Women’s Hexbreaker™ Long Down Jacket is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 90.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for my needs I live in GA so I do not have much need for such a heavy coat, but I do have family in the Midwest and after several winters without haveing a coat when visiting them I finally bought this one. This winter it got rather cold in GA so I was able to get more then a few days of use out of the coat, so here is my review. The coat was very was and comfortable (only got to the teens here). It was good at holding the wind at bay as well! (Was in MN for a weeks and it was crazy windy, with temp in the negitives) The coat also works well with temps in the fourties. Keeping it unzipped, it did not overheat me! Ok, now for the things I dont like... I have notice a bunch of feathers that come out from all over, but am hoping that there are enough in the coat that this won’t matter too much. I do not like that the wind flap (not sure if that is the correct name) that is held by velcro, it pops open very easily, and if you are just trying it do a quick close on the coat without zipping the coat, it does not stay closed!! And lastly I think it would be nice if the coat had those thumb wholes to keep the sleeves down while your doing activities. All in all, I love the coat and look forward to using it for years to come!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and Ultra Stylish I love the fit of this coat. It is super warm - perfect for Chicago winters. I still looks nice over any outfit - dress or jeans which is very important to me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I LOVE THIS JACKET I would definitely recommend this jacket to anyone who lives in a cold state. As a Wisconsin girl myself, I know cold and I know this coat will keep your entire torso warm. The hood is great too because you can singe it to fit your head.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classy and functional I love this coat. I have owned this exact coat in the past, and bought another identical one to it after two years of use. My only complaint is that the fabric is a little thin, making it easy to tear, which is why I purchased another one to replace the one that was damaged.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very warm and lightweight Long length is great for stopping updrafts. Jacket is not bulky, but still very warm due to the use of the omni heat reflective dots. I got a size up to allow some extra space, plus make it easier to walk. Has 2 zippered external pockets and 1 internal zippered pocket. Hood is removable. There is an internal drawstring at waist level, to cinch that area tighter if you prefer. Great jacket for MN winters. Would definitely recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great jacket This jackets is honestly perfect. Keeps me warm but is also stylish. I can function perfectly in this jacket and I find myself very warm while my friends are shivering in the cold. Definitely recommend it's worth the money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pockets are too small I love everything about this jacket except the front pockets are too small/shallow. I don't have large hands, but my hands don't stay warm in the pockets. I also have a large phone and it barely fits in the pocket. It's also hard to have my phone in my pocket AND keep my hand warm in it. I just wish this jacket had deeper, larger front pockets. Other than the pocket issue, the jacket has a cute fit, looks nice, and is very warm! I am almost always a size small, but I ended up purchasing this jacket in an XS because it was more slimming without hindering my arm/shoulder mobility.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing For Cold Michigan Winters Completely in LOVE with this coat! It's so light weight but extremely warm! The only thing I can say that I don't like about it, is that it shed's feathers a little and they get on your clothes sometimes. But overall I love it!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Seemed great at first, loses feathers I will start by saying that I really like the feel of this coat and the warmth. I have two kids so I am constantly running around with them and need to bend over all of the time to pick them up. This coat is a perfect combination of fitted for a flattering look, but loose enough to give me room to move freely around. I also love how light it is. I don't feel like I am wearing anything when it is on, but it is very warm. I live in Michigan and it keeps me plenty warm. The part that I don't like about this coat and has me considering returning it is that it sheds feathers...everywhere. I find them in my car, on my backpack, in the closet. It isn't a ton of them, but it is enough to be annoying. They poke out of the coat and I can pull them out. The other thing that I don't like about this coat is that the pockets are small. With kids, I need large (or at least regular sized) pockets to shove things into. Today my phone just fell out of the pocket and into the snow when I bent down to pick up my 1 year old. This doesn't happen on other jackets I own. If I have gloves in there, I can't really fit anything else. They are just much smaller than I need them to be and smaller than what I am used to in other jackets. As much as I love the feel of the jacket, I think that these two issues are going to force me to return the jacket and look elsewhere for a similar jacket. One with less shedding and larger pockets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this coat! I have been shopping for a jacket for several weeks, trying on at least 20 puffer coats. This coat is perfect because it is longer and when you sit down, it covers your bottom. This is my 2nd Columbia jacket with "Omni-Heat" and this feature keeps you warm without adding bulk. Also, I like the velcro because it is a quick way to close the front of the jacket. The sleeves are long and have an inside cuff. I am 5' 9' and 152 lbs, with long arms. Highly recommend!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very warm I just got this coat and it has proven to be very warm. It has lost a few down feathers so far but I am hoping that is just due to it being brand new.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great light weight but warm jacket! Great coat for windy winter days in Michigan. I like how lightweight the jacket is. I’m 5’0 100lbs and the jacket hits me below the knees and I have room to later underneath - size XS. I’d buy it again, I wear it daily!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Love my jacket. Ordered two different brands but kept the Columbia because it kept my legs warmer. The other brand allowed too much cold air to get trapped under the coat. I did order up a size to make sure I could wear thicker sweaters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect I bought this coat for my adult daughter. It looks fabulous on her, and fits perfectly. She is a very fit 5'3' and I got her a medium. She has room for a sweater under it,but still as a fitted look. It is not bulky. She reports that it is very warm, and she is always cold. We are both very happy with this purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super Warm But Dog Nail Punctured Hole I LOVE this coat! I had bought a similar coat at REI but I FROZE the first time I wore it. I returned it and researched various brands and read reviews. My current coat I have had for twenty years and my kids said I said to get a new one. I picked this one as I highly value and trust Columbia's name. I loved it. So warm! I am a real estate agent and showing properties and land can be cold. I wore it for the first time and a dog walked by in the mountains and jumped up on me and popped a hole right in the front. I nearly cried! I am worried that the fabric is too thin and will snag or get holes more easily. I know others have mentioned the material. Columbia is going to see about doing a repair on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Jacket I purchased this jacket for my wife and she absolutely loves it. It's very warm, especially when considering how light the jacket is. The overall quality of the jacket appears good, with the occasional down feather poking through (but not too many). Given its warmth, fit, and style I'd rate this jacket as excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and Ultra Lightweight I purchased this coat to replace my Columbia Hex coat when the zipper broke. I was really disappointed as I loved my Hex coat. But was over the moon when my new coat arrived. It is super soft and so much lighter than my previous coat. And of course the omni heat and insulation make it incredibly warm. I was out it -8 degrees and was completely comfortable. I did order a size up (normally I wear a L) and got the XL. I have plenty of room for a sweatshirt or sweater and still have ample room to move around without feeling constricted.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Down Feathers Out of Stitching Let me start that I love this jacket-- it is warm, it is the perfect, long length, and it's not bulky, but rather is slightly form fitting. I have the perfect amount of room in this and the sleeve spandex-like material that you can pull out at the bottom some fits great over gloves. HOWEVER, for a jacket of this price I should not have down feathers bleeding out and sticking to my clothes. It is not out of every seam, but every day that I wear this jacket from 1/06/18, not even a month of wear in it, I have to pull out feathers that are sticking out or they just come out. This is a disappointing quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product has great quality This coat has great features. It is lightweight but very warm. The soft material in the cuffs feels great and keeps cold wind out. The fitted waist makes you look thinner but allows room for layering. The removable hood fits great as well. Does not hang over your eyes as some hoods do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Bitter Cold Chicago Weather Bought this coat for my 16 yr old. She's 5'5" & 115 lbs. and wears a Medium. She loves how lightweight it is and how warm it is keeping her. We've had a horrible stretch of really frigid temps here in Chicago (-14 degrees windchill) and this coat fits the bill. The detachable hood is a nice touch as she usually wears a knit cap instead of a hood. Nice and compact size so it fits into her school locker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy and warm! This is the best coat I have ever had! I wanted warm, but not bulky, stylish and functional. I got it all with this coat. I have found over the years you just can't beat Columbia! Their coats are easy to wear, wash and last forever! I am so excited for winter this year because of this light weight, wonderful, form-fitting, cozy coat. I want everyone in my family to have one! Thank-you Columbia!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tapered I ordered this coat in a Large and it fit perfectly in the shoulders and hips, but was tapered in the waist and I could not wear anything under it. I recommend purchasing it one size larger than you normally wear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Winter Coat for Minnesota! I first got this jacket for my sister-in-law who lives in Minnesota. The following year both her daughters wanted the same coat and proclaim it is the perfect coat for their winters there! This year I bought one for my own daughter who chose to go to college there as well to help her stay active outside:)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Down Coat I received my coat and it fit perfectly. I live overseas so having an item be true to size as is critical. The coat is well made and I love the retro squares! The thermal foil inside is a plus and since I have other Columbia poducts with this lining, I was glad to find a Down coat with this insulation feature. The longer length is perfect for those cold, snowy days!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hexbreaker down coat Pros: this coat is very lightweight, & warm. Cons: zipper gets stuck constantly, feathers started to fall out the second time I wore it! Also, the velcro closures are very annoying - the get caught in everything! Good thing this item was on sale, would have returned it at full price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a Great Coat I live in the midwest, where it gets pretty darn cold. This coat will carry me through the extreme cold. It's incredibly lightweight but so warm. The mineshaft color is so pretty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compliments abound I recently bought this coat for my wife. Every time she wears it, I get a continual stream of "Thank You's" and how much she loves the coat. Its light and super warm. The varying size of the quilting pattern is great for slimming a down coat.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm and stylish coat Meets all my expectations. Runs true to size. Warm and stylish. Love the cuffs, lined pockets and zippers on the pockets. All in all a great coat. Deducting one star because it's a bit tricky to zipper. Keeps getting caught on the inside flap. Otherwise, keeps me warm while walking the dog when it's about 20 degrees out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nicely form fitting coat I bought this coat for my wife. She is thrilled with this coat. It is extremely warm, and very firm fitting and attractive. I would recommend it highly for the bitter cold.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Improvement idea for all Columbia jackets I have really enjoyed the lightweight warmth of the coat. The improvement I speak of is related to the Velcro to keep the outside of the coat closed, it rubs and catches on clothing when carrying or when putting on, snaps would be much better. Have found this to be true on the one purchase just prior for my family member. Velcro is very annoying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this jacket I love this jacket. It’s As I have seen it written online the inner Omi-Heat lining that is shown in the attached picture looks like a space suit. The whole jacket feels like that to me, very light for its size but is really warm and so comfortable to wear. My jacket appears to be a later version since the Omni-heat lining comes up right below the collar (I have attached a photo). The photo from Colubmia shows the metallic lining finishes some distance away from the collar. That extra bit of lining probably makes the jacket even better. I admit I enjoy putting the jacket on, zipping up, clipping the snapper on the hem closed and fastening the Velcro storm flap. You feel like you’re going to space with the length and protection this jacket offers. I bought it in a size medium and like that it still has room to manoeuvre underneath. I can wear my business suit jacket underneath or even add a thick down vest when it’s particularly cold. I'm a UK size 12 and the medium fits me perfectly. I’m 5’11” and it comes down almost to my knees. I almost always fully zip the jacket when I’m wearing it, that way I don’t need a scarf and it keeps the wind completely out. After all you’re wearing a long Winter jacket for a reason right? The thickly padded collar is super smooth on the inside; when fully zipped, it touches my neck and covers/touches my chin and that’s a wonderful feeling. Since buying it last month I have worn it a lot and have had many compliments on it. My friends can be very tactile. This jackets nylon is super smooth and I love touching it. My friends do too (even with me wearing it!) and rubbing their hands flat against the thick silver Omni-Heat “pillows” inside the jacket. During the first few days of owning it, it was like a fashion show with the large number of requests to try it on. They asked nicely and I let them, everybody loves it! The waist cinch cord is useful to add more warmth when it’s windy. When cinched, it looks more stylish and maybe even a little bit sexy. As other reviewers, have pointed out, the zipper can be difficult to get started and I occasionally do have to try 2 to 3 times but with practice I can now usually I can get it first time. With the recent cold and snowy weather, here in Europe; when I come home from work I often leave the jacket on while the house warms up. In the late evenings, I sometimes use it as a blanket or even put it on if it’s getting chilly. If I’m cold at night, I occasionally sleep in the jacket (it’s a guilty pleasure of mine). On cold weekend mornings, I often slip it on first thing after getting out of bed (if I’m not already wearing it!), it’s like taking your duvet with you. After receiving some advice I can now cinch/tighten the hood and it now stays on even in the wind. Its comfortable and keeps me warm and dry. I just wish it had the same amount of down as the rest of the jacket and had the Omni-Heat lining. I really don’t like when the wind gets up your sleeves or into your gloves but that never happens with this jacket. The elastic like material at the end of the sleeves is amazing. It completely keeps the cold and wind out of my sleeves/gloves. Add to that the Omni-heat lining of the sleeves and my ski gloves and you have one seriously warm jacket. I’m deducting a quality star since a little more feathers come out than I would like but it’s not too bad. The pockets are really warm with their soft lining and absorb your body heat from the baffles on the front of the jacket (inside and out). If you don't find this review useful, please leave a comment why and I'll try to answer it for you. Thanks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Jacket My son got an Omni Heat technology jacket for Christmas and that made me come to Columbia to get one of my own, as I was already planning to retire my current jacket and because I was surprised how warm the shiny dots made me feel! The Hexbreaker is toasty and good looking, but, I am taking a star away because the pockets could be a bit deeper and the hood a bit larger. Also, I wish the down wouldn't poke out as much. Overall I am very happy with my purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Coat Love the look. 2 major things I would change: better zippers. They get stuck often trying to zip up the jacket. I would also put buttons instead of velcro along the side of the main zipper because the velcro gets stuck to everything! My hat, scarf, etc. And even it just sitting or hanging the Velcro gets caught on things around it. Overall, it keeps me warm and is a good looking coat.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from QUESTION!?!?! Love the coat! Thin, warm, etc. HOWEVER - I cannot for the life of me understand how to use the adjustable waist! I need it to be brought in, but the way it is set up makes no sense - pull it in, but nothing secures it from going back out..... ANY TIPS???

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect for a cold dry day in Portland I have a really hard time fitting into jackets but this one fits me perfectly! It was the only one in store and I love it. I tried on the voodoo long jacket and had to go up a size and it was still a little small. The only problem I have with the jacket is the down comes out of it every time I wear it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it I received my coat about three weeks ago. Prior to purchasing, I had researched many coats that were similar to this. I wanted one that would keep me warm in the Michigan winters. This coat does just that and fits great. I am 5'5 and 120ibs and ordered a medium, which fits great. I love that you can take in the middle part of the coat for a fitted look. There are a few things that could use improvements, however. I wanted a coat that had a hood, but I am not a fan of this one, I feel that it is too small. Also, I've only had the coat for three weeks, and feathers are already coming out. The coat feels very thin, so I was worried at first that it wouldn't be warm enough, but it is! I am always so cold during the winter, so I thought I'd spend a little extra money on a nice coat. This does the job and I would recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from a must have Finally a coat that does the job of keep me warm and dry during those nasty winter days. This is the best investment I have made for myself. I gave away my old coat. I have an immune disorder and the cold weather makes it more painful to have a normal routine. This coat was the answer to my prayers. I live in Northern Indiana, in the bowlineline between Chicago IL and Indiana. We get the same weather and its a killer. I do not longer have to worry about staying warm and suffering throughout the winter while wearing multiple layers plus a random coat.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it Love this jacket. Great length, sooo warm and looks nice. It was a bit roomier than I expected, I could have gotten a medium but the large gives me enough room to put heavy clothes underneath. The only reason I kept one star out is because the outside material can be snagged or ripped pretty easy. It's a very thin poly layer but the insulation is great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprisingly warm, esp for the weight! I took this coat to Iceland and Alaska in February, and found it kept me surprisingly warm. It's not a heavy coat, and I was a little concerned that I'd be cold even though it has the Omni-heat lining. I'm quite happy with it. Also, it's white (not a great idea for me), and it needed washing quickly. Fortunately, it also washed easily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from just what I was looking for This coat is warm and offers full coverage, which is exactly what I was looking for. The length is flattering and his just above the knee in front. It can be dressed up or down. Very warm and cozy for my Northern Michigan winters!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super warm and functional I love this coat. It is so lightweight, yet extemely warm. I am 5'11 so I decided to get and XL for length but I have lots of room and could comfortable worn a L so I would call it true to size, also there is a waist cincher so it still looks fashionable. I love that the pockets have a warm lining. The only thing I have noticed is the down feathers tend to come out so that is why I lowered the quality rating
Date published: 2016-02-14
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Tears way too easily I loved this coat. It is very warm (even more so when your skin is in contact with the Omniheat lining) and even in a blizzard you don't get wet. However, simple snow tore the coat. I slipped and fell during a blizzard and landed in a mound of snow. That was enough to tear the material. Feathers are now everywhere and I have a huge gaping tear in the sleeve. I bought it for nearly $300 so it's a bit much to just have snow rip it! I'm very unhappy about how poor the quality is!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from subpar Bought this product last year and tried it in cold weather a couple of times. I thought it was great... at first. Now I live full time in Chicago and it is just not cutting it. as the temperature dropped and the wind picked up, I slowly realized this coat would not be enough. the omni heat lining only works if you're really out moving around. otherwise, the wind cuts right through it. The cinch waist does not stay cinched. All of the zipper get stuck so easily I'm constantly getting stuck in my coat. This just isn't the coat I expected it to be. Currently in the market for a better one
