Men’s Ptarmigan™ II Jacket is rated out of 5 by 8.
Rated 4 out of 5 by BirdHunter from Nice Jacket Good jacket so far, will see how it performs this winter when the ptarmigan hunting really heats up. Gamebag is easy to deposit birds into, although I agree with other reviewers that fleece lined hand warmer pockets would be ideal. Would also like to see more magnetized pocket flaps than velcro, easier to use in colder temps with gloves. I'm a smaller guy, 5'6" 150lbs and the small jacket, like most items I've used from Columbia, seem to run large for me. Especially the sleeves on this jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Muskrat from Front pockets? Guys, These jackets last for years....in all kinds of weather and mostly cold. My fingers will not get much of a break when needed. There should be small vest pockets above the shell bags to allow the hunter to slip his hands into in cold, wet weather. ????

Rated 4 out of 5 by Warren from So far so good Have only had this coat in the field once so far; no rain and fair conditions so can't comment on water resistance. Overall though the coat performed very well. Pit-zips are a real plus; size, fit and function are dead on. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the lack of hand warmer pockets. Trade-off for everything else this coat does well though over shadows that one flaw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Candyman from Ptarmigan II Jackets A Christmas gift for my son. I know he will love it, but he will not have tried it on until Dec 25. It was on the top of his wish list...so I know he wanted it and has worn similar Columbia gearm hunting pheasant earlier this year in So Dakota.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LowCountryCharters from Tough fabric, should last for years Was really surprised to see how tough the fabrics used in this jacket appear to be. Briars and brush encountered quail hunting will put this jacket to the test but I think it will come out a winner. Light weight and cut well. Fits great

Rated 4 out of 5 by BuffaloTex from nice jacket for upland game wore this jacket for a 3-day pheasant hunt in SD last week. mornings were very cold, so i wore a liner underneath - not bulky feeling at all, and i stayed warm. the collar zips up nicely, and it was nice to have on cold, windy mornings. jacket by itself was fine, too. it would be nice to have hand pockets, but it is not a deal breaker. i found shell pockets to be perfectly adequate - with gloves and without.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Upland1 from Ptarmagin II I have gone through a lot of bird hunting coats and this one too may be returned. Upside: nicely constructed, great bird bag access, relatively light weight, real collar, water bottle compartments, hopefully highly water resistant and hook and loop cuff closure. Downside: single front closure zipper, no shell loops and most important no upper hand pockets. Why not a double front close zipper? Trying to get into pockets on a cold wet day with gloves on to extract shells is a pain. Shells in pockets are bunched together in a clump instead of balanced throughout the coat. Lack of upper hand pockets makes carrying a break-open shotgun much more difficult. The trim on the coat makes it look as if someone thought about upper pockets but no such luck.
