Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice coat but a little too tight I was anxious when I received my package from Columbia to try this coat. Love the color, not as bright as it looked online, and that it is long enough to cover my tush without being a long coat. Unfortunately it is too tight across the chest and upper arm areas for me. Will be returning and trying a different coat. September 28, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Jacket Great jacket. Just wished it offered more colors even though the color I ordered is okay. April 20, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fashion & Function I've worn it for winter travel all season. Keeps me warm and dry, and cute. I'm 5'9", 170 lbs and the XL feels like it was made just for me. Sleeves are perfect length and it covers my bum. Would be great if the hand warmer pockets were a little deeper. Love this coat! March 2, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Happy Customer I love this jacket! I live in Upstate New York and it has kept me warm during this current winter. The length is exactly what I was looking for. I am 5'4" and it sits at about my mid thigh, a little bit above the knee but covers my entire rear which is what I wanted. It is very comfortable. The jacket is not too heavy and does not make me feel like a marsh mellow. The hood is a tad too big, but I have a small head. Overall very pleased with this purchase! February 18, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product Everything was as described. February 15, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by stylish and outdoorsy! I am really enjoying this Carson Pass jacket! I have a severe weather parka I wanted something a little lighter. This is it, such a nice mid weight and warmth and that's exactly what I wanted. Not too bulky, keeps me warm, dry, it's wind resistant, and it looks great! Lots of compliments! I am very happy I bought this coat! It's a must to complete your winter wear wardrobe! Yes, I recommend this coat February 3, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by great features the coat is great. would like that with the money spent that you would get free shipping. January 30, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Love it Very warm and love all the pockets. January 28, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great I've loved this coat. It's been perfect for me so far; it's kept me warm (even though we've only had temps down in the teens so far). It's kept me dry in the rain and protected me from wind. It's not too heavy either, which has been great. I'm pretty cold natured, so I've loved having this coat so far this winter season. While the coat runs true to size, I would recommend sizing up to have room for any bulky clothing underneath. If you're like me, you may wear lots of layers. So I got a medium to have room for sweaters or even a lighter jacket under this coat if it gets really cold. January 26, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love! I love this coat!!!! It keeps me very very warm!! January 25, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love my new Columbia! I just purchased this coat and I'm very happy with it. I am 5'5 129 lbs (slim/muscular build) and the small fits perfect, even with a sweater. I actually tried on a medium, as usually I need a little room when wearing bulkier sweaters, but it felt much too big. I live in Milwaukee, WI and needed something a little warmer after my Old Navy parka, from a year or two ago, didn't cut it during our recent Arctic blast. January 20, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by great styling, armholes too small Really wanted to keep this jacket for a ski trip - had all the features I was looking for. However the armholes are just too small for layering. Going to a bigger size makes the rest too big - looks like a sack that doesn't fit January 20, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Halliday I love the Carson pass coat because it keeps me warm and I don't need an extra layer under this coat because of the omni heat layer January 20, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by I Love this coat! Just moved to Indiana from Portland, OR and realized none of my casual jackets/coats were going to cut the mustard for the winter temps here. I've owned a Columbia coat of one type or another for 21 years (currently I own five, each with for a different purpose!) and have loved them all. Usually I have to get a Large because I have broad shoulders. Tried this coat on in a L and there was surprisingly more room in the shoulders and body than normal but decided to stay with this size to have room for sweaters. Lots of nice features. Two interior pockets, three exterior pockets, knit cuffs to keep out the cold, berber fleece lined neck and hood, removable fur if you're not into that type of thing. Omni heat in the sleeves too, so you will stay toasty and omni shield which keeps out the wind/precipitation. Two things I don't care for...(1) the belt but it helps to keep the warmth in so buckle up! and (2) the hood is fairly bulky so when I'm driving I feel like I really have to look past my left shoulder farther to make sure I can safely switch lanes. Was able to purchase this on sale so I was thrilled with the price. It's in the low 20s here and I've walked the dog in it a few times and have stayed plenty warm. I'm sure it will perform as the temps lower. Love Columbia, love this coat! January 17, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not good in Alberta cold Love the style of this coat it is very pretty and fits great but it's so cold. It's more of a late fall jacket. Not made for Fort McMurray weather. January 16, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Disappointing warmth This coat did not hold up below 25 degrees F. It was only warm after I layered another whole fleece beneath it! I live in MN and this did not cut it at all for me. It's a cute coat, and I get lots of compliments on the belt, size, and color. Size M for 5'3 135 lbs is perfect. But if you get it expect to have to layer other things beneath...:-/ I wanted a coat I could throw on over regular clothes. This is not even as warm as my wool peacoat! January 14, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Great Jacket-Be Careful of the size I am 5'5 128 lbs, and have broad shoulders. Based on a few reviews I thought the small would fit me. When I tried it on, the inseam near the armpit was tight and the shoulders were a bit snug. The arm length was perfect and the jacket itself seemed to fit fine except for those two issues. I will be returning this size and I have placed another order for a size medium. Will keep you posted. January 14, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not warm I love the fit of the coat but am very disappointed that this doesn't keep me warm. I live in ND and we have had a very mild winter here so far. Even on days when it has been above 30 degrees my arms become chilly in this coat. Where is the warmth??? I like the coat and unfortunately since you have to wear the coat to know if it performs I cant take it back. January 3, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Color issue The color from the on line screen is not similar the actual goods. The actual goods is like grey not like the screen color "Mineshaft". I'm disappointed the color"Mineshaft". I think it should be more like brown color on goods. December 27, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Stylish but not as warm as I expected I live in central WI and am a person that loves the outdoors but unfortunately gets cold easy. I have always been a lover of down coats but don't like the bulk that comes with them. I figured I'd give this a try since it is so much thinner. I love the way the coat looks but am disappointed in how warm it keeps me. It is very nice for mildly cold weather (25-40 degrees and not a lot of wind) but when it is truly cold I am definitely not warm enough. I think I will go back to a down coat next time. December 19, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Happy! Happy! Happy! with my new Columbia Bought the Carson Pass II to replace my 22 year old Columbia!(still in great condition) purchased to endure cold Idaho winters while attending college. So far this coat does not disappoint! Like the sleeves having an inner lining for extra warmth, I am petite and can roll the sleeves slightly and it doesn't look messy, lots of well-thought out details related to pockets, zippers, has Columbia written on shoulder instead of front, length is just right to keep my backside warm but not too long to look frumpy. Hood has great coverage and is warm and comfortable, love the fleece at the neck for warmth and softness. Spot on design! Love the attention to detail! December 14, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Jacket Not bulky but very warm! I ordered black and the colour is actually not black but more of a charcoal grey. But it's quite nice. December 10, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Runs small, like a Medium I ordered this jacket and a coat during Black Friday sale online, great prices! When I received them and tried them on, it felt like a medium. I normally get my coats and jackets in a XL in case I want to wear a sweater. Both were too small to even zip up, and the selection of plus sizes are not so great. I had to retune both and lose my deals :-(  December 8, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Classy & outdoorsy all in one! Purchased this coat last year, in a size small, as XS was sold out. I was so disappointed when it didn't fit that I just returned it and froze all winter. I did select "runs slightly large," but that's just a heads up for the very petite women like myself. I am 100 pounds and five feet tall, and the XS fits well with comfortable room for a sweater/light fleece underneath. I would assume for average-sized women with boobs (lol) it does fit true to size. This is definitely suitable for winter and snow, it is a heavy duty coat disguised as something cute and classy (referring to brutal NW Ohio winters-- my freshman year of college, my city was the coldest in the country!!) With a nice hat and scarf and sweater underneath, this coat will keep you warm and dry, walking to class, walking the dog, exploring a park, etc,. The flint grey is wonderful; a "greige" color that goes well with anything and a welcome contrast to ALL the black coats I see. This is the first nice coat I've ever purchased, I am hopeful it will last awhile. Thank you, Columbia! Looking forward to enjoying my winter and getting outdoors instead of just hibernating till spring comes. December 3, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by STYLISH AND WARM! Thank you COLUMBIA! This is the jacket I've been searching for!!! I absolutely love the style and it's nice and warm - yes! It fits me perfectly and gives me the confidence I need to get outside this Winter! I'm so happy with all the pockets because they are the perfect size for my new iPhone 6s Plus! November 20, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by nice coat I just purchased this coat in an XL and it fits great, I like the belt with it also. It makes the coat look nicer. I haven't worn it yet cuz it hasn't been that cold so I don't know how warm it will keep me. But overall glad I bought this. November 18, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great jacket! I saw this jacket online and I went into the store to try it on and fell in love with it. I am from Michigan and it is definitely not suitable for a michigan winter, however it's perfect for fall or spring and SUPER flattering. It has omni-heat technology so if you tend to be warm often, it will keep you warmer than someone who is always chilly. This jacket would be a great barrier if you had a thick sweater underneath it. I am 5'4 and 130lbs and I usually wear a size 2-4 and I got a small and there's room for a sweater or hoodie underneath. November 15, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Runs small I bought this coat in Large for my daughter, who is a size 12. It was too small, though, and I had to return it. I'm waiting for an XL. November 14, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by England I got this coat to go to England in December. I am not there yet but know already that this coat will be perfect. It's warm and keeps you dry. I think the quality is really great. It is the nicest coat I own in terms of functionality. I love all of the pockets. The fit is true to size. I am normally a medium but I am pregnant so I got a large. I have room to grow and I am tall so the arms fit perfect. November 11, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by nice winter coat, not too bulky I reviewed the other comments regarding this coat and followed the advise to order one size up. I am 5ft, 3in and 145 lbs. I ordered a large and it fits perfectly. This coat is flattering and not too bulky as other winter coats can be. Often times when I order a larger size, the sleeves are too long, but this was not the case with this coat. I have not yet worn it in "winter conditions" but I am certain that it will be just fine. I have another Columbia coat with the "Omni-heat" insulation and it is very warm, so I feel this one will be similar. November 5, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by I love this jacket! I absolutely love this jacket! This is my second Carson Pass jacket. My first jacket is now too large for me due to a 30 lb. weight loss, so of course I have to replace the jacket with a new one in a smaller size. This jacket is warm (because of the omni-heat) and has kept me warm during the brutal Chicago winter last year. This is my go-to jacket. Kudos to you, Columbia, you have a winner here! October 29, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by excellent jacket My girlfriend loves this jacket says its very very warm good movability and very nice looking October 25, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by beautiful coat I ended up sending this coat back but only because I thought it would be too warm for what I was going to use it for. It was really lovely but I was looking for more of a rain and wind resitant coat to take to Iceland in September. I ended up buying a 3:1 exchangable coat. Good looking coat. September 27, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Would have been a good purchase but... I got this jacket last year from a sports store and was so excited to try it out my second cold winter in central Alberta. I love Columbia for outdoor wear but I have to say that I am quite disappointed in this product.. I was fairly cold in it most of the winter. I usually buy a size up, especially in jackets, because I like to put another layer or two underneath. I would highly recommend buying true to your size. I feel that with the reflective layer inside it needs to be pretty close to your body in order to work properly. I've only worn the jacket a handful of times because last winter was actually warmer than the last one, so I just relied on my old jacket to get the job done. The jacket is still in good condition and would really appreciate an exchange or credit if at all possible, especially for the price that it is. September 13, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by I love this coat! I am so glad I went with this coat! There were a few I was deciding between and the other reviews I read on here helped me to decide on this one. It is the warmest coat I have ever owned and not bulky at all. Actually right after I got my coat we dipped down to -0 temps and it did awesome!! I have to walk outside for work, so this coat definitely made me happy! I am tall and was concerned about arm length....now based on other reviews I was going to order a medium, but I ordered a large because medium was sold out. So glad I got the large because the arm length is perfect...I have some room in the body but nothing too big. I am 5'11" and 170...usually wear medium/large shirts, have a large bust, and size 10 pants if that helps anyone. The hood on this coat has worked great, the only part of the coat I didn't care for was the belt...it's not ideal for on and off situations. I just took it off and the coat is still super cute and very flattering. March 4, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by NEW WINTER STAPLE! LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS JACKET. I was looking for a warm, yet sleek jacket. All my winter coats are so bulky they made me look 20lbs bigger and I couldn't carry my son in his bjorn. This jacket is perfect, nice lean fit but still very warm. classic, a must have! January 30, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very Happy I bought this coat about a month ago and I love it. I tend to be cold and this has been a wonderful and stylish way to stay warm. I'm going to be bummed when I have to put it away for the warmer months. December 31, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by best coat in this winter Love this coat so much, great quality, great looking, inexpensive price, very warm, really so perfect. I have tried so many coat from different brands, this is the best. So happy and lucky to own it. Thanks for Columbia. December 23, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by The intersection of fashion and function I love this coat so much I find myself doing little fashion shows in the mirror at home lol. I ordered an XL as I am 5'4 and about 175 lbs with wide hips. It's the perfect length and I can layer underneath and still keep the slim fit, no bulk. Temperatures have been steady around 30 F in Boston and so far it's kept me perfectly warm, day or night. No confirmation on how it holds up in lower Temps yet but I am confident that it will. The omni heat definitely makes it different (re: better) from other coats I've had in that as soon as you slip it on, you can feel the heat generating inside instantaneously. Highly recommended! December 19, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by The best jacket It is so much more than just a jacket. I wanted something that covered hips and little more, waterproof, and warm and met all those needs and more. Lots of roomy pockets one on outside of chest that iPod fits perfectly easy to get to. Long sleeve shirt or maybe fleece shirt (colder days) underneath. I searched for several days locally and internet and found this perfect. Price is excellent. So glad I got it. Love it. December 19, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love The Details So far I'm in love with this jacket. I love the well thought out details. It has great pockets. The construction of the jacket is pretty amazing. The fit it very flattering. I live in Chicago so I haven't put it to the test with the ultra extreme cold weather we get, but so far I'm pleased with the warmth and it's been in the 20's. December 19, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing! This is the best jacket I have ever owned. It's warm and has a ton of pockets! December 19, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fashionable and Warm This is my second omniheat jacket, I got my first last year and it survived an usually cold WI winter so I decided to get another one that is longer. I love that this doesn't look like your typical bulky winter coat, however is warmer than most down coats. I also love that this is water resistant with a hood(minus the fur), great for 40 degree rainy days .I'm 5'2 and it comes about mid thigh. I like be able to wear heavy sweaters underneath and still have some room to move so I got a large. I weigh 130 and would typically get a medium, but the large is perfect, not too big. I have found that Columbia runs small in the chest and butt areas. I usually wear 6P pants and only a 34C for reference, maybe I just like things a littler looser. December 17, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect in Minnesota, USA winter! online purchased this coat and a 32" long down coat from a certain brand rhyming with ..snorthface. I was worried the omniheat wouldnt be warm enough compared to the down. received both coats and the columbia omniheat was way warmer. BTW we have ice covered everything and average of about 0 degrees right now in MN. I wear just a tshirt underneath and am walking around outside for probably 20 minutes each time multiple times a day commuting. SO WARM. secondly, im 6 ft. tall and 150 lbs. finding ANYTHING as a tall thin woman is very hard. I always have a problem with womens coats having too short of sleeves and bodies, and too tiny of shoulders requiring me to buy an XL when my body fits in a small. I purchased a Medium in this coat and the other brand's. This coat fits me perfectly, the back just covers my butt. the other coat wouldnt even go on (both sites sized me as a medium via size chart). I do a lot of outdoor skiing, walking, and just standing around waiting for the train. This coat keeps me almost TOO warm, and fits so amazingly I can't believe it. I will be a lifelong columbia customer. I will also say the other coat was 300 while this was 170. this one was of much better quality. I sew and have been a tailor for 2 years; I can definitely see quality in material, stitching, and especially zippers. Ive rarely ever had columbia coats in my shop compared to other brands and I can tell ill never have to bring this one to work. it's exceptional quality for a low price considering the market. December 5, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Makes you look good, perfect shape I first wanna to purchase a winter outwear from The North Face, but almost all winter outwear make you look like a huge bear in it. But, this one does not. The belt and design makes you look perfect. Besides, really water proof and keep you warm. Loving it. The only reason I do not give it 5 stars is because it is not pure black, not as seen from the picture, actually, the picture from zappos can be more realistic. I am not very in to this black. Suggestion on size: I am 5'8'', 140 lbs. November 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great winter coat for PNW Love having a stylish jacket that is functional and SO warm. Lots of internal and external pockets without being bulky, I appreciate that the fur lining on the hood is detachable and that I can unzip from the bottom for access to internal pockets. Really happy with my purchase ! November 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by My go to jacket for low temps I'm originally from SoCal and this is my second winter. I've been looking for a jacket that is perfect for temps below 45 degrees in rain, dry, and windy conditions. Amazingly, this jacket kept me warm in temps to the low 20's, with high winds, and all I had under was a lightweight fleece top. My legs and face were freezing, but not my upper body. I am 5'1" and 165lbs. I typically am between a medium and large in Columbia jackets. I bought the large so I could layer if needed, it fits perfectly and I don't need to layer. I am short, so the arms are a bit long, but I like that it covers my behind. Also, love that it has two zippers so when I sit down, I can unzip the bottom portion so the jacket doesn't bunch. I have broad shoulders and the armpit area is a tad tight, but otherwise, everything else is comfortably loose. I don't use the belt, but I like having it in case I want to accentuate my waist, without having the jacket be fitted. I also like that this jacket is more fashionable and not techy. Great to wear for any occasion. Love all the pockets! The fur works great in the wind. I take it off when it rains though, not sure how it'll hold up and don't want to chance it. This is definitely my go to jacket when temps get below 40-45 degrees. November 27, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by I like it! I've worn it only twice but I really like this coat. Very warm. I love the cuffs on the sleeves, and the inside pockets are great. I got a small which is what I wear in the Mighty Lite jacket and it fits well. Just maybe a bit big through the waist but the sleeve length is perfect. Just so you know, I got the brown (mineshaft) but it's more of a brownish gray color. If you're looking for a chocolate brown coat, this isn't it.The only reason I gave the function a 4 is because it's a bit stiff but I think it will soften up with more wear. November 26, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This jacket is amazing I love in northern canada and just received this jacket today and I am amazed!! I'm 5 foot 10, 130 pounds and usually wear a size 2. I have really long legs (36 inseam) and long arms. I ordered the small and was worried the sleeves wouldn't be long enough but they are perfect, I was actually pretty surprised but thankful of course! The belt in really nice too and it covers my butt. Theres also lots of pockets which is good. I highly recommend this jacket November 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by love this jacket I usually don't write reviews but I love this jacket so much!! I am 6'0 tall and have a hard time finding jackets that have long enough sleeves and fit in the shoulders, this jacket fits perfectly! highly recommended! November 10, 2014
