Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleasantly Surprised In the past I purchased the Alpine Escape Down Jacket for the cold Chicago winters; that jacket is more like a parka and it really holds up in the 0 and below 0 degree weather; I was looking for a lighter jacket to use when the weather is not as harsh; I purchased this jacket and I am impressed. This jacket is lightweight, warm, and it looks pretty good. I've worn in temps 30F degrees and above (with high cold winds and snow coming down), by itself, and it really holds up; it is insulated to keep cold air out and it is warm inside. It is the best commuter jacket especially due to being waterproof, on days when rain is expected I leave my umbrella at home when I wear this jacket, the rain runs right off. Its exceeded my expectations on what I was looking for in a jacket; I do go back to the parka for temps in the 20'sF and below. I've had no problems with the zippers, only once in a long while a feather will come out from the side seams. So far, I am happy with this purchase and I would recommend.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice jacket but needs work I had high hopes for this piece but a few points fixed would make it better. The body and sleeves use Omni Heat material which is fine since its designed to reflect and insulate. However, the pockets are lined with it too, which in colder weather, is like sticking your hand in a pocket of tin foil. A fleece backed pocket would've been much better. The pockets themselves are large and so air just blows in and cools the foil. I find my hands freezing all the time with this jacket and Omni heat material just makes it worse. What an odd oversight, how did someone not notice this. Another issue is the sleeves ride high into the armpit. For athletic purposes and movement, it's definitely not ideal.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for Winter This jacket is advertised as being for "Winter and Trail". It is definitely not for winter. Even coupled with a fleece jacket inside, this did not help in 30F - 40F weather. I would definitely not recommend this product. No wonder its discounted so heavily. Lesson learnt!.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great deal I bought this coat for winter and the omni heat is awesome. I didn't read the reviews until after I bought it and was a little concerned but it keeps me warm in 32 degree temps so far. Didn't have any zipper issues. Plus it's waterproof!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great commuter jacket and fit. Great jacket for a commuter. Walking to car, to the market, jumping on the train, etc. Nice wind protection and the down adds just enough warmth. I've had it out in 50 mph wind gusts and -5 degrees. Held up surprisingly well. I wouldn't want to stay out much longer in that weather, though. My only con is the cuff on the sleeves. My gloves don't stay tucked in, but that could be because of the length and cheapness of my gloves.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No Jacket comes to use if the Zipper does not work properly This was my first winter jacket I have ever bought till date. I ordered it on Nov 30 and received it today that is Dec 7 2016. I tried it on as soon as I received it to find out that the zipper does not work properly. I tried zipping up and felt hard to zip, every time i tried to zip it up, the retainer box would not hold the insertion pin of the zipper, the insertion pin would come off from the retainer box when I moved the slider head up. To have the insertion pin in the retainer box and zip up, ufffff its a hard task to accomplish. Other than this the jacket looks good, I am 6 feet 1 inch and broad, large fit me well and I had room inside, like I did not feel stuffed in or suffocated or neither too big, so it fits perfect, jacket is light weight. I cannot comment on how warm is it, for that I need to wear the jacket, zip it up and go out to test. Uffff the thought of zipping it up properly is tiring. My first experience with Columbia is bad, would never shop again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not warm enough The jacket mentions it is for "Winter" and "Trail", yet, after wearing it for 2-3 days, I sometimes feel cold in it at 30F even after wearing a sweater. It frustrates me that I will have to spend another hundred dollars for getting a better jacket. This one should be labelled as a FALL jacket instead. Is that why Columbia never mentions the temperature a jacket is supposed to be good for?
