Women’s Heavyweight II Baselayer Long Sleeve Half Zip Shirt is rated out of 5 by 36.
Rated 5 out of 5 by DonutRNR from SO Warm!! I wouldn't have made it through the night without this top! I love the fact that it has Omni-heat technology and uses my own body heat to keep me warm, particularly at night when it's 38* and you're sleeping in a tent. The tops are comfortable, relaxed. This model allows to zip up/down quarter way so you can air out a little if you need to cool off some. Sometimes I wear a tank under it versus direct body contact - like my own temp control. Thumb holes are nifty. I'm so glad I discovered these from Columbia! (Yes, plural. I have a few!)

Rated 5 out of 5 by lkaren from Warm and Comfortable I hesitated about the size after reading the reviews but went ahead and ordered the small because I wanted to layer it for a backpacking trip to Italy. I typically wear a small but occasionally need to go up to medium. I am 5'8" and weigh about 127. The small does fit close to the body, but not uncomfortably so and the arms with thumb holes fit perfectly and I have long arms. If you don't want the top to fit too closely you might want a medium. I live in Minnesota so warm is good! I actually tried to order more because I am very happy with it, but currently not available.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Russell22 from Baselayer Love the thumb holes. It is light weight and warm. Fits snug. If you don’t like your clothes to fit tight then size up on the product. It is a great snug fit though for layering and keeping body heat in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Cathy13 from Warm, Neat Looking Comfy After Work Shirt Wanted to be warm and look 1/2 decent after getting home from work instead of baggy fleece. This does just that and looks good to go out in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sheryl0930 from Great base layer I confess I'm obsessed with Omni-heat and thrilled to have them as my new base layer. Why? They work to keep my own heat in and I'm toasty and warm versus cranky and cold! I ordered the small and it fits perfect. My usual pant size is 4 or 6.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jcam from Great Thermal, Runs small This is a great product to wear underneath ski gear. It does keep you warm, but not warm enough if this was the only thing you were wearing to ski in. It does run on the smaller size (especially under the arms), and I wear a small for a top regularly. However it is comfortable, great color and awesome for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ida47 from Very comfortable and warm I bought a shirt like this several years ago and the fabric has changed so it isn’t quite aswarm for those of you who also have one but it is still warm, especially considering how light weight it is. Just be aware it does run small unless you like your clothes tight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Wingless from My favorite winter base layer, hands down. This shirt reduces the amount/bulk of layers I need under coats. I wear it under various coats, including an old Columbia 650 turbodown coat when temps drop below 20 degrees F. This gives me 2 layers of Omni-Heat, with just a basic-weight sweater in between to help trap my body heat. As long as I move around—just walking does the trick—I stay warm. If I get too warm, I just unzip the shirt a bit to vent some heat. (Heh, in these temps, I can count the number of times I’ve done that on one hand.) Normally I’d complain about the lack of petite sizes, because super long arms and shirt hems are often annoying. But this shirt fits so close to the body, the extra length isn’t problematic for me. Besides, I kinda like that the hem covers my butt in cold weather. The upper arms are a bit snug on me, almost like a compression-fit workout top (not really that tight though, at least not to me), but the raglan sleeve design helps me feel more comfy and gives me full range of motion—so I never feel like there’s a ton of tight, bunched-up fabric in my armpits. The Omni-Heat lining never feels itchy against my skin. That’s saying a lot, because various things make me itchy, including most clothing tags. This shirt has 3 long tags on the bottom left side, and I normally cut those out. The tag on the top collar is a bonded sticker type of thing and it never irritates me. I’ve seen it start to peel off a couple of my older shirts, after so many washings. There’s no Omni-Heat lining on the cuffs, so don’t rely on them to keep your hands very warm. I do use the thumb holes when I just need something over my hands very briefly, perhaps while holding a cup of coffee outdoors at a bus stop when I see the bus coming and remove my gloves to get my fare card ready. On the back of the collar, the phrase “MAKE YOUR OWN HEAT” is printed right near the top. That doesn’t bug me at all, and it’s usually covered up anyway. But it’s something to be aware of if you’re not cool with people reading that on the nape of your neck. I’ve been a fan of these shirts for a few years now. They hold up great to lots of wear and washing. The only reason I buy replacements is my shrinking size: I give my now-too-big used tops away and buy the next size down for myself. I never want to spend a Chicago winter without at least 3 of these shirts in regular rotation.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Lisa38 from its snug i was wanting to wear this as a casual shirt so i found it too form fitting for my tastes. I bought a large a few years ago for curling but found it way too big. This time i ordered a medium and found it way too small. If i was only going to use it as a base layer it would have been fine. I returned it and unfortunately a larger size was not available. I loved color so i am hoping i see it again next year. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by LS584 from Does what it says :) I brought this specifically for a snowboarding trip on NYE for which the forecast was -7 + a crazy windchill. People thought I was nuts to go but this, along with the balaclava I bought for the same reason kept me really comfortable. With a fleece and my outer jacket I was able to play on he slopes all night. Very happy with this!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Active757 from Favorite base layer Fits perfect, does not ride up, I have long arms, the thumb holes fit perfectly, I have a long torso it goes over my pants, I stay warm working outdoors whether is a run or hike. Highly recommend to all my friends, this is my second base layer of this type.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Happycustomer7 from Love the omniheat The shirt is nice and will definitely keep you warmer than the same thing without the omniheat lining. It would be great if they had a petite line. The shirt is great for under a Work shirt when it gets cold but you don’t want the bulk of most shirts. I have purchased both the men’s and women’s to wear at my outdoor security job. My only complaint is that the arms are very tight even when I go up a size in both men’s and women’s.

Rated 5 out of 5 by KfromVB from Super warm! Every year I try to get at least 1-2 of these tops to replace cotton turtlenecks & other baselayers I have. I'm 5'4" with heels, not quite 100 lbs & am a 32B through the chest. I usually have problems getting tops that fit my torso to be long enough in the arms, but with Columbia, I never have that problem. I usually get a small in most tops from Columbia so I have a little give room. These keep me toasty, look good & are comfortable. I love the thumb holes! I wish everything had them. You don't have to worry about the sleeves bunching up when putting on another layer, & when your hands start to get chilly, just pull the sleeve over your hand & thumbs without the need for gloves. When it gets colder, use the thumb holes to keep the wind out when you put on your Columbia gloves! No one notices that they are baselayers. I only wish they came in more colors. The Omni-Heat really makes a huge difference in how warm the clothing is! This is an amazing product! It keeps you warm but not too warm. It's thin but not too thin. You can regulate the temperature by the zipper. I have no problems wearing these inside either. None of my Columbia gear had worn out, & I've had my first jacket for well over 6 years!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Oklahoma22 from Fits well I haven’t had a chance to really test the warmth, although when I was trying this on in my apartment I did get pretty toasty. I bought a medium, I am 5’9”, 34 DD, 150 pounds and it fit perfectly.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Cleomax from A little disappointed :-( I read online that this baselayer ran a little small, so I looked at the size chart and ordered a size large. It's much too large. Worse, I was expecting it to keep me toasty while skiing, and it doesn't. Not toasty. Not warm. No better than my much less expensive baselayer that I was wearing before. So, although the quality of the construction and the look are lovely, I'm disappointed that it doesn't fit as I was led to believe and certainly doesn't deliver in terms of the warmth I was expecting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CJ99 from Great cold weather baselayer I liked this so much, I bought another right away. I can wear just this with a soft shell jacket on a 20 degree day and be perfectly comfortable on my walk. I'm 5'6", size 6 with broad shoulders and long arms. The medium was just right for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Huan from it's true to size. I read the review and bought one size up. But it's then too large for me. PUt it here to remind the later buyers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RVABabe from A little small, but assume it will stretch. I have an older version of small, and this is cut a little tighter, esp the sleeves and underarms. The fabric is ribbed and very strong, but I assume garment will relax with time. Love purple color. If you're not quite a "true" size, consider going a size up. Runs a little small= did not return it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Megs84 from Comfortable base layer top This top is a great baselayer, super comfy and warm. This runs very true to size for me. I am 5'6", 130lbs and am always in the small size range. All the reviews stated this item ran very small and to order up a size so I got a medium first, it was huge!! Billowing sleeves and super baggy in the body. I exchanged for a small and it's perfect. It could even be a bit more form hugging around the mid section as these type of tops are supposed to be almost a compression fit, but I think that will give it room to layer over a sport tank. I haven't tested it in cold conditions yet but am headed to Zion next week for New Years and will get lots of use out of it there. Should be perfect!

Rated 2 out of 5 by windupwendy from Very tight fit I just bought a size S hoodie at a Columbia store and it is loose on me. I bought a pair of M base layer bottoms which fit fine and thought I could grab the M top. When I got home I realized I hadn't tried the top on, which turns out was a huge mistake. I'm surprised by how all over the place Columbia's sizing is; at least when I was at the store I was able to easily grab another size when predicted sizes didn't fit (a pair of leggings that would have been S in another brand I had to get in L, e.g.). I am about to head somewhere very cold and unfortunately the Columbia store is an hour drive away, so I guess I will just have to do without a thermal top. I'm usually a size S or M in shirts, but I would call this more of an XS. It's very tight across the bust and uncomfortably tight over my arms. There is little give to the fabric. I wish I could try on a L and XL but unfortunately it's too late. Columbia makes great gear but I've learned the lesson that you *have to* try it on first due to their unpredictable sizing. It's strange that I'd fit most comfortably in an XS hoodie and XL thermal top.

Rated 4 out of 5 by clotheshorse2 from Not what I needed I did not realize this was a bottom layer for outdoor sports and what I needed was a top to wear with or without a vest. The fit of the medium for my 5'4" 36C was too snug for my purpose but but would have been fine as an undergarment for skiing or hiking. The length was long, but would have stayed tucked in nicely and I love having thumb holes in tops to keep my hands warmer in cold weather.

Rated 4 out of 5 by CatElmrk from Happy with Heavyweight II In my opinion, this Heavyweight II layer has/can: - a nice deep purple colour (is consistent as shown in the product image) - provide enough warmth for doing your favourite snowsports/activity in places at slightly higher elevation (e.g., snowboarding/skiing in the cold Whistler weather) - (XS heavyweight) more room, and not as skin-hugging, compared to the XS mid-weight long-sleeve which I bought two years ago. Though, I prefer the omni-heat side closer to my skin like the mid-weight...this heavyweight isn't baggy nor too loose either. This is still a staple piece which I would recommend to most.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Suyo from Warm I have the purple. It is a beautiful color. The sizing is very small. I usually wear a small and buy a medium when I want it looser. The medium is very snug. It snags easily. The velcro on my ski jacket snagged up the sleeve near the thumb holes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ColoradoMom from Feels Tight in Sleeves I really like Columbia products, however, as in previous reviews, I have to say that their tops consistently run small. I'm 5' and have a 36DD chest. It seems like Columbia creates tops to fit tall, skinny ladies so as a lady who is short, curvy and isn't very "lean" I have to order XL tops to fit my chest but then the sleeves and length are long. The extra length doesn't bother me as it helps keep the top tucked in but the sleeves bunch under a jacket. The sleeves also feel tight in the lower arm. The performance of the top is good. I stayed warm during a cold, windy snowshoe hike. I'm a big fan of the Omni Heat products. It wasn't quite as wicking as I'd like but it could have been due to other layers I was wearing over the base layer. The dog jumped up on me and snagged the material but by the nature of the fabric I don't think that could be helped. The Inkling color is very nice and I received a lot of compliments on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MarBel from Runs small!! I wear an XS in everything at Columbia. Ordered this knowing it might be a bit more snug, but it was very small! (I'm 5-1, 115, curvy build). Had to send it back, there was no way!!
