Rated 5 out of 5 by SethFromNewEngland from Functional, Sturdy, Comfortable I have owned a pair of this for about 2 years now. My initial intention was to use them for summer hikes as they were both waterproof and low, but now they've become one of my most favorite pairs. They are guaranteed to keep you dry and comfortable during long hikes and rainy days. I have worn these continuously for over 48 hours in the woods and they're literally so comfortable. The best bang for the buck.

Rated 4 out of 5 by KJonthego from Great shoes that breaks in quick Its didn't take long for these hikers to become super comfy on the trail. Just a couple short hikes and they are ready to go. Heading to their first 14er tomorrow. Only drawback is even though they said the are breathable they aren't breakable enough. My feet can get hot quick.

Rated 4 out of 5 by JimmyJimJames from Waterproof and HOT I have these in size 12 and they fit great. I did not think that the toe-box was narrow as somebody else posted. I bought these before a trip out west, and broke them in for two weeks before going. Observations: Waterproof, comfortable but really, really HOT! I've never owned a set of sneakers before that made my feet so hot. It says that the Omni-Tech is waterproof and breathable, but the outer material of these shoes doesn't give them the ability to breath very much. Besides the heat issue, these shoes are great. They are very comfortable, the soles have nice grip and they really are waterproof. I think I will enjoy them more in the wintertime when it's cold outside and these shoes will keep my feet warm. One other thing: they are really a dark black. The pictures on the website make them look almost like a dark grey, but mine are midnight black.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Witknee from Waterproof low hiking shoe I have 5 different types of columbia hiking boots/ shoes. Depending on what you are looking for will determine if these are the right style for you. The waterproof feature works perfectly, but this takes away from the shoes ability to allow your foot to breath. They also must be broken in and aren't too flexible. I have hiked 40 miles in mine, and they are still extremely stiff. This would be good if your foot and arch need that extra support They are more of a low top boot than hiking shoe. If you are looking for a hiking shoe instead of boot, I would recommend the conspiracy titanium outdry shoe over these. I wish I would have paid the extra money and purchased those instead.

Rated 4 out of 5 by DavidTX from Not ideal if you have low arches/flat feet I've only had these shoes for about 2-3 weeks, but I've been wearing them everyday in urban and light trail hiking environments. The build quality is excellent: stitching is very clean, leather appears to be rugged and has held up nicely against sharp rocks. The bottom sole texture provides a nice grip without being too aggressive. Waterproofing has held up being submerged in 3-4in of water. The shoe is surprisingly breathable for it being waterproof leather. My only complaints are that the shoe is very narrow for a hiking shoe, so the stability is not quite as good as I would like (especially because I have low/collapsing arches) and the cushioning is not very comfortable in my opinion (also due to having low arches.) The ball of my feet hurt after standing/walking in these after about 8-9 hrs. I do like that these don't look too "Dad" when I wear them for casual wear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Shutterbug20 from Peakfreak Shoe Very happy with purchase. My size 10 for medium width fits just fine. I am fussy about comfort and would have liked a little more cushioning, something I can do on my own. Structurally, shoe offer's great support.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mtn5b from Great Shoes I really enjoy this shoe...I did wear them backpacking and got a little blister on my little toe, maybe a bit narrow in the forefoot for what I was doing but I wear them in construction and they perform perfectly. Very durable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by WGT12 from Outsole too narrow I have this sole in an older summer hiking shoe and ordered this new shoe assuming the same sole. The new shoe sole has a slightly narrower heel width and feels less stable, like I could roll my ankle if doing serious hiking.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Gil535 from Substandard leather I bought these because they were described as waterproof--which I need for my daily dog walks. After 2 months, the leather tops began to crack and they are no longer waterproof. I've never had a leather shoe deteriorate so fast. To boot, I had to pay return postage to Columbia in order for them to "evaluate" them (even after I sent pics!) AND I'm without shoes for at least 2 weeks. Not a very good business model and certainly not quality shoes. I'm going to select another pair only because Columboa only issues merchandise credits, not a refund as I requested.

Rated 4 out of 5 by jexplorer from A nice hiking shoe This shoe was comfortable straight out of the box. It fits well, is easy to tie on, and the outsole has excellent grip! I think the shoe runs a little hot (at least in the summer), which is probably the byproduct of it being waterproof. I don't know for sure, but I suspect that a GTX barrier instead of Omni-Tech, may have helped this issue. Certainly not a concern in cooler temps.

Rated 4 out of 5 by TotallyHosed from Excellent Winter Shoe Bought this shoe for the Chicago winters. I have hardware in my ankle that prevents me from wearing boots without pain. I have to wear low shoes despite all the snow we get. Therefore, waterproofing is essential. I'm very happy work these shoes because: - Waterproof - Very comfortable, especially the cushioned sole - Excellent traction on snow and ice I've had other brands that were surprisingly slippery in winter conditions. These shoes help you move with confidence. My only critique is that they do a poor job of keeping your feet warm. Combine these shoes with good merino wool socks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Flatpick from Comfortable Pretty good so far, runs small, hurt my big toes for about a month till it loosened up but I have wide feet. I work all day on my feet constantly walking, great job keeping my feet comfortable except for the big toe part. Haven't put it through too much of a test for it being waterproof yet but winter is coming. Will buy again just add .5 size bigger. Wish they had an option for wide.

Rated 5 out of 5 by scrumfle from Great looking and purposeful! I was looking for a shoe that was waterproof, light hiker, good for winter weather in terms of everyday use as well as the ability to be used in the summer as well. I needed all of this and most importantly something that made me look good, or at least looks good while wearing out to the stores, restaurants and pubs. This shoe looks the part, fits my use requirements and the best part is that it fit perfect right out of the box and was comfortable. The shoes have already been through the wet snow and has kept my feet dry. I would buy these again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by violinmaker1 from Great outdoor shoes I have bad feet and have difficulty finding shoes that are comfortable for longer than a few hours. I buy good quality, name brand shoes and have rarely had shoes that are as comfortable as these. I walk my dog 3-5 miles a day, about half the time in woods, tall grass or open field. So far these shoes have kept my feet dry and, with wool socks, warm. They are also pretty good looking, as attested to by my wife and my doctor, both of whom commented favorably as soon as they saw them. Very glad I bought them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by CaddyScott from First Shoe that needs some Breaking in This is the first waterproof shoe I have purchased from Columbia that has required some breaking in. I have had great experiences with all my waterproof shoes from Columbia (maybe 6 pairs). I am a professional caddy, so my shoes get plenty of wet testing in morning dew and those awful rains with no thunder that golfers play through.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Masi from Great Choice! I have worn these shoes for about 6 months at this point and taken them on one week long excursion and the more a break them in the happier I am with my choice of this shoe. After some long days walking I must say my feet felt quite good!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Leiva from When you do not want to wear boots. I keep my dress shoes at work and walk to work in my these shoes. They are comfortable and do a great job of keeping my feet warm and dry on the way to work or when I am hiking at the Brown County State Park in Indiana. I tend to walk a lot and loathe shoes that cause my feet to ache after a few miles. I also recommend these shoes when the elements do not call for a boot. They do the job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jay38 from great shoe for any occassion I recently purchased a second pair of this shoe, but my first pair are still in great condition after a year of almost daily wear. This is the only pair of shoes I wear (besides the occasional dress-up or serious hike), so it's important for me to have a shoe that I can wear in all weather conditions and on all types of surfaces. I wear this as my daily work shoe and they are comfortable walking on asphalt and concrete, but I also use them for light hiking and walking in the woods. For serious hikes I recommend a dedicated hiking shoe, but for everyday situations this is a perfect shoe that is stylish, comfortable, and functional.
