Rated 5 out of 5 by Really Keeps You Dry I wore these over my pants when coaching track practice in the NW rainy Spring. Kept me super dry in 3 hours of rain multiple times. I also wore them in Iceland hiking for 4 hours in torrential rain. Again, stayed very dry. September 30, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good pant-not so good fabric I have recently bought this pant and used it for the first time last week in Alaska, during an all day rainy week. I used it almost all the time and always kept my under layers dry. I tried them on also without the under layers and felt comfortable as well in contact with skin. They allowed me any movement I needed to do during camping, hiking, and also sailing. They are very comfortable and looks really nice on me. I am 5'2'' and curved although my 110 lb, 27 1/2 waist and 38 1/2 hip, with regular inseam. Following the chart size I am an S, but as I already have another Columbia pants -snow pants, convertible pants- I know I am XS, so that's what I asked for and it fits perfect on me!! The only issue is that when arriving home I noticed that the bottom was a little scrapped and also got a small gash on one side. I could not believe that because I carefully avoided sitting down on surfaces that could damage the pant. I felt really disappointed when seeing that after the first use, specially because I loved the pant. I would like a harder fabric for the pant. August 11, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Rainpants My pants fit perfectly, but the only thing was they were too long. I chose regular instead of the short length. I will probably return these and reorder in the short length. July 31, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Tough and comfortable These pants have exceeded my expectations. I work as an outdoor professional and wear these for 5-6 hours at a time. I purchased a size medium. I am normally a small, but the medium fits perfectly in both waist size and length. I wear these over my regular work pants too. They are very lightweight which keeps my legs from getting too hot with both these and my regular pants on (hiking in about 50-60 degree weather). However, even though they are lightweight, they are tough. I push through a lot of brush (I don't hike on trails) on steep terrain, and these pants haven't ripped. I would not wear these as my only pants unless I was somewhere very, very hot as they are pretty thin. I like that you can adjust the tightness of the ankles to prevent the pants from riding up. They also fit nice in relation to where they fit on the hips. They are not up at the belly button, but they aren't low risers either. May 17, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by totally preforms as described Purchased three months ago and have worn a dozen times in rain, 20mph wind, and snow. They have gotten me outside when I would not have gone before and I was totally comfortable. January 9, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Just what I hoped for I live in the Pacific Northwest and rain is an ubiquitous presence. My wife needed something to keep her legs dry while walking the dogs, so I got these rain pants as a gift. They were perfect -- fitted so well she sometimes forgets she still has them on and wears them around the house. They keep the rain out but still breathes. I thought the legs might be long, but they work very well as they fit over her boots and just down to the foot. I am truly happy. December 27, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by A little short Had to replace my other waterproof pants because they had sprung a leak and was very happy with how these pants keep the water out! I use them for biking to work in Portland and they've been great in pouring rain. I'm 5' 5" and I ordered an XS-- they fit well but are a little short, didn't exchange them for a S because I liked the fit around the waist and despite being short they still don't leak. Highly recommend them! November 14, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by nice and dry I have worn many rain pants over the years and these perform perfectly. The fit is perfect for the more athletic build an XS actually fits (yahoo). no frills, nothing to go wrong, perfect simple design. September 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect! Bought these rain pants last year for a 2 week trek through Patagonia. In that region, one can see all 4 seasons (in an extreme way) in one afternoon. They kept me dry when I needed to be. I am normally a size 4 and the the Small size was perfect to wear other pants. I still had room to move. September 13, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Women’s Storm Surge™ Pant Bought these for my wife and she loves them. They pack up small so they are always available. March 1, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for commuter cycling in rain Great for cycling in the rain in Seattle! Fit: If you are planning to wear them 'over' other pants, get a size up for sure. I am on average a size 6 (depending on the cut of the pant in question) and I ordered a size medium in these pants. Had plenty of room to pull on over my clothing-even my bulkier pants. They have a draw string waist to make up any difference so are very forgiving if you happen to find you have more room than you need in them on any certain day i.e. wearing them over thin pants vs. thicker pants underneath. NOTE: They would not be considered 'relaxed through hip and thigh' so if you are lucky enough to have great curves, take this into consideration and get a size up x2 for the scenario of wearing over your other clothing. These pants are cut fairly straight down from the waist. Waterproof - YES - Rain has just run off every time. Would recommend to a friend, enemy, frienemy(?) Happy rainy trails to all! Rated 2 out of 5 by Great pant but HUGE These pants run really really large. I ended up with an XS and they were still too large and had to sadly return December 1, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Pressure washing pant I work in a marina, and sometimes I have to pressure wash boat bottoms in the fall.(yuk) If I can't keep dry I am going have a miserable day or change my clothes 10 times. These do a great job! November 16, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Runs Very Small for hips! I am typically a pants size 10. Seeing that these run small, I ordered a large. They are still very tight around the hips. I will be sending them back to get a size XL. July 24, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Easy-care dryness The pants fit well and feel good on the skin, even when wet. The leg cuff is wide enough to get on over non-bulky shoes and can then be tightened. The thing I love most is that they can be thrown in the dryer on delicate, and they dry in a jiffy. Or, if I hang them in a line, they dry inside and out without having to be turned that way. That's important to me, because I use them on my rafting trips. It saves lots of time between them. July 12, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Rain Gear Pants These pants are awesome! Keeps out the rain and the mud. The Velcro tightening/hemming feature on the bottom of the leg is ingenious, it's great for shorter heights. The only thing is these pants are not very breathable and lack pockets, other than that a great buy. Buy a size up so they are not so bulky when layering in the winter months. April 14, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 Getting the job done. These pants are great! I was looking for an alternative to snow/ski pants- less bulk but just was waterproof. These do the job perfectly! I use them regularly for XC skiing, snowshoeing and ice fishing adventures. They are holding up really well in the knee and bum area on the jagged ice. They fit well too and allow plenty of movement for my 5'6, size 10 frame. A regular inseam is just right. February 4, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Too long Everything was perfect about these pants. The fit. The waterproof. Except I had to have them shortened about 3 inches, and I wanted to have the Velcro work to tighten the bottom around the foot, so I had to move one of the pieces of Velcro October 26, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by AWESOME! These keep you warm & dry!! AND as a bonus they look great! October 7, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Rain Pants need to come in different lengths The pants are fine, but since they have openings at the bottom of the legs, they cannot be adjusted (hemmed) easily if you have short legs. It's nice to have them roomy, so you can wear over normal pants, but to get them big enough for that, they are several inches too long. July 25, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by A Rainy Spring Through several downpours and non-stop drizzling I stayed high and dry. It was nice to get to enjoy some of the benefits of fishing in the rain without feeling like a drowned muskrat. I found my body temperature stayed at a comfortable range too with one exception. When the sun broke through on a few occasions (though never for very long) I found the black pants to attract the heat of the sun. I'm hoping Columbia comes out with these pants in some lighter colors. Maybe some that pair up nicely with their jackets for a polished, pro-uniform look on the water. I'll give these pants an 8 out of 10. I'm deducting a point because there are no pockets and because of black being the only available color. Other than that, this is a great product that I would recommend to anyone who wants to be able to fish rain or shine. April 29, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great confort great looking, comfortable rain pants April 16, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Women's Storm Surge™ Pant Columbia buttered me up saying I am an intelligent and discerning shopper (and good looking, too) in requesting this review. Here ya go. I plan to use this pant for its intended purpose. It fits a little small in the seat, but that might be my personal problem. I like them. February 10, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Rain Pants They certainly keep the weather out and that is number one. The pull on waist is an improvement, but I find the fit a bit straight for my curvy figure, so a little snug in the hip/thigh and loose in the waist. The velcro tabs at the ankles are great but I wish they could go tighter for bike riding. January 14, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Finally, petite length waterproof pants! I have tried on many different pairs of waterproof pants, but until now, I just couldn't find a pair that didn't need to have at least three inches taken off the hem. With the velcro at the ankle, I can snug the hem and not be stepping on them as I walk. Great feature! The fit is true, just enough room for a base layer. I have yet to wear them in a heavy rain, so I can not comment. December 22, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great for over trousers Ordered large instead of medium, which is my usual trouser size, since I was looking for something to wear over trousers in the rain. Fit and quality is great, only pockets are missing. November 15, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Womens Storm Surge Pants Fit perfect, love the elastic waist! Nice to keep me dry in the rain! October 19, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Waterproof Storm Surge Pants Great pant and fit. Side pockets would have been a nice extra. August 14, 2011
Rated 3 out of 5 by Pockets? I like these, but a few cargo pockets would have been welcomed! July 25, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful Pants I work in a grooming salon as a bather, and really needed some durable water-proof pants. These are absolutely awesome! The water just slides off of them. They're super comfortable and breath well. I'm definitely going to be ordering a few more pairs of these. May 24, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great rain pants I haven't really tested these pants in the rain, but I think they will do the trick for tailgating and football games this fall. I bought a size bigger so that I could comfortably put them on over jeans in the event of a storm. There isn't any lining in them, so I like being able to wear them over something. The only thing keeping this from a 5 star review is that I wish there were pockets. Other than that, great fit and functionality. May 10, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Rain Gear Pants Love it.... May 5, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Women's Storm Surge Pants The first time I bought a Colombia product was a few hears ago when I bought a vest for my husband. He loved it. So I decided to buy the pants and a rain jacket for my self because I am always outdoors-rain or shine. I was not disappointed. I received the pants on time. They fit perfectly and I know that I would use them often when I travel to Alaska or for many of my outdoor activities. They are light, warm, comfortable, and very practical. March 26, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Water proof pants I love these pants. I'm a dog groomer and working with water is an everyday thing. These pants are great and waterproof so getting soaked is no longer a problem. March 23, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Not great for over pants I bought these pants to wear over other clothes during the rainy season in Guatemala. They do their job, but in order to fit them over other pants I needed a large (a size larger than normal) they are therefore big in the waist but not so much that it really matters. March 20, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome rain pants! I got these for work and I love them! I got a small and was worried that they would be a little short, but they were prefect. I've worn them a couple times so far and they have kept me nice and dry. March 19, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful rain pants Purchased for track team and are working perfectly March 18, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Women's Storm Surge Pant nice fit, true to size, comfortable and light weight, kept me dry, no sweating inside of pants or jacket. February 24, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Storm Pants These pants just fit. There is no room for shorts or long johns underneath. January 19, 2011
Rated 1 out of 5 by Too small!! I'm an XL. These pants are supposed to fit over my jeans?? I can manage to squeeze them in on skin (right fit), but the whole point was to be able to wear them on top of other pants to keep my pants wam. I just got them and I want to return them! January 6, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by rain pants love the rain pants, light weight November 28, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Stayed warm and dry! Fab rain pants, wore over jeans to a cold and rainy soccer game, stayed dry! November 1, 2010
