Rated 5 out of 5 by Lonewolf7322 from Extremely light weight, durable jacket I cannot express how absolutely amazing this jacket is in terms of its lightweight durability and versatility! Meshed with all-around GREAT design, quality, and superb material, is EXACTLY the reason Columbia products is, in my opinion, the reason why they are one of the most relied on brands in the industry!!! Columbia, Please keep up the GREAT JOB!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Pistolero from In the hood! I like this version of ascender softshell jacket. The hood covers my head perfectly with or without a cap. The medium size is just right for short and broad shouldered guy like me. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by LerTre from What a Steal at $70 I love this jacket, because it is comfortable and warm. It is made of quality materials, so it is not too heavy or bulky. And I love the Navy Blue color; it is bold and not boring. I love the positioning of the pockets and the chest pocket (great for a thin wallet), for sure. You won't find water collecting in your pockets. The only reason I give this jacket 4 stars, instead of 5 stars, is because I wish there were an inside pocket for my phone. I feel like if you were wearing a flannel shirt or a hoodie underneath, you would feel fine on extremely cold days, and there would be no need to break out a bigger and bulkier coat until it got below 50 degrees.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Cynthia2075 from Warm mid-weight coat My husband purchased this coat for wear for travel in 30 and 40 degree temperatures, and it kept him warm. Keeps out the cold wind, and the hood keeps the neck warm. Fits true to size, long enough in body and sleeves for comfortable wear (My husband is 6'2"). This is a good mid weight coat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DannyHu from Awesome! I bought this to use for windy and snowy weather while ice fishing while in and out of my ice shelter. I needed something light weight but warm. This thing kept me warm (with a proper base layer) despite low temperatures and high winds. I didn't even need my larger coat. The quality seems top notch. It ran a bit small for my chest and shoulder but I have a wider frame than the average person.

Rated 4 out of 5 by SteveJ02 from Great, functional jacket! This jacket has been great! It's light, and does well in the wind and moderately cold temperatures. My one issue with the jacket is that it can be a pain to slide on and off. I have a Columbia fleece and I was hoping by upgrading to this jacket that it would have an inner liner that would make it a little easier to slide your arms into without bunching up your sleeves, especially since it is fitted. Not the case though. If Columbia could make that an upgrade on next year's version of this jacket, I think it would go a long way with customers. For reference, I'm 5' 11" 175 and the medium fits great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by TonyL from Good mid-layer Been using this as a mid-layer during these cold New England temps and snow storms. Does a good job underneath a hooded Columbia Omni Heat shell. Hood is a bit floppy and wish it had adjustment or was a bit smaller as it falls in front of my vision and is the reason for the 4 instead of 5 stars. However, this combination along with gloves and flannel lined pants has kept me warm and dry in single-digit, high 20-30 mph wind and snow conditions, highly active or not.

Rated 5 out of 5 by coolek from ascender soft shell I like the fit and quality of the piece. the only reason I didn't give an excellent on the function is due to lack of a drawstring in the hood. the velcro adjustment is ok but the hood blows off when the wind catches it. Being able to snug the hood would fix that problem. otherwise it is a most excellent product and I will continue to use it. I spend over 50 days a year outside skiing backpacking or rafting and have been very pleased with the ascender softshell so far.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Bob66 from Total dissappointment Received product by UPS, opened and tried on. I could barely get my arms in sleeve hole opening and once on, arms way to tight. Would be hard to wear anything else under it. Returned immediatly for credit.
