Rated 5 out of 5 by Whymark from Columbia Shirt I've been mountaineering and hiking for over 40 years now. I have tried all the other expense name brands and they just do not compare to Columbia Product. I have completely changed may wardrobe to Columbia with no regrets. I tell my climbing/Hiking partners Dare to be Different! Columbia should open a store here in Red Deer and I'll be first to apply. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by DKing23 from Great company but wrong color I ordered the Dark Mountain Plaid and when I received it, it was not the color on the website. It is more yellow and orange than in the picture. But I was able to call into Columbia and they were very good at handling the situation and allowing me to return the item. I ordered it again thinking they sent me the wrong item but it was the same color, so I called back and was able to return it again. Very good company to deal with but the color is wrong on the site.

Rated 3 out of 5 by dbore from Average shirt - not comfortable fabric I liked the fit, but material wasn't that comfortable against my skin. It actually feel like it didn't breath well despite being toted as something that would breath well - with all it's vents and whatnot. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by Haze from Awesome shirt. Too long. Another awesome shirt by Columbia. I love their gear, and have a LOT. But their tops are often way too long. I'm 5'11", 215, athletic build. I buy a L or Xl. However, almost all of them are way too long. On EVERYBODY. I see it all the time- guys wearing Columbia gear that hangs way too low. I'm all for the room, as many Columbia buyers are big active guys. And thanks for that. But we don't need the height. Either make a "Tall" or even a "Short" so us average height guys (the majority) aren't wearing Columbia night gowns!

Rated 5 out of 5 by MattAZ from Almost Perfect AZ shirt Love this shirt for AZ winters. Super breathable to stay dry. Long sleeve for cool mornings sleeves roll up easily once it gets warmer. Light enough to use as a summer sun protection shirt as well. Only real knock is sleeves are at least 1 to 1.5 inches too long and I'm 6'2 with long arms

Rated 4 out of 5 by KeithNS from Mostly great I really like this shirt and just have one complaint - I ordered the large and the body of the shirt fits quite well but the sleeves are about 3 inches too long. This isn't a huge problem as I can roll the sleeves up and use the tabs which work great. Otherwise the shirt looks and feels excellent - the colour seems brighter and fresher in person and it keeps me cool and dry on warmer days/nights. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by MrBiem from Stylish Long Sleeve Shirt I've had this shirt for two seasons and I must say it is very comfortable and stylish. It has lived up to its expectations. I wear mine daily indoors and outdoors. On those sunny days with a chilly breeze it performs well. It's also a nice evening shirt that can be worn casually on a night out. It is ventilated in the back and wicks moisture very fast. I love how it has tab holders for when you need to roll up the sleeve to get down and dirty. I am 5'7" and 168lbs with an athletic build. The Small fits me well but I can see why they run big on some people. The only drawback is the shirt can get snagged easily and not as rugged. It also tends to pill after a few wash cycle. That is the only reason why I'm giving it a 4 Star.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Thien from Girlfriend loves the shirt It's really nice looking and the small fits me really well -- 5'10", 155 lbs, semi-athletic build. The one nit is that the waist could be slightly smaller for someone with a size 31 waist. I can't comment on long term quality but so far it is perfect for going to work, as a travel shirt, or getting outdoors.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Sleuth from Poor Fit in Two Sizes This seemed to be just what I was looking for for hot weather travel. Nice fabric, good details and stylish, better than the others out there. However, I am average size and normally wear a Large (17/34 dress shirt), but this Large was uncomfortably tight across the shoulders and upper back. When I put it on, my wife immediately said, "It's too small." So I sent it back for the XL - which was cavernous, like wearing a tent. So I am out two return shipping costs because this product is not sized properly. A pity because I liked it otherwise.

Rated 4 out of 5 by westcoastD from Not for fit people This shirt looks and feels great. Its well designed other than the fit - the waist area is ridiculously large. Fits baggy like an untailored dress shirt.

Rated 3 out of 5 by trav1804 from Careful... I own a lot of Columbia products (my wife says many more than any one person should) and understand the sizing/fit of their products pretty well... or so I thought. For reference, I wear XL in the Columbia Bahama LS Shirt which fits pretty loose (as described by "Relaxed" in the fit guide). I also wear XL in Columbia Tamiami LS Shirt which fits a little better as it's more of a tailored fit (as described by "Modern Classic" in the fit guide). Seeing the Silver Ridge LS Shirt was labeled as "Modern Classic" I assumed it would be cut and fit the same as my Tamiami LS Shirts... The XL Silver Ridge LS Shirt was suffocating. It felt like I was squeezing into a L "Active" or "Performance" cut. So small I couldn't button all the buttons. I was perplexed to say the least. I will say the quality and style live up to the Columbia mark and I liked the shirts so much I reordered up-sizing to XXL (standard) hoping to find the right fit. The material and weave of the fabric on these shirts feels amazing and the style is exactly what I'm looking for everyday wear so I pray simply up-sizing resolves my issue. My concern here is the fit guide and labeling... This shirt should definitely NOT be labeled as "Modern Classic". It was literally cut so small I double checked the tags to see if I'd received L's by mistake... Still love ya Columbia! Times like this would be nice for free return shipping. #FreeTheReturns

Rated 5 out of 5 by Speargishingguide from Good casual comfort I dont use these shirst outdoors much so I cant comment on that. Id assume if you work in cooler climates as a spring/summer/fall hiking guide or something similar these would look professional and function well. Im giving it the benefit of the doubt with a 5 in function. I use these all the time for my daily non boat related needs. They are great for our cooler fall days here in north FL as they are smidge thicker, and hold in slightly more warmth, than a PFG shirt would. Also worth noting, They dont seem to wrinkle much if at all! Just throw it on and it looks great! I like the different colors of the shirt I have bought as well. No complaints.

Rated 1 out of 5 by HHam52 from Men's silver ridge plaid shirt Great looking shirt and so looking forward to wearing it, however; the size is not true. I normally wear 2XL in most brands but not in this style shirt. Very snug fit in chest and arms. I had to return it and will reorder larger size...if Columbia has larger sizes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jordanicolas from The best shirt in the world hands down! I usually don't write reviews but I had to on this one. This shirt had became my staple specially during the summer, I have them in almost all colors and patterns. I don't wear anything else during warm weather. The versatility of this shirt is unbelievable you can go to the office, take a hike, work on the yard outside, you name it. You don't have to iron it which I love and the fabric its wonderfully comfortable and breathable. The shirts does run large, I'm usually large on shirts (22" pit to pit) but on this one I had to go with a medium. I do wish Columbia would make a version of this shirt without the front pockets one day. I love Columbia, they make one of the most comfortable and practical clothes out there.

Rated 4 out of 5 by JRTN from Great Shirt This is a great shirt -- I wear these shirts very often. Interestingly, not all Silver Ridge shirts are made from the same material. This version (the plaid) is actually my favorite, because it does not have a basketweave texture on the inside -- so it is not likely to pull or catch on something. The traditional Silver Ridge (i.e. non-plaid), features a basketweave texture on the inside of the shirt which does wear faster and catch on things, such as if you have a belt with sharp edges or hook and loop fasteners. Silver Ridge shirts do have odd sizing. I am typically an L in 95% of shirts, but the M fits me perfectly, and the L is way too large. It seems to me that there is an unnaturally large jump in size between the M and L.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AppleJackson from Better than expected All I was hoping for was a decent long sleeve shirt to use on chili morning and warm day hikes in the ADKs. After tackling a couple high peaks with a 30 lb pack this week, I LOVE this shirt. Sweat drenched on the ascent, this shirt dried almost instantly! It was also super comfortable the entire trip (not to mention stylish enough for the office). For size reference.. I'm 6' 190lbs and Med. fit perfect. Definitely my new go-to adventure shirt!

Rated 5 out of 5 by RangerScott from Tough, good looking, comfortable I am a field scientist that goes all over the country. I own about 7 of these shirts. I wear them nearly everyday to the office, out and about, hiking, camping, etc. I also wear them during my challenging field work that ranges from weeks in the southwest, floating rivers, colder northern climates, etc. Basically throughout the US. I took two on a 2 week trip both floating and hiking along the Colorado River and they don't look any worse for the wear. Amazing shirt in my opinion.

Rated 3 out of 5 by WildMountainBeach from Wanted to like. Bad Cut. Great looking shirt, but the cut is terrible. It's way too long. I'm a normal sized dude, not quite 6fr and 200lbs, and a Large was way too long. It probably would have been fine if you plan on tucking in your shirt, but this really isn't a shirt you would tuck in a lot. Wish it would've fit better.

Rated 4 out of 5 by wets75 from Multifinctional Shirt This is the third or fourth Silver Ridge shirt I have and always enjoy the comfort and style of the shirts. They are not for the "die hard" outdoors activities but you can feel free to do most camping or casual activities with the shirt, while still looking nice if just going out on the town.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BR173 from Excellent shirts! About Me - I'm 6'3, 230, and spend a great deal of time outside conducting activities that have been known to shred clothes. Overview - The Silver Ridge series are my go to shirts regardless of weather of occasion...they wick sweat in the summer, provide an additional layer in the winter, and dress up when I'm cleaned up. Sizing - I wear an XL...plenty of freedom of movement, sleeves are the perfect length for my long arms. Durability - Outstanding, built to last. Weather hiking, camping, hunting, or shooting these things hold up to abuse. Bottom Line - Great shirts. V/r - BR

Rated 5 out of 5 by KernLyfe from Great Shirt! I live in the San Joaquin valley and it gets hot here, so I went looking for a more functional shirt to cope with the heat. This shirt is awesome! Even kept me cool on some off road trips. Washes fine (follow directions) and I ironed it on low heat and it looks great. When ironing, be sure to watch out for the technical places of the shirt that allow airflow. Don't want to snag them on the iron, but it's really not hard to iron, just be smart.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RJones29 from It's a classic for a reason I've got a similar Columbia shirt - nylon, fast dry -- I bought in 2000 for a trip to Europe and I still use it on way back country outings. It's a little crumpled now and slightly faded, but it's never lost a button. This new one is cut with a little more style and the pattern, fossil small plaid, makes it a good all-around shirt you can wear in town or country. I like the big pockets and ability to roll up the sleeves. The perfect travel shirt because you can wash it out in the sink, hang it up and it will dry in record time. Never put in a hot dryer, though, or I surmise it would wrinkle up badly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by steve3618 from Winkly Mess I was initially real excited to purchase this shirt from Columbia due to it's sun protection capabilities. Living in Arizona demands protection from the sun when outside for any length of time. Because I work outside, I had planned to purchase a shirt in every color, but wanted to order two initially to check the sizing. Unfortunately, this shirt looks like it was balled up in your hamper for weeks at a time. I was unable to wear this shirt due to the extreme wrinkles. Very disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JamCooler from Recommend for sharp-looking everyday wear Great shirt, comfortable and resilient. It fits a little tighter and the material is softer than the regular (non-plaid) Silver Ridge long sleeve, both qualities that I like. The chest pockets are subtle and the shirt doesn't scream Columbia the way many of their other items do. Highly recommend. I'm 5'10" 180lbs with broad shoulders and the Small fits perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nahnie from My Son-In -Law's Favorite Shirt I was delighted to find this casual shirt on-line. Last September, I was a guest at my daughter and her husband's home for three days, which gave me the perfect chance to scope out some super Christmas gift ideas. Brad even likes to wear his favorite Columbia shirt to weddings. It looks that good. He loves the wrinkle free, wicking fabric and especially likes the vents. I can't wait to see his face when he opens the box with not one, but two of his favorite shirts.

Rated 4 out of 5 by SDPoacher from Stylish, comfortable, lightweight fabric I love this shirt and have it in many colors. Its lightweight, comfortable and I can wear it while guiding clients or when going out with my wife. A couple drawbacks are the lightweight material has a tendency to catch on branches and pull threads and putting the shirt in the dryer tended to make the shirt more susceptible to snags. It fit awesome for my body though. I'm 5'10, with wide shoulders and a 34 waist. I tend to buy XL because of the shoulders, but this time, the shirt didn't feel too baggy at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by GearJunky from A Shirt with Style Silver Ridge. Finally a shirt with some new styling points. The designer of this shirt did not follow the same old boring and predictable pattern that every other manufacturer seems to follow when making men’s shirts (boring). There are a number of unique styling touches from the cuffs, to the pockets, to the pattern of the way this shirt is cut and sewn together. Subtle, but noticeable. Fit is excellent and a very nice range of colors and patterns. Columbia, give this designer an award for doing something new and interesting!

Rated 2 out of 5 by GFish from Disappointed Three years ago, I purchased three Columbia Platinum shirts for a trip to Egypt. I've worn them constantly since, as I like their look, comfort in hot weather, and versatility with the adjustable sleeves. The two new Silver Ridge shirts I just bought fall far show of these original purchases. The medium size fits slightly tight in the shoulders (and I weigh only 142 lb.), while the sleeves are too long. Most objectionable to me is the fact that the second button is 4" from the collar button, unlike the 2.5" spacing on the Platinum. This causes the collar to sag open, creating an unkept look. I currently have the shirts at a seamstress to attach a snap or velcro to close this gap. Other problems are the curved sleeve cuffs and the long tab attached to the back of the collar. Can't figure out what purpose these features are supposed to serve, but they both create problems. In short, I won't buy another of your shirts, unless they return to a design like the Platinum.

Rated 4 out of 5 by CurlyQ from Great for long days in the sun I first purchased this shirt thinking it would be a great desert shirt. Unfortunately, I haven't had time to test try it out in one. Instead I have worn it on numerous day hikes and casually around town. I have found that it wicks moister away very nicely and drys nice and fast if wet. The vents are also nice because unlike other vented shirts I own the vents are less noticeable, giving the shirt a more polished look. My only concern is the material its made from though soft and comfortable against my skin may not be as durable as I like in the long run. Especially if you use it for rock climbing or hiking through brush.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RiverGoddess from Great shirt I am a river guide in Moab, UT and in Idaho. Ths shirt is great for a quick cover up of the wind picks up or for sun protection. I am a woman and like these men's shirts because of the length, especially in the sleeves (I'm 6' , 34" arm). The colors are bold and neat looking. The shirt dries quickly and has enough room in the shoulders so rowing and lifting are not a problem, even with a PFD.
