Men’s Ascender™ Softshell Glove is rated out of 5 by 24.
Rated 3 out of 5 by TmacInNoVa from Less than expected I got these with hopes to replace a pair of leather gloves that have served me well for years. If you are looking for any concept a of lining, STOP. These gloves are nothing but a shell that I just can't see providing any warmth. The constant complaint about how tight the elastic is around the wrist is as true as true can get. Its a fight to get my hand into these things. If they had a liner, even "thinsulate" it would have made them worth while. Sending them back just wasn't worth the hassle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jes77 from GREAT Gloves!!! I bought these for my daughter for snowboarding (I bought the women's pair for my other daughter who skis)... she HATES wearing her big gloves because she has to mess with her bindings all the time and has to take her gloves off to do that... also when there are warmer days, her other gloves are too hot, in New England, it's not unheard of to be snowboarding in just a hoodie...so these lighter, softshell gloves still protect her hands from the snow and cold, and allow her to work her bindings without taking them off! She was very happy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Sfad from Mild weather gloves Gloves are a little snug at the wrist when putting them on. Good functional gloves, but not for real cold weather.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Pootie from Not useful for devices The general bulkiness of the gloves doesn't suit for being able to use any touch screen if that is important. The fit is a little tight fitting into the glove however the fingers don't fit very snug, a lot of air around my hand and feels a little cold for days with windchill. On the positive side, these generally are good gloves and feel well-made, good for average winter days for which they should last for a long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Joedk20 from Perfect Glove I was skeptical at first when they arrived. After I went to work the next day, I realized they were perfect. I wanted a glove that would keep the cool air off my hands but also allow the versatility to not only carry large items without them slipping out of my hands but to store them in my pocket easily. These gloves performed all the areas that I needed. Highly recommend for those who are in and out of an office all day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by KLM710 from Warmth without being bulky These gloves fit well. With the elastic wrist band to keep the cold out and warmth in, they are great for everyday use during the winter. I don't like bulky gloves that limit your ability to use your hands with your gloves on. So these are ideal. Especially with the touch screen technology.

Rated 5 out of 5 by kcbritt10 from Awesome product! These are great gloves and work well with touch screen phones! Definitely a great purchase to have on hand for the winter months! I really like that you can hook them together too which makes them harder to misplace! I bought the men's size instead of women's because I have really long hands/fingers, but they still seemed to run a bit big.

Rated 3 out of 5 by BD14 from too small This glove runs small, unfortunately the way it's packaged you cannot try on the glove when you receive it without cutting off the tags, at which point based on the return policy you can't return it so we're stuck with really snug gloves. Order at least a size bigger than you usually wear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MMW35 from Very Nice Functional Light Gloves I rate these gloves as "Runs A Little Small" only because the wrist area is a little snug when getting them on. I have large hands - that said once the gloves are on they a nice, comfortable and snug fit which contribute to dexterity. These gloves are not for winter sports, snow or cold weather - they are great for temps 35 deg F >, windy conditions and rain like what you get in the Pacific NW through much of the winter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by John82 from Great style, good quality, but odd proportions I love Columbia's softshell line of products, and have been enjoying my Ascender II jacket for a few years now. These gloves sport the same great style, and are comfortable to wear . . . but as other reviews have noted (here and on Amazon) the opening for the hand is more restrictive than it should be for each size. I purchased size large specifically for this reason, and the gloves go on/off comfortably for me . . . but I would have normally purchased a size medium, and I imagine someone with typically "large" size hands having difficulty with these. In addition, the material in the palm of the hand seems to bunch easily, and the fingers don't seem to be consistent (some are just the right size, others too long). I do really like the gloves, and my overall feeling about them is still positive . . . but with a bit of tweaking on the proportions, these could really be a 5-star ultimate glove!

Rated 2 out of 5 by JosephV from Unfortunately can not recommend I own many Columbia product and I love most of them. Unfortunately, this NOT one of those products. Size - Fairly true to size. The elastic around the cuff is a little smaller but not drastically small. Cons - Not warm at all. Hands were cold almost immediately while walking dog in 28 degree weather. Doesn't seem to keep wind out - Palm material is not grippy at all. It actually seems to be slippery. I dropped my phone a few times, and slips on steering wheel way too easily. - Inside of glove is rough. Can feel the seems easily. Seems like this is more of a shell for an actually soft pair of gloves. - I can't seem to get the touchscreen fingertips to work. Can't slid phone open. Pros - Material is same, very good Columbia standards, and stitching is tight so seems to protect against wet weather. Price is decent on these but would recommend buying another style. These just don't cut it in my opinion.

Rated 2 out of 5 by DickStrong from I ordered all three sizes and none of them fit right! I am mind boggled by the sizing of Columbia products. Some things fit perfect, some you have to get a size smaller, some a size bigger. I ordered all three sizes of this and other gloves to match my Men’s Ascender™ Hooded Softshell Jacket and my MEN’S WHIRLIBIRD™ INTERCHANGE JACKET. Well none of them fit good. All the gloves are being returned except for the running gloves. Here is the problem with the sizing of Columbia gloves. The ONLY difference in the sizing is how wide the glove is at the wrist. The length of the fingers are ALL the SAME = WAY TOO SHORT! I can't bend my fingers properly in ANY of them! If I can't grab something or close my hand in a glove I might as well put a cast on my hand. I want to be warm BUT I want to be able to FUNCTION. So please redesign your gloves so that the length of the fingers changes with the glove size.
