Rated 3 out of 5 by John58 from Poor Lacing System I have used this shoe for 10 years (3 to 4 pairs per year) - perfect fit for my wide foot). However, he lacing system will probably have me change shoes as after a couple of hundred kms, the system starts slipping and the laces won't stay tight. Please bring back the standard lacing.

The sole and comfort, as well as the weight are well designed and thought trough. Not a big fan of the lace Technic. Unfortunate the shoe runs narrow towards the toes, so I had to return them. Otherwise this product would be exactly what I have been looking for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Uhly from Best version of this shoe to date! I've been wearing the Mountain Masochist shoe since 2013. Frankly, I was contemplating switching to a different shoe because I felt the Mountain Masochist was getting a little stale, but the version IV has completely won me over. This is the best fitting and most comfortable version of the Mountain Masochist I've worn over the years and the speed lacing system is a huge improvement. I run mostly rolling dirt trails with occasional rocky sections and these shoes work extremely well in those conditions. I highly recommend this product. I typically order 1 size larger than what I wear for road running to help compensate for my feet swelling during racing and training and to minimize the contact between my toes and the front of the shoe.

I think the shoes could breathe more but then wouldn't be waterproof probably. Maybe bit stiff but didn't have time to break them in because they were a little large had to return them to get a half size smaller.

With the slush, huge puddles that turned to ice, my feet were dry and I was able to get traction when I needed. I usually walk very stiff but was able to freely move in these urban ice jungle monsters. My friend Meghan told me to write this and I even took a photo of the mess we were walking in and I felt sorry she didn't' have what I had as she had soaked cold feet! Thanks Columbia for making Ice Storm 2018 a breeze! (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Intention was to use them for trail work and light hiking, but they are so comfortable that they are now my everyday shoe. Love the speed laces and the cushioning is top notch.
