit, I found the sleeves to be incredibly long. When you lay it flat, the sleeves are actually just as long as the jacket. I hope Columbia will fix this. I also thought the fit was large, so for someone 5"2 and 120lbs, I wished there was a XXS. As for functionality, I thought the front pockets were awkwardly placed! Wished that the opening was not parallel to the coat, but parallel to how your hand extends to the side. December 9, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent coat This coat is made very well with elegant cuts and seams to make it very functional. Coat is light weight and stuffable yet extremely warm. I highly recommend this coat for form, function, and aesthetic. Excellent coat. December 8, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by I wanted to love it I really wanted this jacket to work but unfortunately I think I will have to return it. I am 5 feet tall and have a petite frame so I ordered the XS, which was actually a better fit than I expected but the shoulders and top half was just too bulky. As other reviewers said, the hood is basically useless which is really unfortunate! It is quite heavy but seems like a solid jacket that would have keep me warm this Boston winter if it was a better fit. December 5, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Sleek... Functional... Mine! This jacket isn't too fancy, but isn't too casual. I'm not used to spending more than $200 on a jacket, but I figured I'd invest in something that's so important with our winters. It's exactly what I was looking for! (even though it's been pretty mild lately) I spend a lot of time in and waiting inside & outside, so something warm but not bulky was important to me. It was about 30-34 degrees this morning and I decided to go get some coffee a few blocks away. Being the cold person I am, I put on a fleece underneath and it still was pretty comfy, with room to spare. Getting coffee took only 10 minutes, but I was sweating on my walk back. I loved it! Like, I probably could've gone away with just my tank underneath & still would have been comfortable. Really, seriously, I'm almost always cold! Needless to say, an extra layer underneath, probably was unnecessary. Things I'm not too crazy about: The pockets are only good for thinner items, (had I got a small, it could be too big and not as fit as I would want) it can make it a bit tough to crouch down, to tie my shoes, or go pick up things. I only had my phone in one pocket and my overfull zip wallet in the other, so I think if the pockets were placed differently, it would be a different story. Maybe it's just me! Although, the inner pocket fit my iPhone 6s plus, perfectly! It doesn't bother me that much, I just have to mostly empty my pockets when I sit in the car. Things I love: Being less than 5 ft tall & 115 lbs, I'm smaller on top and bigger (wider) on bottom (no big booty here, it's all hips). The ties on the sides lay flat, but allow ample adjustment for a more fit look, so I don't look like an oompa loompa! It's freaking warm! The hood comes around and covers my face. I don't necessarily have to wear a scarf, even though I love them, I can just throw on the jacket if I'm in a rush. Omni-heat, where have you been all my life! Other, little details I appreciate all over. Those zipper pulls though! Solely based on these, I wanted the India Ink jacket, for contrast, but that creme collar would rub all over my face and get immediately dirty and full of foundation. I opted for the "Black,"charcoal grey. I'm slightly disappointed that the outer , upper pockets were metal and the full jacket zipper is plastic. The back rounded hem/penguin tail detail is refreshing, compared to common square, less flattering forms. Hidden snaps help keep warmth and wind at bay.... Seriously, I could go on. Regardless, I love it. December 5, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by WOMEN’S BARLOW PASS 550 TURBODOWN™ JACKET Absolutely a wonderful coat. Super warm, you can't beat 550 classification. True to the discription. Unfortunately the price is a little hight, but the quality is outstanding. Truly worth the purchase and I would purchase again December 3, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love this coat! I am one of those weird in between sizes, so I bought a medium, and it fits very well. It has been a long time since I have bought a new coat and I have never owned a Columbia before. There is no doubt that I will keep buying my winter gear from you! I am toasty warm! And I love the way it looks too! November 29, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Cute, may not fit my needs. I travel a lot between Alaska, Boise, ID, eastern Idaho... So I cover both mild and extreme winter climates. I love how small this coat packs down, but it is a lot thinner than it looks to be in the photos, I was expecting a more heavy duty parka. I level around thanksgiving in Boise I was shivering after being outside for more than five minutes. If you really layered up and had some good insulation on your bottom half, this would be ok for walking around. As far as quality, I always have tiny feathers sticking into my clothes after I take this off, and I'm usually dressed nicer and going to fancier activities so t is frustrating. It may not be bulky, however the collar is designed to protect your neck (and chin?) when zipped up, but when you don't have it zipped up, it is very stiff around your face so nobody can hear you when you speak and it's frustrating trying to look to your side or shoulder check when driving, that kind of thing. So it's very cute, cozy, but with some frustration. I guess I'd say it kind of looks overkill worn in the mild weather it can stand up against, but performs below par in parka weather. November 28, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Turbodown women's jacket I love this product!!!!! It is very warm and true to it's function. I have no complaints at all and I will be a future customer. Also I am buying these jackets for my family members for Christmas. November 22, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Disappointing Let me start off by saying that I really wanted to love this jacket. After doing an extended amount of research to find something that would fit my style and budget, I finally decided to go with this model in Peatmoss. I was spending a bit more than planned for something that promised extreme warmth and fit the look I wanted. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed when I put this jacket on. Some of my cons may be pros for others, so please read on. - My main qualm: I am 5'7 and have not had this problem in the past, but the sleeves on this were VERY long. This made them pucker up and gave a much bulkier look than intended or desired. So despite the body being less bulky, the sleeves ruined the overall look and gave me kind of a body builder shape. - I actually liked the matte look, but it made the jacket stiff and uncomfortable for everyday wear. - The placement and shape made it impossible to put my hands in the pockets. - I was hoping for a fuller-looking fur trimming, but it was quite sparse making it look cheap. Overall, this jacket did not work for me, but I liked the leather detailing, color, the fact that I could adjust the waist and wrist width, as well as the less bulky look than most warm jackets that I've tried. If you are a tall girl, maybe give it a try. I will be weary of buying coats online going forward. November 17, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by stylish and warm I ordered the India Ink and the color is really nice. The coat is warm and a little heavy, but it's fabulous. The only negative, which really isn't a negative is that the wrist and neck is a little small, you can't wear anything colored with the jacket. November 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Winter Coat Pros: -very warm, not too bulky, nice length (I'm 5'7" 120 lbs and wear a small) -fur trim attaches with buttons, and the buttonholes in the hood lining are not noticeable when detached, for those of us who don't like the faux fur look. -fleece lined front pockets -all closures are zippers or snaps, no velcro Cons: -"black" is not black, but dark gray. It's a nice color, but the name is misleading -it's a little awkward to keep your hands in the front pockets, although the tops are slightly slanted so it could be worse -no thumbholes in the sleeve ribbing - some Columbia coats have this feature but this one doesn't November 13, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Warm and cozy This is the best winter coat I have owned, warm and cozy but not bulky. True to size fit and the removable fur is a great feature. November 11, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice, warm coat This is a warm, well fitting coat that will be great for this winter when the temperature drops to zero or below here in Minnesota. The one thing I can't figure out is how to keep the hood up. There does not seem to be a drawstring to tighten to keep it from falling off my head. Also, it seems to run a little larger than other coat brands that I tried on. November 4, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good Clouthes It's good and excellent, but during the ceremory of 100 anniversary there is no discount. October 25, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Love it I'm a slim 5'9" and got a size small. Was nervous at first that the sleeves would be too short or it wouldn't cover my bum (tall girl problems) but it fits perfectly and I still have enough room to layer. The only thing that would make this coat any better is if the hood were detachable and if the black color were actually black since it's really more of a dark metallic gray. October 15, 2015
