Rated 5 out of 5 by OutdoorManNYS from Lots of compliments This is a great coat for cold New York State winters. It's fairly lightweight and keeps me warm. I've received many compliments on it when I wear it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by HoundHoofer from Great Jacket for Moderate Cold I bought this jacket and I was really disappointed to send it back. I loved the color and the size but it just wasn't as warm as I was hoping it would be. I was going to use this for snowblowing the driveway and walking my dogs and it was almost perfect. The color was nice and bright so cars would easily see us and I would have kept it but it wasn't really any warmer than a light winter Columbia Jacket I already own. I ended up getting one of the Turbo Down jackets instead. I will be looking to get a similar Columbia jacket with more insulating value than this one. It's a great jacket and I wish I could have kept it but it just wasn't what I was hoping for. This would make a great jacket for temps above 15 degrees. Maybe next year Columbia will introduce a warmer version in the bright red color!

Rated 5 out of 5 by FLewes16 from Great jacket Wore this jacket last season to ski east coast and out west. It was worn in just about every condition and performed well. Kept me warm and dry. I was concerned that it would fit too tightly, but it was roomy enough for base and mid layers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bmc3000 from Great Fit and Warmth This jacket fits me very well! For years, I've worn a jacket I got as a hand-me-down from my older brother. It was always too big (which was a style in the 1990's I suppose#. Being over 30 and living in New England, it was certainly time for an upgrade to something that fits. I have an 'active' body style #runner# and this fits me well and keeps me warm. While this jacket doesn't have lots of insulation #not like a 2-1#, I was able to layer it well with a down vest, fleece and tights. I was up in Vermont in -10F #day# while skiing #-24F at night# and had no issue #except my feet#. I was debating between a Medium or a Small--the Medium worked out well as it allowed me to layer and it didn't seem like I was swimming in the jacket. I'm about 5'9". The features and pockets were very helpful for skiing and hiking--definitely glad I went with this. I also tried the Mountainside Turbulence Interchange Jacket, thinking it would be warmer. While I liked that jacket as well, I really like the fit, features #omniheat rocks# and style of this one #I went with red to go bold#. The interchange jacket has more layers, but this one met my functional requirements #I'm a nerd at heart#. The only thing I wish I had was an Omni heat fleece to pair with this. I have other older Columbia fleeces, but I've grown obsessed with the Omni heat feature. Oh, and the old 'hand-me-down' jacket that didn't fit? That was a Columbia and 15 years later, the thing is still in good shape #after countless wilderness scouting trips#. Honestly, that's why I went with Columbia again--it lasts. I don't really write reviews, but wanted to give back. I really rely on them myself and hope this helps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DanK from Carvin is top quality Light, warm, breathable, stylish - Carvin' is a great ski coat. Felt great at 0 degrees, felt great at 50 degrees with vents. Fits and feels just as good as other brands that cost twice as much. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MMW35 from Wonderfull ALL Purpose Jacket I purchased several Columbia jackets at the beginning of this season and have waited to provide a review until after a full season's use. I was somewhat skeptical about the added warmth of this jacket's reflective inner lining but it "rocks." This jacket has made a believer out of me as has every Columbia product I own has. I often have discussions with my wife about getting what you pay for - with this jacket it is great to be happy and right!!! Keeps you warm and dry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Rob4732 from Excellent jacket I actually don't ski anymore, however I am frequently out with my dog in the winter(rainy months in Portland, OR). This jacket works very well for me. Pros: Completely waterproof Has a hood Inner wrist cuffs(to keep air from entering the sleeves) Lots of pockets Very comfortable Cons: Difficult to engage the zipper

Rated 5 out of 5 by Markie55 from Well made Well made and designed functional jacket. Warmer than I expected considering its light weight. Very waterproof. Nice fit, looks sharp. The zipper takes some getting used to and patience lining it up. I called about the zipper and was assured that the garment has a lifetime warranty and would be taken care of if it ever fails. Good enough for me. Happy trails.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mistercarver from Carvin is stylin Large fits very well for 6'2", 210 lb man. Love the comfort fit cuffs to keep snow and drafts out. Well made, great technology, warm and dry while skiing. I did buy a Columbia fleece for under it during a ski trip to Canada.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ReducedToTeeth from Good Jacket. this is a good jacket, I wouldn't say it's excellent, but it's a good one. I usually wear an xxl, I'm 5'10 and 265lbs. the review before me said it was slightly large, so I took a gamble and got an xl. it fits like a gem. it's not too big and it's not too tight. there are two issues I have with this jacket. the first, it is not as warm as I thought it was going to be. the last week we've had the tempatures go from the single digits to the teens and I've had to wear a hoodie under it to have that extra layer of warmth. it does block the wind and it is waterproof like a bad mamma jamma. it just doesn't hold the heat like the down jacket I bought a few years ago. the other gripe I have with this is the zipper. it is a pain in the mangos to zip. now I'm 29, and I've had lots of practice with zippers and I have never came across one that was as stubborn as this one. the look and style of this jacket is amazing. I just wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for extreme warmth in extreme cold. overall, if you don't mind wearing a hoodie under it, do it to it.
