Men’s Mountain Masochist™ III Shoe is rated out of 5 by 15.
Rated 3 out of 5 by mischmat from Tad Small Fit me a half size too small vs other montrail shoes I've had, heal didn't feel good either, (mayabe the size caused it). Returning and going to go with the Coldorado II, which look like the old fluid flex. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by GLupNordt from Another winner from Columbia footwear I've been impressed with Columbia footwear, enjoying their casual hikers and big winter boots. So when I needed a trail runner, I started here. This shoe has the tread to handle muddy, slippery surfaces, the flexibility to handle rocks and other hard surfaces, and the (light) weight to be worn for 26.2 miles of tough trail. Once again, I'm impressed with Columbia footwear.

Rated 1 out of 5 by grbbenny from Footbox Narrower? I have used the Mountain Masochist I and II with great success over the years. I finally wore out my last pair and ordered a pair of the Mountain Masochist III in the same size as my previous pair of II. I was sad to discover that, for whatever reason, the III seems much narrower than the II - they were simply too narrow to wear. Very sad about this as I love this shoe. Rated 5 out of 5 by Iceberg from Columbia takes care of its customers... Long story shorty I sent a winter coat in for a warranty claim. They couldn't fix so they gave me a credit. I got a new jacket and these Monotrail 3 shoes. I wore them for the first time last night and my feet have found a new shoe home. I spend my day on my feet and these are by far the most comfortable and form fitting shoes I have ever owned. I liked them so much that I just got done ordering a second pair. Man oh man... my feet feel great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JeremyI from Columbia "GO" Every Columbia product purchased, from gloves to shoes has been of excellent standard, comfort and affordability. With three teenagers who can decimate clothing, your products stand the test of time. The overall level of comfort has kept my family coming back for more and will continue well into the future. Your pricing is well within the main steam of your competitors, but I find your products better and more inline with the flavors of our family. Thank you so much "Columbia" Jeremy and family (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 3 out of 5 by ActiveTim from heel rub problems with this version This was my 3rd pair of Mountain Masochist in 4-5 years. For whatever reason, on this version I am having a really dificult time with the upper portion of the heel cup digging in. It could totally be my personal problem, fit, you name it...but I thought I would share. That said, I like the brand so Im back on line to give another model the whirl.

Rated 5 out of 5 by John58 from Mountain Masochist The best shoe out there for wide feet - I have been using them exclusively for ten years of ultra running. The last purchase was with the added Columbia logo - still a great shoe but now far too expensive (noting that a "sale" started a month after I online purchased - very frustrating). Rated 2 out of 5 by Toolbag from Different Montrail I've been using Montrail running shoes for years. These are my first since Columbia bought them. In short, I returned the Columbia Montrails as they didn't fit in the tow box, the materials appeared downgraded and the shoe was clunky. My past montrails were sleek, light, high quality with a toe box shifted medically. This appears to be the knockoff I feared following the Columbia purchase of Montrail. These shoes are probably ok but they are not what I've always gotten from Montrail. To Columbia's credit, full refund was promptly provided.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Duethataway from Sad changes I went through 2 pairs of the original Montrail Mountain Masochist II with Outdry in 6 almost 7 years. I wore them regularly (3 days a week at least) and hiked a couple of hundred miles in each pair through all sorts of terrain. The ultralight weight, waterproofing, comfort/fit, and durability had me 10% committed to the shoe. I only replaced them because the vibram rubber sole wore down and started to delaminate slightly. Since Montrail was brought into Columbia's product line, a perfectly good shoe has been so degraded to make it worthless. The Outdry is not even an option now which almost made me not buy the new model, but being a dedicated Montrail wearer I decided to give the new model a try. I got the new model in February, and I have worn them daily because the weight and fit and support are great, especially for my narrow foot and recovery from plantar fasciitis. However, the cloth inside the heel along the Achilles tendon ridge is torn on both shoes, and I have only been on two hikes with a 35 lb pack on. I don't abuse shoes, and am lightweight, so why the heck did the material wear through so quickly? The model is so weak compared to the original MMIIwithOutdry (no waterproofing, quickly degrading cloth) that I am now shopping around for a new shoe to love. If you have $125 to burn a couple of times a year, buy this shoe. Otherwise, go for another shoe, something as durable as it is light and well-fitted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DrBobSie from My Favorite Shoe I have 7 pairs of Montrail shoes in my house. One is in the box. Two pair are used for suburban walking. Four pair have been used extensively and are now used for lawn and garden work. One pair is used for going-to-the-store use. Only one pair is not the Mountain Masochist. I am very found of this shoe, and it has served me well for 8 or 10 years. I hope that Columbia doesn't mess with this design. I did like the MM II better than the MM III.
