Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Coat! This is a great coat to wear around town. It is light and comfortable. If you live in a very cold climate, you might want something that is a little thicker. When it gets colder than 20 degrees F, it's not always the perfect choice. I do have some problems with the zipper from time to time which is why I dinged the quality a little bit. November 26, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by It Does Keep You Warm! I really enjoy this coat. It has inset hand cuffs that covers your hands. It's a long jacket so that adds to the warmth. Looks great with boots. It does run small, so if you plan to wear a sweater underneath it, allow for room when deciding on sizing. Even though it has a hood, I still would wear a hat or head covering as it is a little loose on top. The only thing that I was disappointed with was paying regular price for it, and now I see that it has been reduced by $60.00!!!! November 26, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Lightweight cold weather solution Loving this coat! Slightly longer length is perfect for work and weekends. Am impressed with the lightweight easy movement for such warmth and wind protection. Already a larger women - much appreciation for all the winter protection without added bulk. So far, have not been as down about winter as I finally have a coat that is so comfortable! Might have ordered down a size-but worried about hip comfort on the longer length. Like that the coat still has some shape vs the box look for this size by other companies. November 25, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Loved this coat! I bought this coat when I found out I was moving to Edmonton, AB. I've worn it regularly in temperatures that were 40° below zero, and I was never cold. The only drawback is that the hood is large and doesn't cinch well. But I wore a ski hat underneath anyway so that wasn't a big deal for me. Overall, this coat exceeded my expectations and I am online now about to order my second coat as my current coat is now three years old. (By the way it's still in great shape despite having been worn seven months per year for the past three years; I'm just ready for a new color.) The coat does run a little small; I would recommend ordering up one size, especially if you're planning to layer sweaters underneath. November 22, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by This coat is ridiculously small This coat is like 2 sizes smaller than it should be Haorrible November 15, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by AWesome! I love this jacket so much, even though i wore for one day, but it kept me so warm! November 12, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Coat wit Potential Living in Chicago, I will be putting this coat to the ultimate test very soon. So far, so good, this coat has kept me warm during the fall's cold and rainy weather. For the time being, I recommend this coat but my final review will be when I can test it at our coldest. I have a good feeling about it keeping me warm in -20°F weather. November 1, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by This is a very nice jacket I really like this jacket, I worn it in a rainy And very windy day and eventhough it wasnt raining cats and dogs or extremely cold it keep me dry and warm. I would have to wait till the temperatures drop a little bit more to really put it to the test. October 21, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great coat but a little big I ordered a 2x based on the description that it fits slightly small. It was actually a little bit roomy. I think I'll keep it anyway and just wear big sweaters under it. It is very light weight and does the job at keeping you very warm and cozy. My only complaint is mainly the size and I think I'll order this in a smaller size next time. October 20, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazon woman will be warm this winter I purchased this coat looking for a coat that went down over my butt. I am 5'10 and some of the coats that are long are not long enough. I also have issues in the length of the sleeves. This fits perfect in both of those trouble areas. I usually wear a size XL but because of the length and sleeve issue I ordered a size 1X and I love it so far. Not that I am wanting to wish away the fall season, I can not wait to wear this coat come winter! October 8, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice & Light Coat! Really happy with the purchase. The quality is really good. Light weight and style is awesome. I am 5'6" with pear shape. I ordered 1X and this coat fit well. I can zip it up! Only compliant is quality of the zipper is not that good. Yes I would recommend this coat to large women. September 23, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love the lenght Soft, light weight and movable material lets you drive a car without removing your jacket. Great on cold buffalo days with the use of the hood. September 17, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by hated it!!! The coat was so flimsy i don't know how it could possibly keep me warm. As soon as i trod it on i put it back in the box to send it back. September 3, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by pretty i was on the fence about 2x or 3x and per previous reviews i went w/ 2x but now wish i would have went w/ 3x. i just got my coat and tried it on w/ a t-shirt and shorts and its a little snug. so guess I'm gonna have to lose some weight cause I'm not gonna send it back. August 31, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Coat Ever This coat fits beautifully. I usually have a very hard time finding a good fitting winter coat and this one is perfect. I purchased a 2x because I want to be able to put a sweater underneath and this works great! I like that it's very light weight, but know that it will be warm in a Chicago winter. August 30, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Jacket! Incredible jacket, I'm 5'3, chesty and chubby. This jacket not only kept me warm, sometimes I had to put an extra layer on because it was super cold last year in Pa. But the jacket is flattering as well. I was worried the jacket would make me look like a linebacker, but it didn't at all. I had compliments every time I wore it. I was worried when I first received it, its not thick, it's super light weight.. It did the trick! Best jacket ever. P.S, it wasn't to long either. August 20, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Fits Perfectly! I was a bit hesitant to order this in a 1X, but glad I did. This is the first Columbia jacket that fits me properly. All the other 1X jackets/coats are too tight in the hips and the 2x ones too big. I'm 5'4 and a size 18ish with short arms. Plenty of room if you have t & a! Hoping the seams hold up because there are so many areas where the stitching could fail. This jacket is super warm and very flattering. January 20, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Pleasantly Suprised I purchased this coat on a whim, forgoing my usual wool coat that I freeze in all winter. Finally deciding I was going to have a warm coat this winter. I searched every website and store I could find and eventually stumbled upon this jacket. I am 5'7'' with a long torso and arms, so finding clothing that fits well is challenging. Most of the jackets I had tried thus far went up to my forearms when I put my arms out in front and are so puffy I feel like the stay puft man from Ghostbusters. I decided to purchase one of these jackets despite being unable to try it on as there are no stores carrying it near me and I figured "why not?". Living in Green bay, WI, I worried that it would not be warm enough, based on other reviews. I can 100% say that is not the case. This week it has been below zero temps, currently it is 5 degrees, but with windchill feels like -18. I walk across a open parking lot 1 block wide to get to my work and I can definitely say wearing this jacket, I am not cold, any area covered by this jacket is toasty warm. There are a few downsides to this jacket. 1. As I mentioned, I have long arms, thus, the thumb holes feel like they are attempting to sever my thumbs if I put my arms out, however, this is not a deal breaker as I simply don't use the holes, I find no real difference as the material still seals well. 2. The dang zipper is one of the most frustrating zippers it has been my displeasure to work with. If I were not so thrilled with the rest of this jacket, the zipper would ruin the deal for me. Columbia if you read this, please examine the zipper, it sticks and catches and takes 3-4+ times to attempt to zip with the right maneuvering. With those being said, I would still recommend this coat in a heartbeat for anyone who is looking for a long jacket that provides an amazing amount of warmth. As a testament to this jacket, for Christmas I went on to purchase one for my mother who is in her late 50's and is constantly cold, she loves it as well! January 8, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by slimming coat! I love the way this coat is so slimming! It is also really warm using Omni heat technology. It only weighs 2 pounds. It runs a bit small. My usual size was too smug when worn over a sweater. I love having the 2 way zipper when I sit down. December 20, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Not true to size I am very happy with this coat with the exception that it is rather not true to size. I will have to return it for a smaller size. Otherwise it is a very nice coat. December 19, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Just perfect !! Love this coat. The little thumb holes on the sleeves are great and the pockets are coZy. The jacket is so soft and warm and airy December 18, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Mighty Light AWESOME So... I will start this review off by stating that I live in Minneapolis. I have a close and personal relationship with bitter cold (I would say not by choice, but that's a lie. Go Twins). This coat... Takes the cake. I traded out my threadbare 3 in 1 interchangeable jacket for this thin little slice of heaven and could not be happier. When the mercury dips into the negatives, I throw on my long Benton springs fleece jacket for layering and I am good to go. The wind does not penetrate this jacket whatsoever, which was important for me. Standing temperatures don't bother me, its the wind chill that irritates me. I'm built like a chunky Amazonian woman... 5'10 with a large chest and hips, so the 2X was perfect - Roomy enough to move and layer when necessary. I generate a lot of heat, so the OmniHeat tech is absolutely divine. If you're constantly cold, this would not be the jacket for you. The only thing I don't like about the jacket is how dainty the outer fabric seems. Stitching has come undone in some areas, which I fixed with a little knot using my thread and needle. I, however, don't feel this is a deal breaker because dang it... I'm warm and not puffy looking. I have recommended this coat to 3 people at work - Now, all three of us dance donning our light jackets in the parking lot while the other office gnomes grimace in their cubicles. Win. Rated 5 out of 5 by Big girls, this will fit you! I am so excited about this coat, really and truly! I searched everywhere looking for a new coat because I haven't had one in years and I needed to make a wise decision. I'm a big girl, almost pushing the 3x sizing (also only 5ft), so that makes the search for size, quality, and price pretty difficult. I read reviews and was somewhat concerned about sizing, where the waistline would fit, if it would zip, and whether it would be warm enough for the wind-whipping Illinois winters. I walk about four blocks into work, so I really need something that has me covered. I do tend to run hot, so the omni-heat works really well for me. So far I've worn the coat into the high teens with howling wind and every place that the coat covers is kept incredibly warm! I will have to experiment with colder days, too. The color is beautiful, and the quality is great- the pockets are lined with fleece and wonderfully deep. What a relief of a purchase for me! It gives me shape, is stylish, and is everything I thought I would never find in a coat (as a fat girl). The zipper can take an extra minute to work sometimes, but that's such a minor issue for me, I can't be alone in being glad that something this beautiful even ZIPS! I read other reviews about people saying the outside fabric is delicate and pulls easily, which could be true- if you're not careful. Just be mindful of treating your stuff properly. Thank you, Columbia, for making such a wonderful coat! December 17, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Slim fit and warm I had all 3 plus sizes to try on. I am between size 18 and 20 but even with a thick sweater, the 1X fit well through the body and shoulders. While I generally find sleeves long on me, these aren't so the sleeve extension cuts into my hands a bit. Overall very happen with this coat. December 17, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Lightweight and Warm I have used this coat as an everyday coat since it arrived and am glad I purchased it. The coat runs small so order 1 size up, however the arms are long. I am about 5' 8 and normally wear a 2x but after trying on in the store I knew to order the 3x. My first impression of the extended cuff with thumb loops was that I would hate them and they would be in my way all the time. However, I am actually enjoying them. They keep out the wind and cold and help keep the hands warm on days when you don't have your gloves. I have worn the coat in the 40's and not been too hot in it even wearing it when running into the grocery store, and worn it in the 10's and still been comfortably warm. It is very lightweight and I love that. I cannot drive in a coat that is bulky and this has been perfect. My one complaint would be that the hood will not stay on if there is any wind at all, unless you zip the zipper all the way up. Overall, this is a great lightweight but warm coat and I am happy with my purchase. December 17, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Lightweight and warm It does exactly what it is supposed to and is super comfortable. December 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome Jacket This jacket is amazing! It fits with enough room to layer If need be and I can do my errands while staying really warm and not feeling bulky. At first I thought it was too thin but I was wrong lol. It keeps real warm. I love the hood and thumb holes and the stitching designs. I have received many compliments. I live in Indiana so it can get pretty cold but I love new jacket. December 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing Lightweight Warm Winter Coat I am tired of the big, bulky and HEAVY winter parkas that I've been wearing - you know, the kind of coat that immediately overheats you when you go into a store, to the point you have to take it off. ARGH. I have been on the hunt for a lightweight yet warm winter coat for a couple of years. Nothing has been what I wanted. So this year I did a google search and was led right to this coat. I can't say enough good about this coat. The lack of weight is amazing for a knee length winter coat. The inside has the Omni-heat lining that is reflective material that uses your own body heat to warm you but still allows the coat to be incredibly light. The arms have a cuff that includes a thumb hole at the end which I imagine is handy for some people. I'm not one of those people, but it is not necessary to use the thumb holes at all. The cuff is stretchy enough to stay pretty tight around your wrist and prevents wind from moving up the arm hole. The coat is attractive, too. I bought black and I get nothing but compliments on it. The only problem with the coat is the hood, which is not able to be made tighter. It's still a good hood, but it is not something to keep the ears as warm as it could with the somewhat loose hood. I love this coat so much that when Black Friday came around (two weeks after I bought the coat) I ordered another one in another color for myself. I'm a person that falls in love with a shoe or a product and then if I don't buy another, they usually get discontinued and I'm out of luck. Not this time - I will be more than ready for a bunch of long winters in these coats. As far as sizing, I can wear an XL or a 1X in most everything but I followed other reviewers advice and got the next size up. It fits perfectly and I still have some room in case I wear a sweater or something more bulky on top. Love the coat - it gets the highest of recommends from me. December 10, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Warm I love that it's light weight and keeps me warm. December 9, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by warm so far I ordered this in a 2x based on the reviews which said it ran small, it was to big. I normally wear a 1x so I say it runs true to size. I have only worn it for 2 days and they were both in the 30's it did seem to keep me warm and toasty. I always look for a thin but warm coat since the Chicago winters are cold and hopefully this will fit the bill. December 4, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect This jacket is so very light weight. It is like a miracle space suit! It is SO warm. I put it to the true test looking at property in Northern Minnesota when the wind chills were -30. I was not cold at all with NO layering under the jacket. I wore it shopping in Minneapolis which was a bad move because I got very over heated in the stores. I love the look of this jacket and it is super warm. December 4, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Overall amazing coat I'm a bigger girl and I love that I could actually find a longer coat to fit me. It's light weight but does a great job of keeping me warm. I'm located in Michigan so it's functions well in our up and down temperatures of winter this far. I'm happy with the product over all, however the built in hand cuffs with the thumb holes I wish were removable. They're thin enough fabric that I push them back into my sleeves and wear my own gloves. Great coat and love the two way zipper! December 3, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by 2X Black i'm 5'3" 200 lbs all belly. Some of the other long coats made me even more round... this was a perfect 2X for me. It has plenty of room for an extra sweater, but i'm fine without one. It's not the warmest coat for our cold Chicago Winters but for me it's perfect since I already own Columbia's short puffer coat which is easier to drive!! November 30, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Warm but sizing is a little off Great coat, will definitely keep you warm. Only issue I had was the sizing. I purchased the 3X so that I could wear bulky sweaters, for the most part the fit was ok, but the arms were tight & just made it uncomfortable to wear. Ended up returning & going with a different brand. If there were a 4X, I might have exchanged. November 27, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Love the length! I just got this in the mail today. I have been anticipating it all week, and based on reviews I didn't know if it would work or not. 1) very lightweight 2) I can move easily in it 3) I took my measurements and could have actually gone down a size. It's a little big but not worth returning 4) of course it was snowing last week and now it's 40 degrees but so far it's been great- true test will come later I'm sure November 24, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Product Everything about this jacket is perfect. The description is exactly what it is so there were no surprises when I received it.its functional comfortable and even fashionable as I wear it with career clothes as well as casual jeans and boots. I love the quill color and the length is perfect. With the omni heat lining it is amazingly warm without the bulk and I absolutely love that feature. November 23, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Over Promised and Under Delivered I bought this coat based on reviews and the fact it is supposed to keep warm. I walk my dogs twice a day, every day, winter, summer, spring, fall, no matter how cold. Let me start by saying I'm in the midst of menopause and I've got plenty of body heat. I don't even sleep with blankets half the time. I felt like I was walking around naked and afraid. There was no heat to be had, no protection from the wind or cold. The only good thing about this coat are the thumb holes so I didn't have zero degree winds blowing up my arms. I think about the only time of year this coat would be good might be early spring. I wouldn't recommend this coat if you're trying to stay warm. Even with layers, it's not going to do the trick. It will be returned tomorrow. November 20, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Has what it takes! I was not sure this coat would be warm enough for a Minnesota winter, but since it came early I found out! Love this coat. The length was what hooked me but I find it plenty warm too. I agree with another review that it helps to wear the coat a couple minutes before you go out. I am getting compliments on the fit too! November 20, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by OK coat if you're not in super cold climate I like the way this jacket fits, except for the hood. It fills up with wind and blows off. It would be great if it had an adjustable cord inside. We haven't had too many days below 30 yet, but I suspect this jacket won't do me much good under 20, especially if it is windy. Columbia didn't offer any temperature range with this product so I took a chance. I will still enjoy this jacket for a few months of the year, and maybe when I'm skiing or snowshoeing, but I will need to find something warmer for everyday wear December-February. November 13, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by good concept, needs some tweaks Wear a 16-18. purchased the 2x based upon reviews saying runs small (I found otherwise). I was going to return for smaller size. Then, gave test: In very unsheltered area, 27 degrees w 30mph consistent wind, while wearing light shirt... I felt wind come right through the jacket. I think it may be better with a wool sweater or something. But, for this price I would expect it should handle a bitter fall day. Not quite! Size: Top area, shoulders above chest fit ok despite being much larger than my size. But the waist and hips bell way out. So, maybe runs small up high and true to size (way too big for me) down further (and I have a gut). Was going to return for smaller size but, after stood in wind... feeling disappointed. It would not handle below zero without really good bottome layer(s). Loose Hood has no adjustment mechanism. So is more for over other hats scarves. Blows off. The lightweight fabric and breathable concept is great! So it's sad to part with because it was exactly what I thought I had been looking for (and still am) breathable, hood, not too short. in plus size. November 10, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Very Cold in MN I purchased this jacket based on reviews that were from customers that live in cold states. I am from MN and after reading positive comments I thought this was the jacket for me. However, I was greatly disappointed after only wearing this jacked once on a 38 degree day with wind that made the temperature feel like 28 degrees this should not be considered a winter jacket for cold regions of the United States. I could feel the wind blowing through the jacket. Luckily I brought along a fleece jacket and changed and I was much warmer wearing just a fleece than the supposed winter jacket. If this jacket does not keep you warm on a 38 degree day, I am not sure how it would do on a -38 degree day that we have in MN. November 8, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by I love this coat I'm so happy that I found the coat that I like it so warm and comfortable I'll be ordering some more stuff soon November 8, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Jacket!!! I was stressed this jacket wouldn't fit after reading reviews, but I found it was true to size. I could even fit layers under it. This jacket is so warm, and it's not super bulky and heavy. I am obsessed with it and can't wait to wear it more. Thanks so much for making a quality plus size jacket! November 7, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by This coat is okay I bought this coat to wear when I travel to North Dakota in a few weeks. I wanted something long that would keep me warm in very cold temperatures. I am 5'0" tall and I normally wear a size 18. I had been reading the reviews that the size ran small so I initially ordered a 3X. It was huge on me so I returned it for a 2X. This was a good fit and I would have been able to do some layering underneath if I wanted too. My complaint with the coat is that it was a little too lightweight. I wore it outside here in Texas when it was just a little chilly with the wind blowing and I felt like it did not keep me warm. Also, the arms were too long. I really liked the thumb hole feature in the sleeves. If the sleeves fit right that would have been perfect for keeping my wrists warm after putting on gloves. The pockets were too low for me as well. With my short arms only my fingers fit inside the pockets when I was standing up. I ended up returning the 2X as well. October 11, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great jacket! I ordered this jacket because I wanted a black hooded jacket that was a longer length. I don't like the one put out by another popular company because it's so bulky. This one has a much cuter shape and also has thumbholes in the cuff. It's a very thin material, but seems quite warm. I live in New England, and I think it will work out really well. I should say that I'm typically a 14/16 (L/XL) in clothes, but I find that Columbia runs tight through the hips. If you have hips and are around that size, I recommend ordering the 1X. It may be a bit roomy in the chest, but otherwise it's wonderful. August 31, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by awesome jacket I love this long jacket. It is the lightest and warmest jacket I have ever owned. The thumb holes are very handy and keep the sleeves down so well, I hardly need to wear gloves. I purchased this jacket in the "dark purple" color and find it is very flattering. December 17, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice Jacket This jacket is pretty nice. It was not as thick as I was expecting. It would not make a good winter coat. It is a light jacket. I like how it is longer than most jackets. Columbia makes a good product. It was just not what I was expecting. That was my fault for not reading more about this product before purchasing. I am still happy I have it to add to my jacket/coat collection. I am still in the market for a nice warm winter coat though. November 29, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Jacket!! I have had this jacket for about two weeks now and I LOVE IT!! It is so comfy that I find myself wearing it all the time. Not bulky at all but still very warm. I really like this jacket because when I wear it, I don't get overly warm in it. It helps just regulate my normal body temp. I also really like thumb holes in the cuffs. Overall a great buy!!!! November 24, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Winter in North Dakota..... The jacket keeps the warmth in and the cold out as advertised... You can really feel the omni-heat kicking in when you start moving- I like to put mine on a few minutes before heading out the door to warm up the air inside the coat. You'll want to wear a hat under the hood to take up some of the extra space. I love the length, keeps my bum warm!!! Had it for a week and a 3 inch stretch of seam on the right sleeve just opened up... I stitched it closed myself and it looks fine. Some of the threads on the stitching overall fray and look a little bit ragged, but other than than, the coat works and feels great! Super light, slimming, and I can wear a light work blouse underneath, I don't have to layer at all... YAY! November 21, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Women's Mighty Lite Hooded Jacket Omni -Heat thermal reflective lining and insulation is everything they proclaim. Watching a soccer game on top of a hill in 30 degree temperature with whipping winds was the test to prove how very good their product is. I am enjoying the jacket. November 21, 2013
