Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never in all my life! In all my life, I've never owned such a great quality coat. I was hesitant to spend this type of money on a coat, but it was well worth it and I'd do it all over again. I had read reviews that it runs a little small, and it does. But beyond that, everything else is more than fine with this coat. You should buy one today!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really good coat this coat is really good but not quite great. As far as fit, I saw that the coat fit small written somewhere so I ordered the next size up and then that seemed too big,or not. I can't say because when I ordered there was a lot of winter weather so I got delayed and I figured if I sent it back it would take forever to get a new size,so I kept it. And I do love it. The coat doesn't have the guaranteed waterproof outer layer and that is the only reason I didn't call it great. I did know going in that it wasn't waterproof but it would have been a nice feature even at a cost. The shell material is great, and I do get lots of people commenting on it,I got the white. As far as warmth right now in the N.East it's been a warm year but on a few of the colder days it was up to the task. So I guess so far so good and I'm more than happy and in fact do love the coat except for those couple of very very small things that I am happy look look past. I would more than recommend especially on the drier days. Thanks

Rated 4 out of 5 by from down jacket Nice jacket but it runs small so I had to return it for a larger size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best coat I have ever owned. I love this coat. I haven't got to use it below freezing temperatures yet, but I will be ready when it comes. The sizing might run a tad bit small but I ordered the next size up and it's great. The collar isn't scratching my necklace like most coats I have worn. The thumb holes are a nice feature. I did a lot of research on a good quality coat and this one has exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend this coat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Women's down jacket Received my coat yesterday. Wore it right away. It is very cold here in the Midwest right now in the teens with windchill factor much colder. I read reviews that said it ran slightly small. I decided to order next size up. Didn't need to but I can wear heavy sweaters if needed. It's not really to big. My coat kept me comfortable while picking kids up from bus stop and walking the dog. Now I need to order gloves which I'm getting ready to do now. I would recommend this jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice coat I love the length of the coat. It covers lower back well. It is a good length for driving. Well constructed. Very warm and cozy to wear. Not overly bulky which is nice. My one criticism is that it runs small, it's small across the chest and shoulders. I usually wear a 1x , a 2x if it is very fitted. So that gives you an idea of how small it runs. If you were a true 3x, there is no way this coat would fit you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from love this coat before I purchased I read the reviews. the previous reviews said that you should size up. I'm so glad I did. I wear a 1x bought a 2x and it fits great, I have space to wear a sweater and extra layers. My favorite part of this coat is the thumb hole on the sleeve. The coat is very warm. Too warm for me but I like it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved it I love the jacket it is very warm and comfortable I ordered a bigger size thinking my regular size wouldn't fit plenty of room I can wear big sweaters under it and keeps me very comfortable

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Disappointing I have recently lost weight, but ordered the 1X thinking it would be longer in the arms. I find with almost all winter coats, the arms are too short. The coat fit in the arms, but was very unflattering everywhere else. Also the length of this coat was deceiving. It barely covered to below my behind.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from well pleased I am well pleased with the look, fit (yes!) and warmth of this jacket. I am short and curvy but based on other I reviews ordered the 1X plus rather than an XL regular that I normally wear. Fits well, and moves well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Women’s Lay D Down™ Jacket bought this jacket December 2016 just in time for -30c cold snap been keeping me quite warm and comfortable. as stated in previous reviews this jacket fits smaller than your regular size I went one up and fits great has room for a sweater. highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect so far I'm wearing 1X or 2X clothes. I ordered a 2X and it fits perfectly even with big sweater under. It is very warm and I can feel the quality. It takes a little time to the jacket to "inflate" to its final form after unpacking it. No worries if it looks very flat when you just unpack it. So far, nothing to say! Let's see during the winter :-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality winter jacket After fitting XL in store, I ordered 2x online. I ordered Red and I think it is very pretty. Apart from being off in the shoulders and arms areas - I find the shoulders too bulky as if expecting wide shoulders and very fat arms - I am ok with this jacket to keep. I wished the fitting on those areas better,of course. As a whole, could still have multiple layering added (tank, hoodie and vest) with the extra room. I'd say for my built, I am in between 1x and 2x on that area. The length is perfect to my liking being 5'4. The jacket is very warm and light. Loved the thumb holes. I got away having a tshirt underneath when it is -1 outside with gusty winds. Yeah, that warm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE it Just got my coat in the mail and I LOVE it. It fit me perfectly, it looks great, and I love everything about it. I have to walk between buildings at night in the freezing Iowa winter and this coat will be perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Jacket is nice BUT... The jacket color Metallic Black isn't like the picture shows with a metallic look to it but rather a black. Disappointing. The sizing is correct by reviews stating to go up a size from what you normally wear (I wear 1x, but bought 2x) because the shoulders run narrower and then widens out near the hips and it tapers in at the waist. Also a reviewer stated it's a shorter jacket in length and this is true, as it does not begin to cover half your bum and it seems to be longer in some ways in the front than in the back. Odd. Now the overall function of the jacket is excellent. The omni heat is always great for cooler weather and the hood comes over the head more than enough for strong blistery winds. It also has zipper vents to open on the arms to not get over heated if need be. All in all this is an excellent jacket and would recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice coat I just got this this coat yesterday from another site for $62 and free shipping so I thought I would give it a try. I had had enough with my last years Columbia coat, I forget the name actually, but I hated it. It was to tight in the belly. But living in the North it was without question that I had to have a new coat, and after months of hunting, this is the one I picked. The price was right so I thought I would give this a go. After reading the reviews I was nervous thinking I bought the wrong size. My last money waster was a 1X so this time I got the 2X. Some reviews said it was to small, some to tight, I put it on the moment it landed on my door step and I think it will be ok. There is plenty of shoulder room, the belly isnt tight, sleeves are good. My only complaint is the neck, I feel like I'm smothering when zipped, or its like a neck brace. Not a deal breaker and I can't give it a fair shot being it's July in Minnesota. So it will have to wait a few months. But over all, I like it. I must say after reading the reviews on this site, I am nervous about the zipper situation. If I have a zipper issue, I'll be done with Columbia I think. My last money waster had a zipper issue as well. But...wont' know the out come until winter gets here!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for tall people the jacket is great quality the sleeves are always long enough in every Columbia jacket that I have bought, but the length with this jacket is an issue. I'm 5'10" and I thought the jacket was short on me, the waist was not in place it was very high up and the jacket itself was meant to cover a portion of the butt (im assuming) but it didn't, it came just below the waist. Way too short.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Women's Lay D Down Jacket Loved this jacket from the moment I laid eyes on it! The white is absolutely beautiful. Once you get the jacket out iof the package and fluff the fur collar up it plush and cozy. The omni heat lining keeps you nice and warm. You will not be disappointed in this purchase

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Purple Love First off, I bought the burgundy/wine/dark plum/maroon color but it is a bit brighter than I expected. I wasn't too concerned about the color difference, especially since it is so warm. I got this coat just before the temperature dipped close to 0 a few weeks ago, and I was pleasantly surprised at how warm it kept me. I bought this jacket since I was tired of always wearing my men's bright blue ski jacket (also a Columbia omni heat) and wanted something more feminine. I was skeptical at first because my men's coat was the warmest jacket that I've ever owned, and I was scared that no other coat would be as warm, but this coat did not disappoint! I highly recommend this coat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from not what I expected After reading the reviews after I purchased this coat I was a little nervous it wouldn't fit or wouldn't keep me warm. Well it was tested out the first day as it hit -3° in nyc that weekend and I must say I was beyond warm I actually started to sweat in the city haven't had a coat like this in years. I've owned a columbia coats when I was a teenager so I already knew it was a good coat but definitely exceeded my expectation. I ordered the coat one size bigger so that I can put a sweater underneath truth be told I don't really need the sweater

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Plus Size Winter Coat I've been looking for a plus sized ski style winter coat for a while. There are not a lot of options out there, so I was thrilled when I found this jacket. It is stylish and warm. It is very well made and arrived quickly. I am typically a 2X, so I ordered a 3X to have room for sweaters and sweatshirts underneath. It is perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for cold weather Will work great next year in cold weather love the half clove sleeve nice and snugly

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect I set out to buy a winter coat that was warm enough for Pennsylvania winters but not so bulky that I couldn't drive in it. This is perfect. I mostly wear short sleeves under it and I'm still warm. After reading reviews I decided to buy a size up and it fits perfectly and still have room if I want to layer up. It looks heavy and bulky but after wearing it a few times it's so lightweight and nonrestricting which is definitely what I was looking for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Coat Im not a coat fan but I knew I need to invest in a great winter coat. After reading reviews I sized up because I have large arms and the fit is great. Its very warm, yet not bulky. It was worth the price.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Akward I found this jacket to be somewhat disappointing. It was warm, and the hood was nice, but the fit was really strange. I could zip the jacket up, and it did not feel very tight on me, but when I looked in the mirror, the jacket looked two sizes too small. I looked stuffed inside the thing. It also made me look really puffy, rather than curvy. Since I got it in a hurry, I did not really have time to buy a new jacket before my ski trip so I wore this jacket in hopes that it would grow on me. I felt it was really unflattering and I was embarrassed wearing it. When I got on the ski lift the back of the jacket did not cover my lower back, so I am pretty sure the chair behind me saw some skin! It also did not move well with skiing and was rather uncomfortable to ski in. I did not feel that it had enough functional pockets the way other ski jackets have for skiing. I only wore it on one ski lift before deciding it was not going to work out and I needed to send it back. Also, just wanted to note that the jacket is just black. The name is Black Metallic, and the website picture makes the jacket appear to have a slight metallic grey pattern, but the jacket is just black. Overall, I would say this jacket just runs small. I am 5’9” and usually wear an 18/20. I bought another jacket last year that was a 2X from another company and the jacket was roomy and fit well. I bought the Lay D Down jacket in 2X and found that the size was not comparable to my previous jacket.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Had to be returned The coat was very nice the style was great But holy it FITS VERY.VERY small, so it had to be returned. Will I order from the site again very hard to say for it costed me over $25.00 to return the cost which is very disappointing :( not sure why these size clothing can't be sold in the stores or at least let the online orders be returned to the store for a refund ....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lay D Down Plus Size Fit was perfect for me. Best and most comfortable jacket that I have had in a long time. I got it in black metallic and it is flattering.
Date published: 2016-01-20
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what I expected at all Before purchasing, I read the reviews, and it was obvious that I would have to buy a size or even 2 up because everyone was saying that it runs very small. So I got a 2X in stead of 1X and I swear, I could fit my sister in the jacket with me lol. The jacket is flimsy, light, and the length is really awkward. I wouldn't recommend this jacket... not because of the size, but just because it doesn't look or feel like a jacket that is worth $217
Date published: 2016-01-08
Rated 5 out of 5 by from fits perfect worth the money I bought this coat ad I was told columbia is a great brand and I buy it for my children but never got myself I highly recommend this coat it fit true to size very warm great detail and I get so many compliment on it very much worth the money it's quite hard to find a plus size coat that warm and looks great

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mostly good, one flaw Love the jacket itself, only issue is the zipper.... Have had the jacket one month and the zipper often comes unzipped from the bottom... Unfortunate, may be taking it in for a new zipper soon, which locally is another $40.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from VERY warm! While this does run a bit snug for my usual size, it is easily the warmest coat I've ever owned. It is so warm that I had to take it off when it got to be about 35-40 degrees unexpectedly one day. The functionality is good, I like the powder skirt and the ability to snap it out of the way when not needed. I would like to see the "ski pass" pocket on the bottom left inside too, otherwise, it has a good number of pockets and even those are very warm for cold, bare hands. It would be nice if they had a version a bit longer than this, to below the hip, not just to the lower thigh. The spandex cuff that fits over half of your hand is wonderful with gloves too. But, it is, hands down, the best warm coat for freezing and below 0 temps that I've ever owned. Fantastic for the mountains! Hope to have many years of use out of it!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This product has mixed features I loved the jacket. The color was perfect. The jacket warm and exactly the color I was hoping for. However I purchased to wear at outdoor sporting events during a cold Minnesota winter. Despite purchasing a 3X (normally I would wear an XL) I could not wear a sweatshirt under the jacket as the sleeves were cut extremely small. This was disappointing as the styling thumb holes etc was great. So while the jacket is very nice I cannot wear it for its intended purpose. Even with just lightweight shirt under the jacket, I could barely move my arms.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! My jacket arrived on our first snowfall of the year & I was so warm & toasty inside of it. The jacket is a bit short but that doesn't bother me. I really like the thumb holes. The hood is big but it's adjustable. I'm 5'3 & 260 and the jackets fits great. Pretty happy with my purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Coat! I was in the market for a high quality winter coat to keep me warm during the notorious Wisconsin winters. I fell in love with this coat as soon as I saw it online. Not only was I attracted by the look of the coat, but also by the list of features. I have several Columbia fleece zip ups and lighter jackets in 1X that fit great, but I decided to order a size up and went with the 2X. I figured with the extra room, it would fit comfortably over heavy, bulky winter sweaters. It fits great! There is extra room, but it doesn't look like I am drowning in it. It is a bit shorter than I expected it to be. It has been unseasonably warm here, so I haven't had a chance to wear it out in the cold, but so far I am satisfied with my purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Jacket, My size was too small I have trouble with a lot of jackets due to my arms, and the 2x just didn't fit comfortably for me. I've returned the first jacket I purchased, and will try the 3x because I like it so much, but I'm pretty sure it's going to be too big everywhere else. Fingers crossed! I'm getting this for my everyday winter jacket in northern New England. I can say, I wouldn't recommend this as a winter sport jacket, it's very short compared to most, and doesn't really cover the butt, upper legs like my snowboarding coats do. It's very well made, very warm, and the color was beautiful!
