Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Warm Jacket will keep you dry Shipped promptly. Jacket is very warm and keeps you dry even in very wet weather. Runs a little snug around hips making getting into pants pockets just a bit difficult. I am 5'9" and weigh 160 lbs. That being said, I think it is a great jacket. I have had other Columbia interchange jackets before and have been happy with them all. Bought this new one (size L) because I lost a significant amount of weight and older jacket was an XL and a bit too roomy and cold air would blow into it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best coat for the Midwest We have such strange weather this year, a coat of this caliper is just perfect for the warm days and cold mornings and evenings. Thanks again Columbia for making such a high quality coat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Coat This is my third Omni heat coat in the last five+ years. In the past, I've been impressed with the excellent warmth and reduced weight, compared to non-Omni heat jackets. But, this one is even warmer and lighter due to the 590 Turbo down inner layer. It has lots of nice pockets and and many nice features like inner pockets and a ski pass pocket on the sleeve. Kudos to Columbia for combining Omni heat and down together.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 3 in 1 for about everything Overall I am very happy with this purchase, I have had the opportunity to use this coat in a variety of conditions. I purchased the large back in late Dec 2017. I am 5'9 about 170 lbs overall pretty active outside. I live in Northern Michigan. The only real negative I will give it is if I have both of them on at the same time and driving in the car it is a little snug, but this is going to ski hill and is a short distance. Break down on the outer shell. I have been able to use this is in the rain, snow and sleet. in the sleet and I had hoodie under it I was running in and out of locations kept me dry and it was windy. As another person had mentioned it would be nice if the hood was little smaller, but this was not a deal breaker for me. Love the outer shell warm. light weight easy to zip in and out of. Break down on the inner shell (590 TD) I personally love this inner part. It is very light weight and is my go to all purpose coat at the moment going to and from work (I work in doors not outside) walking from the parking structure to the building on a windy day (say 15-20 mph or higher) the wind will penetrate this inner shell so make sure you have the outer shell on these days. I am little apprehensive that I might rip or tear this at some point, but most down coats I have been looking at all appear to be about the same (and yes I am sure they are not). I like the large myself it does not feel bulky and normally I just have a dress shirt or long sleeve tee shirt under this at the current (from Dec 2017 - Feb 2018) time of the review. Using both together - I have had the opportunity to use both of these together skiing and snowboarding. I will say I heated up pretty good one day and the temp was in the high 20's with very little wind and sunny. That day i removed the inner lining and used the outer shell with only tee shirt and a "cold gear" long sleeve shirt and was plenty warm. Another time I was out on slopes it was windy snowing in the single digits and I was still warm with both layers on. I did not feel restricted with both layers on ( I am not doing tricks or playing in the terrain park). I have no problems getting to the inner pockets like some may have mentioned. Out just walking around Lake Michigan with both layers I was warm and comfortable. Over all YES I would recommend this, I do not feel restricted when wearing these together (other than driving like I mentioned). I really appreciated the fact that I have basically 3 coats I can use for almost every season we have in Northern Michigan. My decision came down to quality, price, functionally and my reality of use. My other option was Patagonia (and I am not bashing them at all), overall this won out on what I was looking for, I needed more than just a down jacket that I would wear around, I am not climbing mountains. However I am outside, I do ski, I do hike, and I am out in the elements.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Calpine jacket- excellent for skiing. The Calpine jacket insulates the user against the elements. I recommend it for outdoor activities in cold climates. I use it for skiing in Vermont, and it wards off wind, snow and cold. Layer up underneath it, and you can stay out on the slopes all day. The zipper is strong, the sizing is accurate, and it keeps your core warm on a 15 minute chair lift ride in windy, cold conditions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Calpine jacket Excellent jacket. Nice & warm. Lining ZIPS OUT for warmer temps. Have only been able to wear it a few times, but when it's cold and you want to be outside, it's worth it's weight in gold.
Date published: 2018-02-05
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great All-Around Jacket In a somewhat interesting twist, I actually purchased this jacket AFTER a two-week long hiking adventure in the PNW. After hiking through Gifford-Pinchot in Oregon and through places like Franklin Falls in Washington, I decided to upgrade from my trusty Gerry interchange-type jacket system. The mechanisms for securing the inner down to the outer shell are very reliable and the down itself lives up to its name of a TurboDown, it feels 5-10 degrees warmer immediately after putting it on. While the outer shell definitely lives up to being water-repellent, I haven't had a chance to put it through the elements like I did my last jacket. However, I think it would do just fine in holding up. What I will say though, the hood is somewhat difficult to wear and would be the only part of the jacket I have concerns about. It just has some trouble staying on my head and tightening the loops doesn't seem to hold very well. Appearance-wise, it indeed does look very sharp and I would prefer to wear either this down or outer shell in public because of how good it looks (at least in black). And it helps that each really work on their own, so the down is good in cold temps, the shell in warmer temps, or all together on a cold and wet day. Price wise, if it was full price, I would be a little hesitant to buy it, but only because I feel that no clothing should cost that much. Overall, I would recommend this jacket to anyone looking for a durable, warm jacket that looks very good and has a multitude of uses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Jacket Great jacket, great liner, great shell. Replaced my 17 year old Columbia jacket with this one and it does not disappoint. Runs a little large but has plenty of Velcro and zippers to tighten it up. Can't go wrong here. The liner alone from this jacket makes a great lightweight warm jacket when you don't need the waterproof shell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome 3-in-1 This jacket is amazing. Highly recommended. It will keep you very warm on the coldest day at the slopes; may even make you sweat. It’s a snug fit but works very nicely. The sleeve pocket is handy for your pass and chest pockets are great as well. Buy it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Coat Ordered for my son. He loves that he can just wear the 2 pieces separately. The outer coat is great for rain, or adding it with the inner for really cold, midwestern weather. Should get him through several years!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from RenDel This was a gift to my husband. The jacket is gorgeous; color combination and style are amazing! The jacket looked wonderful on him, but it was returned for being too tight. He has always worn an XLG, and recently lost twenty pounds so we did not feel he was the problem. His current jacket is an XLG and fits great. A size larger, in this new jacket would have made the sleeves too long. It's our loss; stunning coat!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The only Jacket You will need I work outside and was looking for cold wether gear that was both functional and warm. If you are looking for the same this jacket is for you. The 3 in 1 system is prefect for any weather. I use the outer shell as a rain coat and light jacket. The inner liner is a great jacket on its own. The look and feel is amazing. It offers plenty of warmth without being too bulky.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cold coat I bought this coat after my old Columbia disintigrated. It took a while to decide on a coat, I live in a very cold environment and wanted a coat that could keep up. Columbia does not grade their coats on chill factor. They simply suggest that all their coats can handle all environments. I disagree. It is currently -20° outside (that’s a warm day here) That said, my new calpine interchange has done its job perfectly. The little shiny dots in the lining do infact reflect your body heat, the turbo down does what down does best, and the outer shell coat repels the fridgid wind, snow, sleet, and rain without complaint. As for the sizing, I am 6’ 6” (2meters) tall I am slender and lanky in build. I find the fit of the coat comfortable, however I could use more sleeve length, I don’t think Columbia makes a longer coat that is slender. Most companies make a longer coat, but seem to think if you are taller you also need a circus tent for your torso. All in all, I like my coat very much. I do wish I could have given my measurements to build a slightly better sizing, but I shall survive for now. So, if you are looking for a coat that is fitted, warm, and capable, buy the calpine coat. Forget the other coats, this one is warm enough to wear a t-shirt in sub-zero weather, fitted so the wind won’t blow up, and it looks pretty sharp too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Jacket This jacket is very warm in the cold Wisconsin winters. The Omni-Heat Thermal Lining keeps me warm and the Omni-Dry shell keeps me dry. The only downside is that it doesn't have an insulated hood. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm high tech Loved my last Columbia coat that lasted 22 years. Was concerned when this came because it is so light in comparison to the old one. However, if anything it is warmer. Working well in a north midwestern winter. Moves well with the body and style is great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great coat I like the fit and finish. I live in Northern Alberta, but it hasn’t been very cold yet. So far it seems very nice. Will see what it is like at -30 to -40C. Not sure if it is rated at that, but we I’ll see. I have had a couple of Columbia jacks and they have been really nice. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Purchase for Winter Trip to Amsterdam and Iceland We took a cold winter trip to Amsterdam and Iceland and this jacket held up great. We got a lot of snow and rain in Amsterdam and I stayed warm and dry. The inside jacket is very warm and not always needed, luckily it is very easy to remove and put back in the inner coat. Inside coat is also very stylish and looks great with a pair of jeans when hanging in the cafes of Amsterdam. I am 6’1” and 185 pounds and I got the medium. It is a little snug when both jackets are together but has a closer fitting style that I prefer, and does not really restrict me. When the jackets are separated, they each have a little more room and look and feel great. Highly reccomend this jacket.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product is not as advertised I have owned many Columbia jackets. This product is a very tight fit for the same size I wear in every other coat. The fabric is stiff to the touch and feels cheaply made. Columbia quality not in this product. Top it off - Columbia wants ME to pay for the return.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Ultimate Interchange This Interchange as others have said just has everything! You got armpit zippers for ventilation, a ski pass pocket in your left arm, internal security pockets and two external chest pockets! On top of all this this is the only interchange system they put the Voodoo Falls Turbodown in the liner adding an extra layer of comfort and insulation for colder nights. The only downside was the arms I found a little tight as well as the waist but I usually don't fit in 2X and for me the red colored jacket with all these perks was worth the risk and is just borderline a little too tight for me (Waist is exactly measured at 55 inches) and hopefully an encouragement for me to lose some of this belly weight! All in all it is by far the best Interchange system you'll find!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All the bells and whistles! I'd had my prior Columbia coat for over 12 years, and every time I'd looked to get a new coat, I could never find what I wanted. Specifically, my wish list included: - pit zips - waterproof shell - a non-detachable hood (I'd lost the hood to my last coat, and Columbia couldn't replace it) - a three-in-one setup, so that I could use the outer as a rain shell in warmer weather Finally, I found the Calpine and it had everything I needed! It's only been a couple weeks, but we've had some unpredictable weather in Southern Ontario, and it's handled everything I've thrown at it. Water beads nicely on the jacket, leaving me warm and dry, and it doesn't get overly hot inside regardless of the changing weather. The only drawback has been the lack of a two-way zipper, as the jacket extends a little bit below my waist. This is probably only noticeable to me since the sizing runs a little small, though. All in all, I'd definitely recommend this jacket. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile for all weather I bought this for my husband, and he was very happy with the fit, and the comfort level. He has taken the inside out of the jacket for the cooler fall temperature, and when we go snowshoeing this winter, then all layers will be worn. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfection I knew I wanted a Columbia winter jacket because I have heard nothing but great comments from people who own them. I was extremely happy when an outlet store opened near by. Went and purchased this exact jacket in red. Love it..... it is extremely comfortable to wear. Tons of functionality in an extremely light weight feel. Very easy to move around in and doesn't feel bulky. Love this and will definitely be buying more from Columbia.
