Women’s Barlow Pass 550 TurboDown™ Jacket is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 97.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Coat I ordered the gravel color which is actually more of a hunter green. I read other reviews and knew that this was the actual color; I love how the green looks with the fur on the hood and brown accents on the zippers. I have big hips so the coat rides up when I walk which is unfortunate but all the more reason for me to work out intentionally. It's a classic Columbia Omni Heat product so it works great for where I live. It's really comfortable and functional.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Winter Jacket My wife purchased this coat and LOVES it. The fit was great ( she is a size 14 and got an XL) and all the detailing and buttons and snaps she loved. The only thing is, we ordered this like a week ago and the coat we received did not have the orange around the collar, so I don't know if this is an outdated pic or what, I guess it's a good thing though if that is deterring you from buying this jacket!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from First Impressions I got this jacket in the mail today - first impressions are it is super warm (tried it on to see the fit and immediately got hot). Seems like a great winter jacket for New England. I love the gravel color - a little different but looks great. The linked pockets and lined neck are so soft and warm! I ordered a small (I am 5-2 and about 125 lbs), but it's a little big. I may be between an XS and S for Columbia sizing, but got the larger size, thinking about layers underneath the jacket in the winter. The arms are really long on me - this would be my biggest complaint. I will always buy a petite size if available, so the arm thing may be specific to us petite gals. You can adjust the waist and hoot to taper a little, which I took full advantage of, so the fit looks a little nicer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A nice coat for cold winter days I love this coat for walking the dog in cold and snowy days. I love the length and don't get the cold air up my back. The hood is perfect for me. I like to wear ear muffs and the hood keeps the wind out. The hood is large but I like that. It is a nice warm jacket. Jacket is waterproof too!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid parka I just bought this coat in October & the weather hasn’t been cold enough to really test it out, so I can’t vouch for how well it’ll hold up in freezing-cold foul weather. It *seems* to be of good quality & quite cozy & warm. I purchased the Slate color & I LOVE it! But it is a bit more hunter green than the pics on the website lead you to believe. I struggled (& failed) at capturing the true color of this coat - see my pic for something that’s not-quite-accurate, but it’s closer than the gray color on the website. Also the website shows the hood w/an orange lining; mine came w/black lining (which is fine by me but might bum some people out). I’m 5’6” 130lbs (35x28x37”) & I ordered a Medium. It’s roomy. I could have went with a Small & been okay. But some extra room for cold weather layers is a good thing. My one major gripe is that the hand pockets can only be accessed from the top flap. It’s not the easiest or most comfortable angle. Plus I foresee collecting a lot of chilly PNW rain in there while trying to keep my hands warm. Overall I’m digging this parka & I can’t wait to put all of that insulation & the waterproof shell to the test this winter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I could feel it warming up! I just ordered this jacket because I am moving back to Minnesota, where the winters can be brutally cold and windy! I am very excited to test it in the frozen tundra, but for now it is a very warm and great jacket for out here in Portland, OR. I definitely recommend doing the sizing chart. I am always in-between a Small and Medium because I don't like my jackets being super loose on me nor do I like them super snug or short in the arms. Also the coloring is definitely off. I ordered the Black and it looks like the Gravel or Graphite Grey. Its a really nice color, and I don't mind the grey, but I would plan on all the colors being a little different. So for a reference point. I am 5'6, 145 lbs, athletic build, longer arms, my chest is 34D. I ordered a Medium, and I think it fits very well all around. Its not to bulky with just a T-shirt, but not to small where I can still layer up with a hoodie. Enjoy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Keeps me warm I love this jacket. It has kept me warm so far in the low 20 F degrees. Two unfortunate things are that the rib-sleeve sewing came apart after I washed the jacket for the first time. The feathers also poke out of the jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfy Coat This is a very comfy coat - not heavy feeling when wearing, keeps you warm when moving. Size fits slightly small. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Jacket for variety of climates The Jacket feels of good quality and keeps in its heat. Have only worn it in -10 celcius so far but it has worked exceptionally so far. Only negative thing that I've noticed is that the down has been coming out of the jacket quite often. This might possibly become a problem. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Jacket I go to school in the upper peninsula, so I have to deal with very harsh winters, like -40 Degrees and 2 feet of snow harsh. This jacket is super warm and stylish. Normally for women's winter jackets you have to either select style or warmth, but this jacket you don't. The only bad thing about this jacket is the pockets are more stylish than functional and the colors are slightly off from the photo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Light Weight, But Warm! I tried on several coats, but chose this one because it was so light weight, but very warm. It is not only down filled, but has the Omni-Tech silver lining for extra warmth. I am only 5"4 , but this coat fit me perfect, (size L). Important note, not all of the winter jackets are waterproof , this one is. Many are water repellant. The jacket is flattering, not boxy at all. So glad I decided on this jacket. Let it snow!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new favorite coat! I love this coat! It fits perfectly, is warm, flattering and a great color! I got the gravel color-- online it looks more green but in person, it's less "hunter green" and more of a deep hunter green. The Omni-reflectant lining inside makes it so warm, and it's not too bulky. I wore it today with a thin sweater and it felt perfect. I'm 5'10, 150lbs, long torso, and it fit perfectly. My only complaint is that in the picture online, it shows a reddish/orange lining near the hood, and the one I received had a grey colored one. Kind of a bummer as I was looking forward to the color combo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I hoped for! This is the coat I was looking for and exactly what I wanted. It is warm, stylish and a unique colour. Perfect for my lifestyle of running around with my dog in the snow and walking to school. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm and Sturdy I purchased this coat recently and have been pretty pleased with it. Pros: - Warm - Nice length (I'm 5' 5") - Love all the zippered pockets and the cuffs - Effective waterproofing - Feels sturdy Cons: - Pockets are a bit awkward, especially wearing gloves - Waist cinching tends to loosen over a couple wears

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tall girl coat Attention fellow tall ladies! This coat fits like a dream. I am 5'11 and have broad shoulders, to the point that most coat sleeves don't fit. The length of the sleeves are not only perfect, but the overall sizing of the coat is as well (I bought a Large). The sides of the coat have belted cinches to make it more fitted, which is a wonderful touch without feeling like you have a waist belt securing your coat. After battling a Montana winter in the same coat day-in-day-out (another amazing omni-heat Columbia jacket), I decided that I needed another warm, winter jacket. Columbia was my first stop. I got this coat on winter clearance, so I haven't been able to test it on anything colder than my 35 degrees morning bike rides, but I can give it a thumbs up for warmth so far. I've also gotten caught in a couple of heavy rainstorms in this coat and it repelled water like a champ - I didn't even get wet! Other features include warm, fleece lined pockets and a quilted interior of the hood (that's a deep pink color!). Highly, highly recommend this coat. I'm in love!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Coat! I bought this coat specifically to hike, climb, explore & stay warm and protected from the elements in ICELAND. This coat went above and beyond my expectations. In snow, underneath waterfalls, in ice caves, on top of glaciers, etc.. I was warm and dry thanks to my coat. I would recommend to everybody, I'm extremely pleased! I'm 5'4 116lbs. and it fit perfectly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks different in a picture I bought this jacket for next winter, so I can't say whether it's really warm as advertised. It looks nice but I was surprised to see that colours is not as that in a picture.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Norway vacations I have been living in LA for the last 5 years, so I am very spoiled with the weather in the rest of the world. I purchased the jacket in December because it was on sale, thinking in my next travel to Norway in February. Norway! Yes, I went to Norway with this jacket (-4C, not that bad, for a person who did not live in LA) and it was perfect. I was never cold outside, and I did not use thermal first layers, just a normal first layer and a sweater. Also it is long enough, so my tights never got cold (definitely a plus for me).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! This jacket is so warm and cozy! I LOVE the fuzzy neck and the cuffs and hood (no hat needed!!)are perfect at keeping out all the cold! I am a petite plus size (size 20) and I bought the coat in a size 1x and although it fits really snug the arms are not ridiculously long like most of the coats I have tried, they actually fit reasonably on my short arms. I am currently loosing weight and would not have ordered the coat otherwise knowing it would be so snug, but did knowing that it would be fitting much better by next winter. The only negative I have to say about the coat is that the small belts on the side don't stay where you set them, this may be because my size 20 body fills my coat out, but my teenage daughter bought the same coat in a different colour (and much smaller size) and her side belts don't hold very well either and she is a slim build. I will mention though that she LOVES her coat! She liked mine so much that she asked for the same coat and didn't even care that her and I would be wearing the same coat, lol. For those of you that may not be familiar with teenagers, they usually do everything in their power to not look like their parents......she really likes this coat to be willing to look like her mom.My eight year old daughter loved the fuzzy neck and wanted one too so we ordered it in a child's size for her as well. We live in Alberta, Canada and winters are cold here.....my kids walk to school everyday and we spend a lot of our down time in freezing arenas and this coat has passed my families warmth text It would be nice if Columbia had more selection in plus size coats, that are also top rated for cold temps....... a petite option would be so appreciated as well

Rated 5 out of 5 by from keep you warm This coat is very warm. The fit is more tailored than expected but very comfortable. The lining is really crazy metallic. The hood has a strap on the back to size it better to your head. All in all I'm very pleased with it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing This jacket is so warm, perfect for negative degree weather we have in Chicago. I dont have to wear heavy layers underneath or even a scarf because the neck lining is so warm. I also get a lot of compliments and always get asked where I got it. It is worth the money and so well made that it will last for many winters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the Price This is by far the best jacket I have ever owned. Its very warm, yet light, and it fits just perfectly. I'm 5'5" 127 lbs. and I got an XS. I would definitely recommend spending the money on this jacket, you wont be disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Jacket I LOVE my new jacket and every Columbia jacket that I have ever owned. The best part of this jacket is that I have long arms and have a hard time finding any jacket that is long enough in the sleeves. When I put this one on, I had another winner. I know the price seems a little high but I can justify the purchase because every Columbia jacket I've owned (this will be my third) has lasted me at least 5 years each.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost perfect That´s a lot of stuff I like on this jacket. I like the color (I bought the green one), I like that it´s warm and I think it looks very nice. I also learned to love the pocket on chest size. I use it for my cell phone, it´s quite handy. Better than the other one, which might get blocked by the seat belt when I´m in a car. I´m 5´2 and weigh 48kg, I bought the XS and it fits me very well. The collar, however, goes very high, up to your chin. If you don´t zip it all the way up, it doesn´t really stay down. And if I do, it keeps scratching my chin, to the point I get a rash. Although, when it´s -10 degrees, I kind of like how long it is. :-) I whish there was a version of this coat that went down to the knees, because I feel very cold in my legs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love almost everything about this jacket Received my jacket a few weeks ago. So far I love the fit, the warmth and style. One thing I don't like is the giant hood. Pretty sure I am not a bobble head and neither is anyone else. So why make such a huge hood. I sized it down to smallest size and still comes to my eyes. I can live with that as I'll just take off the faux fur if I need to see. That being said everything else is on point when designing this jacket. Great for a cold Canadian winter!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Jacket one problem Love my jacket. Great style and very warm. My only complaint is the adjustable waist does not stay tightened. They loosen within minutes of tightening them up, defeating the purpose. Wish they were better but overall a good jacket.
Date published: 2017-01-07
Rated 1 out of 5 by from should have paid attention to other reviews I really wanted to love this jacket...but... - the coat was heavy and bulky but not warm - the sleeves had very little insulation and were not warm at all - at 50 degrees with no wind, I was not warm enough, especially my arms. - the reflective insulation does not work! Columbia, you let me down!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm but bulky This is a very warm, well made coat. Looks great, I love the colour and style. It's great for when you're out in the elements, but is very bulky to drive in. And the fit seems to be quite large. My last Columbia winter jacket was a medium and fit perfectly. I ordered a small based on reviews and still find it very large. I am 5'2" and find that the sleeves are too long and are always bunched up.
Date published: 2016-12-21
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great coat I love this coat. Ordered offline without trying on after trying on similar styles in store. The coat fits great, sleeves are a little long but that isn't a bother with cold Michigan winters. Coat is warm but feels lightweight without being puffy. Very happy with my choice.
Date published: 2016-12-21
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely Amazing The coat is extremely warm and comfy with roomy pockets. The other night it felt like -15 degrees Fahrenheit and I did not feel it a single bit. The omni-heat inside traps your heat in wonderfully. For size, I stand at about 5' 2'', ordered a small. The sleeves are a tad bit longer than my fingers but I like it, it keeps my hands warm. It comes to about mid-thigh in length. The only things I have a little complaint about is the collar and hood. The collar has a tenancy to stick up, it doesn't want to lay down nicely when you don't have it zipped up all the way so time to time to pokes me under my jaw. The fur on the hood sticks out funny on the ends, instead of shaping with the hood it makes it kinda looks like an oval and can be funny looking time to time. Otherwise, this coat is amazing, I'm not going to have to worry about the north cold when walking around for college.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I returned it I read all of the reviews I could to try to figure out my size. I am 110 pounds, 5'2", 32A bust and slim. I went with the XS and it fit me. The armpit area was a tiny bit tight , but it wasn't uncomfortable, just maybe a higher cut. I do have slightly broader shoulders. I didn't think I had long arms, but the sleeves fit me perfectly so maybe I do! I did not wear this jacket very long because I wasn't sure if I was keeping it. When I wore it outside in 5 degree weather my arms were still cold. I also felt a draft coming up the bottom a bit. I also did not like that the fur on the hood is longer and untamed, just personal preference. You can make the hood tighter to your liking which is nice. I also knew the pockets were on the front of the jacket, which I would prefer them being on the side so I can put my hands in. When I put my cell phone in the pocket and then sat down, the phone was poking me in the stomach. This jacket has a ton of great reviews, so it must be great, it just wasn't for me. The black is a dark grey color with a pretty sheen to it and a heather weave to the fabric. Very attractive.
Date published: 2016-12-17
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Grey is the New Black The color description of this coat is misleading. It's a great coat and all, but the "black" coat is definitely grey. Not even a dark grey, it's a middle grey. I was disappointed to say the least.
Date published: 2016-12-16
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Perfect Every-Day Winter Jacket I LOVE this jacket! It's fits true to size, and is extremely compfortable - not too heavy and not too light. It keeps me warm even in 18F. The fur lining on the collar is so soft... I use it every day! I've only had it for a couple of weeks now so I can't attest for durability, but the overall quality feels and looks like it will last a long time. I am giving it 5 stars without a doubt.
Date published: 2016-12-16
Rated 1 out of 5 by from No pockets I was really excited about this coat but there were no pockets for your hands. There were pockets that opened on top with a flap but not something you could shove your hands in. Super disappointed. It is 12 degrees here and I am desperate for a coat. I am trying another one but it hasn't shipped yet. It doesn't look as warm but appears to have usable pockets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Jacket! I absolutely love this jacket. I had never owned a longer jacket before and being of shorter stature I was worried about how it would look on me. It fits and looks great and I get so many compliments on it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Almost perfect but not quite... I have a love/hate relationship with this coat. It's almost perfect except for the very frustrating front pockets and typical quirky Columbia fit. This is a very warm mid length coat. I love the fuzzy Sherpa lining around the neck and chin, this alone makes this a keeper. No need for a scarf because it is soft, cozy and warm. But the lack of side pockets is nearly a dealbreaker. The front pockets are awkward, low, and shallow/narrow. They only have an inner lining on one side. The worst thing is that they pop out and look horrible if you put anything in your pockets, especially your hands. I am petite and have small hands and they barely fit. I expect a thick winter jacket of this sort to have appropriate pockets for warmth and these don't cut it. I'm sure this is made worse by the fact that this coat fits a bit oddly. I'm 5'1", 115lbs and slightly pear shaped and bought the XS. The coat is a bit tight around my rear and hips (making the front pocket area tight and bottom zipper start to split when I sit) but considerably looser up top, around my upper arms, and upper back. The fit is not as bad as other Columbia coats (Lay D Down) and thankfully the arm length, while still a bit long, isn't as bad either, but I still look a bit like a linebacker with this jacket (my husband said it's not a very flattering jacket). The adjustable straps on the side really don't do much to help. Despite this, the coat is very warm and fairly lightweight (but still manages to look bulky). I have room to layer with a fleece or heavy sweater, but have been just fine in DC area winter weather so far just wearing a long sleeve mid weight shirt (temps down to low 30s). It has the Omni heat lining and I'm not sure that I like it. The lining does absolutely nothing for me when I'm standing around or waking my corgi (with those little legs, they don't move fast), but when walking around campus briskly I start to overheat and actually sweat. I feel like the Omni heat makes this and the other jackets I've tried into "moist ovens" that don't breathe and cause me to trap heat and overheat when I don't need it. The overall quality seems good and I expect it to last a while. I'll keep this coat since I got it for a discounted price, but wouldn't have kept it at full price since basic functionality is limited by poor design.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty Very warm Although I'm not IN LOVE with the style of this coat on me, I get a ton of compliments on this coat and it's colour (the green shade). I'm 5'8" - the sleeves are a nice length on me Well made The only problem is that the adjustable straps on both sides of the waist always loosen! I have to readjust them everytime I put the coat on or after a minute or so of moving around in the coat. I'm going to add velcro to keep them tightened and in the same spot.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Winter Coat Love this coat. I can wear in Chicago winter and have stayed completely warm. The only thing I would change on it is the fur around the hood. I would have like a better quality fur on it, but it is removable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Warm Parka Read many reviews before buying. I am a 5.1 small-frame woman and ordered the india ink in xs. It fits great, even though often jackets feel too large on me. It looks exactly like the picture too. So my two main concern because of reviews I read before buying were both untrue and I was happily surprised with the great look and warmth of this jacket. Perfect for a true colorado mountain winter!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE this coat! I absolutely LOVE this coat. I am 5’11 and weigh about 155 lbs. I have an athletic build with broader shoulders and usually have a hard time finding coats that are long enough and that aren’t too snug in the shoulders. I ordered a medium and was pleasantly surprised with how well this coat fit. I still have plenty of room underneath for thick sweaters, but the coat fits nicely and does not appear baggy or slouchy. I noticed some other reviews complaining about the fur around the hood. I will say that it’s not as thick as the fur on some of the other Columbia coats that I own, but it still looks very nice. I ordered the coat in black and it is actually more of a charcoal gray which I ended up liking better anyway. The coat is extremely warm and hits me on my upper thigh so it keeps you covered even when bending or sitting. I am extremely pleased with this purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful. Stylish. Warm. Love love this coat. Looks hip. Has warm sherpa material on the collar which keeps your neck warm. Soft stretchy cotton for wrists and long enough to pull over hands. I'm 5'2 165 to 170 lbs and a Medium fits exact -I'm small on top and tad thicker on waist and thicker bottom. Length is mid-thigh. Coat is keeping me very warm in 25 degree weather. The only thing I would add is side pockets since pockets are in the front. Lots of small but nice features.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from don't order online tried this coat on in Pond at the store. I decided to order it online. When it arrived, I thought it would be the same coat, however the inside lining, instead of being black like the one in the store was a bright pink color. Not being one who likes to wear bright pink, I decided to return. However, as I do not live near a store, I must pay return shipping on it. I do see now that the online picture, when looking at the hood you can see a tiny bit of red color, but not at all the bright pink that it is in person. I must say that red would have been fine, but the pink does not go well with the pond color on the outside.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this Jacket This is the best Columbia Jacket I have had so far. I live in MN & it gets so cold here. I take public transportation and I never have to worry about being cold. It runs small so go a size up. the only bad thing is if you order Black it isn't really black it is more of a heather grey. I didn't like that so I exchanged it for a Plum purple & I am so much happier with the color.
