Uses Winter

OutDry™ Extreme is our first ever waterproof and breathable fabric technology constructed with a waterproof layer on the outside and soft, wicking fabric inside. Traditional raingear uses interior waterproof membranes which don't allow for air flow, and water-repellent coating that degrades over time. With OutDry™ Extreme, the rugged exterior is an incredibly water-tight membrane with millions of microscopic perforations that let water vapor escape through a wicking membrane directly fused to the shell.

Fully seam sealed and packable into its own back pocket, this innovative men’s rain pant from the Columbia Titanium collection delivers absolute waterproof protection and ultralight breathable comfort to keep you going, even in the middle of a downpour. The Outdry Ex Gold Pant’s fine-tuned, technical construction features articulated knees for great mobility, external seam tape for reinforcement against the elements, and a bevvy of zippered pockets to securely store your stuff.

Men's OutDry™ Ex Gold Pant is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wasn't quite what I had in mind Although this is a very good product, I was hoping it would be more of an all around, walk around winter pant when it is more of a slip over for wet snowy weather.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wet weather camping and hiking in Iceland These pants held up great and were easy to take on/off when the weather changed. Stood up to howling wind and rain keeping me dry on the inside. We were visiting Iceland just before the winter weather really set in, and with the right clothing were still able to do all the outdoor sights and hikes no matter the conditions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best rain pants ever! I work at an outdoor recreation store in Japan and we have rain pants from several other brands, but none of them compete with these. I have hiked Mt. Fuji 2 times in pouring rain (about 9 hours of hiking) and all other pants got wet through all the way after 30 minutes of exposure to heavy rain and I also were sweating in them. These pants have kept me dry during the whole time, and same whenever I used them for biking home in a small rainstorm from work - and they really are breathable even with moderate activity. If you have a full set of outdry apparel, you are 100% impervious to water! My only concern about it is that I have to pull the pants up really high, way above my waistline to be able to get on a bike...somehow the crotch to waist area is a little too long... but compared to how hard it is to find this quality of rain gear, this is a non-issue. I definitely recommend any Columbia Outdry product, my next purchase is going to be some outdry shoes!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Watch the crotch. Split right up the crotch. Luckily previous reviewers suggested wearing long underwear underneath them for warmth. Let's just say my clients were spared a potenially life-altering vision on my male evidence when I squatted down to check the oil in my boat. Hoping to return for a larger size and will reinforce them with duct tape. Otherwise they are great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outdry ex gold pant. As an avid fisherman both freshwater and saltwater, I expect clothes to endure the rigors and demands of the territory. The Outdry Ex Gold pants were a natural fit for the expectations of a functioning waterproof pant. The fit of the pants were right on the money allowing me to kneel, walk bend with all moments required in fishing while keeping me absolutely dry! very important in comfort. As well as function, the pants also looks great! I would recommend these pants not just for freshwater or saltwater fishing but hiking and camping as well. As expected from the Columbia company. Bravo.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Could be better for cycling y old pair of rain pants are so old that I've forgotten when I bought it. I want to say I bought it in Switzerland during one of the more rainy tours of the Alps (hence it must have been outrageously expensive), but it could easily have been in Austria. In any case, this winter, I discovered that it wasn't waterproof any more. (It might never have been waterproof, but the plasticky surface fooled me into thinking that it was) Having had a great experience with the Columbia Mens Titanium Outdry Ex jacket, I bought the Gold Titanium Outdry Pants, which strangely enough are not actually gold, but are the same color as the jacket I bought. Whoever names these clothing items at Columbia must be even more color-blind than I am. (And before you tell me that it's obvious that "Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Titanium" must be obviously grade levels for gear quality, I have searched in vain on Columbia's website to see if there's any rhyme or reason to the metal-type they use in their branding and have found nothing) The pants are relatively light at 286g for my size (size small, in both jacket and pants). They come with belt loops in addition to the elastic. That's good, because the elastic is insufficient to keep the pants up on my svelte waist, so I had to add a belt. It's also not good, because that means I have to carry a belt on tour! The pants also fold neatly into a pocket that's labeled "packable," a neat feature with no counterpart in the jacket! (Again, no rhyme or consistency in their product-line) The packed size is quite big, but the packing protects the shiny material so it won't wear out prematurely in your pannier or saddlebag. In practice the pants are big enough that I can wear normal (non-cycling) pants under it and ride comfortably. The pants flare out a bit too much at the bottom, so if you're a cyclist you MUST use ankle ties or the pants will get caught in the chain/chainrings eventually. Yet another thing to carry on tour. Clearly, it's designed more for hikers than for cyclists. Some complain that the pants are noisy, but they must be hikers: on my bike I can't tell, mainly because the rain drowns out any noise from the pants. The pants do stay dry (which included time not just cycling, but also fixing a flat tire in the rain). They're also nice and warm (though how much of it was that I was wearing a whole layer of hiking pants underneath, I don't know), maybe a bit too warm. Not a problem on tour: just don't wear leg warmers under these pants. I wish the color was something bright (like the jacket), but again, these seem designed for hiking and not cycling, but I'd say that they're very good for what they do, and well worth the price. (Around $90 or so on sale) I'm discovering that I must be a Columbia fan, because my favorite pair of hiking pants (bought so long ago that I don't remember when) also say Columbia Titanium on them. Recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top notch Im a bike messenger in NYC, and im always outside in all sorts of weather. this is by far the best water proof material out on the market. This keeps me dry in a down pour and if breathes quite nice. If you want to stay active but dry, this is the way to go. Good job Columbia, looking foward to purchace the next best thing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Bit Too Stylish These OutDry rain pants keep you dry and do breath quite well. Neither will you swelter in your own body heat. I like them and recommend them, with certain reservations. The first of these is that the leg zippers are not long enough to help in putting on the pants if you are putting them on over your shoes. Mind you it can be done, but you are going to have to work your foot down the pant leg by pulling one way, then the other. It is far easier just to take your shoes off. Second quibble: The pant legs are a bit too narrow, and that adds to the problem with the leg zippers. I think the designers were trying to make the garment fit into the "skinny jeans" style.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Pair of Rain Repelling Pants I just received these pants, so I am working under untested outdoor experience. I will just say that I like the look of the pants, like the stretch waist, like the available pockets, and especially like the zippered front. I have a pair of other rain pants, which have no zipper, which makes me have to partially 'disrobe' when the need arises. The size is true to what was stated, which is highly appreciated. I put on a pair of my trail pants (lightweight pants, which also convert into shorts). I had to unzip the leg zippers, to pull the legs of my trailpants down, as both sides got hung at the knee. Everything was fine after this was done. I have two other pairs of Titanium pants, which are lined, for cold weather. If it was not for having these, I would buy another pair of these pants. I definitely recommend them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pants For Everything Where to start with these amazing pants. I've used them from yard work to motorcycle riding to construction work. these pants will keep everything off of you. Whether it be dirt, mud, oil, rain or Epoxy. my one and only complaint is the boot zippers if Columbia made them just and inch or two longer then there would be no issue taking them off and on with boots, but as is you have to do a weird turn it inside out shuffle thing. But man they keep you dry and clean. I've never experience rain pants that didn't make you sweat like it was raining on the inside. but these will keep the inside free of outside elements and inside heat/sweat.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Men's OutDry™ Ex Gold Pant OutDry mens pants are grey plastic NOT black. The plastic shell pants is tight fit no room to wear over base layer or ski pants or jeans. I purchased the OutDry pants based on the waterproof of the OutDry reversible jacket shell that fit over my ski coat. If they made pants 1/2 to inch wider over all in thighs and knees and butt area then fit would be much better. If you have legs like NFL running back then OutDry pants will not fit you. The leg zipper should be made to knee high so I can fit over 17" calf. The pants remind me of rockstar wearing shiny leather pants

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Rain Pants These are some of the best rain pants I have ever used. They are lightweight, and dry. I am a full time fishing guide and I wear these every morning while I am catching bait. They did not last as long as I had hoped, but the amount of wear and tear I put on them far exceeds the average fisherman. I do recommend this product. *pants shown in pic

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Keeps you dry I commute to work on a bicycle and I have to keep the weather in mind when I commute. If it is going to be raining I tend to just drive my car. That was the case at least until I found these pants. They do a great job of keeping me dry and keeping some of the wind off me. I pair them with a base layer and I am golden for my commute to and from work. I have not gone hiking with them yet, but I assume they will do essentially the same. They do make some noise when you are walking, so maybe do not take these bird watching.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It does not look quality product It does not look quality product. It is functional though. It is more like a raincoat, why not buy a raincoat with cheaper price?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tested in White Mountains I was skeptical at first based on other reviews, but I was extremely impressed with how these pants held up. Pants are completely waterproof as advertised, water beaded right off. Best feature is how breathable they are. I worked up quite a sweat, and while my arms and body were drenched from my heavy shell, my legs were totally comfortable in these pants. They do run a little tight, they're more of an athletic fit than baggy, but it's not a big deal to me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible fit. I ordered a size small. I have about a 31 inch waist and the size charge said 32 inch waist for the small. The waistband is fine and the length are fine. Unfortunately, these pants are too tight in the inner thigh and crotch area. If I lift my legs as high as possible to step over something, I feel like I may rip this pants at the crotch. Leg movements in certain directions are met with resistance. I am a skinny guy so I can see how this would be an even bigger issue with most other people. If I went with a size medium the waist band would be way too huge. The fit of these pants is slim from the knees up and flared from the knees down. This is not a good fit for rain pants! They should be baggy in waist and slim tapered in the legs. This is not a common/popular pant fit so maybe Columbia was concerned about fashion? It seems like they took a pair of there standard hiking pants and copied the fit into rain pants. These are in desperate need of a crotch gusset ideally made out of stretchy fabric. These pants are also extremely noisy which is something I was willing to deal with for the impermeable face fabric technology. One good thing is they only weigh 9 ounces.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Leg zipper to short The zippers on the legs are too short to allow putting the pants on over my size 14 shoes. Also, you need a belt to hold them up as there is no elastic in the waist. Returned for a refund and will look at other rain pants with longer leg zippers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Outdry EX Gold Pants These pants keep the rain out, but still don't breathe well enough for me on a strenuous hike. You need a belt to keep them up, so now you have a belt on your hiking pants, then another belt on your rain pants. It's not very comfortable when hauling a pack.
Date published: 2016-11-15
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great rain pants except a BELT IS NEEDED Water runs off and the pants do not wet-out at all. A few shakes leaves them dry. Pockets are roomy. The pants are compact enough to fold up and put in a small dry bag. The ONLY flaw is that a BELT is needed to hold the pants up. I have a 35" waist. The large size pants fit well in the legs but the waist is too big. The pants come with 2" belt loops but do not include a belt or any elastic in the waist band. Without a belt or elastic, the pants slip down several inches and the bottom of the legs drag on the ground. This is an incredibly dumb design oversight. Some elastic in the back of the waist band would make these THE BEST RAIN PANTS EVER.
Date published: 2016-08-28
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outer Material Doesn't Wet Water beads up on this material and does not wet it. After coming in out of the rain, an few shakes essentially leaves the outside dry. Pockets are roomy and these are compact enough to fold up and put in my rain jacket pocket. They are supposed to fold into the back pocket but this is quite a chore. It's easier to just either roll them or fold them up for carrying.
