Rated 4 out of 5 by from First down jacket This jacket is fairly lightweight, comfortable, and has not had any tears yet. I am usually hard on my clothes but this has held up quite well. Wearing this with a baselayer and sweatshirt kept me quite warm throughout this last IL winter without feeling bulky. 4 stars on the quality because of small amounts of down leakage. I am 5'10", 185 pounds, and the medium fits well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not as warm as advertised I bought this jacket for use in our Minnesota winters. Though I bought it late in the season, I was still chilled wearing it. Even with two layers under it. And it wasn't even that cold outside, it was 35 above zero. I would have been warmer wearing my old GAP "down" jacket. Unfortunately, I'm unable to return it since I have worn it and removed the tags. I am disappointed with this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lightweight jacket My husband and I purchased these 650's when they went on sale. They are nice and light. Get a warmer fill version if you want a lot of warmth. They are just large enough for a layer or two underneath if its cold. The only thing we noticed is that the men's version is a lot "puffier" than the women's version- maybe so you can look like you have a lot of muscles? Also, it would be nice to have an inside pocket or two- especially since cell phones seem to be getting bigger and don't always fit comfortably in your pants pockets.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice an warm an fits nice So far it hasn't been "really" cold out but the jacket does what i wanted it to do an thats keep the wind out, I wanted something light so when it got real cold out i could use this jacket under my other Columbia shell jacket without being to bulky an plus it's on sale, I should have just paid a few dollars more an went with the 850 down, I like Columbia products an plan on buying more.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Jacket Warm, comfortable jacket. Great for chicago's inconsistent weather. Wish it was Collapsable like other jackets that include a pouch in pocket. Also I would have like a hidden zipper style detachable hood option.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warmest Jacket Ever This jacket is very warm even in the zero degree cold we are experiencing in NYC. The only negative is I wish it had an inside pocket for my wallet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Down Coat! I only wear Down Coats in the winter because to me they are the best coat to protect you from the cold. Living in Michigan the winters are cold and long. This is a very good coat and thinner than most of my others coats. Lightweight and feel good. Runs close to size but I chose a little small because it was not right on the money. I love the look and feel of this coat very comfortable. I would buy again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly What I Needed I have the hooded version of this jacket. It performs incredibly well in windy, cold conditions. I've never been chilly in it. And it seems to breathe very well, something I didn't expect. Light and well-fitting, this is probably the best cold-weather gear I've had.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Toasty Performed beautifully under snowy conditions. I felt very toasty even in -8 degrees.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Jacket I was looking for a warm and lightweight jacket and the 650 works great. I was concerned with it handling wind and it had not problem with mild cold (in the teens) wind with a couple of thin warm layers worn under. I think it can handle medium wind. I am not sure how it would handle high Chicago-like wind though. I wear this mostly in urban environments. The back length is long at 29" which I wanted to cover up my backside, but one issue I have is when I sit down especially in the car I need to unzipper fully for comfort. The jacket is very lightweight. As mentioned in reviews that I read before buying, it would have been great if there was an internal pocket. I am on the upper end of the small chart and the jacket fits perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it Great product, really love it
Date published: 2015-02-12
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Runs small I purchased this jacket along with several others because Columbia is one of the few companies that sell winter coats in a size 38 sleeve. I bought several options online to try each on. This one runs significantly smaller than the Fast Trek Fleece and is probably a 36/37 sleeve length. Definitely be careful about Columbia's return policy as it is a moving target. The invoices do not specify the return date and it changes online from 30 to 60 from the date of purchase, not the date of receipt by the customer. Buyer beware.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Winter Jacket I've ever owned Perfect winter jacket. Only complaint is that jacket is now $40 less online than I spent two weeks ago.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Too Fragile Got the jacket for Christmas. Nice and warm. I wore it out around town a couple of times and it worked perfect. However the fourth or fifth time i wore it, I discovered a large 3 inch tear on the back next to my right shoulder. If I had worn the jacket skiing, I might be able to understand, but the fact that it wasn't able to to withstand a trip to the grocery store, gas station, and my other stops around town just blows my mind. Never had such a fragile coat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from eaceac I bought this for a gift for my son. He loves it. I tried it on and I could feel my own body heat returning to me to help keep me warm in the outdoor frigid temperatures. It's well worth the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Turbo down jacket I ordered the jacket for my husband and I made the right choice, he loves it. Is is warm, not heavy at all. I ordered a large thinking it could run small, although it is ok I could had ordered the medium size because it runs true to size. I would, definitively, recommend the jacket :)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed -No breast pocket -No drawstring on hood -Feathers are constantly coming out from the seams and fabric -Always seems to have a layer of dust (from the fill) on the outside of the jacket -Stays cool around the elbows -Fabric gets caught in pocket zippers -Color says black on the label but is actually a dark blue -Fit was a little bit smaller so needed to buy the one size up -I would return this jacket if I hadn't bought it early in the winter season which ended up exceeding the store's return policy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great jacket...errr...Coat. First...I love Columbia and their products. I was, however a little disappointed with the jacket/coat. I consider myself an ultralight hiker/camper (base gear weight < 12lbs) and was thrilled to find this "jacket" that was advertised as the lightest jacket Columbia makes. Admittedly, I was in a hurry when I ordered it and didn't do my due diligence in exploring the specs and at the time there were no available reviews. I was just looking for something lightweight and warm and this was, on the surface, offering both. When I received the "jacket", I was surprised to find it a bit heavier and larger than I had anticipated. I haven't found an official weight yet and haven't weighed it myself, but it was a bit more weighty than I imagined it would be. Don't get me wrong...it's light, just nowhere near what I was expecting from a jacket advertised as "the lightest we make". I was also expecting something that was easily packable, which this is not. It'll fold, but you're not getting this into a stuff sack. If you're looking for a jacket/coat that you can wear every day and will keep you warm... this is the coat for you. If you're looking for something to keep you warm on the trail that you can stuff in to your pack when you get warm and possibly in a stuff sack...You may wanna hold off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Look No Further This Turbodown jacket is the best jacket I have owned over the last 30 years. I normally have 4+ layers plus a jacket in 20 degree temps and last night 2 layers and I was warm. LOOK NO FURTHER this is the best value in the market today.
