Men's Freeze Degree™ 1/2 Zip is rated out of 5 by 27.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Johnn from Good in the cold too In Washington State it's cold and wet outside but warm and humid inside. I wear these Freeze shirts under a bulky sweater. Not only do they provide a smooth layer under scratchy wool, they cool me if I start to get too hot indoors. Weird, yes, but it works. The collar doesn't stand up as pictured unless it is zipped all the way up, but it is a versatile shirt all year around.

Rated 4 out of 5 by strokesurvivor from 1/2 zip I bought the "better" Freeze Degree 1/2 zip after purchasing several Solar Polar shirts very much like it! First, it's well made and I found all the claims valid. I'm a kiteflier and out in the sun for hours at a time. The Freeze Degree tech and the UV protection (50) gave great comfort and protection, even while wearing long sleeves in a pretty warm climate. My only issue with the shirt is that I wear a hydration pack on the beach for liquids on board. This has prematurely worn the sewing across the lower seam on the back. Made the thread used to fray. The Solar Polar shirts don't have this issue, even with the panel sewn in the back! A bit disappointed that a more expensive item will probably wear out soon than the other "cheaper" shirts. Other than that one issue, everything seems to be OK. PS: I didn't find this to run small, get the size you normally would for best fit!

Rated 5 out of 5 by byrappa from Amazing fitting I bought it for hiking, biking, running and rock climbing. I love it. I am 6.3ft with long shoulders. It fits perfectly well. One of the best fitting I found so far. Dries quick and easy to wash in the wilderness. Absorbs sweat deeply and kept me warm. I wear this in town too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by AdamB from Beat the Heat I first started using these shirts to train in Arizona for Search and Rescue. Ever since then, even after moving to the Bay Area, I'll hardly hike in anything else. Protects from the sun better than sunscreen and without chemicals. Keeps your evaporation down, yet maximizes the sweat you do excrete to cool you. Pair it with a gaiter made from the same fabric and you have a skin-saving kit that will do you more good than any bottle of sunscreen. The only thing I wish it had were thumb-holes like the women's version.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MaxCat from AWESOME I have two of these (and just ordered two more). I've worn them a bunch but recently put them to the test in all day climbing adventures at Smith Rock, Oregon in 90 degree heat and blue sky/hot sun. I felt great all day, stayed very cool (even in long sleeves) and was the only member of my group to not get sun burned. Absolutely one of my favorite pieces of gear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by RobM from Good Quality This shirt fits small, get a size larger, but it is very comfortable. I bought this during winter in Michigan and have worn it as a base layer so far. I can't wait to test this in the summer as they tend to be humid here

Rated 5 out of 5 by Winterbabie79 from Husband Loves It I purchased this for my husband. We live in MN and with the cold, this is exactly what he was looking for. We ski a lot and he always complained about the cold; let's just say - he has stopped complaining about being cold while skiing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Keggie26 from Limited use I haven't had the opportunity to give this shirt a true test since I live in Utah and temperatures haven't gotten warm enough for the Omni freeze fabric to prove itself. However, I like the material and design, looking forward to warmer temps for the real test.

Rated 4 out of 5 by RiverGoddess from Great layer for dry suit or the slopes I worked as a river guide this summer in ID, WA, and MT. I was hoping for the cooling effect and for sun protection on hot days. The cooling effect worked, but the shirt really stuck to my arms when wet, which was a little annoying. For pure sun protection on the river that dries fast, I would recommend the Silver Ridge shirt. However, on hotter days in the spring when long johns were too hot, but a dry suit was needed, this shirt was fantastic as a wicking and cooling layer. I highly recommend it for that purpose; it would work on the slopes, too. Fabric is very soft, so I would be cautious when hiking. The foliage color is true to the picture. Runs a bit large.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Oregonfun from Great sun shirt I just returned from a week-long backpacking trip. I was not sure if the Freeze Degree would keep me out of the hot sun and not be too thick to boil my blood while hiking and climbing for up to 20 hours a day. The shirt worked well. I bought a size up as I wanted to have it a little baggy to get a greater cooling effect. Which was a good choice for me.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Wonderdog from Omni-Freeze and Omni-Wick, Get It? It's a Joke! The hook for buying this was that it would be better than a plain, wicking polyester bike shirt. Alas, not at all! It's no better than my current bike shirts--maybe a little worse. There are supposed to be special features--polymers and knitting--that result in better wicking and what I surmise to be ionic cooling (like what ice and salt do to allow you to churn ice cream even though neither the melting ice nor the salt is much below the freezing point of water. This is my second shirt. The first one arrived with black soot that blew into one corner of the polybag enclosing the shirt. I saw it immediately, but the person who picked and packed the shirt hadn't noticed it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by yakforta from I love my men's freeze degree shirt This shirt is the most comfortable and cool shirt I have ever worn fishing. I have put some of my other to the side and wear it as much as possible. It just feel great. The cooling effect keeps me in the zone and I don't have to worry about feeling to hot. It also dry's pretty quick so I don't have to spend the rest of the day in a wet shirt if I get wet. I have ordered more of these shirts in different colors so I can be comfortable on each and everyone of my kayak fishing charters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by cpeff from great shirt I already had 2 of these shirts in the women's size XL, but liked the bright yellow color of the mens. ordered a size M and it fits fine. I am 5'4 and 145 lbs. wanted bright for cycling. Use these shirts in 80-90 degrees for cycling, hiking and kayaking and love them!

Rated 3 out of 5 by landscaper75 from Nice shirt, doesn't keep you cool I really do like the shirt (I bought two of them). They are great, light weight shirts, but...I could not notice the "omni-freeze" technology doing anything whatsoever. I am a landscaper and will spend money on anything that I think will keep me cool. These are nice shirts, just keep your expectations very low when it comes to the sweat-activated cooling.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Anonymous from Poor Workmanship I purchased this shirt under a month ago and having used it for two 12-15 miles runs thus far, I am surprised that the stitches are "bunching" up in a couple of areas. The technology seems to do what it claims but I am disappointed at the lack of workmanship in the product. For such a pricey product, I was expecting the quality to be on par.

Rated 5 out of 5 by erock239 from Great all around shirt Fit runs a little small but not anything to make you go up a size. Excellent wicking capability, keeps the uv at bay as well. Love it for running, fishing, to think of it... this is great for everything!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Michelle81 from Great for summer sports! I am a 6'1" female about 155 lbs and ordered the small to wear while I ride horses. I was worried about sleeve length in the women's version. The small men's fits perfect. Looks great. Wicks away sweat and stays cool. So far it works great at 90 degrees and is cooler than summer "riding" shirts. I think it will be perfect when it gets to be 100 degrees. No sun burn either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nite from Good for track meets! My husband is a track and field athlete. He saw this shirt in BackPack magazine a couple of month ago and he's also looking for cool new gear/attire. He happen to mention it to me as his birthday was approaching. I purchased the shirt and it came just in time for this big yearly decathlon. After day one of his decathlon he couldn't stop talking about how much it loved the shirt. Originally, I thought this shirt was a bit pricey, but it was totally worth it hearing how much my husband loves it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jfreakinreezy from Fan-freaking-tastic! I own several Columbia products and have experienced the majority of their different technologies, but I have to say Omni Freeze Zero and Omni Wick Evap make easily the best combo they've put out. With the super accelerated wicking, it's not just that my sweat evaporates quickly, it's that I just don't feel sweaty at all it's gone so fast. That, and sweating in this thing is a blast--I live in Texas, and the long-sleeve black zip may get me questioning looks, but it's more than delivered the cooling to make it worth it! It DOES run small, but I think rightly so. I'm 5'11, 130, and most of Columbia smalls are squarish and big on me, but this thing is perfect--body conturing, but not tight, and the sleeves are long enough as awell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BlueIris from Great shirt It's runs really small order a size lager. I have been buying Columbia for years. In the last year or so their clothes have been running on the small size. I live in Phoenix and just got the shirt. I have put it on in 75 degree temps and the omni freeze works. Can't wait for 115 degree days.
