Perfect for sub zero winters
Perfect boots for the cold winters, superb warmth and comfort. The only mistake was going a size up, perhaps half size up would be sufficient to wear with thick socks.

Warm, but very uncomfortable
I've had Columbia Bugaboots for the past 4 Midwest Winters and have loved them! I upgraded to the Bugaboots with Omni-heat last season and was disappointed. Not in the quality department, but in the comfort department. The boots are much bulkier and don't flex much, even after an entire season of use (snow from November to March is quite normal here on the east side of Lake Michigan). They are extremely warm, my feet never got cold. And they never leaked. But, they did rub the backs of my legs raw, even with thick, tall socks on AND my jeans tucked into my boots. I couldn't return them, so I'm stuck with an expensive pair of boots I'll never wear.

Hello 1910
This boot seems to be very well made. High quality and sturdy. Sizing seems to run slightly large. I normally wear a size 8, and I found the 8 to be a little roomy. With a heavy sock I think the fit would be fine. Unfortunately I returned the boots due to how bulky and heavy they are. Put these on and walk up the stairs in your home and you will notice the weight. Now imagine adding the weight of snow and possibly snow shoes. They are also really bulky. I'm not sure why they need to be so big and bulky. I felt like I was joining the Shackleton expedition, hello 1910. These are like the snow boots your dad had when you were a kid (circa 1983). I returned these and bought a pair of boots from a competitor for less money with the same features, and about 30% less bulk. If you want to kick in locked doors, get crossfit glutes, or don't plan on actually walking around much, I'm sure these would be great boot.

Winter boots
Great boots for rough conditions. Keeps the cold and snow on the outside of the boots for at least ten hours, (tested personally). The grip on ice is pretty solid. Slightly heavy to walk in for miles, but not too bad. Overall would buy again.

I work on a golf course and bought them for work as a medium duty boot to wear every day. So far I am very happy. They took a little time to break in but now are very comfortable.

Never disappointed with Columbia quality
This is the first pair of winter boots I've had to purchase in 10 years. My original pair were Columbia Bugaboo's that literally came apart at the seems. Not a bad investment if you ask me. So I never thought twice about the price because I'm banking on the fact that this pair will last another 10 years in Minnesota winters. I have started to wear them occasionally just to break them in. As you can imagine they are a bit stiff out of the box, but that is to be expected. I also like the Michelin grip. They are very rugged looking which I like. Great purchase. Don't hesitate.

Not Lasted On Older Bugaboot Models
I have worn a pair of Bugaboots for at least the last 6 or 7 years. They have held up well, but were showing their age. Thought it was time for an upgrade. I ordered the exact same size as my original pair . . . big mistake. These babies are lasted on an extremely narrow foot. I'm not even sure a wide in the same size would fit. So if you own an old pair, and seeking to replace them, buy wide and possibly size up. These are being returned and I'll try to nurse another season out of my old pair. I recommend if you have a very skinny foot or size up . . . I don't recommend purchasing without fitting them in an REI store first.

Simply a great product
I just bought three pairs of this series for my whole family. Though it's not quite winter yet and we haven't get a chance to really wear them, we have no doubt that this is great product - comfortable, warm, well-constructed, and beautiful!
Can't wait to try them out in the snow.

Using for Snow Shoeing
Extremely comfortable and durable shoes. The tread pattern has amazing traction on varying winter terrain. The insulation does not seem to be excessive for warming as I was able to snowshoe without overheating. Waterproofing is solid and the shoes fit into bindings even with my larger size.

Poor Construction
Purchased the boots at Christmas 2018, boots break in was easy and comfortable. In early March '19, about two weeks after return period expires, the boots developed a crack/hole along the outer shell on the instep/ball of the left boot. They claim to be waterproof but the poor construction of the outer sole (cracked and feel apart creating a 1 inch hole) doesn't hold up to normal wear in rainy, cold weather during winter months in Georgia. I'm usually a fan of Columbia products, but not a fan of cold wet feet or the construction of these boots.

not as good as ice and leaks like a sieve
Sending back to try another pair. But for people buying to walk on ice. Save your money and buy studded shoes or buy a pair of the slip on studs. Still slipped with these. They are very comfortable and a great hiking boot until I went into water. This pair is not waterproof as advertised. My feet were soaked crossing a little creek that wasn't more than ankle deep. Hopefully next pair will be better....

Great Support
I have poly-neuropathy, left foot has no arch so I need to wear an Arizona Boot. After this purchase, I realized the Boot wouldn't fit inside, so I added a orthotic insert in the Bugaboot, it gave me Superb ankle support not needing my Arizona Boot. I was so impressed with the Bugaboot, I bought a 2nd pair within a month of this purchase. Glad I found these, love the Michelin Tire sole and heal combo as well.

Recommended - with Reservations
Very warm and comfortable boots BUT CHOOSE YOUR SIZE WISELY. They are winter boots and about as bulky as you'd expect normal winter boots to be. They kept my feet warm and dry only wearing dress socks, during hours of bitter cold (-20s) outdoor use. Didn't fully test the waterproof claim (didn't go sloshing around in streams or anything), but my feet never got wet - other than a bit of sweat - working in snow, ice, sleet, mush, etc. The high-grip Michelin sole is a fantastic addition to this classic boot and they are super grippy, even on wet ice. WARNING: DO NOT follow the size chart for these boots. I followed the instructions meticulously - measured the length of my foot, ordered the corresponding size, and they were way too small - pinched badly on the toes and overall way too tight - wearing just dress socks. Order a half size to a full size larger than the size chart recommends, or better yet find a store that sells them and try some on first then come back to Columbia.com and buy the right size - just don't follow Columbia's size guide - it needs a lot of adjusting. Overall, after using these boots for a couple of months through the worst winter we've seen in 40 years, I'd highly recommend them.

Replaced a pair of Old Friends - Excellent choice!
I received a new pair of Bugaboot Plus IV Omni-Heat size 14 3 weeks ago, and they are excellent winter boots. Read below to see what they replaced and how sad I was to see the old boots go. That said, I like them almost as well as the old Icefields. They fit well, they are very warm and they fit my snowshoe bindings well. The Michelin soles perform as advertised, especially in cold weather (-20C and below). I do have one small gripe: the lacing system is not as speedy or efficient as the "speed lacing" in the Icefields. It takes a little more finesse to get them just right on the foot, which is key for snowshoeing. Other than that, I am totally happy with my purchase. In fact, I ordered a pair of the higher XTM versions the next week. Where I live, you can never have too many pairs of winter boots!
Here's "the rest of the story" for you: you see, my old faithful Titanium Icefield boots had to be replaced. I bought them in Ottawa in 2004 and they were the BEST winter boots I have owned in 62 years. I served 34 years in the Canadian Army (Airborne) so I was very specific about "good kit" and these boots were a damned good piece of kit. I wore them all over North America and never ever were my feet cold. I wore them up Pike's Peak, Mount Washington and several others. They fit my snowshoe harnesses perfectly, flexed when my feet did, and were just generally superb. The left boot failed in late January, on another snowshoe trip, and I have to tell you that I never even noticed until my wife pointed it out. The upper separated completely from the rubber body of the boot, exposing the insulation. but my feet never even got a shred of cold while on the trail. When I got home and examined the damage, I could see that it was terminal. New boots required and ordered. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

These were the best boots I ever owned
These boots did not last one winter in Northern Maine!
Comfortable, warm, awesome traction, light weight - all true.
The simple fact the lining started to fall apart and shell began cracking 3 months in makes them completely useless.
This was my first time/last time with Columbia Winter boots. Back to Keens.

Has limitations
These boots will not keep your feet dry if water or snow gets to the bottom of the tounge of the boot. Otherwise their great and have excellent traction in winter conditions. I would not recommend if your walking in accumulations if softer snow. Will be returning due to this reason.

Cold toes
I recently bought these to replace a pair of North face boots that managed to spring a leak somewhere. These boots are super warm in every area but the toes. We were out snowmobiling for 3 hours in 20 degree weather in Maine and by the end if the trip my toes weren't completely frozen but I could definitely feel it, and toe warmers would've helped. I was wearing a pair of heavy socks at the time. This is my only reasoning for 4 stars, not 5. I wore these in the last ice storm that we had and I didn't slip once, the tire tread on the bottom really helps. Recommended for snow/ice/rain, just no long term use in colder weather without some sort of toe warmers. Boots are true to size, they are the same size as my Rocky work boots.

Can't wait to take it to the mountains
As soon as I received them I put them on and used them around the house. As I walked around I could confiim that they are indeed comfortable and I could feel my feet nicely snug and warm inside. I intend to use these when I take my kids to the snow up in the mountains. It'll give me a good chance to test out the "Michelin" tread and to see if my feet really stay warm. I normally wear a size 10-101/2 but based on other reviews I ordered a size 11 and glad that I did. I likewise agree that if you decide to get these boots, go for 1/2 size larger.

I have worn these boots in -5° f up to about 60° f. I was working in both situations, and my feet were comfortable in the whole range of weather. I was also happily surprised with how well they did gripping to ice and snow. I was walking around while everyone else was looked like they were on ice skates.

Great Boot, but runs small/narrow
Overall a fantastic boot, but runs narrow. Order 1/2 larger than you normally would. If you plan on big socks, maybe a full size larger.
As you walk and rotate the foot froward, the boot will fold on the toe, directly over the little toe and pinch it thus the 3 star rating for comfort.

I wear a size 15 and am a little slow to spend money on boots I can't try on. I have to say that these boots have exceeded my expectations in warmth, comfort and durability! I wear a size 15 boot, ordered the 15 and started wearing them immediately in our most recent cold blast with temps reaching -6 to -8 without wind chill factor. My toes were warm, my feet were warm and the soles provided me excellent traction while hiking riverfront trails with ice layers under powder snow!

Not Waterproof
The Michelin soles seem great, and I think they look good. But some of the insulation was showing in the boot tongues where it should have been stitched over. Also, I saw some reviews say these weren't waterproof, so I tested mine right away. Only a couple minutes in 6 inches of water in the kitchen sink. Leaked in the same place that other reviews had mentioned, right where the tongue meets the rubber sole. Waterproofness is extremely important in a winter boot, moreso than regular hiking boots.
I returned and got the more basic Bugaboot III, which passed my sink test.

Great looking Boot, runs small
Great looking and extremely well made boot. Awesome rubber sole. Runs small... if you wear a size 10.5 shoe order 11.5 boot. The toe box is what runs small and is made of rubber so will not grow or give with repeated wear. Getting ready to wear the 2nd pair 11.5 in Tahoe, will write another review after return from trip and report on warmth factor.
