Rated 1 out of 5 by 2TallTyson from Buy the Watertight II rain shell instead If all you need is a rain jacket, the Watertight II shell is a much better choice. The Outdry Ex Gold Tech Shell is basically a rain jacket with a better material for breath-ability (should you be walking through a hot jungle during rainy season). Because there is no insulation, it feels like a jacket made from the material used under the siding of your house so feel was not better than the Watertight II. It also had an extremely wide torso so the fitment was bad as well. I did not test the jacket out because I did not like the feel of the material nor the fit around the torso so I returned it. I did get the Outdry Ex Gold Down Hooded Jacket, which had some of the same fitment issues, but felt much higher quality and there are no other options for a waterproof down jacket. My Watertight II is as good or better of a rain jacket option than this for less than half the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CascadianAaron from Finally a real breathable rain jacket!!! I've never liked Gore-Tex or similar (including Omni-Tech) jackets where the face fabric would wet out then the jacket would quit breathing and eventually leak. Yes, you had to keep the DWR treatment beading water, but then why did you need the WP/B membrane? Simply stated, those jackets never worked for me. In a wet hike in the Opal Creek Wilderness, this jacket shed water like a PVC Rain Coat, but breathed as well as any laminate jacket I've owned. Yes eventually it got a little steamy inside but open up the pit zippers and everything was fine.
