Men's Palmerston Peak™ Water Short is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 131.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all-round shorts! I have been purchasing and wearing Columbia Palmerston shorts for many years. I have never been disappointed in the comfort and quality of this product. These shorts are great for everyday wear as well as swimming trunks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from # GOTOSHORTS These shorts are great to kick around in or just to throw on ! You can also use them as swimming trunks, they dry quick and wear easy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Changes needed For columbiia The backer for the pockets is light mesh and has not held up. Adding a lower pocket on the right side for holding someing like a phone? And a zipper fly would be nice as well. For consumer The shorts are cool and breath well making them good for rafting. There is one small useable pocket on the left side and pockets to keep your hands if you need them. There is a web belt to help keep them in place. Also there is a mesh underware system in the shorts. Making them good for hot days around water.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent but a tad large Great water shorts, exactly what I was looking for to spend 24/7 in at the lake and around town (if I have to). For me, ran a little large (6'1" 160#). I ordered the Mediums at first based on the size guide of 32-35" waist. I typically wear a size 33 pant. Re-ordered the Smalls and while they fit great, even with the belt cinched down I worry about their ability to stay up when they're soaked, so I'll probably have to have the belt tailored down a bit. Other than that - great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is era of the expanding man..... I needed some trunks for a trip to Mexico this Spring break. These are just what the doctor ordered. Great columbia quality and function.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lasts forever I wear nothing but these shorts. It takes a long time to wear them out.
Date published: 2018-03-24
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Water Shorts I am a raft guide, and I own 5 pair of these shorts. The belt allows a tight fit for the rougher part of the river or an adjustment to a more relaxing fit for calm waters. They dry quickly, provide great protection from the sun, and are very comfortable sitting in the raft, getting pulled into a rapid, or loading boats between trips. They are tough and last awhile.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best water short ever! This is my second go around for these shorts I had all of the colors that were sold by a local Outdoor shop wanted to get more but they had quit selling these shorts. I went to your web site and ordered all colors. Most likely will order all the colors again in a few weeks. I live in these shorts year around.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing! Perfect for my husband! He’s 6’4” and always has a hard time finding long swim shorts. These were great! (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the Palmerston Water Shorts This makes my second pair of Palmerston Water Shorts. Whether playing in the water, relaxing on the beach, or fishing in our boat, they are perfect. The weight is just right for very hot weather, yet not too lite for cooler weather. I've worn my first pair quite a bit, and there is absolutely no fade in the color! Awesome product with an awesome quality for an awesome price!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Shorts for Boating/Fishing/Cruising Before the review, let me say ABYSS IS BLUE. I mean no disrespect to those who have said they are basically black, but they are not. They are VERY dark blue (like dark midnight blue), but you will not want to pair these with a green shirt or other clashing color. I am very happy with the comfort, convenience and durability of these shorts. They are great for the boat, they dry quickly, and they do include a light mesh liner (like men’s swim trunks), but they wear comfortably with boxer briefs, etc. I am 6’ 2” and a 40 waist, and XL (with 9” inseam) fits well hitting me just above the knees and snugging the included belt a little. I will purchase again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice trunks I like these trunks. Run slightly large but quality is consistent with Columbia.
Date published: 2017-10-08
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great water shorts I have used Columbia products most of my life. These water shorts (swim suit) have been my go to swim wear since I can remember. The new shorts I just bought are just like my last pair. For me it doesn't get any better than that. You can't wear out this stuff. By the way I am 70 years old.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Palmerton Peak Water Shorts This shorts are highly functional, looks good enough dry with a polo to dine in after being in the water to swim, fish or what have you! Great pocket, belt and inner net! GREAT price while on on sale, well worth the cost regardless! I love love love these! I am a tweener, L vs XL went with L, they fit!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The only shorts you need! I have owned multiple pairs of these shorts starting 15 years ago. They are perfect for Summer wear or all year round if you are so inclined. I love the light weight and especially built in mesh lining which eliminates the need for any under shorts! If you want to jump in the pool there's no need to change into swim trunks after you get out of the water ...your Palmerston Peak shorts will be dry within minutes . Highly recommended !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good if getting wet If you have to be in the water and out of it several times a day, these shorts are great. They dry quickly and don't feel uncomfortable in the crotch either wet or dry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Palmerston Peak Shorts Great pair of shorts. I really like the fit and fell. I recommend them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Would purchase again. Overall an excellent product that delivers everything that it advertised. Should give me many years of performance and comfort. Especially like the built in mesh brief. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shorts The Palmerston Peak water shorts are extremely comfortable and don't fade with extended use. I were mine as both water shorts (jet skiing) and for dress with a polo shirt (golf). The 9" or 11" inseam option is great. The material is good quality as is the stitching and I now have 3 pairs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all day active shorts I wear these when on the boat all day whether I jump in the water or not - lightweight for those hot days

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best to Wear I've been wearing Columbia Men's water shorts for over 10 years and by far they are comfortable, durable and size I order is exactly as the label states!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from One Complaint Columbia has fixed the belt problem on previous models and you have a real belt on this short. That's good. Sadly, they now have only 1 secure pocket (zipper), whereas previous models had 2 (zipper and velcro). I got my kayak wet this weekend and needed both.
Date published: 2017-06-19
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice Shorts These shorts are nice and would get a higher rating if the belt buckle wasn't such poor quality. The belt does not stay tight, I am looking at buying other buckles on line to make the shorts functional.
Date published: 2017-06-10
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect! These shorts ROCK! This is my second pair and the first lasted too many years to count. I love the waist strap and while the pocket layout (and quantity) has changed over time, they still provide secure storage for when I'm out of the water.
Date published: 2017-06-08
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Buckle Issues I really liked the look and fit of these shorts. Was very pleased with the way the buckle worked and the waist stayed snug, right up until the first time I washed them and the buckle came apart. You have a great product if you improve the sturdiness of the buckle.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Quality and Size Waning I wear columbia almost daily now for 15+ yrs but have noticed quality is waning and sizes (waist, shirt sleeves) vary according to which foreign country makes product. Becoming disappointed and sold my columbia stock. Start making in the US! Bring back the old PFG titanium cargo shorts with multiple pockets (zippered, pull cord, and flap pockets) as those lasted, functioned well, and the sizes were uniform. Just returned another item, this time a mail order. Ordered small, received small. Incredibly large size with elastic waist made for a bear. Probably fits a 40" waist, mine is 30". Don't buy Palmerstons. Eagle Rivers are cheaper now too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great choice! This is my third pair and I love them...and I am not a small person in my waist and legs!
Date published: 2017-05-30
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Beach Shorts Best features: Long 11 inch inseam, belt that actually tightens (unlike board shorts that always seem too loose), front pockets are deep enough, good zip security pocket, built in liner, quick dry. I can walk, run and be active in the ocean with these shorts. I have 2 pair so one is always clean and ready to wear. I just bought a third pair to save for the future just incase they stop making these.
Date published: 2017-05-28
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Shorts ever I have purchased many pairs of these shorts over the last years and as always a great fit, style and quality. Will continue to make these my shorts of choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Palmer stone Peak Men's Shorts Love these shorts. Comfortable, durable. Have just reordered three other colors. Prefer the 9" vs 11" length
Date published: 2017-05-03
Rated 2 out of 5 by from My 6th pair of this short Not roomy in the seat like the 5 prior pair and very little elastic in the waist. This will be my last pair of this model.
Date published: 2017-04-29
Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEST. SHORTS. EVER. I have been wearing Columbia water shorts for at least 20 years. When I lived in Illinois, I wore them in the summer when golfing, fishing, etc. Then I moved to south Texas. These shorts are perfect for our weather. Golfing, swimming, fishing, amusement parks...you name it...these shorts have you covered for any outdoor activity. The material wears like iron. I have many of this exact model and have yet to notice any signs of premature or abnormal wear. The color stays fast without any fading or bleaching from chlorinated pools or frequent washing. I would describe these shorts as a cross between cargo shorts and swimming trunks. They have a liner so wearing them in the water is not an issue. But the style, length and pockets allow them to be worn in most any casual setting. Best feature is if your plans change...you don't have to change your shorts. Want to hit the local burger joint after swimming? Chances are they will be dry before you finish placing your order. I am a bigger guy and I find the sizing to be perfect for me. A little extra room is always welcome. And the 11" length provides extra protection against the sun when golfing. I have read some reviews of complaints of the lack of a back pocket. Yes...there is no back pocket, but it has a nice side (cargo) pocket to make up for that. I put my wallet in one front pocket, my phone in the other, and my car keys in the cargo pocket and I am ready to roll. If your a guy and need more pockets than that...well what can I say? And finally I have read some reviews that some people cannot tighten the belt enough, that one end is fixed. No it is not. The tag on the back that is wrapped over the waist band and stitched with two thread loops has to be properly removed. Just don't yank off the tag. Get a seam ripper and remove those two little thread loops (usually white thread so you would want to remove them anyway). This will free up the belt so you can center it and tighten it as much as you want. Heck you can even remove it and install it in the other direction if you want the buckle to work the other direction. Like many things, this complaint is nothing more than user error!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great shorts but. . . Great, high quality shorts except for two things. First of all, a zippered back pocket would make these shorts far more convenient. Also, there is always an extra length of belt that hangs out. There must be another way to design these so the wearer can adjust the waistline without this sloppy look. Fix these two things, charge a couple bucks more and these shorts will be better than great. They will be awesome!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from River Shorts I live in the desert and love these in the hot months. The elastic in the belt could be stiffer so the shorts will tighten more.
Date published: 2017-04-24
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love these shorts!! I have tried on a lot of shorts but these are the best. I have finally found my short. They look great, they dry fast if they get wet and best of they are the most comfortable short out there. You can you them for casual dress or hiking swimming jogging and exercising. They are very durable too. They come in all colors to fit your need. You cant go wrong here. So go out and get yours today. I just hope they don't stop making them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from palmerston shorts We bought them in all colors and some even twice. These shorts are perfect for Florida. The quaity, the fabric, the fit. Excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Product Like the product. Fit is good and true but belt is too long and has to be cut off and sewed.
Date published: 2016-11-05
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Water Shorts These are the best water shorts I have ever had. I wear them as a bathing suit and I use them to walk on the treadmill. I love how they dry so quickly. The material is great! In addition to the elastic waist, there is also a belt on these shorts. They are so comfortable and I love the light material. The color doesn't fade. I lost a lot of weight recently and was upset that my shorts were too big. I was so happy to be able to order them again in a smaller size. These are my favorite shorts.
