Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Lightweight jacket for cold weather Bought this jacket for a trip to Minnesota and it was perfect. Lightweight, stylish and kept me warm in snowy weather with temp down to 15. Hoody is well worth it and kept my head warm. Great cold weather jacket for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This could be perfection For brisk to cold while on a hike or town, this could be the perfect jacket. I am 5'10" athletic build (175lbs.) and a small fits perfect. I can wear the jacket with anything from t-shirt to sweater under and the fit is great and keeps me warm! Very light water rolls off, if raining I would wear a shell. Columbia, please continue to make this garment!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best lightweight jacket This is the best light weight jacket ever. I worked outside my entire life climbing poles for a living so I’m used to wearing heavy thick denim jackets so when my wife convinced me to buy this light weight jacket I didn’t think it would hold up to the winter, I was wrong this jacket is the bomb. I should’ve bought one many years ago. I am in my mid-50s to say an old dog, but can still learn new tricks. This comes to mind… Thank you Columbia.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Feels not like 650 down The jacket is very thin, and even though is 650 down, you can't really feel the expected warmth. I tried the jacket a couple of times at -10C and -15C, but the warmth never built up. Really disappointing, because before buying this jacket I read reviews about how warm it was, but I didn't not experience warmth at all. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Columbia Down jackets never fails Purchased this for cold 30* Arizona weather. I must say, this has kept me warm paired with the Columbia omni-heat base layer and a basic T shirt. Size is true and quality/material feels great. A little skeptical as it feels thin at first, but does keep warm. Torso length is a bit longer than traditional jackets but this was great since we were hiking and climbing so our back was not exposed to the cold weather. Had purchased this in womens for my GF and she also loves this. Great buy!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great lightweight jacket Bought the jacket to use while outside hiking, cross country skiing, backpacking when the weather is a little too cold for a sweatshirt but not cold enough for a heavy jacket. This jacket works perfectly for just that. Would recommend it and I’d buy it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great down jacket Provides good warmth and pretty good water resistance when in rain showers. Nice big interior pockets

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good fall, early winter jacket Not as warm as I thought it would be (for being a 650 down jacket). but it is comfortable and would be very nice for fall, early winter, early spring jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great jacket! My husband and son wore these on our December trip to New York - they were warm the whole time - even on top of a big red bus! Fit was great for both - tall and slim as well as talk and muscular!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Christmas Gift I bought this jacket for my son after he showed me his old jacket that he had been wearing for years. The down was starting to pop out of his sleeves. It was another brand. I believe in Columbia Sportswear’s quality and value so I immediately went to your website. Luckily this jacket was on sale & I chose the moss green. He loves it and has been wearing it everyday now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light and warm We bought this for our son to replace a lower quality version we bought last year at a discount store (for not much less). The difference in quality is amazing. The shell is very durable, water repellent, and strong. His old jacket was constantly getting holes, but I don’t see that ever happening with this one. Very warm as well. Great product at a reasonable price

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light weight and warm This is probably the best Columbia jacket I own and I have purchased many. The down filling is enough to keep you warm during frigid temperatures. It is very light weight and comfortable to wear in any outdoor winter conditions. Even the hood is warm over your head. The phoenix blue is the way to go. I have received many positive compliments about it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Jacket I'm enjoying this jacket very much! It's light weight but very warm so far. I'm taking it to Oregon next week and we'll see how it does in the winter climate up there. So far so good though!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Internal Layer Yes!!!, Outer Jacket, No! If you read the marketing material, Columbia basically indicates this works best as an insulated layer and I agree. I think that garment used as an insulated layer is very good product that can be used with a variety of jackets. As an outer jacket, I would consider it to be light duty as the material does not seem that durable to handle scrapes, there may be more heat loss in wind situations and this material would not really be an ideal material for direct rain (I have not tried it yet but other reviews concur with my opinion) moisture yes, rain no. As for use as insulated layer it works very well. The material does not bind with other materials (meaning it is slippery), so there is no problems with restricting the garments from moving. It is fairly warm but it is also thin, so as a layer it works as it reduces bulk but retains more heat than a thick sweater or fleece garments and it heats up fast. I use it with my heavy duty offshore sailing jacket made with Gore-tex, which only has a fleece liner for the torso and neck areas and not the arms or hood and this Columbia product makes up for that. This combination works great for a variety of winter activities but I have not tested its worth in a cold rain. Issue/non issue - weighted: There was no device to adjust the wrist or hood opening it uses elastic. For me the elastic was fine for the wrist but on the hood is elastic is loose and does not really do anything to keep the hood closed around my head. In my case it does not matter that much because my outer jacket can facilitate that. Of course maybe the design is there not to restrict movement and dissipate moisture; this garment does lock in heat, so these opening are a good vent for perspiration. The length is fairly long. On me, it goes four inches past my waist. On waste length jackets it sticks out but is thin enough to be folded or pulled up. The good thing about the length is that you loose heat around those lower areas, so this another way to keep the heat in. The bad thing is that if you wear a waste length coat, and don't fold or pull this up, this may take more abuse than it is designed for and also, the 'look' may not work for you. Zipper ( this is why this got a four star on quality). The zippers slider and pull tab is metal but the teeth are nylon and they do bind with the jacket material if you casually zip it up and don't keep the outer material out of the way; I would advise getting a nylon lubricant for the zipper. While the zipper teeth seem to be well made and in alignment, the teeth are thin and may not hold up, if there is stress put on it, if this was used with multiple garments underneath it and/or with a lot movement. Build quality: I could only find one loose thread around the zipper. Overall, very good for what I believe is it's intended purpose as an inside layer. As an outer jacket I would look at other products.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent jacket if you plan to layer. Runs too big Decent jacket if you plan to layer, not enough if you plan to wear it on its own (with say a T-shirt). Runs very big. Most large jackets fits me well but this one runs very big, to a point that I am returning it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice jacket, but didn’t fit I’ll admit that I’m hard to fit properly, but the medium was too slim and would not fit, I exchanged it for the large, and it was huge. Most Columbia jackets have a somewhat boxy fit, and work perfectly for me in medium. Otherwise, it would have been a perfect lightweight down jacket for my needs.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from One Week In - Use carefully I purchased this coat as a gift to my 17-year old son. At 5'6" and only 105 lbs, the medium is a little big. I knew we would be iffy between a small and a medium. However, he loves it. On the jacket's first outing in the yard, on a 10 degree morning, it received a small tear in the back which began leaking down feathers. I'm not sure if he caught it on a stick or if a dog toenail got it. Either way, he is upset that his new coat has a hole. We will try and patch it but I have concerns about future holes. Perhaps this jacket is intended for careful use only? As a footnote - my son did say that it was nice and warm. He even liked the hood and usually he hates hoods, so that is a plus.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It lacks important things to keep you warm This jacket is really nice but it needs a few things to make it great there is no drawstring at the bottom to keep the air out no elastic no nothing also the hood lacks a drawstring or elastic or anything else tighten it around your head these things being fixed the jacket would be great Someone really dropped the ball on the design of this jacket kind of disappointed with this purchase

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Happy With Purchase I ordered this jacket for a recent trip to Minneapolis where the weather was expected to be much colder than here at home (highs in the low 20s). The jacket performed above my expectations. It is very lightweight, yet very warm. I would not have any reservations recommending this coat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for warmth I bought this coat for a trip to New York in December. The only complaint I have is, it’s just a little bitty bit snug for a 2xl. It was absolutely amazing for warmth and staying dry through some very heavy snow!! Would recommend to anyone.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from GREAT looks but not suitable for cold This isn’t a jacket for weather below 50• F - at least not without a sweater beneath. The jacket is light, well made and it seems a great option for camping and rain. Just not on winter time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most comfortable jacket ever! I just purchased this jacket for my son’s 24th birthday last week. I have gotten three texts from him since. The first text said he loves the coat; it’s the softest jacket he has ever owned. The second text he said he can’t believe how warm it is even though it’s not bulky, and the last text I just got from him yesterday said he has worn it more than he hasn’t. Seriously! Haha. So I guess it was a real winner!! I got him a medium because the reviews said it ran large. He is 6’1”, 165lbs and it fits perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Columbia best lightweight jacket Super warm lightweight jacket. The only part of my upper body that was cold in 50 degree weather was my face & hands (no gloves). Down feathers NOT poking thru like the competition jackets.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Warm at all Zip is not really smooth. The collar/hood area is not comfortable. Too little down fill, not warm. Don't know when to wear it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from True to Size, Compact, Perfect! This fits like a true 2XL and does not run too small unlike most other brands I tried in. A thinner puffy style which is exactly what I wanted. The hood is perfect and has a great collar height. Finally found what I was looking for!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very good looking jacket... The jacket was warm and the quality was really good. However, the jacket was very long, altmost 5 inches longer than other Columbia jackets of the same size that I own. At end I decided to send it back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great everyday jacket I bought this coat as a gift for my boyfriend. I would say this runs a little large but it still fit him well. He loves the jacket because it is stylish and can wear it everyday. It was a lot thinner than I was expecting but he says it is just as warm as his thicket coats. I would recomend this jacket to anyone who is looking for a coat they can wear almost anywhere. It is nice enough to wear to work but simple enough to wear around town.
