Men’s Powder Keg™ Down Jacket is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 34.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality Beautiful phoenix blue jacket made with high quality materials inside and out. Has omni-tech feature that I just can't do without now. Columbia jackets are the best because they have that. Real light-weight and warm. Lots of pockets and the left arm ticket holder is a real nice and convenient feature to have. All the pockets zip up seamlessly and the jacket keeps me dry and warm. I can't recommend this one enough. Real sharp design all throughout.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Medium Weight Jacket I can wait to test this jacket out next winter, bought it during off-season sale. However, I did put it on and tried out all its functions. This jacket had everything I wanted, a pocket on the left hand for lift tickets, underarm vents, helmet hood, secure internal pockets and a large internal pocket for gloves or googles. The size and fit is right, purchased a large and I am 5' 10'' around 210 lbs. Extremely comfortable, the comfort cuff were a nice surprise, nice soft feeling around my wrist. Will see how it hold up during the winter. It is roomy enough to wear a vest or thin sweater on extremely cold days if needed. The jacket has a good weight and a solid feel to it. I run warm so the 700 insulate is perfect for me on cold days. I think the length is perfect, someone mentioned that it was a bit long but I think the length will be perfect for skiing and snowboarding this winter. The jacket is well crafted and the Omni heat feature is wonderful (had other shirts with this feature, love it). The underarm zippers were a bit difficult to undo but I like that there is mesh to keep the snow out. Overall, I think this is a great purchase, can't wait to try it out this winter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powder Keg Down Jacket Bought this to replace my 15 year old Columbia Jacket. The jacket looks great, fits well, and is relatively lightweight for an insulated jacket. I am 6' 170 lbs and ordered a large. I love the many high tech features like the omni-tech, pass pockets and sleeve liners. Can't wait to try it next season!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Cool Coat This jacket has everything. Style, function, and warmth. The down and the reflective inner lining combine to form a lightweight barrier against the elements.I would highly recommend this jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cannot be happier For aa while a was looking to replace my old bomber ski jacket. I finally found the one that fits all the qualities I had in the old one. Lots of pockets with zippers. The pockets are strategically positioned that one can put every item and then reach then with extreme facility. The adjustable cuffs allow one to close it comfortable at the wrist without looking like it is somebody else jacket and finally it really keep you warm without being a bulky garment to do the warming Carlos

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Power Keg Warmth Jacket is amazingly warm and feels light weight. Quality ONLY got a 4 due to difficulty starting the zipper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Powder Kek Down Jacket is Incredibly warm and functional The Men's Powder Keg Down Jacket was a great choice. It fits as well as I had hoped. It's incredibly warm, breathable, and waterproof too. Everyone tells me it's a fantastic ski jacket, but I do not ski. I bought it because it is warm, waterproof, and stylish and would highly recommend this jacket to anyone who ventures outdoors in all types of cold weather, but prefers to stay warm, dry, and comfortable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable I bought this coat to replace my Lands End (LE) Down/Gortex-type shell coat to ride my motorcycle in the winter. Unfortunately, this Powder Keg is not near as warm as my LE; but it's a really good coat for typical cold weather needs. It's a very comfortable coat with such hidden zippers I initially thought I accidentally bought a coat without pockets. I like the Powder Keg and will keep it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice ski jacket This is a nice ski jacket. It is fairly light weight but still keeps me warm during the cold days.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Full featured attractive jacket Very stylish coat with all of the features I was looking for (i.e. waterproof, light insulation, lots of pockets, helmet compatible hood, etc.). The coat was a bit longer than I expected. Not bad, just longer than my current Columbia ski coat. The double zipper took a moment to fiddle with before it was seated properly. I assume that this will become easier to use with more use. The zipper was the only reason I did not rate this Excellent on both Quality and Function. This was a really nice coat, but I found myself in-between sizes. 5' 11" 200 pounds, 42 regular suits. The Medium was a too snug and the Large was a bit too roomy for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very warm, hood a little too loose. I purchased this for my son in North Dakota. It keeps him warm enough, but the hood is a little too loose. Even when tightening it, the hood does not protect around his ears. When he wears it with a cap underneath, it is perfect. It is a very nice looking coat and a great fit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Could have been great I really wanted to love this jacket but a few things stopped that from happening. 1.only omni heat insulation in arms no down, so your arms will get cold with out good base and strong mid. 2.the bottom hangs to low for a ski jacket, more in line with a restrictive parka. While I will be keeping this jacket and does look stylish, just annoyed with paying this much when it has obvious oversights.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really nice jacket! So this jacket is replacing my 15yr old Columbia ski jacket. So much more lightweight, warmer and functional than my older jacket (which is what you'd expect!). Got a great deal on the jacket with my membership points and discounts. Great jacket! Hoping I can get 15yrs out of this jacket also.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great jacket Overall this is a great high quality jacket. I agree with the other reviewers that the main problem is that the front zipper is sometimes tedious to zip up. You almost always have to use both hands to start the zipping, otherwise the zipping is not aligned. Other jackets never had this annoyance, but if it withstands water as advertised then maybe it's worth the hassle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Waterproof warmth This jacket is more of a parka than an athletic ski jacket. It’s quite long and will impede your ability to squat or bend over. The mid section isn’t flattering and makes your stomach look fat. However, if you can get over those small gripes this is a great parka style coat. Super warm with great elements in the wrist cuffs, 700 down, snow skirt, etc. if you’re looking for a go anywhere parka, this is it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Jacket Bought this jacket for a snowboarding trip this year and I was pleased at paying that bit extra over the Lost Peak jacket. The jacket felt a bit heavier than ones I’ve used previously but the quality was certainly there when compared to those. It had all the features I was looking for – Goggle pocket, adjustable powder skirt, cuffs & a hood that fit over the helmet. It ranged from 8 – 30 degrees whilst I was there, on the colder days I wore a base layer & a thin mid layer and it was perfect, on the warmer ones just the base layer. I'm 5'9" and the Medium fit perfectly. Someone commented that it was too long for a ski jacket – but I found it perfect for boarding. The only slight problem I had was with the external zip pockets & armpit coolers, I found them a little difficult, but the main zip was fine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, but could've been better This is a great jacket, but I hate that the front zipper isn't weatherproof. Under the arms it is, and the ski pocket, but I feel like this was a huge oversight. Also, I wish you could unhook the powder skirt. Previous jackets had a zipper that allowed you to do this, but I feel like this was a way to cut corners... Produce a jacket cheaper and keep the cost of the jacket high (maximize profits). Kind of disappointed in Columbia here lately. They remind of Sony in the early 2000's; you're buying the brand name, instead of buying a premium product. Still a good jacket, just thankful I got it on sale.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great jacket with limitations I tested the Powder Keg jacket in temps in the low single digits. The jacket is very wind proof and keeps you warm. The limitation is that the arms have little to no down, only the Omni Heat fabric. Doing any activity the arms stay warm, but sitting watching an outdoor hockey game, my arms got cold.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally warmth As a coach, I am out in some ridiculous conditions and I really needed a warm coat. I always had a down jacket, but they went out of style or the look like trash bags filled with lumpy material. First day I got this jacket, I was out on the slopes in 12 degree temperature with a nice breeze and I was toasty. It was great!! Seriously, this is probably the best ski jacket coat I have bought since the early eighties.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not very waterproof This jacket fit great and was warm. The zipper is far from good. Hard to zip up. The jacket isn't very waterproof. Water absorbs into the shell, doesn't repell off. The chest pocket isn't waterproof at all. Pulled my phone out while skiing and it was soaked. I do not recommend this jacket for skiing. I will be taking it back for Gore-Tex. I expected a lot more for a Columbia Titanium at this price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from H20son I have been a rock solid fan of the Columbia Titanium ski jacket that I bought about 15 years ago. I finally opted for a lighter weight new version, the men’s Powder Keg Down Jacket. It has all the fit and features I liked in the older version with much less weight. Completely satisfied with the purchase (but I’m keeping my old friend in reserve).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best ski coat ever owned Purchased coat for the up coming New England ski season. First time purchasing anything from Columbia as they came recommended from a friend as quality and warmth. I ordered on line and it arrived in time prior to Christmas as I planned to ski during the holiday break. I feel the coat is true to size, not bulky or heavy its very comfortable, has ample pockets with one goggle pocket too. Some Very cold Canadian air moved into New England during the week with temps dropping to 0-5 degree. The weather was not going to stop me from skiing so I decided to put the coat to the test at Cannon mountain in NH, New Englanders know this mountain as being very cold and windy. The day I skied it started out at -16 and warmed to around -8 with wind chill -23 so this was true test. I could not have been warmer and happier, I wore less under layers than I normally would have with my previous name brand coat, no need for heavy sweatshirt only needed 4 thin layers of cold gear longsleave shirts. The warmth allowed me to ski most of the day. I highly recommend this coat for skiers or anyone that needs to deal with cold, snowy winters.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Long for a Ski Jacket I'm 5'9" and the Medium fit perfectly, except the length. The torso comes to bottom of butt, which is very long for a ski jacket. Too bad, had to return. Build and materials quality is excellent. Hope Columbia reads this and shortens torso length by 2-3 inches.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything I wanted in a Ski Jacket and more I looked at a number of different jackets in different styles. Even though my last two Columbia Jackets were Interchange, I always found them to be a bit bulky, so I was looking for something more flexible. This fit the bill perfectly. It seems almost lightweight but it is plenty toasty. Freedom of movement like I've never had in such a warm jacket. All the tech features I wanted were there too: Pit Zips, 2 way front zip, pass pocket on the sleeve, powder skirt, removable hood, big enough for my helmet, plus a tough canvas material where you need it. If I had anything bad to say: The two-way zip can be a bit of a pain to get seated right so you can zip up, and no waistline draw cord to Wasp-waist the jacket (but who makes that anymore). Minor knocks for a really awesome jacket. if you buy this, you will not be sorry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Function and Style in one Light weight, looking sharp, great materials and nice fit. I'm always cold in winter, this coat keeps me very warm. Very happy with the purchase!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Issues with zippers and hood - way over priced I anxiously waited two weeks for the coat to arrive and when it did I immediately tried it on. It was slightly large for an XL but this could be an advantage with a bulky sweater or sweatshirt. When I tried to zip up the front zipper it did not seat properly in the bottom receptor and I had to take the coat off to get it seated sufficiently to close, even after working it several times it's still a struggle. The side pocket zippers are like a blind zipper (the zipper length is not exposed) which is fine but only a cord is provided no metal or plastic to guide the zipper action, it makes for an awkward pull on the zipper which is annoying and may lead to problems in time. Also the hood is way oversized and can not be worn with out a cap or helmet as it falls in your face. On the plus side the jacket feels exceptionally warm and is stylish. But for $399.00 I would expect better quality and some of the obvious flaws to have been worked out.
