Big and comfy I bought these in purple as hang around boardshorts. They're a little too short to be call boardshorts but still long enough that I feel comfortable. I found the mediums to be huge though! It's nice and comfy but not really cute. I usually find the Columbia mediums to be a tiny bit large but that's how I prefer them, these are kinda excessive. great style but loose waist I love the cut and low-rider waist band of these shorts BUT the waist is very loose and what looked like a draw string in the product photos is purely decorative. This means these shorts will be relegated to poolside since they'd surely come off if I tried to kayak or white water raft in them. Pity. April 14, 2013
finally! Love the waist band. Ok, Columbia - you got these right. Short enough to be sexy, but the fit is functional. I DO NOT feel like a tom-boy in these. They do fit a bit large, I am between sizes and can wear a medium or a small depending on the cut. I noticed in the other reviews that shorts run big, so I bought small. PERFECT. I don't really plan on swimming in these - just outside and in the gym...and during professional house lounging of course. If I did swim in them, I would have a problem coming out of the water because they cannot be tied tight. On the other hand, they won't dig into a 'non-perfect' waist like most of Columbia's pants do. I won't buy Columbia pants because of their weird waist band fit, but these are elastic and are more forgiving. (I have had twins, so I have a tiny bit of extra skin in the tummy area.) LOVE THEM!! I love these shorts! I got three pair in the pink and purple, the pink, and the black. I am normally a size 8 and got the medium. They fit well until I get in the water and there isn't a draw string to they get pulled off as you get out. I would recommecd a size small. They will fit snug at first but the water breaks them in. Thay take five minutes to dry and are the perfect length for swim shorts! I definitely recommend some to everyone! April 30, 2012

Disappointed no drawstring Great quality and fabric.I bought a medium to wear over a swimsuit while diving. I usually wear a small. There is a decorative faux drawstring but I really need to tighten them up and can't. Otherwise a nice product. March 18, 2012
