Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 55 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome Jacket! This might be the best jacket ever. I love the Omni Heat technology. The fit works well for those of us blessed to have hips, especially with the curved side seam at the base of the jacket. It has become my go-to for all weather. September 24, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very warm, not bulky, quality lacks I found this to be true to size, if not a bit large. I wear a 22-24 and ordered a 3x. I think it's a bit too roomy in the chest/midsection, although I find it a little snug in the shoulders. (I don't generly wear layers or thick clothes underneath). It's a very warm jacket, although you need to have it on for a second to let your body heat warm it up. I've been wearing this in a pretty cold Buffalo NY winter, and I've found it to be too hot to put on until the front door is open. Sleeves are a touch too short to use the thumb holes. I have a lot of loose threads and stitching (right out of the box), and the pocket zippers get stuck on the pocket lining fabric Every. Single. Time. The fit is flattering, and I'm allergic to down, so im happy to find a warm coat that looks good, even if I have needed to re-sew much of it in only two months :p January 22, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Makes a Rubenesque woman look like a WOMAN! The darting really accents your figure. I usually wear a 20W and I ordered a 2X. With anything more than a long sleeve T, it's a little snug. My husband complimented me on it. The only down fall is it could be a little bit longer in the torso. January 7, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Goodbye, Bulky! Yessss! A large winter jacket that looks feminine (on me, at least). The fit is good and I'm glad I ordered a size larger. It's very toasty without the bulk so don't be fooled by its appearance. The ease of movement, while wearing it, is akin to wearing a sweatshirt. It's functional and it looks great on me! I'm so pleased with this purchase. December 26, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Pricey So-So Jacket The jacket did not meet my expectations. The shell was layered and did not make the appearance I desired. After seeing the jacket I realized that there are competitive jackets from other manufacturers that are much less expensive, so I returned the jacket. December 19, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Women's Kaleidaslope ll jacket I love this jacket it's light weight and keeps me warm from the wind and cold. Just LOVE IT! December 18, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Warm, but very lightweight I really like this jacket. It seems to add considerable warmth while still being thin and comfortable. I'm glad I sized up because it definitely runs a little on the small side. December 12, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by love this jacket This jacket was exactly what I was looking for and the quality I have come to expect from Columbia. I like that it is light weight but still keeps me warm in the North Dakota winter. I don't care for the thumb hole but really like the extra length it gives to the sleeves. December 10, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Jacket, TRUE TO SIZE I originally bought a size up because everyone had mentioned how this ran small. When it arrived, it was VERY LARGE. I would recommend ordering the size you usually wear to avoid having to return/exchange. December 3, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Bummer... There is so much I really like about this jacket -- lightweight, attractive styling, sleeves that are long enough...I was so disappointed that it was not as warm as expected and what was needed. I'm very sorry I had to send back as there was so much I liked about it....had to get me through the winter in New England and it just wasn't warm enough. Sleeves are snug.... November 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Warm without being Bulky If you like a nice light coat that blocks the wind this is the one you are after. I hate to even call it light because it is a warm winter coat without the bulk! I am outside at work everyday walking from hangar to hangar and it can be cold and breezy. I really love this coat! November 28, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Strange outer material By strange, I mean that it rips/tears very easily. I bought this coat last year in navy blue. I have dogs and one of their nails tore the arm of the coat, in the puffy part. Not even close to the seam. When it's cold out the material becomes almost brittle. It does keep you warm though, thru a cold Chicago winter. It runs a bit big, so it's great for layering. If you have animals, are near animals, are close to bush/tree branches, I would steer clear of this coat. Even looking at it cross eyed may cause the coat to tear. Alas, I just returned the same coat in raspberry, thinking they may have changed the material. No such luck. Note: If you need to return/exchange an item beware, you pay return shipping. November 26, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Hardworking jacket in a small package I got this in a 2x and I love it! It's my go-to winter coat for all temperatures. Very surprised at the warmth without the bulk. Bonus: it's also machine washable. Comfy, cozy, warm, and stylish. November 17, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Couldn't be happier! Love, love this jacket. It's so light-weight and yet so warm. Since I am a plus size, I'm always cautious about winter jackets adding bulk. This does not. I'm happy I went a size up. It fits perfect now. I love the thumb inserts on the sleeves. The color raspberry is very pretty and not overly bright. I couldn't be happier with this jacket. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Purchase I bought this coat about a month ago. The time it took to arrive was incredibly slow, I shop a lot online and this delivery was longer than most. The weather is not an excuse as I had ordered other items at the same time shipping from general area with fast delivery. Once the coat arrived I was very very pleased. This coat is so light yet very very warm. I wore it over a tee shirt in single digit temps on a trip to the midwest a week ago and it kept me quite warm. I absolutely love this jacket and the Omni Heat material. I also love the comfort cuffs with thumb holes, my wrists are no longer cold. The sleeves are a bit tight but I am a rather heavy person and it is still comfortable but I do not think I would wear anything bulky underneath. The look of the jacket is nice as well. I will purchase more Columbia products in the future. January 26, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by LOVE IT! I purchased this coat based off of so many positive reviews AND because it is animal-friendly (no down/animal products used). Was a little hesitant when the coat arrived and I felt how lightweight it was, however don't let that fool you! Have worn this coat for the past few weeks in single digit temperatures in Michigan, skiing, snow tubing ect. and it is the warmest coat I have ever owned. I also love how it has the lined pockets and inner neckline, very soft and warm. Have also received many compliments on how "cute" it is. I agree with the others who said this coat does run small, I usually wear a 1x and purchased a 3x to be safe. I can wear a sweatshirt underneath it comfortably and still have some extra room. January 25, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Thought it would be warm with the omni heat lining. I purchased this jacket after seeing similar jackets from Columbia on co-workers who said that the jacket was warm. However, I could not find the same jacket the wore. But after reading reviews and temperature challenges other purchasers wore the jacket in I hoped I would be happy. However, it did not meet up to the reviews I read. The size was great and it wasn't bulky, which was one of the reasons for the purchase. We have had some low temperatures in New Jersey as of late, but this jacket did not meet the challenge. I could feel the cold through the jacket. The jacket visually is nice, but does in some aspects look cheap. I don't know if it is related to sizing or just styling and fabric. January 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Jacket! This a great, lightweight way to keep warm. Flattering fit for "extended" sizes. I bought a size up from what I normally wear only to make sure that I could layer underneath it (although, it already keeps you VERY warm). At first I was worried that it would be too big, but - it's perfect! Easy to move around in, and I don't take it off to drive - like I do with other coats. Great buy! January 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love this! Runs a little larger than expected which makes the pattern texture on the outside "not as cool" but comfy & warm. January 11, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by It's a very good product I like this jacket a lot and I find it very comfortable and light to wear but also very warm. I would highly recommend it because it is very elegant and fashionable. January 3, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love the jacket. Love the color. I bought this in Abyss which wasn't available at Cabela's. I wish it had a hood. I would also like to know what products I can purchase that would make it an Interchange piece. I love the Omni-Heat technology. It is a very comfy light-weight winter jacket. January 2, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Jacket! I love this jacket! I got it in Deep Blush and I love it! I love the thumb holes to keep the draft out of your sleeves when you put your gloves over the cuffs. The fleece collar inside was a surprising light gray color, I wish it would have been more charcoal, but it's still beautiful. My only complaint is that I can't wear anything thick under the jacket because the sleeves are a little tight. I purchased this jacket to wear to New York City during a snow storm and it held up perfectly. This jacket kept me warm and toasty all day, I even got a little warm at times. I would definitely recommend going up a size in this jacket. I probably could have worn my traditional size in all other areas of the jacket, but based on other reviews, knew that the sleeves were tight and wanted to make sure it fit. December 31, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Women's Kaleidoscope II-Plus Size This is a fabulous jacket! Light and functional and very warm. Although it may run small in the regular sizes (so I bought big in the extended sizes), it runs VERY TRUE to size in the plus sizes-maybe even a little big. December 30, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Lin17 I love this jacket. It's warm without weight, I can raise the collar against the wind without choking myself, and the collar lining is soft and comfortable. My only complaint is that the zipper often catches on the fabric beneath it, which can be a pain when I'm in a hurry to get out the door. December 24, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Jacket I brought this jacket praying that is was everything it was designed to be. YESS!!!!! I AM PLEASED. I live in Chicago and our winter are very cold and wet so I was purchasing this jacket with the hopes that it will keep me warm and dry. IT DID. I love the style and colr (hot pink) and the arms of the jacket was disgined to keep the cold out while also wearinf gloves. I purchased a 2x just off of what other reviews where saying but I wish I would have gotten a 1x for a little better fits. However, overall this is a great jacket for cold weather and also to keep stylish. FYI the OMNI -HEAT WORKS LIKE MAGIC!!! December 19, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love the comfort cuffs I ordered my jacket in a size larger since many reviews said it runs small. I like to wear a sweater beneath my jacket. It is warm and stylish. I ordered this one in particular because of the comfort cuffs with thumb holes. I have long arms and often cold wrists. Love the cuffs - even if I don't use the thumb holes they keep my wrists warm. Haven't been out in extreme wind and cold, but for shopping and errand running, it is great. December 18, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very Warm and Still Lightweight Very pleased with my new winter coat, it is lightweight so I can move in it unlike most winter wear. It is pretty, great detailed lines, the half gloves in the sleeve also help keep you warm. Excellent coat, worth the money. Thanks. December 15, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not true to size Coat wasn't true to size. Always owned a Columbia jacket and loved them. Sizes are off. Needed a 3x in Columbia when I wear a 1x in other brands December 15, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by warm and comfortable Nice fit and style providing warmth without the bulk of other winter jackets December 15, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Super light weight, but really warm Would have given this 5 stars, but had a little issue witht he sleeves. Overall love the jacket. Needed a jacket to wear to the Macy's Day Parade since it was going to be pretty cold and we would be outside for several hours. It was hard to believe that it would be warm enough considering how light it was, but it kept me very warm. I only wore a light thermal and a light fleece under it. My only complaint is that the sleeve were tight. I ordered a size bigger than I normally would just so that I could put several layers under it. The body of the jacket had more than enough room, and as far as the body of the jacket my regular size would have been fine, but the sleeves would have been way too tight. As it was, the sleeves in the larger size were even tight with really not much underneath. Probably equivilent to a heavy sweater. The cut of the sleeves were not in portion to the body. Other than that loved the jacket. December 13, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by What I was looking for The jacket was a great dark blue color (I purchased the abyss color). It was lighter than I expected and therefore worried it wouldnt be as warm as what I was looking for. However it keeps me plenty warm and I think it will work well as my winter coat. I find that I am sort of between 1x & 2x, and based on the other reviews I went with the larger size. I am glad I did. It fits as I expected, roomy in the right places and something I could wear sweaters under. My only concern is it seems a tad short, even on my short frame, and too loose in the hip area. Although, not to point of making me return it. Overall I am very pleased with this jacket. December 13, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Got today! I got my coat today! Wore it out to run errands immediately... FANTASTIC. First this coat is very lightweight, but don't be fooled, you will be warm! To my surprise, I expected to sweat profusely and never did! I hate coats and I hate wearing them, for me to like a coat it has to be good. I've always bought longer coats being a plus size gal so I was worried about the length until I got it on and might I say it fits and its doesn't get in the way and constrict me like other coats. I especially like the thumb holes, which make it fun and at the same time keep the cold from blowing up your sleeves. My only compliant would be the lack of color choices. I went white and I'm worried about staining or getting it dirty! Ill have to wait and see! This coat does run smaller I wear a 2X shirt and I ordered the coat 3x and I can zip it with a bulky sweatshirt on. This is a great coat, a bit on the expensive side, but you get what you pay for! December 12, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very warm I had second thoughts after purchasing it because it seemed very light but the jacket is very warm n keeps me that way through the cold changing Chicago weather. December 8, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Women's Kaleidaslope II Jacket-Extended Sizes Never have I worn a jacket so light-weight and yet so warm. My eyebrows rose at the price, but once I tried it I became a convert for life. Hoping I can convince my two nieces to spring for jackets for themselves, as they're always cold, and bundled up to the ears when the weather turns chilly. December 8, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Will Keep You Warm I LOVE this coat! When the temps plummeted to the single digits and then below zero in Denver this week I worried this lightweight coat would not keep me warm. WRONG! I LOVE this coat, it's lightweight but the omni-heat will keep you warm. I was warmer when I was done shoveling snow than when I started. Have I mentioned I LOVE this coat?! Great function, great style and great warmth in such a lightweight form. Like other reviewers have stated, the coat does run small. I'm typically a size 2x (20-22) and sized up to a 3x. Fits perfect in the arms and across broad shoulders and chest. I LOVE this coat and bet you will to. It's a great selection for us plus-sized girls - great warmth without great bulk... December 5, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Warm and Toasty in the Snow This coat is true to it's advertising. It has kept me warm and dry in the snow and has more pockets than any other coat I have owned. While it was expensive, it was definitely worth the money. December 2, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by I Love It!!! I love buying Columbia Sportswear clothing cause I know it will last a long, long time. I really love this jacket. It fits perfectly as a short, size 2x. When I zip up it does have a tendency to catch on the inside flap but that's no big deal. It really keeps me warm and is roomy enough to wear a shirt or sweater underneath. December 2, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Sharp looking & very warm I love my new coat. I wanted something that looks sharp and very warm. I got that and more: it is very light weight and not bulky and I love the inside sleeve at the wrist to keep the cold air from going up the sleeves... real pluses! On the down side, I wish it were an inch or two longer, the zipper sometimes catches on the underside flap, and since I don't like to zip it clear up, I need to wear a scarf to keep the cold air from going down at the neck. Over all I love my new coat and hope to wear it for many years. December 1, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love the features Purchased as a Christmas gift for my daughter. I had her try it on and she loves it. Perfect fit and high quality workmanship. December 1, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Much better than expected I love this lightweight jacket, it has replaced my previous Columbia winter coat November 30, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by It is lightweight, warm and looks great. I was looking for a warm jacket to wear in the Northwest winter for a long time and am very happy with my purchase. It is cozy, warm, very comfortable and the size 2x fits me perfectly and allows me to wear a sweater or sweatshirt under it without the sleeves being too tight. I love this jacket! November 20, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Chest area large I ordered a size larger due to people saying it runs small. I think I would have been okay going with my regular size. The coat has lots of room in the chest area for those with an ample bust - which is not me hahaha! The colour is beautiful! Much prettier than it shows online. Despite the fact it's a little big it doesn't bother me enough to return it. I will wear it all winter. November 7, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great medium weight jacket This jacket deserves to have 5 stars but I had to deduct one point for the contrasting faux fur collar. I tend to gravitate toward the understated. All that aside I am excited to find a jacket that is perfect for colder beach days! This jacket did as advertised, kept me warm while wicking the moisture from my beach exercise walk. It is truly light weight, stores easily Note: This jacket is contoured so fits a bit small. I know I could not get a bulky sweater or sweatshirt under it and still zip it closed. February 14, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Light but Cozy I love this jacket! After reading the other reviews I chose to order one size up from my normal size and I'm very glad that I did. The sizes are a little small especially for making allowances of extra layers under a cold-weather jacket. That aside, this jacket is wonderful. Really light but extra cozy. Living in the mountains of Colorado gets cold but this jacket keeps the chill out. The length in the back is great for me. I also love the little thumb hole thingies for keeping the sleeve extensions down over the hands - especially useful for when wearing gloves and there's no gap between the top of the gloves and the end of the sleeves. I am extremely pleased with this purchase and would be happy to recommend it to anyone considering buying the same jacket. Also like the "fur" inside the collar - helps keep you warm and also provides something nice and soft against skin. January 15, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by LOVE IT!!! I absolutely LOVE this coat. At first sight, I was thinking this coat is so thin it will never keep you warm, WRONG! I stay cold all the time and this coat is so warm and waterproof. I even threatened to wear it in the house when I got cold the other night. I gave the quality good because there were a few strings in the pocket area I had to cut off, but other than that excellent. It is very form fitting especially in the hip area, so keep that in mind. January 11, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love the fit LOVE this jacket. Is't supper warm, fits great and has a "girly" look....not a boy jacket. January 11, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Lightweight and warm I hate wearing a big bulky coat in the winter, so I was thrilled when I got my Kaliedaslope jacket. The Omni-Heat really works to capture your body heat and keep you feeling toasty, while allowing for less bulk and more ease of movement. The design and darting is incredibly flattering, which can be difficult to find in larger sizes like mine. (It IS possible to look feminine and be warm!) My only critique is that the outer fabric is very thin. I can't wear this while working or venturing off-trail, as the blackberry and multi-flora rose snags would be horrible. A great product for casual or everyday use, but not for off-trail or deep woods exploring! December 18, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Depends This jacket is ok. WAY too hot for me and I wish I could have tested it before taking off tags and getting rid of the paperwork to return it. Having said that......the coat is very well made. The fit is poor. The sleeves are far too tight. If you are wearing anything of bulk they are too tight. Bulk includes a t shirt! So for a bigger gal you are screwed. December 14, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great coat! I purchased this coat this year after losing weight and needing to replace my Bugaboo that was way too big. My Bugaboo was a 3XL, and after reading reviews of this jacket on both this webpage and another page, I decided to upsize my Kaleidaslope to a 2XL...Boy am I glad I did! This jacket definitely runs small compared to all the other Columbia items I have. I also have a zip up fleece and a Glacial fleece in 2XL and both are quite baggy on me. The Kaleidaslope fits perfectly, but not with enough room for a heavy sweater or anything bulky underneath. However, I don't anticipate needing to wear too many sweaters with the Omni-Heat...this is an amazingly warm technology! At any rate, I have had many many compliments on this coat, the cut, the style, oh, and the color - which I have to say, I searched high and low to order one of last year's colors, the Blue Forest/Teal color, as this year's colors are pretty basic and boring! So, if you continue to make this coat, I would suggest bringing back some nice colors that will go with anything! December 5, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great jacket I typically wear a size 18 and I'm glad that I followed the recommendations and ordered a size up. The jacket fits perfectly and is not "poofy". It is very warm and that's what I needed for Wisconsin winters. It's lightweight which I like because most winter jackets I've had are SO heavy. Overall, this is a winner. November 27, 2012
