Rated 3 out of 5 by Ashley379 from Stylish and Comfy - Not As Warm As Expected I bought this coat a couple months ago. I live in Minnesota where our winters get pretty cold (-10/-20 degrees and colder). This coat is great for weather around 30 degrees and above, but I was actually cold when I wore this coat in below zero weather if I didn't layer it with a long-sleeve shirt and two sweaters. Also, the lining started coming open inside the coat after only 2 weeks, and feathers are coming out. I love it because it is stylish, but I will still need to buy a coat next year for those really cold December-February winter days! If you're living in Colorado or New York, this coat is great. If you're in Minnesota/Wisconsin, you will freeze. I sized up one full size to allow for layering, which has worked great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by NotfrozenND from Great coat! Perfect coat for cold winter days, only wish hood had a way to tighten it to keep cold off. Warm enough for cold northern North Dakota winter days. Upper arm holes seem a bit small.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ClaireST from Runs small but very comfy! I brought this coat about three weeks ago. It took 7 days to get to me. I paid about 200 at the time so I don't understand why I had to pay for shipping. And it didn't even come in a box but one of those ups grey shipping bags. Anyway, I brought the last coat in a size 3x. I am a XL/1X but I really needed a coat in this Boston weather and I loved the look of this coat. So I purchased the 3X knowing it would fit like a 2x because I heard that it runs small. And let me tell you, it does. This 3X, though it look gigantic on me, fits perfectly. Just imagine if I were to by a 1x or an XL. The coat is warm and very comfortable. It's like I am wrapped around a comforter. It has three pockets, one inside and the normal two on the side. I am really utilizing the cuffs that are attached. It has a slit for your thumb. The hood is a little small, not the best, but I heard that all Columbia hoods are so small and don't stay on the head. But all in all, it is a great coat. I look like I am 100 lbs heavier but it keeps me warm and it's not restrictive.

Rated 3 out of 5 by CalitoChi from Very warm, but too big I love that this jacket is extremely warm. However, the size and fit guide is completely wrong. I got a size up due to the recommendation and this jacket is definitely not a snug fit. I'm swimming in it. But its sold out and I need a warm coat so I'm pretty much stuck with it. The shape is funny too. It's like an A line dress. It widens at the hips which allows the cold Chicago wind up the inside of the jacket. The hood is nice though.

Rated 4 out of 5 by jlaneb from Plus Size Yumminess..... I'm between 2-3X and so I ordered 3X based on reviews and my other 2X Columbia coat is a bit snug now. This is perfect, not too big not too tight. The zipper is a bit sticky - and seems cheap (plastic teeth with metal pull)...hope it doesn't break! Can't wait to wear to soccer games in Oregon & stay dry & warm! The hood is HUGE - falls over my eyes, and no way to "tighten" it but I usually wear a hat anyway. Great color and fabric. Would totally buy again!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Sujoe from Apres Arson down jacket Jacket is very warm and holds heat well in very cold weather. The sleeves could be bigger and are tight when you are wearing multiple layers underneath. I would also love it to be 6-10 inches longer. When the wind catches it, it blows right up your back.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Tvcc2 from Stylish warm but tight fit I really like this coat but it's really snug across chest and arms. I got size 2x and thought there would be some give. There is not. I'm in Illinois so there have been a few cold days so far. I can't wear a sweater but don't really need because I don't like to be to warm on train. And if I were to squeeze a sweater on I would be stuffed. I guess I better loose some pounds because 300+ dollars is to much for a coat I cannot wear. If you have a stomach, size up. On another note. This coat is very popular. I'm seeing lots of people with same coat and color. You need more colors and material that gives a little. I do recommend because it's a good looking coat. But size up. If I don't lose some pounds will be selling my coat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by chigirl79 from Best "real" Winter coat ever! I haven't purchased a real solid winter coat in many years. This year I decided to spend the money and get a great coat, new boots, etc. This coat fits well (I'm 6ft tall and overweight, admittedly) and the sleeves are long enough, there is enough room across my shoulders and it fits well in my armpits. I usually have on a t-shirt and a sweatshirt, or some other combination of layers, on underneath this and that still holds true. I was outside on a farm in the far away chicago suburbs...very windy, 7 degrees outside in at least 7 inches of snow for about 30 minutes, just standing and watching something. I was completely fine. My hands were cold despite gloves, so I ended up putting them in the pockets too. I was worried I would be too hot with the omni heat...that is true if it is over 30 degrees or so, but that's not what this coat is for!

Rated 4 out of 5 by stellak1 from Woman's Apres Ski Coat Had to order one size up b/c it was too tight in the chest. Love that it is waterproof & that it is not too hot with the special lining, especially when driving. I wish there was a drawstring with the hood & also around the bottom to keep out the cold. Annoyed that one velcro strip is already torn off after 3 wearings.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jwinmore from Wonderful Jacket for Midwest This is a very stylish yet extremely warm jacket! I bought this style so that I could wear it with professional work clothes and it looks great! It gets to negative temps and -32 windchill where I live and this jacket keeps me toasty. I usually wear an XL, ordered an XL and 1X. Found that the XL was too snug to fit sweaters and was uncomfortable to wear while driving. The 1X gives me a little more space and I plan on keeping that size. I like the dual zipper, I can adjust it while I'm driving or when I get overheated. The only thing I don't like is the additional closures are made out of velcro, rather than buttons (there are a few buttons on the bottom of the coat). The velcro is a bit tacky and it sticks to things very easily. In some reviews folks have complained about the "bell" shape from the waist to the hips. I don't notice it as a problem; if you have curves, you'll be grateful it's shaped like that. I highly recommend this jacket!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Drktall1 from I could hug MA Gert!! I am here to tell you this coat is the BOMB! I am 6'0 and trying to find something warm, to cover my hinny and that has long arms is a totally eclipse of the sun! But this is it. After reading the reviews I went up one size (which didn't thrill me), but after I got it in the mail I tried it on and was doing the Snoopy dance all over the house in it! My bulldog was laughing at me. I got hot in it and had to take it off. The Omni-heat is the best thing EVER. For a lady who is rapidly approaching 50 and is freezing all the time, this is great. The back has this nice elastic waist to gather the back of the coat. I appreciate not looking like a sack of spuds!! Husband thought it was a nice looking coat and was impressed that the arms were long enough. Now I can donate three coats out of my closet to the Veterans. Seriously, Columbia please keep making items in plus size with LONG ARMS and TORSO! The fur on the hood does zip off, but why would you want to? The only, and I mean the only down side is that the hood has no cord to pull tight. But overall this is GREAT for Portland, Oregon rains.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Oregongriz from Very warm! Bought this last year for a trip to New York and it was amazing while waking around all day in the snow. I'm usually a 2x but I sized up so I could layer and the 3x is very roomy. If you remove the fur the hood is small and won't cover your head entirely. Also the fur doesn't reach far enough around the face and neck and looks a little silly, but it does keep my face warmer (I keep it on because the hood will not fit without it but wish I could remove it because of the goofy look). Over time the comfort cuffs have stretched out and I have to tuck them back in to keep them from bunching around my hand. In a year the coat has held up great with regular wear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by WindyCityCommuter from Coat would be perfect if... I have been looking for the perfect non-puff winter coat for this unpredictable Chicago weather for a couple years. I purchased this coat on Black Friday for a great price and am very glad I did. The coat is perfect except for a couple things: 1. After reading previous reviews which recommended getting a bigger size, I purchased a 2X but the coat is to big. I am not returning it because the 1X is out of stock and there is no telling when it will be back in stock. At least I can wear a lot of layers underneath, I guess! 2. ZIPPER FAIL. I wore the coat for the first time today and the zipper is pretty flimsy. It took me several tries before I was able to zip it up. If I paid the regular price of the coat I would probably be more irritated but since I purchased at such a good price I won't complain to much. I will probably get a new zipper installed. If you are thinking about getting the coat just go for it. It is worth it even with the zipper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Renee23 from Loving it! I was looking for a longer length coat to help when spending time outdoors while watching the children in my child care class. It has kept me warm and been very functional! I was worried that the size ran a bit small. I tried on the XL and it was tight across the chest. Looking at the measurements online I was nervous that there was not much difference between the XL and the 1X. I did go with the 1X and now have the slight extra room to wear a bit bulkier items underneath without feeling that I am being strangled by the coat. I definitely recommend this coat!

Rated 5 out of 5 by brido19 from Best coat I've owned. I am absolutely in love with this gorgeous coat. I spent a lot of time researching coats that would provide the warmth I need for these cold Utah winters, and this is it. The coat is super warm and cozy but doesn't make me feel hot or sweaty. I love how long it is and it keeps my bum and upper legs nice and warm. I ordered the gray color and it's super cute. I've received a lot of compliments on it! My only con is that the arms fit just a touch tight, but that could be that my arms are a little bigger than average...? Overall, best purchase to date.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Carolrn from Moving north Coat is warm, like the style and color. Is quite snug across the shoulders but if I got it any larger the sleeves would be down to my knees. Coat makers think because you require a plus size you must have grown 6 inches in length too. Don't mind the longer length to keep my knees warm just wish the sleeves weren't so long.

Rated 5 out of 5 by scoobiewms from Nice Winter Coat I have been eyeing this since I missed it on sale last year. When it went on sale this year, I had to grab it. I love the way it fits. I am a big plus size girl and I needed a 3x and I was afraid it would be just big and bulky but it is still cut very nice to show the curves I have even if they are bigger than the average curve. Even with my 3x, I will still have room to wear thick sweaters with my coat as the weather gets colder. Thank you Columbia for offering something nice and feminine looking to the pleasantly plump ladies!! Since I live in Kansas City, it hasn't reached a real low temperature yet but I have no doubts about this coat keeping me warm. Just trying it on in the house had me toasted!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by MSMinnesota from Winter Wonder Coat I love this coat. I have a terrible time finding a down coat that is NOT black, that has long enough arms and fits a inbetween plus and regular xl. This did all I asked of it. I have to say the arms are cut snug, so layering a bunch under it will not work but I have been toasty warm without overheating. Very nice color and lots of compliments. Wish it was cut a little more generous. I looked over the size chart many times and picked best I could. maybe could have sized up but then would have been swimming in body. Oh well--still a good deal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Val6968 from FAVORITE Jacket I absolutely love this jacket! Okay, so I live in California's Bay Area so I don't need a serious winter coat but hey - when the temps dip into the 30s around here ... we Californians start to whine! Now with this jacket, I can brave those freezing [LOL] temps! And truthfully, this will be perfect for when I visit my brother in Wisconsin. I hear they REALLY have cold. Fit is great - I'm 5"4 and typically wear an 18. I purchased the 1X and it fits great. I like that the fur part of the hood can be zipped off and then the entire hood can be taken off. There is a handy inside breast pocket on the left with an earbud port. Deep pockets. The thumb things are okay - I'm not a fan so I just won't use it. I do like how the cuffs are spandex and will seal out the cold wind.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Beanktr from Worth Every Penny! I purchased this product because I wanted a warm longer coat that I could wear while walking the dogs. Other reviews indicated that the coat sizing ran small and I found that to be true as well so I was glad I ordered a size larger. A few reviews commented on the fit from the waist down being loose. I found that to be true but find it beneficial when sitting or getting into and out of a car. The coat is very warm and I normally am not able to wear it in the car unless the distance is very short. I don't know if that will continue when the really cold weather comes but with the temps around 30, it's too warm for me. I think the look of the coat is sleek and have received a lot of compliments from co-workers. The only thing I find to be a drawback is the hood. I like having the hood and I like being able to adjust it in the back but there isn't a way to tighten it around my face. If I'm walking into the wind, it blows off my head. That's the only thing I've found to be unfavorable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by DianeHe from Great coat...but here's 2 things that would make it perfect. I’ve been looking for a new coat since last year and saw this at the outlet store but they didn’t have the plus size to try on, so ordered on-line instead. Absolutely love this coat but I would recommend 2 enhancement that are kind of no brainers for a winter coat. The hood needs a synch of some sort, especially in windy weather. I agree with some of the other reviews about the bell shape that catches the wind from the waist down. Some kind of Velcro or tapering snaps, similar to the back but for the lower half of the coat, would make it more form fitting when needed. Love the hand cuffs and it’s very warm and comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SonnyAnderson from Sizing True To Size Based on all the reviews that said this jacket runs large, as a size 20ish on top, I purchased a 3x. It was enormous! I ended up buying a 1x and 2x as well for comparison. The 2x was the best fit if I were to stay the same size. I didn't find the bottom area to be overly large, as others had. It seemed proportionate to me. As I have been losing some weight, I ended up keeping the 1x. The shoulders were fine and i can move well. It is a bit tight across the bust, but not uncomfortably so. I'm hoping by the time winter is in full swing that I'll have taken a few more pounds off and the bust will be looser.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ottis from WARM WARM WARM! I live in Montana where it can get -20 degrees and so a warm coat is essential. So far I love my coat. It is very warm. We will see how well it stands up after a few washings, but right now I am very happy with this coat. It is supposed to be waterproof so that is an added plus. It does run small, so you might want to order a size bigger.

Rated 4 out of 5 by dogparkgirl3 from made me look like a bell I ordered this coat 1 size larger because the Columbia coat I already own runs small. I am 5'7" and 180#s, and the XL was a little too snug. When I got the 1X, it fit, and was very good quality and warm. The major drawback was it made me look like a big fat bell! it flares out at the waist in a most unflattering way, so I returned it. I am really disappointed; I need a really warm coat but am not willing to give up style. Maybe it is only the plus sizes that fit this way?

Rated 5 out of 5 by nysteffi from Awesome This is the 3 jacket I bought. I have now one in each color. I was lucky enough to get each one on sale, but even for the regular price I had bought them. It is very hard to find a good warm jacket for a plus size and still look good in it. This jacket really got me over the last winter. I have to wait on elevated outdoor stations on public transportation at night and it is bitter cold. The big sized hood ( removable) keeps you warm and covers and protected from the wind. The sleeves seal up on your hands and do not let the cold creep in. The length is awesome and covers up your behind and a little more. The push buttons at the back gives you the opportunity to give a little more shape to the jacket. If there is anything bad to say , its that even after hand washed the hood with the fur, it just does not comes out like it was, but every single jacket I owned I had the same problem. All in all I love the jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by boilerman from Very nice coat for the price. Very warm, fits well, nice color. Cut is true to size on top and sleeve length is perfect. My only complaint would be the way the coat is cut, the bottom bells out and gives the illusion you are bigger than you actually are. They added buttons to taper the back which helps. Still very cute coat and I would definitely recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by j292934 from Great coat for the price! I have yet to wear it in the snow, but was concerned it may be too long and too small for me as I am 5'4" and usually wear a 2x, but I like to wear sweaters underneath and a 3x was a great choice. It fits great on the chest and stomach but on the arms when you layer up can be a bit snug. The bottom of the coat does sort of feel like you are wearing a dress, but when you layer up underneath it isn't that bad. Love the pockets, but the front zipper is difficult to pull up sometimes. The fur on the hood is a lot less puffy then I was expecting, but overall great coat if you are looking in the same price range for a name brand extended size winter jacket.

To me it seemed the wind would go right underneath the coat. Pointless when that is the point of having a long coat, to cover butt and thighs. I bought a 3x and I am a 5"9" size 20 DD woman and on top portion fit great but from waist down to big. Tried on 2x at Columbia store Top portion to small.... Urgh another plus size battle ;-)

Having a full size chest it was tight. Returned it and ordered the next size. Right now it is 90 and very humid but I am looking forward to staying warm in this coat this winter. Love the flint gray color and the thumb holes to keep the sleeves tight and the wind/cold air from blowing up the arms. Stylish and warm what a combination!
