Rated 4 out of 5 by Jonep from Almost Love. So I felt like I really had to write a review for these shoes since I really have put them to the test. I have worn these shoes for work about 4 days a week for the past 15 months, I have used them hiking 5 or 6 times, and I have used them in extreme weather (heavy downpours and wind.) The story basically goes that I have been happy with my purchase and impressed with the capabilities of the shoes. The grip was incredibly good in climbing situations where I could only step on vertical branches 2 inches in diameter. I was still able to lift and support my entire body without any slipping. I have used them on slippery rocks, floors covered in grease and the grip has impressed me. The shoe, even though low has proven itself waterproof as long as the water doesn't go too high on the tounge. Even standing in water 2-3 inches deep they have remained dry inside. And, they are really comfortable. Why the 4 stars? I was in love with these shoes, but then they broke my heart! The ends of the top bending part in the front (see photo) wore out and started to tear after 13 months of relatively strenuous wear. They are no longer waterproof at all because the small torn holes let water in so fast they soak like any ordinary sneaker. That said, it was a relationship worth living. Mainly because the price is low compared to the top quality shoes (which I also own, excuse me, hello), and although they did not last as long as I would have liked, they did perform while they lasted. I have just ordered the outdry extreme, which really says enough about my opinion. But, I'm counting on Columbia to have made something good better and at a great price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by catzengras from Husband loves them! My husband has high arches and these fit his feet perfectly on the first wear! He finds them really comfortable. I'm happy to have found shoes for him because he has trouble finding shoes that fit him well and are comfortable. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 2 out of 5 by elannasdad from Manufacturing defects I want to preface this by saying Columbia is doing the right thing to rectify a bad situation, but this is the second pair of shoes THIS YEAR that I've had to return for manufacturing defects. The first pair fit great and I wore them for about two months before the two part soles started to separate. Sent them back and was given a merchandise credit. I didn't want to drive over an hour to an outlet and the selection at the NYC store is poor so I took a chance and ordered a new pair online. I hadn't had them more than a week before the metal grommets (eyelets) began to pop out! I was a devout Merrill customer for years and was at an outlet earlier this year...needed a new pair of shoes and thought I'd give Columbia a try. Problem is that I can't seem to keep them on my feet for more than a few months before they start falling apart and now I'm stuck with this credit that I need to use. Guy's I LOVE your outerware...your shoes, not so much.
