Men’s PFG Half Moon™ Short is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 95.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Attractive and functional These shorts are perfect for everyday and especially for vacations. They have the ability to hold several brochures without bulk...my husband loves them! He has a pair from years ago and he says these fit even better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable and Right Length I was looking for comfortable shorts that weren't too long or too short in the inseam. Looked high and low and several other Columbia choices. The fabric is light without being flimsy and the length is great. My own adjustable waist handles the Velcro and loop belt system quite well ..........!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product availability in size and color is horrible!!!!!! I have loved this style of sport/ utility short. The fabric dries quickly when wet and dissipates heat better than all others of a utility nature. Every part of the design is engineered for maximum comfort and smart utility. A unique solution for maximum form and function, however I remembered when there were more colors and I could get them in Medium. I cannot find the other colors and in this site;. only one color in my size! MEDIUM!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My husband FAVORITE shorts! My husband (inseam of 31")does not like the NEW shorts with the longer legs, as they hang below his knees. This style is his favorite! He has not been able to find these in the Columbia stores as they seem to always be out of his size. Apparently, lots of other men like them, too! Thank heavens for the online store! The pair that I just threw away were from the first year that this style was made (I believe early 90's), and they were literally held together with thread! The shorts fabric was still intact, but, the pockets were worn through and threadbare. This fabric wears like iron! Now that I have found the online store, he will not be allowed to keep shorts as long as he has these. Great product!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not small- HUGE! After the reading the reviews I thought this shorts would run small. I bought them anyway hoping my husband would slim down a little to fit in them. Only they weren't small at all. They were so huge my husband was swimming in them! I also didn't like the big elastic waste band. They remind me of toddler shorts. I do like the blue though. I hope Columbia continues to make this color. I wanted blue shorts to match the blue floppy hat I bought.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not the same size I ordered these shorts for our son because he LOVES the pair he has. We ordered the exact same size as his fossil pair and were extremely disappointed that the sage pair was way too small. Since we are on the east coast, it was expensive to mail them back. We will not be ordering again because we do not trust the sizes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from super product as most of yours are! had two pair that I wore out...great for all purpose...fishing/working in the yard/knock around the house/beach/yard....

Rated 1 out of 5 by from different thought I was buying same Columbia shorts as previiously purchased; do not like velcro waste fastener & strange back pockets.
Date published: 2013-07-15
Rated 5 out of 5 by from this product has great features love the colors, great fit.
Date published: 2013-07-08
Rated 3 out of 5 by from SHORTS Returned them because I found the material irritating to my skin. Also could not keep wallet in back pocket because the back pocket is not a secure space.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Men's Half Moon Shorts Originally ordered XL and had to switch to XXL. These fit great and are currently my favorite shorts. Appreciate the deep pockets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Shorts I wear these shorts almost daily during the summer. I wear them fishing offshore every trip. These shorts are durable, I have several pair that are 5 or more years old. I have a 30" inseam and really love the length of these shorts. Being 46 years old, I don't like my shorts past my knees. I have a 32" waist and wear a small in these shorts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for active sportsmen The half moon shorts are the greatest shorts made for active sportsman. Fishing, hiking, biking even golf . They fit great, no tight buttons, comfortable waist band, plenty of pockets, quick to dry if you get wet. Just wish you had more colors.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The Quality Isn't It's Used to Be I am a fan of Columbia clothing in the past. After this purchase, I am disappointed. The material does not carry the same quality I have known in the past.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Style is grea and comfortable, but limited colors(no hunter green) I've purchase and worn these short for over nine years. There great and don't have buttons(I do not like buttons on shorts). The stiching at bottom of leg needs to be improved; tape and double stich recommended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product Great short, but ran a little small for relaxed fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect hiking shorts. I have had several pairs of the Men's Half Moon Shorts. The webbed pockets are great while hiking and I can carry my cell phone without it getting hot in my pocket and easy to get to.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Size inconsistency in products The pant quality is fine and I assume the functionality will be just as good as all the of the Columbia products I purchase. On the other hand can you please explain to me why a medium in the Brewha shorts fits perfectly and the medium in the half moon wont even pass my thighs? I shop on line for convenience, if I have to send things back because two pair pants that are both marked as the same size, but clearly are not, the convenience factor is lost. Thank you
Date published: 2012-09-04
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not a Brewha I love the Brewha....I like the half moon. I miss the plastic clip as the little material loop is too small. I do like the slightly expanded color choice (greenish)
Date published: 2012-09-04
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not true to size From the reviews I read of these shorts, it was clear that they run small. So I bought my husband one size larger. Turns out they were too big. Don't know what to make of that.
Date published: 2012-08-29
Rated 4 out of 5 by from They call them fishing shorts. The developer never used these shorts for fishing. If you get a fish hook stuck in the mesh pockets it is impossible to remove the hook without damaging the mesh. However, I do like these shorts. I have short legs and most shorts hang too long on me ( to the knees). These fit me much better than others I've tried. In general, I find that Columbiia outdoor clothing to be the absolute best!
Date published: 2012-08-17
Rated 3 out of 5 by from great pair of shorts Nice shorts with plenty of pockets and nice cargo style. I am small framed with a 29"waist so these shorts were to baggy on me. On an average size person they should be a great choice. Just wish they fit me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HALF MOON SHORT I bought these shorts for my 19 year old son and also for my husband who is in his mid 50's. They both love them. The fit is great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Great fishing shorts. Dry quick ,great material (Tired of all the nylon fishing shorts. These are great on or off the boat!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 70's TENNIS SHORTS The styling was nice , waist fit was smaller than normal 36. The length was extremely short!!! Haven't worn shorts this short since the 1970's while playing tennis....LOL . Totally UNSATISFIED.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fit I bought a pair last year, They did great and fit good, the pairs I just bought fit smaller, don't know if you changed manufacter or what.
Date published: 2012-05-16
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shorts Usually I like my shorts to hit right above my knee cap, and I'm a tall/big guy.....these shorts are great. Favorite part about them is the deep (and we're talking deep) front pockets. When I'm driving around, stuff in the pockets doesn't bind up top near the waist, the sit right where they should. My waist size is 36 inches, so I thought I would need XL, but I went with the XXL just to have more room. I just use a belt to keep them up, and these are the most comfortable pair of shorts I have bought in a store. Will definitely be purchasing more. Roll Tide.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The product is exactly as advertised Before purchasing I read the reviews, looked at numerous different styles. I purchased these shorts to use on a trip to Mazatlan, Mexico. I haven't been disappointed in the least. In fact I wore them so much my wife wanted to throw them away when we returned home, saying she would never get them clean. Thanks Columbia for making such great clothing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fine hiking shorts I wore two pair of these shorts for 8-10 years. When they started to look a little faded. I checked with the Company to see if they were still made. A very helpful representative gave me the current name. They are very nice shorts- I do not like the trendier, longer , styles. Fit is perfect. Highly utilitarian.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best shorts around I've been buying these shorts for the last ten years. All the pockets are perfect for fishing on the bay, or keeping your stuff together on a casual day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shorts I have 2 pairs of these shorts and I wear them for all different purposes, around, hiking fishing, and they always hold up to everything. I'm a big Columbia fan in all of their products, great gear.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from material is a bit on the thin side Ordering online from Columbia was not a great deal. I ordered 2 pairs of Half Moon shorts and one pair Brewha shorts of the same size. The Brewha shorts did fit perfect but the Half Moon shorts, even at the same size, did not fit. Your measurements come in medium and large, etc, though a better way other do is by inches. My size would be 36" and when ordered like that, they would fit. So I returned 2 pairs of Half Moon shorts for credit, paying return shipment of $ 10.00. Now, instead of $40.00 for a pair of shorts, I wound up paying $70!! I love the Brewha shorts and may order more of these if I can find them at a another site, maybe where shipping is free!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Shorts are a perfect fit I was looking for a pair of hiking shorts that were fitted and functional and found them at Columbia.
Date published: 2011-12-30
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazingly comfortable and durable I got 2 pairs 2 summers ago, and I noticed Columbia has slightly changed them. Anyway, these shorts are extremely comfy, especially after you wear them for a long time and they get soft. I noticed that when it tears, it doesnt really tear anymore after the incident. However, if these shorts get wet they stay wet, unless your not wearing underwear-BUT you can see right through them when they are wet. I found that out at a bad time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The New Half Moon and Ode to the Old One. These are apparently the closest thing to what I've been wearing for tennis shorts from Columbia that is currently available. I was very disappointed : 1st, with the closure which used to be one simple sturdy button (which is not even slightly loosening as the pants themselves are ragged from so much use) but is now replaced with a Velcro square with a newly sewn in Velcro belt (which must be fastened as it is threaded through the belt loop ?!). 2ndly, the 2 outer front pockets on the old pants had one central Velcro closure in the center of the flap (which was brilliantly easier to open and close) now have two Velcro fasteners on each end of the top flap (like everybody else's design). 3rd, while there is still a long pocket to the bottom of each front leg which easily holds, and provides access to 2 - 3 tennis balls, there used to be an almost secret, normal hand-sized inner pocket, with a vertical opening along the side seams, which afforded a convenient place to keep keys, change, or anything that you didn't want to fish out from the bottom of the pockets at your knees; and that most useful feature is gone and forgotten here. Also gone is a hard plastic loop which hung from the right front belt loop where I would clip a cellphone or car keys when just walking around. On the bright side of the new Half Moon design, there is a more sturdy- seeming fabric, (which yet may not be as cool as the original for tennis in the hot sun). There are 2 new, easier- access back pockets (with ONE central Velcro closure in the ANGLED openings!), and there are see-through fishnet front patches on the outer pockets,(in case I forget what I put on there?). So, I used to love them, but I only hope its not all over now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the fit This is the 2nd pair of these. I ordered them while still available. Hard to ever find a pair I like this well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect shorts I already had a pair of these. They are my favorite shorts and had to get some more. I wear them all the time for everything from casual wear to camping and roughing it. My son came to visit and he had the same shorts -- his favorites, too! He had bought three pair!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The BEST!!! I have now had a summer in these shorts. Columbia deserves a big pat on the back for this well-thought out pair of shorts. # Velcro instead of buttons...actually works great on the front belt #Self-belt, but yes, there are belt loops, too. #Useful pockets. The mesh front isn't something I care for, but the others are nspot-on. #Wide legs and SHORT!! Mid-thigh, wide cut for action, be it sailing, rock climbing, whatever. #They dry fast. I can't imagine asking any more from a pair of shorts. I bought two pair and lived in them all summer. They still look new.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Columbia wins an "A "! I hope the Half-Moon shorts will be a staple for Coumbia in the future. I bought my husband one pair the summer of 2010, went back to Belk to get another pair and all were gone. Thought they would have them this summer, since they carry Columbia. No luck! Thank goodness for shopping with you online. I was able to get the exact product in the sage color. Please keep these in stock. Sincerely, Lee

Rated 1 out of 5 by from From good quality to junk! I have three pair of Colombia shorts that I wear often. I loved them , so I ordered three more pair. I thought that they would be of the same quality as my old favorites. They were not! The material was thin and cheap. The fit was terrible. I will not be ordering Colombia clothing again.
