Rated 4 out of 5 by Aquinomas from Great Multi purpose shorts Who couldn't use shorts which worked great whether wet or dry conditions at hand? Not only are they versatile but they look and feel great too. Sometimes you hit it out of the park with online purchases. This is one of those times!

Rated 4 out of 5 by BDub68 from Nice swim shorts Have only used these once, but they are very nice shorts. Great quality and I'm looking forward to wearing them when I visit Guam next month. As many as have stated, they do run a bit large. I wear 36" shorts and pants, so I ordered large. I should have ordered a medium. Not a big problem, since the strap is easily adjustable, as long as you remove the stitching for the tag on the waist. Also had a little chaffing from the webbing on the inside of my legs after wearing them, probably because of them being too big.

Rated 4 out of 5 by namfos from Excellent for working out I like these shorts very much. Especially the belt which goes all the way around instead of being stitched down on the side seams. They're a tad too long for my preference, hence 4 stars, probably would have given 5 if the 9" inseam model was available when I purchased. Still, I bought 3 pairs. I love Columbia shorts!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jaykay from Lightweight The material feels light and airy. They're comfortable to wear in hot weather and dry fast. Downsides about the waist band and belt: - I found the waist band a bit tight to pull-over the hips since they barely stretch. - Oddly, once the shorts are on, I'm unable to securely tighten the belt around my 30" waist since the belt appears sewn inside the waist band (the belt therefore does not appear to be removable). - No loop to hold the belt's tag end, meaning that it dangles on the front when cinched.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Jim66 from Shorts are too big. I recently purchased 2 pairs of shorts. I did not realize that one pair was relaxed fit until I tried them on and the waist was way too big. I decided to keep the shorts thinking they might shrink bit and returning them would cost almost as much as they cost. I’ve tried to make them work but they are too big at the waist and will not wear them anymore. Why would relaxed fit have a larger waist? So I am disappointed. Not sure what the best solution is except to learn and pay more attention when ordering. If you look at the site, the relaxed fit is hard to see. Thank you for your time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by 808guy from Great quality but poorly designed belt I like everything about these shorts except for one design flaw: The sewn-in belt. I'm a 33-inch waist. The stationary end is 2 inches long and allows barely 1 inch of adjusting smaller. If you're a 32-inch waist, think twice. Columbia, you should make the stationary end much shorter so there's more room to cinch the belt tighter.

Rated 3 out of 5 by RDavis from Changes needed For columbiia The backer for the pockets is light mesh and has not held up. Adding a lower pocket on the right side for holding someing like a phone? And a zipper fly would be nice as well. For consumer The shorts are cool and breath well making them good for rafting. There is one small useable pocket on the left side and pockets to keep your hands if you need them. There is a web belt to help keep them in place. Also there is a mesh underware system in the shorts. Making them good for hot days around water.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SpartanMO31 from Excellent but a tad large Great water shorts, exactly what I was looking for to spend 24/7 in at the lake and around town (if I have to). For me, ran a little large (6'1" 160#). I ordered the Mediums at first based on the size guide of 32-35" waist. I typically wear a size 33 pant. Re-ordered the Smalls and while they fit great, even with the belt cinched down I worry about their ability to stay up when they're soaked, so I'll probably have to have the belt tailored down a bit. Other than that - great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Witknee from Water Shorts I am a raft guide, and I own 5 pair of these shorts. The belt allows a tight fit for the rougher part of the river or an adjustment to a more relaxing fit for calm waters. They dry quickly, provide great protection from the sun, and are very comfortable sitting in the raft, getting pulled into a rapid, or loading boats between trips. They are tough and last awhile.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Beatle from Best water short ever! This is my second go around for these shorts I had all of the colors that were sold by a local Outdoor shop wanted to get more but they had quit selling these shorts. I went to your web site and ordered all colors. Most likely will order all the colors again in a few weeks. I live in these shorts year around.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Keith427 from Love the Palmerston Water Shorts This makes my second pair of Palmerston Water Shorts. Whether playing in the water, relaxing on the beach, or fishing in our boat, they are perfect. The weight is just right for very hot weather, yet not too lite for cooler weather. I've worn my first pair quite a bit, and there is absolutely no fade in the color! Awesome product with an awesome quality for an awesome price!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by MikeDB from Great Shorts for Boating/Fishing/Cruising Before the review, let me say ABYSS IS BLUE. I mean no disrespect to those who have said they are basically black, but they are not. They are VERY dark blue (like dark midnight blue), but you will not want to pair these with a green shirt or other clashing color. I am very happy with the comfort, convenience and durability of these shorts. They are great for the boat, they dry quickly, and they do include a light mesh liner (like men’s swim trunks), but they wear comfortably with boxer briefs, etc. I am 6’ 2” and a 40 waist, and XL (with 9” inseam) fits well hitting me just above the knees and snugging the included belt a little. I will purchase again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JoeT from Great water shorts I have used Columbia products most of my life. These water shorts (swim suit) have been my go to swim wear since I can remember. The new shorts I just bought are just like my last pair. For me it doesn't get any better than that. You can't wear out this stuff. By the way I am 70 years old.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Vavoom from Palmerton Peak Water Shorts This shorts are highly functional, looks good enough dry with a polo to dine in after being in the water to swim, fish or what have you! Great pocket, belt and inner net! GREAT price while on on sale, well worth the cost regardless! I love love love these! I am a tweener, L vs XL went with L, they fit!

Rated 5 out of 5 by SaabLance from The only shorts you need! I have owned multiple pairs of these shorts starting 15 years ago. They are perfect for Summer wear or all year round if you are so inclined. I love the light weight and especially built in mesh lining which eliminates the need for any under shorts! If you want to jump in the pool there's no need to change into swim trunks after you get out of the water ...your Palmerston Peak shorts will be dry within minutes . Highly recommended !

Rated 5 out of 5 by DonnD from Great shorts The Palmerston Peak water shorts are extremely comfortable and don't fade with extended use. I were mine as both water shorts (jet skiing) and for dress with a polo shirt (golf). The 9" or 11" inseam option is great. The material is good quality as is the stitching and I now have 3 pairs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Robertson from One Complaint Columbia has fixed the belt problem on previous models and you have a real belt on this short. That's good. Sadly, they now have only 1 secure pocket (zipper), whereas previous models had 2 (zipper and velcro). I got my kayak wet this weekend and needed both.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Docj from Nice Shorts These shorts are nice and would get a higher rating if the belt buckle wasn't such poor quality. The belt does not stay tight, I am looking at buying other buckles on line to make the shorts functional.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SeaWillie from Perfect! These shorts ROCK! This is my second pair and the first lasted too many years to count. I love the waist strap and while the pocket layout (and quantity) has changed over time, they still provide secure storage for when I'm out of the water.
