Rated 3 out of 5 by Artie17 from once my favorite I have 2 pairs of the green masochists and wanted to get a new pair, but green has been out for some time now. I broke down and got the black/blue pair. To my surprise, the greens actually blend with my wardrobes better, but I wanted to give the new shoes a chance. They have higher arches and they also have a very slight rise from heel to toe. The upshot is the shoe feels narrower than my greens and hurts my feet. I will continue to wear my greens and the new pair may find a home in my closet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by OwnedByDoberman from Best Trail Running Shoe ever! I love this shoe! I have narrow feet and it fits me so well. I walk my big, energetic dog 8 - 10 miles a day and the shoe holds up great to all the miles. It's comfortable right out of the box and just gets better as I put the miles on. Please don't ever change the Mountain Masochist, it's one wonderful shoe!

Rated 5 out of 5 by JeannieO from Attractive and functional I like this shoe and would order it again, in spite of the fact that I am returning it. The size is just a bit short, even with thin socks. I previously owned a different model of Columbia shoes, which I bought at a retail store, and have worn them for more than a year, mostly on city streets. I hope that my next pair is as satisfactory as my first.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mooshie from Best Trail Running Shoe I have been using this shoe for the past 2 years and I have not been injured every since. They are comfortable, practical, good toe protection for more technical runs, good arch support and they last a long time with heavy use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MarjieW from Love at first sight! A different shoe caught my eye in the window of a mountaineering store in Jackson, WY but when I went in I saw these. Love the color, they cost less and the salesman said they had a wider toe box than the other pair. When I tried them on they felt great. No breaking in needed. The cushion in the heel is especially comfortable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Wildknits from Updated brand name leads to change in sizing?? I have been wearing the Mountain Masochist shoes for years and always in a size 7. They are great for the technical rooty, rocky, and occasionally muddy trails in Northern Minnesota. The materials hold up well (my previous shoes have nearly 500 miles on them and the uppers are just starting to show wear; the tread is in great shape still). I ordered the above shoe where the only change seems to be the addition of the Columbia name in my usual size and sadly they are too small. I have a wide forefoot and am used to having to break a shoe in to accommodate my bunions. But these are also at least a half size smaller in length then previous incarnations. Possibly I got a bad pair (left shoe seems to be snugger all around then right shoe)? This has happened in the past and the company was quick to replace them. I am working with customer service on my options for replacement as I have 33 miles on the shoes so they don't qualify for a return, technically. Sadly no one in my area carries this shoe so options to try them on to find the correct size are limited.

Rated 5 out of 5 by dreamchaser2016 from i'm in love ...I could not be more happy with a pair of shoes i'm in love and would wear them everywhere if that was feasible. They are the Best shoes! Light weight, they look great and they are very comfortable from moment you slip your feet into them. I will order a second pair asap and will buy same style many years to come. Glad to have discovered them. They are my favorite pair of shoes!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nenada from Flexible, great grip, good support Love this shoe because of how light and flexible it is, yet hugs my foot and grips the trail. I run/walk on very slippery, dry Southern California trails, very steep - every other shoe I tried, it was like a skating rink because all other shoes didn't allow my feet to flex the sole and really grip the uneven, loose rocky terrain. Then I discovered the Montrail mountain masochist (what a name!) and have never looked back. Seems like other size 9 people like it too as I can never find it on sale! Great shoe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Steph35 from Favorite Shoe for hard-to-fit foot Please continue making this shoe. I have a very hard to fit narrow, pronating foot and have been purchasing this shoe for 5+ years. I do a lot of walking and wear this shoe everyday. Thank you.
