Women’s Mighty Lite™ Hooded Jacket 4.4 5 206 206
First Columbia Jacket I live in Michigan and knew I needed a reasonable jacket to manage the frigid days we have here. But, I also wanted something that wouldn't be too heavy, bulky or cumbersome. The Mighty Lite jacket has proved to be a worthy purchase. The Omni heat feature works well, overall. We've had some 25 degree days that have felt more like 18 degrees F, and this jacket has kept me toasty warm. My only initial complaint was that the two-way zipper kept getting stuck, but it seems to have "found its groove" so to speak and is easier to use after a few wears. January 4, 2015
Great for a slim, warm jacket with hood I bought one for my Mom last year. This jacket is so thin, lightweight and warm I then bought 2 for myself this year in different colors, I love it that much. My favorite feature - the comfort cuffs with thumb holes keep me very warm. Two things I would like Columbia to improve on: 1) make it in Petite - the sleeves are WAY too long 2) the two way front zipper definitely does not "facilitate mobility" - it is really sticky and very hard to start - both on my Mom's purchased last year and my two purchased this year. I would have thought Columbia would have picked up on this problem and fixed it by now. January 3, 2015
Warmth without bulk I have worn a Mighty Lite jacket for two years and loved it, so I decided to try the longer version with a hood. I ordered one size larger than usual. The fit is great - roomy enough to zip with a sweater underneath, but it's thin so it doesn't add extra bulk. The fit is flattering on my short, curvy frame. One drawback so far is that the hood creates static in my hair, but I would have that issue with any hood. I was happy that the Tradewinds Grey color is a bit darker than it appears in the photo, more like a medium grey. December 30, 2014
Looks Great and Functions Well I wanted a light winter coat that I could feel cute, comfortable, and warm in while out walking, running errands, and exploring. I love it for when I'm going around town at any temperature between 20-50 degrees Fahrenheit. If you're going to be outside in the open outdoors for a while and the temperatures are below 20, I'd recommend something else. December 26, 2014
Not for Chicago's winter This jacket would be great for an area where the winter is not as harsh as Chicago, maybe Atlanta where the temperature doesn't drop below 30 degrees. The Mighty Lite is more of a fall jacket than for winter. December 23, 2014
Mr It fit perfectly my wife loves it. December 23, 2014
Warm & Holds up to Columbia brand I purchased this jacket hoping it would be a good jacket for winter. The price was a little high, but it was worth it! This is a VERY light jacket, but upon wearing, it keeps you VERY warm. It looks like a fall jacket but I am wearing it in Wisconsin winter. I have been warm in a tshirt and this jacket around 25 degrees so far. I was suprised but happy to find out how warm and comfy it kept me! I love the thumb holes, but don't always use them while driving as I stretch my arms out and they become uncomfortable. The material is high quality and it is a great design all over. The zipper can come up all the way for the jacket to cover my nose when it is windy. The only thing I wish it had was a drawstring for the hood, because even with the zipper up, the hood is large and will fall off from the wind. Otherwise, I am very happy with this jacket and I will probably continue to buy from Columbia. Thank you! December 23, 2014
the best part of this jacket is its lite weight!! I love this jacket, lite and packable, yet warm!!! I have been wearing this everyday since it arrived in the mail!! Everyone has complimented me on the color and just the jacket in itself!!! Glad I found it on Cyber Monday 2014!!! December 22, 2014
Nice Car Coat As many of the other reviewers mentioned this item runs a bit small. I am a small [5 ft, size 6-8] and a small fit me, but if my hips were any larger it would have been too tight and you can't wear a large chunky sweater under it. I live in NE and I wore this coat the other day when it was around 35 outside. It was adequate for what I was doing, though it was clear to me that if it was much below 30 this coat would not keep you warm for long extended stays outside. I really like the styling and the thumb holes in the sleeves are a nice plus. Unlike other long coats it isn't bulky and since I'm short it doesn't make me look like a giant puff ball! It was the right weight to go shopping where I'm going in and out of the car all day. I would say if you want a long coat to spend extended time outside in cold climates then this isn't the coat. If you want a light, stylish coat that is good for moderately cold weather then this is your coat. December 22, 2014
Strange fit I really wanted to love this jacket. I'm 5'3" and 140 lbs. I'm a proportionate human. I generally run between a medium and a large in clothes. First I ordered the medium. With no layers underneath, it fit great around my stomach and butt but was so tight across the bust and shoulders. The armpits were suffocatingly tight. It was roomy above my chest and in the neck area, so great for a scarf tucked inside. I exchanged it for the large. The large was bizarre. That extra space above the boobs was gone, and it was very snug against my neck and chin. The armpits were still too tight. The part around my stomach was too loose. Finally, I have to mention the pockets. I am short, but still, my hands in the pockets were basically resting on my mid-thighs when I took a walk in the coat. It was so uncomfortable! It was hard to walk! But too cold not to use the pockets! I returned it. December 21, 2014
Warm and stylish! I really love this jacket. It is nice and light, yet still warm. It has a great length and the added hand covers complete the jacket. This color is great and hoodie is nicely fitted, however, sadly I had to return it because my hips are a bit too big right now and this seems to fit a more slender figure. I am 5'6 and currently 160. December 19, 2014
great coat, great value I bought this coat for my daughter who is 5'10" and 135lbs. I tried it on in a store before ordering it online. I might normally buy a size small but find that many jackets/coats run short in the sleeves and overall length for a tall person. The fit in a size medium is perfect and allows a little room for extra layers and the flowy style tops she likes to wear. December 19, 2014
Perfect for my needs I am a public transit commuter and this coat keeps me protected from the elements while waiting. The lightness makes it easy to move and feels like a light jacket. The length protects my legs as well. December 19, 2014
Perfect light weight warm fashionable coat! The silver color of this coat is even prettier than I thought it would be. I love the light weight and length. It will be perfect to wear to my son's football games! December 18, 2014
Happy with my purchase! After reading reviews, I got the sense that this jacket ran small so I went ahead and ordered a large (I am a size 6 and almost always wear mediums). I ended up having to exchange the jacket for a medium but am very happy with the fit. Living in Boston, I walk a lot and struggle with overheating in my coats. But this jacket is the perfect balance between warm and breathable. My only qualm is that the hood does not stay up very well. Other than that, I am very satisfied! December 18, 2014
Great Coat, Very Warm I knew just from the name this was going to be a light coat, but I was so happy with how warm it keeps me! I'm 5'6", 135 lbs. and the medium fits perfectly. Isn't short on the arms, and reaches to just above my knees. My mom wants the same coat now! My only wish is that it was a little longer to keep more of my legs warm! I've walked around in 20 degree weather on my Wisconsin campus with nothing but a light sweater on underneath and stayed perfectly toasty. I'm looking forward to when the temperature drops to really test this coat out. December 18, 2014
Not Chicago-proof I ended up returning this coat after wearing it, and freezing, on a 32 degree Chicago day. The hood, thumb holes, pocket placement, and double zipper are great, but there is no way this coat would keep me warm on a sub zero day. I ordered a size Medium (the same size as all previous Columbia purchases) - I'm 5'8" & 140lbs so the fit was spot on. December 18, 2014
Great Jacket! When I received this jacket, I was shocked at how thin it was. The thickness of the jacket is comparable to a rain jacket. However, I decided to try the jacket outside, and was shocked at how warm it was! I tried on several long down puffer jackets before settling on this one. Most made me look like I was wearing a fat suit, according to my husband. This was the only jacket I tried on that did not overwhelm my 5'2", extra small frame. The cut is flattering, without being restrictive. The fit is true to size. The length is also perfect. The jacket provides adequate warmth, although I have only worn it in weather as cold as 25 degrees. The material provides great waterproofing. It has been quite rainy lately, and I have not felt a drop of water seep through the jacket. The hood is a good size, however it does not allow for adjustments to make smaller or bigger. This is a negative, in my opinion. The pockets are a suitable size for storing keys or gloves, and are deep enough to keep hands covered. My favorite feature of this jacket is the thumb holes in the "comfort cuffs". These cuff extend quite far from the sleeve, and the thumb holes allow for gloves to slide easily over the cuffs. This feature is handy in containing warmth inside the jacket, as no wind can travel up the sleeves. Overall, I am extremely happy with this purchase. Please do not be alarmed by the light weight of the jacket. I swear the Omni-heat reflective material is magic! December 18, 2014
Fashion meets comfort and warmth I have this jacket in the shorter length so I decided to try it in the longer length. It has not disappointed. Even though it is thin, the omni-heat keeps you warm. I went up one size for comfort with the length. It fits well and comfortably. December 18, 2014
Love it But... I love this jacket BUT please be aware that it is not a 20 or below coat. Great for fall and early winter where the temps are 25 to 50 degrees. Really had an expectation that it would keep me warm at least until it hit 10 degrees in Wisconsin. Not going to cut it. I'll keep it because I love it, but now I'm looking for a Wisconsin-proof winter coat - if such a thing exists. Go Pack Go! December 18, 2014
Perfect for New England winters This jacket is perfect. It provides plenty of warmth and protection without bulk. It's comfortable, stylish and easy to move in. December 17, 2014
Great coat but too small I ordered this coat in a large as I was hoping to be able to wear it with several layers underneath, unfortunately it was too small for that so I had to return it. Its a very light coat, which I imagine would be very warm (I only tried it on at home). I haven't had any Columbia items before so I am not that familiar with their sizing- however I am a US 10. December 17, 2014
Light and comfy I love this coat, but feel it would not work for anyone with hips. I have very narrow hips and the small fits me perfectly through the shoulders, but is snug through the hips if I have any type of sweater on with it. I love the thumb holes and knit lining for my hands. December 17, 2014
Bought more than 1 I really like this light weight coat. I am 5'4" and weight 125lbs. I have an hour glass figure, bought the extra small and it is small in the hips but the shoulders and arms fit well. My sister & niece liked it so much they both bought one. The material does pull easily and the length should be a few inches longer. December 16, 2014
Not what I expected After reading the mixed reviews on people in the north using this as their winter coat, I took the leap and made the purchase. I returned it the day after I received it. I tested it by standing outside on a 20-ish degree day and it did not keep me warm. The major deciding factor for me was the fit. The hood doesn't tighten, so it stands up a bit. It was snug around the waist and chest, but really baggy and long in the arms. I usually have the opposite problem with arms. I ended up exchanging it for a long down-filled Columbia coat in an modern classic fit that worked great. It fit right and definitely keeps me warm enough for MN winters. December 16, 2014
Love! Great lightweight and comfortable jacket. I never wear winter jackets. They are never warm and always too bulky. This one is thin, WARM, comfortable, fashionable and practical for me. I would recommend to everyone! December 16, 2014
good jacket but not for freezing temperatures... It's a good jacket for up to 35 degrees for lower temperatures you will have to bundle up underneath. I usually wear a size 4 for my pants in columbia brand but I order my jackets medium to have more room to layer. I guess it's true to size but if you want more room order a size up... December 16, 2014
Great Coat I purchased this coat on "Black Friday", I was curious about the lite weight, plus the warmth of the coat. Well, I'm the first to omit this coat is excellent for the east coast cold. Also, I dont feel like the Michelin Man when wear this coat. December 15, 2014
Jacket I love this jacket. True to size and it is not bulky December 15, 2014
Very happy with this coat This coat was recommended by a friend who lived in the Philippines until a few years ago and is very sensitive to our Chicago cold temps. I knew that if it was a warm coat to her, it would be just what I was looking for. And it is! I'm happy with my purchase December 15, 2014
Disappointed in this coat I bought this coat last year and have been sadly disappointed by it. I love the Abyss color and the cuffs with the thumbholes, although they are a little short for my long arms. My main issues with this coat are that it 1. doesn't keep me warm; 2. does not repel wind; 3. does not repel water. I live in northern NJ and our winters can be cold (temps in the teens and single digits F.), and unfortunately, as much as I wanted to love this jacket, I don't. Shoveling snow when it is still cold/windy/snowing only makes me colder. Also, the fact that there is no collar inside the hood, and no way to synch the hood mean tying a scarf around the outside of the hood to keep it up and keep cold or wind from going down my back. I am 5'9" 155 lbs and the medium is a smidge small. I DO like the color, the cuffs inside the sleeves, the overall length, the lightness of the coat and it is very soft. It's great if you're sitting in a warm car on a long trip. Unfortnately it is not my favorite. December 11, 2014
Abyss I ordered abyss, expecting to have dark navy. It is dark navy when it is dark. When it is bright, it changes to a bit light grayish blue. I love the color. It is a right length, and I love everything so far, like other reviewers. Omni heat makes so warm. When I first tried it at home, I incidentally felt warm. It was warm outside as well. December 9, 2014
Not Warm Enough I really wanted to like this coat! It is very lightweight and fit well (though it runs smalls - I had ordered a larger size because I read previous reviews). I had my doubts on how warm it would be, because it is so thin. So I took a short walk around my neighborhood in 20 degree weather...I was freezing, so I will be returning it. I think this coat is probably best for folks who live in mid-Atlantic states where it doesn't get as cold, but it's not ideal for upper Midwest states and harsh, cold winters. December 7, 2014
A bit thinner than it looks...however! I've only had this coat for a couple of weeks, but I love it! It looks a bit thicker in the picture than it actually is, but that doesn't seem to be affecting it's warm-ability! I'm always cold, but this jacket with a light sweater or sweat shirt, keeps me very warm! The length of the sleeves are perfect for my "gorilla" arms, and the thumb holes guarantee a snow free sleeve! December 5, 2014
disappointed :( I bought my first columbia jacket 4 years ago, it was so coooool, so I decided that next jacket will be columbia again. Size and colour ok, but the first and the biggest problem that it is NOT WARM!!!! It is so AWFUL! It is very thin :( You can get warm if only you run or jump in it or something like this, but if you walk you begin to freeze immediately. Unfortunately, I can't return it, because worn 2-3 times, but I won't use it. I can use this jacket only when the weather is warm, but it is so stupid buy jacket for winter and don't use it... I'm very disappointed with this. Don't buy for everyday life! December 2, 2014
Not as warm as I hoped I have a very similar Columbia jacket that I bought from TJ Maxx, the jacket is amazingly warm, and I got a really good deal on the price. When I bought this jacket I was expecting it to be the same kind of warmth just a bit longer, but it's not as warm as I hoped it would be. It is not a a Chicago winter jacket, but overall the jacket looked just as shown. December 2, 2014
Abyss is BLUE! I bought this coat mostly for the price. The title explains enough that it is "light" weight, however it's a lot more thin than I thought. I also thought the color Abyss was a dark grey color, but to my surprise, it's actually navy blue. I never wore it to try it out for warmth, I simply returned it because of the color and ended up getting the Apres Arson Long Down coat (in the dark grey color I wanted). November 29, 2014
Love this coat, love the omniheat! I am surprised how warm this is for such a thin/not bulky coat! The thumb holes in the sleeves are great, and so warm, handling a Wisconsin winter well! Was a spontaneous purchase, but LOVE it! November 28, 2014
Doesn't keep its shape My coat has stretched and now doesn't look good on. I wear it in the car a lot and I guess it stretches when you wear it sitting down. I have never experienced this with my other winter coats, including my previous Columbia coat so I am very disappointed. Also, some threads from stitching on the exterior of the coat are coming loose. November 24, 2014
Best coat I live in northern MA, also called the snow belt, wicked cold here! It's already been in the teens and low 20's here. That said I hoped that this coat would keep me warm because I'm always cold. I was not disappointed, this coat keeps me so warm it's light weight. It's not bulky. I love this coat!!! I tell everyone how warm this keeps me. My daughter wants to borrow my coat all the time. Nope this coat is gold to me! The best value, I bought a Under Amour last year and returned it because it did not keep me warm I am so glad I bought this coat!! Everyone said it runs small, I didn't think it did I bought a medium because I wear sweaters but I still have plenty. That being said I think it runs true to size. November 22, 2014
Fantastic Coat I love this coat! I'm never cold when I'm wearing this, and I do a lot of walking around campus. It's perfect for a Michigan winter. It's very good with the wind and its water-proof. It's super comfortable and runs very true to size. Even the pockets are really warm and good for keeping your hands warm. November 20, 2014
Awesome coat!!! I was looking for a really warm winter coat but wanted something that did not make me look like a giant marshmellow and most "puffy"coats do. This coat exceeded all of my expectations. It is slim and trim in appearance and the "omni" heat is incredible!! Hard to believe that a coat as light and comfortable as it is can also keep me so warm. I would highly recommend, in fact after getting mine, I ordered a second one for my daughter and she loves it as well!! November 19, 2014
Ok if you're not a super cold person The jacket is ok for a person who is not super cold all the time. I am always cold. I live in Atlanta and when we hit those 30s or below I feel very uncomfortable. So, I tried this jacket on and I still felt cold. Maybe I had super high expectations.... other than that it was good. Nice fit, light. The hood doesn't stay put.. it kind of falls back so you'll need ear cuffs... I am 5'2 and ordered an M. It fit fine. November 10, 2014
Extremely Lightweight, Really Warm I read all the reviews about this coat before buying and I think they are all pretty accurate. The coat is lightweight, I was shocked when I took it out of the package. I was a little skeptical of how warm it would be, but I have been pretty happy with it! So far Indiana hasn't hit it's height of winter, but it has been in the 40s and with a light hoodie under my coat I have kept quite warm. I will say that layering is still needed with this coat, long sleeves or a jacket under it seem to improve the over-all warmth that the coat provides. Everyone says go up a size, I just followed the size chart provided and it fits perfectly. The zipper is easy to use -- unlike some long coats I've had in the past -- and I love that the sleeves are long with thumbholes in them to keep your hands warm! It's a great coat. November 7, 2014
Incredibly Light. Incredibly Warm. I ordered this coat for a trip I was planning to take overseas. I needed a coat that would pack easily but also keep me warm, while still letting me be able to move freely. From the product description, this coat seemed like a winner. When I pulled it out of the box, I was very skeptical. This thing is SO LIGHT. I was sure there was no way it could keep me warm. When I wore it outside for the first time, I was shocked at how warm I was. In fact, I got hot quickly and unzipped the bottom and top to cool off a bit. This is the perfect coat for winter traveling. November 7, 2014
Lightweight but High Heat! The jacket was very light. Upon use, however, I found it to be quite warm. November 3, 2014
Too Thin I was super excited to receive this coat, when it came in the mail and i saw the thin (as thin as a college text book) box it came in I knew right away that it was not going to be what i wanted. I am from Chicago and take the train everyday and sometimes have to stand outside for long periods of time so I need a really warm coat. This one is way too thin and i know its not going to keep me warm when its really cold outside. Its good if you live somewhere where the temperature doesn't drop past 30 or so. I wanted to give it a try to see if the omni heat really works but at the price i paid and the way the weather will be it is not worth the risk. :( October 30, 2014
Beautiful Color This jacket fits me true to size. I do wish there was something to tighten the hood. On windy days it blows off easily. I love the color purple I got. i reccomend this jacket. I also love how you can unzip it from the top or bottom. October 29, 2014
VERY POOR QUALITY I got this jacket around middle of September 2014 and writing this review on October 27, 2014 I'm 5ft, 120-125lb, size small top/ 2 jeans, 34c bust. My body type is between curvy and slim. The size small in Quill is a little big but I consider it a good thing if you're looking to be able to wear a decent fleece underneath. It kept me really warm in the 40-50 degrees windy fall weather in Boston. It stops right at the top of my knee. The reason why I'm giving only 1 star is because its quality. I only had this jacket for about one month and iT ALREADY HAS A RIP!!! Its very small but its still a rip. I only worn this walking around town, didn't go in the woods, didn't catch on anything, didn't do anything strenuous. Because of this, I don't recommend anyone buying the mighty lite. If your jacket lasts, then it's a really warm and "lite" jacket. October 27, 2014
runs smaller I purchased this coat for fall, wasn't going to wear it in winter/ but even for fall it's cold for me. it's extremely thin, and I feel cold in it. Besides my size is x small, but I can wear this only on a light shirt, can't wear something warmer underneath. But size small is too big for me, so I will have to return this coat. October 23, 2014
