Men’s Mountain Masochist™ IV Trail Shoe is rated out of 5 by 15.
Rated 2 out of 5 by JBH7 from Masochist is an apt name Despite my relatively flat feet, these shoes were quite tight across the instep. Further, the cushioning was firm, but not at all forgiving. This was not a shoe that I would want to wear any distance, even without 5he fit issue. They were returned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by hornedtoads from great long distance shoe I'm so happy Columbia continued the Montrail line. The Mt. Masochist is the only shoe I can wear that is heel friendly and gives my toes enough room. I'm got a long trip planned this summer and the Masochist is my go-to shoe. Customer service has always been outstanding at Columbia, I'm glad Montrail found a home there.

Rated 1 out of 5 by efxm23 from Not good at all I am a big fan of Columbia but these shoes are awful. I got them for a lot less than full price and still feel I paid too much. They are not waterproof and cushioning is not fantastic. Do not recommend at all

Rated 3 out of 5 by mike1234567987654321 from Speed Lacing system interferes with fit The speed laces are short and do not allow the shoe to be opened up to...get your foot in. I have a high instep and am trying to use a shoe horn. conventional laces would have been much better...the eyelets are too small to allow ordinary laces to be fitted. won;t buy these again these shoes seem to run smaller than expected compared to other columbias I have had. I think standard of sizing and overall quality has declined the past 5 years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JLuck52 from Montrail Trail shoe I purchased this product with intention for a safer grip, I also have been using this sneaker/trail shoe for light workouts at the gym. They are very comfortable so far so good. Also they truly have good support.

Rated 5 out of 5 by GLupNordt from I'll keep buying them! I ran my last Spartan Trifecta, including every step of my training (and every bleeping burpee), in my Columbia Montrail Mountain Masochist shoes. Could not have been happier with the grip, comfort, and amazing durability. I've used this new pair for a couple workouts, and it appears to me that Columbia has not skimped on these shoes. I'll keep buying them, as long as the high standards are maintained. I've tried (and liked) other brands -- Saucony, Inov8, Vasque, etc. -- and for my money, Columbia has them all beat. The biggest difference is the durability. These things are REALLY hard to kill. Believe me, I've tried. I'm not a stockholder and have no financial interest at stake. Just a guy who needs solid footwear.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Bisho from Very tight The look of this shoes is amazing with strong made, but doesn’t fit my feet, as its so tight in the front side and there is like strong chip inside part of the shoelaces. If they just keep the chip smooth this will be a great shoes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Millsy from Good shoe Already have black out dry model. Love both. Slightly wide in the toe box but that is good for my type of feet. All grip, no slip. They look stylish too. No complaints, buy this shoe.

Rated 3 out of 5 by DrBobSie from Runs Big If I had tried on these MM IV before I threw the box away, which is something I haven't had to do in the ten years or so of wearing Mountain Masochist shoes, I would have sent them back. But, alas, I own two pair and I will take the Lord's name in vain every morning for six months as I walk in shoes that are too big. I think the shoe itself is OK, but the sizing is the overwhelming concern.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DGL54 from Really great shoe Ran in the Masochist for years. I did not like what Columbia initially did with the shoe after they bought Montrail, so stopped running in the Masochist. I decided to give this iteration a try and I'm very happy with this shoe. The fit is great and I love the wide toebox, so necessary in multi-hour trail runs when your foot expands. The quick lacing system works well and doesn't loosen. It makes getting in and out of the shoe a breeze. The upper is designed to limit snags and is breathable. The missile has the same full length protection plate and lugged sole of past Masochists. With the low to the ground profile, great toebox flex and medial stability, Columbia has really done a fantastic job with this shoe. And ,no, I don't work for them! But,I will be making this my goto trial shoe. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)
