Women's Apres Arson™ Long Down Jacket is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 192.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from AMAZING!!! This is the best winter jacket ever! I can't believe it has taken me this long to write a review! I have had this jacket for three winters now and it has kept me warm every single winter, living in Michigan, this jacket is an absolute must , especially for someone like me that walks to work everyday! It is also a perfect fit, I got a medium, I am 5'3 and 140lbs. It is also still in amazing condition, just like first day I got it! Anyone looking for a jacket to trudge through tough winters, this is the one to get!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love It I can’t say enough about this coat. I live in Ohio and our winter can be brutal at times. I walk my Beagle twice a day and I needed a coat to keep me warm. This coat works. It can be a little snug with heavy clothes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good warm coat I purchased an XL based on the reviews, but I typically wear a L. This coat fits great in the shoulders but is a bit bigger around the legs than I would prefer. Wind can easily get under the coat. We have been in the -10's and windy this week and I have been very warm when out and about. This is my second winter season with this coat and I still love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My go-to winter coat Absolutely love this jacket! It is perfect for New England winters. It is so warm that I can wear a t-shirt underneath and be comfortable on most winter days, and for extra windy cold days a light sweater underneath keeps me warm. I love that weather it is snowing of freezing rain it keeps me dry, and the length is great for keeping my whole body warm. The one flaw is that the hood does not stay on very well on windy days. I have found however that if I wear a winter hat with the hood it is less likely to blow off.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from winter coat I am a size 8/10 Med shirt. I do have broad shoulders. but for a nice fit I got the xl. warmth was great, love the thumb hole on the cuff. perfect with the number of pockets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favourite. Ever. I received this coat as a gift, and I absolutely love it. It has kept me warm through some of the coldest and wettest days in Chicago. It dries quickly, keeps the wind out, and is long enough to keep my legs mostly dry in storms.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Choice Jacket I constantly receive compliments on this coat. I can go from the bar to dinner seamlessly because the coat is good for all occasions. I sized up because I thought I would need to layer underneath but there are times all I wear underneath is a t-shirt and Im still warm.Love this product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New Favorite Love this new coat!! It is long enough and I am never cold with this one. The Omni Heat is the best feature yet and I will never buy a coat with out it again. I also love the comfort cuffs ans adjustable waste line. The only thing I do not like is the velcro closers up near the neckline, because they can snag scarves that I like to wear. Overall it is still a 10!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome jacket!! Super warm jacket! I love that the faux fur can be zipped out during wet weather.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great winter coat overall This is a great winter coat. I live in Chicago where it gets extremely cold and windy during the winter/early spring season, and this coat has kept me warm throughout it all. I'm 5'2'' and about 110 lbs and have this coat in XS. It's a very snug fit and the coat goes down to my knees. The only small complaints that I have are that the double zipper is difficult to zip and that the pockets are kind of narrow and oddly shaped, so I always have trouble taking my wallet out of the pocket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cute and warm coat, strongly recommend It is a very lovely coat. I've always avoided wearing downs because I can never find a cute one- but this one's color and design are just on point! It is fairly warm, and shields light rain. Prevents wind from getting through fairly well as well. Strongly recommend!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Love the Coat Hate the Hood I have worn this jacket all winter and it is super warm without being too bulky or slippery. I love the coat itself. My problem is the hood. There is no tie down or cinch mechanism to pull it in around your head and ears. It does not stay on in the face of a slight breeze. The little velcro adjustment on top is not adequate. If you need a functioning hood, keep looking. If you are OK with the hood sitting prettily on your shoulder then this coat is perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect coat This by far is my favorite coat. It's very warm and I love the thumb sleeves and to top it off it gives you a femine look and doesn't make you look boxy.not to mention the quality of the coat is very nice as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! Just like the title says, I absolutely love this jacket. The size fit perfectly and it's not too long on me (I'm 5'1). Keeps me warm and stylish. The hood is a little awkward and does really function as it should but overall it's a great jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm & Flattering Really love this jacket overall. It's warm and flattering. I would agree with other comments about the hood on the jacket. It really needs to be a bit bigger to be able to cover ones entire head and stay on. Overall very happy with my purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from warm and comfortable except fabric being stiff/hard Overall speaking it's a really good product. The collar is actually is long that can even cover my chin. But the fabric is stiff that I need to bend it with my hand everything before I sit down.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect jacket for rainy windy winter I love this jacket! It truly is warm and breathable. It's beautiful, praticle and durable. The reason why I didn't give it 5 starts was because of the hood. It is perfect when the removable fur is on. But when it rained heavily, i removed the fur so it won't get wet. When I did that, the hood was too short that couldn't cover really well. But other than that, this is the best winter jacket I've ever owned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great coat, bad hood I love love love this coat!!! I live in a cold city of Chicago and constantly I am cold. This coat is amazing! Extremely warm and beautiful too. Looks very stylish. Love the lenght- I am 5'11 and it looks amazing! When I tried this coat in the store 2 other women loved it on me so much that they tried and putchased the coats as well :) One bad thing- hood. Terrible. Just took it off and wear a hat...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hood only complaint, otherwise wonderful! Very warm (for Missouri), however hood does not stay up. Zipper good quality (metal). I bought 2 coats before this one and they did not have omnitech, were not long enough, and the zipper was plastic and delicate. One was goose down and was more expensive, but it was bit as warm as this columbia coat. I'm sure if I kept looking I would fine one warmer, however this one is hard to beat and the sale price was unresistable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from little small then normal size M. I love this jacket, I usually wear size M on Columbia, so I ordered size M on this, but when I wear is little small then normal Size M. beside that,,, is very good down jacket. I need to give the jacket to my daughter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing coat This coat kept me warm while walking around in Chicago in February. Also, it has big pockets where you can store gloves and other things. It is also quite long which is very good. I took a size bigger than my size because I like a coat with more space inside. Only downside was that cold air was getting in from the bottom.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from pros and cons I agree with most of the reviews on here. It is definitely waterproof and windproof. It kept me warm but I definitely didn't get too warm as some other reviews mentioned. It seemed to fit a little larger than other Columbia jackets and the inside is black, the outside is charcoal/gray. The biggest cons to me were the lack of anything to keep the hood from blowing off my head--I literally had to hold it with my hand and honestly the fur on the hood looks like road kill! Also, the main zipper doesn't function well and I haven't been able to get the one on the hood where the fur zips on to work since taking it off the first time. Id buy again (in a smaller size) for functional purposes, but not for appearance/style.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Another Columbia Coat With a Bad Hood This coat is very stylish and fits close to the body which keeps in the warmth, although i can never be too warm. The hood, once again is useless and does not match the quality of this coat. It is a complete waste and that is too bad since a hood in the wintertime is essential to keeping warm. What will you do about this Columbia? Please fix.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesomely comfy fashionable and warm! This coat is absolutely wonderful! I love it! The coat is so warm and comfortable. It is definitely waterproof it rained like crazy one day and I stayed completely dry. Love this coat! Definitely recommend!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from The devil is in the details I would give this coat 5 stars if it weren't for two extremely important things: the hood and the Velcro on the flap that covers the zipper. First the hood: it has no fastener!! It's unbelievable!! There is no way cinch down the hood or secure it under your chin-- no ties, drawstring/bungees, buttons or snaps! How this even happened during the design of this product is a mystery. It's a small detail but a huge deal since the hood is effectively worthless if you can't make it fit/stay on your head. Because of this it bags out and if there is a slight wind it blows right off. Second is the Velcro: it snags on EVERYTHING! A number of my sweaters have huge snags in them, not to mention mittens, hats and really anything that Velcro can get caught on. Plus, the Velcro is weak and doesn't stay closed. They really need to replace the Velcro with snaps. Again a small detail with big consequences. Overall the coat is warm (enough) and fits really well. I am keeping it for these reasons and because this is the 7th coat I've ordered and I'm tired of the search. I'm 5'7" and 122 lbs and a small fits perfectly. However, I would not recommend it if you care about function and wear a lot of sweaters or other knits.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Too big, weird lining This jacket was not what I thought it was going to be at all -first, it was way too big (I'm 5'4" and about 120#) and had a lot of "hips" to it. A winter jacket already puffs out and this one was just shaped so strangely and did not sit right. Also, the inside looks like a spaceship so unless you like metallic silver lining, this jacket may not be for you. I did like the charcoal gray color and it even had a little blue tint that was nice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great coat For a few years, I have been on the search for a long coat with down that is waterproof. A few years ago, I forwent the waterproof part and got a long down coat from another brand. It's warm and very nice except when it rains or snows or it's very windy. I purchased the Carson Pass II jacket for days when it isn't completely frigid and I absolutely love it! I wanted something similar in a longer and warmer style for really cold days. For reference, I am 5'6" 130 lbs and carry my weight in my hips. I purchased a medium and honestly wouldn't mind if it was slightly bigger. It fits a tad smaller than the Carson Pass II. The fabric seems to be the same on both coats and is a bit swishy but what does one expect with a true waterproof fabric? The Apres Arson hits me just above the knee, is fitted in the chest and is a-line below the waist. Some people have stated that it looks like a bell and as soon as I tried it on, I understood what they meant. That shape makes walking easy, though, and doesn't look goofy at all. The hood is okay; if it was just like the Carson Pass II hood it would be perfect. A couple more pockets on this coat would be great, too, but all in all, I'm very happy with this coat and know that it will serve me well in years to come. My search for a knee length waterproof down coat is over! And I'm glad that I've finally discovered Columbia. I really like the fit (although I wear a size larger than I do in most other coats but I know that now) and quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Winter Jacket This jacket offers style & warmth. The length hits just above the knees but does not feel like it constricts movement. If you have long arms, this coat is a great choice and the arms do not move up past your wrists The built-in comfort cuffs give you that extra security around your gloves, should you need it. The neck of the jacket is very warm, so if you forget a scarf, you would be ok with just the jacket zipped up! Overall, this jacket is WARM! Even with the coldest New England temps this jacket keeps you very toasty' Very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to everyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from worth to got it I like this jacket very much 。it is very warm。but there's a question, why it always reduce the pricE after I buy the items???
Date published: 2017-01-15
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great coat - does not run smal I read reviews before purchasing this product and so many of them said that it runs small, so I ordered a large when I wear a medium in all other Columbia coats, and it SWALLOWED me. I had to return it and order the medium which should fit like a glove. The coat itself is very good quality and cute, but go off the measurements and your normal sizing! I am 5' 9" and 150 lbs and the large way way too big.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and lightweight I bought this for my wife and she loves it. She does not like the cold but this jacket has kept her very warm. Today it got up to 30 degrees and she complained that she was too warm but has been perfect in colder temps. It gets below zero on many occasions. Originally bought a med which is her usual size, but had to send it back and get a large which fits good.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not keep the cold out! I purchased this coat today at Dicks and I was so excited about trying it out for the day. I was so disappointed immediately! I live in Chicagoland area and let me tell you we've had a harsh winter so far, I wanted to find a coat that would take -20 degree weather. I thought this would be the one but it did not keep me warm. The cold penetrated my arms and kinda lingered for a minute or so. I am not sure if it is the breathable material but this is not a -20 degree weather coat. Love love the feminine fit it really does accentuate my figure and I hate to return it but For $300 I want a coat to keep me warm.
Date published: 2016-12-24
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm Very Warm, but the material is too hard, not soft enough. Also the hat couldn't cover the head, always fell off. Still consider the price tag, It's a good enough catch.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love it, except when its below 30..... I bought this after 5 years of living in Chicago and being frugal about dropping hundreds of dollars on a jacket. After TONS and TONS of research, I bought this one. It fit like a dream. I have an hourglass figure and this one compliments that perfectly so I dont feel bulky. I thought it was warm....I wore it a few days in the 20s 30s, my middle is warm, but the draft coming up my legs is not good at all. My legs and butt were still mega cold, thus making all of me feel pretty darn cold still. If you're someone that wears two pants, then this jacket is probaly all good, but I just cant do the double pant thing, hence why I got the longer jacket, and its really just not as warm overall for a Chicago winter, waiting on train platforms as I thought....really disappointed. I do like this jacket and would recommend it, but just be prepared for the draft up the legs, and to still have to have like 3+ layers for below 20 for an almost $300 jacket....

Rated 1 out of 5 by from So NOT worth the money! I do love the flattering fit of this coat, however, under 30 degrees, it is not warm at all! I bought this because of its Omni-heat technology, being waterproof, and the warmth factor. The metallic Omni heat lining may trap some heat but if it is below 30, it traps the cold; the lower part of the coat that does not cling to your body acts like one of those hot/cold food bags. As soon as it gets cold, it travels throughout the coat all the way down your arms. It was 20 degrees the other day and I was freezing! Not only that, but for almost $300 you would think they would have a drawstring for the hood; which is nowhere close to a snorkel hood. It is small (barely covers my head and blows off with the slightest breeze. Also, the pockets are deep but are only big enough for a tissue. If you try to zip it with a pair of gloves in them, it is a chore. I am 5'7" and slim so it is not because of my size that any of these issues occur. The worst part is I bought in the early fall, tried it on, fit great, but when the weather finally got cold enough to wear it, I could not longer return it. So, I am out $300 and stuck with a coat I do not like.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yay! I bought this coat pending a move to North Dakota, so I wanted something pretty heavy duty but still good-looking. Pros: You can't tell from the photo, but it has a semi-reflective interior, which supposedly reflects your body heat back to you. I thought that was a nice touch. I don't know how it all works, but that plus the down filling keeps me pretty warm, and I've worn this out in 15 degree weather with nothing but a long-sleeve shirt under it. I love the hood—it's adjustable, so you can choose how far over your head it goes. It also looks great and keeps my noggin warm. It has a waist strap that you can also adjust, so you can cinch the waist tighter if you want, or even remove it altogether. It has an interior zippered breast pocket to put things in, as well as two pockets on the outside in which you can stuff your hands. The neck area goes high and is fleece on the inside, so you could wear this without a scarf and be fine. Also it says it's waterproof?? Not that I've tested this out, but if so, that's awesome!! Surprisingly, it is machine washable, though I have not tried that yet. I've gotten a lot of compliments on it—people telling me that it looked really sleek and work-appropriate. Cons: Not too much to say here. I do think the armpit and maybe the chest area is just a tad tight, but I guess it also makes you look really good. I got a medium, and I'm 5'6", 145 pounds, kinda busty. It's perfect if I have only a long-sleeved tee under it. I tried it on with a North Face jacket underneath, and I could zip everything up and move around, but it was definitely tight. Then again, it keeps me so warm that I don't feel the need to pile on another layer underneath. I do also think the outside pockets are just a little small and too centered on the jacket. I can fit my hands in them fine (and they are also lined with fleece, which is very nice), but it's kind of a struggle since the zipper opening is shorter/smaller than I'm used to (so I keep the buttons on both ends unbuckled, so that it's easier to slide my hands in). I also feel like I'm a kangaroo holding my hands in my pouch since the pockets are more in the center. BUT, these are really all minor things, and I don't feel like I look weird or anything like that. Just trying to give a complete review :).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from In LOVE I bought this coat in Chicago when I was searching for a new winter coat. I am 5'3 and a good 140 lbs. And a medium fits me perfectly. It also shows your figure off well with the adjustable band in the back, you can also leave it unbuttoned. It is so WARM. I've had it since last year, 2015, and it's still perfect. I did try to wash it though and it kind of messed up the puffiness of the coat. I washed it as it said it wasn't able to be dry cleaned. But it's still warm. My only issue is the hood, it isnt as large as it could be, it kind of sits awkward on your head. Otherwise, it's a perfect coat. I love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Toasty! This was supposed to be a Christmas gift but my fiance let me have it early as Boston's weather this morning was 5 degrees fahrenheit with a wind chill of minus 10. The only part of me that was cold was my face and my knees as the jacket comes just above! Stellar performance on the first day and true temps to warrant this coat. Hood was great with the fur blocking out the wind. Sleeves are perfect and the inner sleeve with the thumbhole does not allow any wind up the sleeves, especially once the gloves were on! Highly recommend

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this coat! After deciding it was seriously time to invest in a good winter coat, I polled friends & family and Columbia came up the winner. Today is day 2 and I could not be happier (and it's a freezing cold day here in NYC). The Omni-Tech breathable warmth is amazing. Commuting through NYC means lots of going inside and then back outside which, in an inferior coat would mean overheating when inside and being chilly while outside. The coat is super warm when I'm outside and super comfortable when I'm inside.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Warm! I absolutely love this coat! It is very warm. Living in MN, I needed something for the subzero days of winter. This coat is keeping me warm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warmest coat I've owned I ordered this Columbia jacket online, and it arrived before the original expected date. I am 5'1 and weigh around 105 pounds, and the extra small is the perfect size. I can wear it with just a long sleeved shirt underneath, and it keeps me warm in 20-30 degree weather. The jacket is high quality, and I would definitely recommend this product. The only negative is that I occasionally have a hard time zipping the jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Needed to exchange I love this coat but needed to exchange it at the Mall of America store. The zipper would go up about 25 percent of the time. I tried a different one at MOA and it zipped up every time. You now have a happy customer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Warm, but not functional I've only had it for a week and I've had the chance to test it in rain, wind, and snow. Overall, it keeps me warm (biggest priority), but the pockets and hood aren't up to par. The pockets are terrible - your hands scratch the zippers trying to fit in (and I have tiny hands). They are also in a poor position if you like to keep things in your pockets, like your cell phone because when you sit down they cram into your gut. And if you're expecting to remove the faux fur hood liner, good luck keeping the hood on your head. Note: the India Ink is more like a blue color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE - Does Run very small I am 5'11" and had to buy 2 sizes bigger than I usually do. I was wearing a sweater when trying it on so include this when you are ordering. It is very warm, keeps you dry and I love the color. This is the first coat that I have bought that the arms actually go past my wrist bones.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Winter Coat for Cleveland Area Hiker I am an avid hiker in the Cleveland OH area. We typically tend to get some harsh winter temperatures, a lot of lake effect snow and wind. I get a lot of overall joint pain in the lower temps so I was in need of something that would keep me super toasty but still allowed for mobility and this coat fits the bill. Overall the coat is true to size. I am 5'6, about 135lbs and the small fits very well. The coat is fitted which I love. I work a corporate job and I'm happy wearing it around my companies campus, looks very clean on and not too puffy or bulky. It has been in the high 20's for temps right now and I had to unzip a little on my morning walk with just an Under Armour cold gear layer on. As others have noted, Columbia needs to get it together on color descriptions. I ordered the India Ink color which looked like a darker black than the actual black (looked more like a dark gray) on the website. I also googled "India Ink Color" and black was the first color that came up associated with it so that is what I was expecting. My India Ink coat is actually more blue, maybe a little gray depending on the light. I actually like it a lot, but it was completely not what I was expecting. Had I not liked it as much as I did, I would be very frustrated with having to send it back for another color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great jacket This is really a great jacket for cold weather. It keeps you super warm and is very comfortable. I read the reviews and got a large to fit my chest (36DD), I probably could have made a medium work but now I have enough room to wear bulky sweaters under the coat. My only complaint is the hood, the fur gets really wet and matted if you wear it when it's snowing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for petite women that want fashion and function This is not your usual winter coat it's not bulky. It's great for someone who is short and petite. It shows your shape well and it's warm. Fashion plus function it's great. I hope Columbia puts out more products that are fashion and function at the same time. Love love.

Womens size chart measurement guide
  • 1. Chest/Bust: Measure at the fullest part of the chest, under the armpits and over the shoulder blades, keeping the tape measure firm and level.
  • 2. Waist: Measure around the natural waistline, allowing the tape measure to sit comfortably.
  • 3. Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips.
  • 4. Sleeves: Start at the center back of your neck and measure across the shoulder and down to the wrist. Round up to the next even number.
  • 5. Inseam: Measure from the top of the interior leg to the bottom of the ankle.
