Rated 4 out of 5 by Order your normal size. I really like this raincoat because I wanted something longer that the jacket I have. I tried on the XL in the store and it was snug enough at the hips that I thought I wouldn't be able to wear a sweatshirt underneath so I decided to order on line. So I carefully measured myself and ordered the 2X in blue based upon the size chart here. It took a week to arrive and it was huge - I think I could have wrapped it around me twice and the sleeves were well beyond my fingertips. So I returned it at the local outlet and ordered the 1X online in pink (blue had sold out). After a week it just arrived and it is still a bit too large for me but I am keeping it because they don't make a 0X nor an XXL and I really like the coat. with the velcro cuffs I can make the sleeves work. And I think it will layer nicely with a bulky sweater or sweatshirt and still be easy to move in. The only thing I don't like is how the hood adjustment looks - there is a loop of elastic that sticks out on either side of my face. (see photo) The adjustment works great meaning it fit my head and face without covering my eyes or being loose. What I learned is the size charts don't line up with sizes and you should order the size you would buy in a department store. And I wish Columbia would make a 0X and also carry women's sizes in the retail stores. May 14, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice Bright Colour Colour: I was very happy with the colour of the jacket - I purchased the Miami Lace Print. It's bright and the pattern is very feminine. Size: I ordered a size up (3X as opposed to a 2X) based on the reviews that the jacket fit small and I am swimming in this jacket. I could wear 2 sweaters under it and it would still have room for more. I will return for a size down. Material: The jacket is quite thin, I was expecting a little more to it - however it will be great for wet days camping this summer and will not make me too warm. It has light mesh type liner inside it, but not on the arms - that may prove to make it feel sticky if wearing with a short sleeved shirt in the summer. Overall: Overall, still content with my purchase - just wish i ordered my size rather than going up a size. May 4, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Too much grey Loved this waterproof jacket but was too noisy - sounds so crinkley for me. Just a little big. April 24, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Too small I should have listened to other reviewers. This item was way too small in the shoulders and arms. I couldn't even get it on, and it was a 3X and I normally wear 2X. Columbia, I hope you realize that when people wear a 3X, they are usually fat, and that means fat arms. Sent it right back. January 27, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Plain Jane tight in the chest and upper arms Great quality nice fit every where but upper body. I am a 2x-3x normally and bought 3x so I layer it but it would be tight fit with sweater so returning it. 3x pardon my trench fits looser. October 30, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice This jacket is perfect for rain and really keeps you dry. It's not a super warm coat but it works if you layer because there's a little wiggle room. I did go a size up though, if I had gotten a 1X it wouldn't have fit my shoulders. The design is a bit awkward, the back poofs out a bit on me, but maybe that's just me. Overall, it's a really great jacket that'll get the job done leaving you free to splash around a little. October 29, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Can't wait to go to London I've been looking for a true waterproof jacket for years. This one REALLY is. The first thing I did after trying it on was to hold my arm under the kitchen faucet and watch the water roll off. I always thought Columbia was too expensive for me, but it isn't and the quality is superb. I fall between 2 sizes so I bought the larger size and there is plenty of room for a sweater or fleece under it. The picture doesn't do the fabric pattern justice. It is very understated and almost looks like a Harris tweed pattern. Just bought my husband a Columbia jacket with the same waterproof fabric. October 1, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Keeps You Dry The jacket is a decent quality but there is no lining in the sleeves so the sleeves instantly stick to your bare arms and it is uncomfortable. The bottom back poofs out and looks silly. The jacket folds up nicely to put in the bottom of my rucksack for easy access. I wore the jacket on a cruise to Alaska and the two times it rained I stayed dry. I normally wear a size 2X but I knew it would be freezing cold by the glaciers(and it was) so I chose to purchase a 3X to fit over my fleece hoodie. I still had enough room to comfortably move my arms and bend without feeling in a bind and I was really warm but not hot. I bought a mens omni-tech jacket for my husband and there is lining in his sleeves! What's up with that? Put lining in the women's jacket's sleeves too please! September 14, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by You definitely get what you pay for! I bought this jacket for camping and for staying dry. It has done everything it has been bought for. The price may be a little up there, but it is definitely worth it. Love this jacket. July 18, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very functional This coat is exactly what I was looking for. The day I got it we had torrential rain and I wore it and it kept me dry. It is a lightweight and breathable coat. The back is slightly longer and I love the fact that it covers down to my knees. Perfect for warm weather but could wear layers with it for extra warmth if there is a cool rain out there. July 2, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by This coat meets all of my needs I love the lines and fit. Excellent construction and quality. April 17, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by A Winner! I wanted a nice rain jacket with a hood. I like that the jacket is long, so it keeps me covered better in the rain. I bought it a little big, so I could use it in the winter with a sweater underneath and in the other seasons without. I'm very happy with my purchase. April 14, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Mom Rain coat This is just your typical Mom raincoat with those great Columbia bells and whistles. It is a big through the body, but a little tight around the arms, typical problem for me. It bells out a little on the bottom- especially in front (yuck) which was almost enough for me to send it back. I have had a ton of trouble finding a raincoat this season and this was the best that I have found. I got the black and blue print, which is pretty without being IN YOUR FACE bold. the sleeves are plenty long and have adjustable straps. It's not to heavy, perfect for spring/fall, and the hood is adjustable and big enough for a pony tail or bun. the two way zipper sticks a bit. but it's a nice feature. July 18, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Simple lines and secure pockets Great for travel, because it's so lightweight. Gave 4 Stars because Sleeve length is a little long, but better than too short. Also, upper arm is a little snug, not roomy enough to comfortably wear a thicker sweater underneath for layering. Love that the hood fits snuggly to keep you protected and is adjustable and fantastic that the front pockets have zippers! Good thinking, Columbia! July 9, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by This is absolutely not red I can't imagine a world where someone would call this red, hibiscus or otherwise. It's hot coral. (Do an image search for "hot coral" and you'll see the color of this jacket.) I think many people who want a red raincoat would object to this color, so Columbia needs to call it something else, and fix the product photos, because they are totally misleading. I never would have ordered this if I'd known it was coral. This was a big waste of my time. The shoulders on this jacket are too tight for me, but the fabric bags up under the arms and below the bust, and the A-line sticks out at the thigh. I'm tall but the sleeves are a good 2" too long. I have a generous bustline, but in this jacket, my chest looks tiny and my stomach looks bigger than it is, because of the seaming and weird fit. The top of the hood hovers a couple of inches above my head. Not good. I'm really disappointed. I bought two jackets with the thought that I might have to return one, and I'm glad I did. (In short, the shoulders run small and the rest of the jacket runs large--I don't have big shoulders, either. My sister is four inches shorter than I am, different build, smaller, and the shoulders were too tight on her, too.) I've had an Arcadia jacket for a few years, and I just received my second, in a larger size (for layering). The Splash a Little is longer and lighter-weight than the Arcadia, has an easy-to-use two-way zip, and its zipper panel has snaps instead of that awful "hook and loop," which is all good, but the Arcadia is still way better. The shoulder/chest seams on the Arcadia are really flattering and the cut is roomy enough for movement without being baggy. It feels "tougher" as well. I wish it were longer and had a two-way zip, but them's the breaks. I'd recommend that one if you like being able to move your arms comfortably! April 11, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Works for me! I ordered this jacket before a spring trip where I needed one jacket to span temps from the high 30s to low 60s (and possible rain). Here's what I like: 1. It's roomy enough to wear layers underneath. 2. For packing purposes, it squashes down into an unbelievably small space and looks fine when you take it out. 3. The side pockets zip, which is great for holding keys, gloves, etc. without fear of losing them. 4. The length provides more coverage in case of rain than many jackets, but without the bulk of a trench coat. 5. It's warmer than it looks if you are walking around a lot. My one complaint is that the zipper is hard to work. Despite more than 30 years of independent zipper experience, I struggle with it every time. When I am in a hurry, I just do the snaps. Based on the size guide and my hip measurement of 48, I originally ordered a 2X and was swimming in it. I returned the 2X for a 1X, and the 1X works well, even with a fairly bulky sweater underneath. March 25, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by It works, but it's nothing special I did end up keeping this jacket because honestly I just needed a waterproof jacket that looked a little more like a coat, so I could wear over a suit or dress for work, for instance. I am a little disappointed with this jacket. It looks fine, but it's not really that stylish. While I appreciate that it's lightweight, it feels and looks kind of flimsy -- not nearly as nice as I wanted it to when I'm spending $100+ on something. The zipper is a nightmare -- the two bottom zipper pulls are nearly impossible to line up and zip with ease. Luckily, there are snaps as well, or I'd have had to send this one back. Again, I was a little bit desperate to get a rain jacket quickly (Seattle) so this will do. I just wish it was nicer than it is. March 24, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Exactly as advertised I really like this jacket - it is a little large, but that is my own fault I read the reviews that stated the arms ran small, so I ordered a size up. Mistake on my part - I would say it is true to size. Everything else is great! March 12, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect! I recently purchased this coat to use for my daily walks when it rains and for an upcoming trip to the UK. I have family living in Scotland and they recommend leaving the umbrella at home and bring a waterproof coat instead. I spent a great deal of time researching coats and this was the best choice and price for me. The Inkling print is pretty, a true navy and will go nicely with my blue wellies! February 9, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Love the style and pattern This coat, especially in the upper arm, runs small. I normally wear a 1x or 2x, depending on the style of the garment. With this coat I definitely need a 3x if I ever want to wear clothes under it and move comfortably. I am returning it with the hope there is a 3x available. Since I haven't worn it in the rain, I cannot attest to its waterproof feature; I am relying on the reliable name of "Columbia". January 28, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Quality of coat The coat seemed to lack the quality I've experienced with Columbia in the past. For example the hood is attached. The coat seemed exceptionally flimsy. I did like the fact that the coat was longer than many I've seen. I don't mind paying more for quality. I was very disappointed and I have returned the coat. January 14, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love It the only thing is that you are correct when saying that the product runs a little smaller - love the coat, lightweight enough not to be to hot and still keeps you warm and dry -- my last coat was from Columbia and loved it, had for several years so had to turn it into my work coat. December 13, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Jacket Really like this jacket. I don't think it runs small at all. I got a 1X and I normally would wear a 2X. It fit fine.I like the longer length. The jacket is actually a little heavier than I expected it to be. I thought it would be really thin. October 23, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Fits a little small, nice styling While I'd like a little more of a fitted profile, this coat is comfortable and the sleeves fit well. October 15, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Perfect all purpose rain coat. I ordered this rain coat for a trip to Switzerland in September. As usual with Columbia, it arrived within 2 days! I love it. The weight is perfect, the fit is excellent, and it looks sharp. The only issue is, the sleeves are a bit long...same problem I've had with other Columbia products. October 4, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Women's Splash A Little™ Rain Jacket I bought this jacket for an upcoming trip to Paris, France where it rains a lot so I haven't worn it yet. However, it fits great, has enough length and looks quite smart. I think I will be really happy with it. August 2, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Sleeves too tight This is a very nice jacket, but the fit is a bit off. I ordered a 3X. I usually wear a 2X in most clothing. I was able to zip the jacket, but didn't have much wiggle room. The sleeves were also very tight on my upper arms. I also didn't care much for the color when I received it. I ordered the Grill expecting a nice gray. The color is more of a dirty gray. Wish I had ordered the black instead. July 21, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice longer length rain jacket I really like the longer length and originally bought the grill color, which is a nice charcoal color, but the zipper stuck, so I exchanged it and they had the Burnt Henna Lattic print available in my size so I got that instead and love it. Really vibrant color picks me up on a rainy day...which we have a lot of here in Portland =). Well constructed and great fit. May 8, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by great fit for a tall girl I have trouble with fit being tall and large- but this is great. The length goes over my bottom. It has snaps and a two way zipper. There is also an inside pocket. A hood that is just the right size. I bought the Grill color which is great- goes with most things. Now I am looking to buy the red so people can see me when I am walking the hills. March 29, 2013
