Rated 5 out of 5 by from So warm! I have been a huge pansy about cold weather my whole life and moved to the mountains last summer so I read a million reviews on a dozen coats to try to find something that would make the cold months tolerable for me. I settled on this one after all the positive reviews and couldn’t have been happier! It is so warm that I don’t mind the cold anymore, which is crazy to see myself type. I wear boots and this coat and the only thing that’s cold are my legs (even my butt is toasty bc of the coverage this coat offers). I will say the wind can cut thru the hood more than I’d like, but I fix that with ear warmers or a scarf. I’ve tried buying “warm” coats in the past (even from Columbia), and finally decided to pay the money for this one and it was totally worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warmest Jacket I have ever owned I am always freezing and this jacket is so extremely warm. I am so very pleased with this purchase. Sizing is off a little; it runs big. I am 5'3'' and 125, athletic build and the small is roomy to the point where I can wear a sweatshirt underneath it. But i don't mind because I always have extra layers. I ordered black and the color is really a dark grey, which is still nice. The back is longer so it covers your bum and I swear the omni-shield heat coating on the inside is magic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this coat! I ordered this coat based on other reviews. I ordered a Medium first based on the reviews but it was too big. They were very helpful with sending it back and reordering the size I needed and the same price I paid. I ordered the coat during the black Friday sale. It keeps me warm with temps in the low teens. Only cons is the sides will not stay pulled tight. Also the hood is a little heavy, comes pretty low and covers my eyes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love, Love, Love this jacket! Perfect for winters in Minnesota! I already owned a long down jacket from Columbia, so I wanted something with more of a mid-length. This jacket is perfect. It has a bit of a tapered back so it still covers your backside well. I'm 5'8" and have long arms, these sleeves are perfect length when my arms are extended. Super warm. I love the same details that give it feminine touch. Would highly recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Jacket Ordered this jacket online. I received within a few short days. Really like the jacket. It is warm but not too heavy. My biggest issue with the coat is the ugly fur. Seen a lot of jackets out there with nice fur but not this one -at least it is detachable (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great coat but... Overall I haven’t seen or experienced anything wrong or faulty with the coat. The only thing that was negative was I open d the package and found a cigarette lighter in one of the front pockets. Not sure if it was pre-owned or was returned, still disappointing to find such a strange object in a “new” item.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good choice but it could be better This jacket would be better if it were a little longer, the waist is well molded which makes it very feminine. The colors are not what they look like on the page, so I bought a black one but it's actually gray. I've worn it in days of -38 • C with a fleece jacket underneath and it works well. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm in Chicago This coat is incredibly warm and blocks out the wind. It was in the negatives and windy and I did not feel a thing. This is exactly what I was hoping for, especially considering I'm cold natured. I am satisfied with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone leaving in the Midwest

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Coat I have gotten so many compliments on this coat! I am 5'9", 155 pounds and got the medium, it fits perfectly. I have long arms and the sleeves are long enough as well. It is stylish and functional.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love Barlow Pass I've been researching a coat that fits my short arms, fits nice and has the warmth that is needed for harsh winds in my area. I'm 4'11", I have large breast but a tiny waist; finding coats are very challenging for me. After years of research I found Barlow Pass. I fell in love with it, wasn't too happy about the price but caught it on a sale and decided to purchase it in hopes that it was what I was looking for. Yes it was! Hugs my body but still enough room to move comfortably and not worried about it being too tight, covers my rear end, sleeves are a little long but not nearly as long from other companies. Keeps me warm in -15 to -25 weather with strong winds. We live out in farm fields so we get strong winds that many coats don't hold up to it. Also looks nice to go out and about in and still stay warm. My husband agrees its fits my body a lot better than other coats I've tried on. I'm very happy I purchased this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent purchase Received my new coat the night prior to leaving for our trip to Iceland. I found the coat to be warm and comfortable to wear. We encountered both rainy and snowy days but I was never cold and the coat seemed to be waterproof or very water repellent. I would highly recommend this coat

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and stylish Love this jacket. I live in Manitoba where the winter is pretty brutal. This jacket keeps me toasty warm. And it’s stylish to boot! I also am very pleased with the arm length of this jacket. I’m a taller woman and this jacket fits awesome. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic jacket This jacket is perfect for an assortment of activities. I’ve taken it XC skiing, downhill skiing, hiking, camping. I love that it is so functional for the outdoor elements (which I spend a lot of time in) and it’s nice enough looking that I can wear it right into downtown Boise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Jacket The jacket is great!! It really does its job in keeping you warm in the coldest conditions. The hoodie is really great in covering your head when it's really windy and snowing. It has plenty of pockets to keep belongings safe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every penny This is the best winter jacket. Got it just in time for the deep freeze of 2017. In negative degree Fahrenheit with windchills of -30 Fahrenheit I was warm. As for sizing, I’m 190lbs and 5,5” and the extra large fit perfectly! The length comes just under the bum. The style is great and I’ve received many compliments. I purchased the blue colour and it almost reminds me of a grey blue. I have wanted this jacket for so long and finally splurges. So glad I did!! (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great jacket, weird story I bought this jacket for walking to class on cold days (single digits!). It is very warm, fits true to size, and is flattering not boxy. The cinching on the side is also adjustable, not just cute. It has five pockets - four on the outside and one on the inside. I am terribly short (not quite 5ft) and wanted a jacket that falls below the waist. It hangs about mid-thigh on me. I ordered the black color but received a dark lilac gray version instead (which is surprisingly beautiful, just not what I ordered). This color was not even an option when I bought the coat, so I am naturally confused how this happened. I will not be paying to ship it back - the jacket is expensive enough as it is, and I would still need a jacket. Also, no store is near me to return it in person. Additionally, when I received the jacket, the color I had actually ordered was out of stock, so I am stuck anyway. I would definitely recommend the jacket itself as it is well made, functional, and gorgeous. Just don't be surprised if you get an unlisted color that you didn't order lol! P.S. This review says incentivized, but all I did was click "write a review." I'm also not really sure what I'm getting out of this (rewards points??). For what it's worth, I always speak my mind.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Winter Coat I’m 5’10” and 160 lbs and the medium is a great fit. I always have problems with sleeve length and this jacket is perfectly long enough. The lengh of the torso is also very flattering for taller women. I got the lighter cloud color and it’s light in color but the fabric type gives me the impression it won’t get super dirty looking with everyday wear. It’s of course super warm but not too bulky. Overall a functional, stylish, and quality winter coat that should last for years to come!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing jacket! I love this jacket! I’m 5’6” and 150lbs with an athletic build. Maybe I’m just broad shouldered but I had to go up a size to a large because medium (normal size) was short on my arms when extending and left no room for anything underneath or range of motion. I got the gray/green color and it’s perfect. The pockets and great and deep and I love the length of the coat. Hood is very roomy and will keep you dry. The jacket is so warm too and the collar is super soft.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Warm coat, no perfect This coat is warm and lightweight which I like. However I ordered it in black, which turns out to be a sort of heathered dark grey, which I wasn’t expecting. The adjustable tabs on the waist and in the back of the hood don’t seem to stay where I want them, they just slide back eventually to the max adjustment because there is no snap or button. I ordered an XL because I’m tall with long arms, and that’s what the size chart said I would be. The sleeves are actually too long and the coat is roomier than I was expecting. The hood is also a bit large and floppy even after adjusting the back tab and the face framing elastic. I would have been better off in a large I suspect. I was also hoping it would be longer, but because I’m 6’ it’s not long enough to cover my bottom when I sit. The faux fur trim around the hood is not as fluffy and delux looking as it is on the website, but I do like that it’s removable. The “Sherpa” fleece on the inside collar is extremely soft, although I suspect it will start looking mangey pretty quickly. The warm & dry factor is excellent and I think overall it’s a technically good coat. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice fit. This jacket is very warm and fits very nicely. The only complaint is the front pockets, which are not comfortable to use. I feel the jacket should have slanted pockets, which feel more natural to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cute and Warm My boyfriend bought me this coat for Christmas in the gravel, and I thought the color was comparable to the picture. I am 5'5" and 135lbs. I got a size small, and there is still enough room to wear layers underneath. I put this jacket to the test and went ice fishing Christmas night in -20 degree weather and it kept me warm. The only thing that I don't like is there is no side pockets. It is just the front pockets which isn't exactly ideal for putting your hands in or storing your phone and keys. Overall though, I love this jacket!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I heart this jacket This jacket is amazing. Got it just in time for the deep freeze week here in PA. I’m 5feet, 130lbs, purchased the XS and S . Looks like I was in-between. The S was a little bit big on me for some reason. The XS is a bit more fitted, I could still get a thick sweater under it. Decided to keep the XS. Less space for wind hence keeping myself insulated. I hope that it works that way. Did a test, went out wearing just a tshirt under this jacket to move the car in -17deg cel and super windy, and walked back 10mins and was still relatively warm and I get cold easily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it times 3! I bought this coat 12/15. I was looking for a warm coat that would hold up in the rain and still have a fashionable look. It is my everyday, go to coat for all sorts of outdoor activities. When my daughters (age 22,24) asked for a coat for Christmas we decided to check out what was at Columbia. Unbeknownst to them, they independently chose the same coat. It's a great coat, and all 3 of us would highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth investing in this jacket This has to be the best winter jacket I have ever bought. I normally am always cold so I decided to invest in a higher quality coat last winter. It has a comfortable weight and does not feel heavy like some other winter gear can feel. One of my favourite things is the amount of pockets. I can easily fit my phone, gloves, or even a water bottle into the ones on front. The omni-heat is so good that on days where it isn't too cold I actually find I am too warm. I have worn it while skiing too and couldn't even notice the cold. Like some other reviewers I have noticed a few down feathers come out, but that has only happened twice in the year in a half I've owned it. I decided to buy a larger size (normally I get a S at 5'7'' and 130lbs), after reading other reviews and it allows me to wear multiple layers underneath without feeling bulky. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Barlow My wife just bought the Barlow Coat in Light Cloud and it looks beautiful on her and very warm. We are coming into the negative weather-4 degrees today Christmas Day. She loves how warm it keeps her. We are life time Columbia customers and love all your products and your customer service is the best in the USA!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality At 5’3” and 125 lbs with a slim frame a xs would have fit better planning on wearing long sleeve under most days. But I often wear a sweater/sweatshirt of some sort as well. The days I choose not to I do feel the coat could have used a little more ‘fluff’ to fill the gaps where air can get in, and it would keep me warmer. But for normal use this coat is extremely warm. There is a large quality difference between this and less expensive model coats by Columbia. After buying a new coat every year or two I am happy to say I won’t need a new one for a very long time. Lots of pockets, love the outside chest pockets especially! Hood fur could be attached in a more seamless way, and I prefer it to be fluffier to catch snow falling in my eyes. Hoping as the coat wears in the seam may relax too. But it’s not a big deal if it doesn’t.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Next Level of Quality and Warmth This was my first Columbia coat purchase, and I am so glad I finally invested in a Columbia Jacket. I have generally always bought cheap, no-name coats, and they had never kept me warm enough, but I figured that's just how coats are. Was I ever wrong! From the moment I put on the Barlow Pass 550 TurboDown, I knew what I had been missing. The coat instantly impresses with its flexibility. While still feeling substantial and weighty, movement is not restricted by bulk so the coat is highly functional. This coat is also insanely warm, yet somehow, it never seems to overheat you. It almost seems "smart" to the temperature; despite not being too hot in an 70 degree apartment, it was also perfectly toasty when I wore it outside in 30 degree weather. It seems to almost adapts to the external temperature and your body heat. The design is also impeccable. There are sleeve cuffs inside the outer shell that pull around your wrists, locking in the hot air. Its a brilliant way to keep you warm. I bought the 'Light Cloud' color, and it looks better than in the pictures. Light Cloud is a nice off-white that looks crisp and clean without being so bold that it makes you stand out in a crowd. The coat is true to size with a caveat. Your size will not allow for much layering beneath the coat, but the good news is that if you are wearing this coat, you are going to be so warm that you won't need all those extra layers. For reference, I comfortably fit a t-shirt, hoodie, and scarf under my size Small, but I suspect anymore might start to feel puffy. Lastly, this coat is great for tall individuals or people with long arms. At 5'9" this coat gives me the perfect arm length, excellent breadth in the shoulders, and comes down right around hip level. If you struggle with finding those extra inches, this coat is a great solution. Overall, I would recommend this coat to anyone who wants the utmost in warmth, flexibility, and style. Now that I've bought Columbia, I won't be going back!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Uncomfortable and not as warm as stated I was so ready to love this coat, but in the end I couldn't make it work, so returned it. I realize warmth is subjective and I am always on the cold side, so I was really looking forward to replacing my old winter coat with one that sounded so warm. The first thing I noticed when I put it on was that the collar didn't fold flat (I guess because of the hood) and it was hitting me in the chin and face. There are snaps on the collar which are metal - and cold - and just plain in the way. The collar is very soft and warm when extended all the way up, which is great, but I don't want it like that all of the time and it was just not functional for me. Second, for reasons I cannot explain my arms were always cold in this coat. My core stayed perfectly cozy, but my extremities were not. It felt like there was airflow going through the sleeves. The cuffs were nice and snug so that wasn't the issue. I tried wearing a variety of different shirts and sweaters underneath thinking I was overdressing or under dressing. I just couldn't keep my arms warm which made the rest of me cold. I tried very hard to make this work - wore it several times in cold and moderately cold weather and was either too cold or couldn't deal with the collar annoyance. There's lots to love about the coat - tons of pockets, waterproof, insulated, and adjustments galore, but unfortunately for me it missed the mark on the basics.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love Quality coat throughout with many subtle, stylish details. Includes fabulously roomy pockets in front that don't stand out, and zippered pocket at breast inside coat. Has my preferred length in the back. I have been looking for a warm coat for three years that matched my style preferences. Finally found. I chose the pond-colored version per my ususal preferences, but almost chose Columbia's muted chalk color after trying on another coat at store. It's actually a very cool-looking color when wearing. I spent a lot of time figuring out if I should choose a medium or large. This coat was not available locally to try on. I tried others that were in stock locally and from that experience decided a medium would be best fit. It was, and without feeling tight in any way. I am 5' 11" petite-boned, normal weight, but larger waist than the size chart for medium. I have long arms and so love that the sleeves fit properly. You can always roll back if they don't. The fabric surface is classy, not artificial-feeling, and perfect for helping to keep clean. The hood's fur is detachable. Prior, I was cold at work and could not find a warm enough coat without layering. Wearing this at work has kept me feeling at an ideal temperature. I am another proud Pac NW-er who has been living elsewhere in U.S. (i.e. "abroad") for many years. Love how so much of the highest quality, smartest stuff comes from the home country.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warmth Worth Every Penny I was skeptical about spending the money and not so sure about the material of the coat. I didn't want it to look "cheap" or feel uncomfortable. Now that I've had it for 2 weeks, I have absolutely no regrets or buyers remorse about my purchase! It keeps me warm without feeling like the kid from A Christmas Story! I live in Portland so the fabric is prime for rainy days. The color is the perfect balance of not too army green and not totally charcoal. The lining around the interior of the collar is super soft and doesn't irritate your chin, lots of pockets and the little details like the leather Columbia patch set it apart!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Stylish, lightweight I wanted a stylish, but warm and waterproof jacket. This fit my expectations. 5'1, 110 lbs petite girl and XS fit well. It's warm but I think I will still be layering, as usual, during the winter. I'm excited to use this for skiing as well. The Light cloud color is beautiful. However, it is a bit darker than in the photos, which is what I prefer anyway, so it won't look too white.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very warm! This jacket is great for those really cold, -15 or below days. It's quite warm, so I wouldn't wear it when it's only a little bit chilly out, but this will be essential for getting through the worst of the Canadian winter. I love the cuffs on the sleeves that keep the cold off my wrists, and the fact that everything can be adjusted to make it even more snug if you want. I also love that the neck is lined with soft fleece, so when you zip the coat all the way up, there's soft warm stuff around your neck! The only thing I could wish for is that it was a tiny bit longer - my legs tend to get cold too, and it would be nice if this coat came down to mid-thigh or even just above the knee. Still, very glad to have it, as it'll keep me nice and warm this winter! (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOMEN’S BARLOW PASS 550 TURBODOWN™ JACKET I love this coat!! It is extremely warm and stylish. It covers my bum but it isn't as low as your average parka, which makes it easier to move about. I am 5'5, 120 lbs. 34B, waist 27". I ordered a medium and it's perfect for wearing with or without layering. The sleeve length is good and I have somewhat long arms. I love the hood and the deep pockets in the front. The "gravel"color is a beautiful grayish green. I highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable I absolutely love this jacket! Where I’m from it never snows or gets below 30 degrees. I’m moving to Massachusetts in January and needed a nice thick coat to get me through the winter. Not only am I impressed by the way it looks, but it’s also very comfy and I can move in it. Being a busty girl, it’s hard to find jackets that fit me in the waist and in my chest. I love that the waist cinches so it flatters my figure but also that it zips past my chest and still has a lot of room for me to move in the arms. I can already tell that this jacket will keep me warm through the winter and I’m excited to go test it out in the snow. Also I saw reviews that people didn’t like the front pockets, but in my opinion they aren’t bad. The pockets are very wide so it doesn’t really feel awkward to keep yours hands in the pockets. This jacket is awesome

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Returned because of fit and color My wife was looking for a white coat and really liked the way this on looked on line but when she received it the "LIGHT CLOUD" is was more grey/silver. In addition, the size was smaller than expected. If you regularly wear a large you may consider getting the extra large.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from True to it's reputation My wife bought a 550TD a few days ago. She goes for her daily walk of 2 km, in any weather. It was -12 C this morning with 50/60 km wind gusts. To our surprise, she was kept warm and cozy while wearing nothing but a T-Shirt underneath. Not only do we strongly recommend it, I'll be looking for something similar for myself. Rated 3 out of 5 by from The “Black” color looks grey I was very disappointed by this jacket. The photo online looked like a black jacket with a light grey neck liner. The jacket that arrived in the mail, however, looked very different. The jacket looked like a slate grey.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from better Minnesota wear I purchased this parka for walking my dog in Minnesota winter. One feature I looked for was to have my butt covered (don't laugh :) and this does. The pocket height/angle will need getting accustomed to, no big deal. I really wish the upper arms were better lined as that's the only part of me gets cold. So far -- very cold & wind is yet to come. Started with a small that fit like a coat, traded for a medium which leaves room for a sweatshirt. No matter how warm the parka layers are a necessity when walking a dog that doesn't want to go inside.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Looking Coat I love the look of this coat. Winter is just starting here and so far it feels warm enough (-10c) however the wind does whip up the coat. I wish that it had a snowguard inside it. The pockets are only accessible from the top too which can feel quite awkward. I love the fleece around the collar, it keeps me nice and toasty. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good down jacket Haven’t worn those outside yet so I can’t say how warm it is but I love the look of the fabric and the jacket. Not too bulky or heavy. My only complaint would be the plastic zipper is but I know they probably had to cut costs somewhere. I think it would definitely be worth the price.
