Women's Newton Ridge™ Plus Hiking Boot is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 101.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Camping Boot I do really like these boots—but I don’t think I’d want to do more than 5–7 miles in them. They are *excellent* for camping, beach walks, short hikes, etc. I just don’t think they’re quite 10-miles comfy. Waterproof, warm—and I feel like they look nice enough that I can wear them to my (very casual) office on a super wet/cold day and not look *too* dorky. I went camping on Whidbey Island in November in them—and they kept me warm and dry the whole time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these I have bought my second pair after a couple of years of extensive use. These are the best hiking boots that I've ever worn, not only because of how functional they are but also because they look good too (which is not something you can say of most hiking boots). The only issue I have is that, if you're planning on walking for more than a mile or so, you should definitely wear long socks to avoid friction.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome boots These boots fit great from the moment I tried them on. No break in time, wore them walking the dogs on muddy trails and the boots performed awesome! I have received several compliments on their looks as well, even though function is more important for me then how they look. I inserted my orthotics and the fit was still great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great I needed a good shoe for delivering mail and these shoes are great. The only thing that would make them 5 stars if they had memory foam or some cushioning. I added my own but overall I love these shoes

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible shoe Shoe fits fine but the tip of the toe bends upwards. Causing discomfort for my toenails; not even my toe. I read previous reviews and a lot of people have the same issue. I reached out the customer service and basically told me it's my fault for ordering a small size. They only allow a one month warranty, therefore I was not able to return it. Even though I ordered it in advance for a hiking trip. When I broke them in before my trip, they were fine but when I walked I them again after 2 months of purchasing them.. they were bothering my toe nail.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent boots I ordered these online for a long winter weekend in Yosemite. I wore them for four days in various conditions and through various activities, and they were excellent. I usually struggle to "break in" boots or shoes and often suffer through blisters for the first several days. There was no such problem with these boots. In fact, when I got home from the trip I was very sad to put them back in the closet in favor of office-appropriate shoes. The bottom grip is excellent on slippery granite, ice and snow, and the boots do, in fact, stay dry in wet conditions. My one issue was that I wore the wrong socks one day and had a little bit of chafing on the upper ankles. Next time I will stick to SmartWool-type socks the whole time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Columbia Hiking Boots These boots are a purchase I will never regret! I borrowed these same boots from a friend a few years ago and absolutely loved them. I am very pleased that I now have my own pair! They support my ankles well and are not too heavy, making them very comfortable and suitable for outdoor activities.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my new hiking boots! I purchased these hiking boots to replace a pair of well loved, well worn Columbia hiking boots that I have had for over 15 years. I was loathe to give them up, but had to. I broke this new pair in on a 7 mile urban hike. You're really not supposed to hike 7 miles in new shoes and I was a little worried. I did not get one blister! The fit is wonderful. The toe box was a little stiff at the beginning of the walk, but easily loosened over the 7 miles. The style is 'slender', so they don't make my 9.5 feet look large as other shoes sometimes do. I really like that.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Quality Shoe I really like the shoes. They are warm and perfect for the cold, wet weather. Great traction on ice and snow. They do, however, lack in some comfort. They could stand to have more arch support, and you must wear tall socks or the ankle rubs. I also am unable to tighten the shoes at the ankles without some measure of discomfort when I bend my ankle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Columbia > any other brand Saw these boots online and I HAD to have them. They are super cute hiking boots which I desperately need. I also thought these shoes looked cute enough to wear when just wandering around the city or go on nature walks around the suburbs! When I got them in the mail and tried them on they fit perfectly! Enough room to wear some thicker hiking socks with and the comfort was insane! I’ve gotten many Columbia shoes before, but these had the most comfort of all! I read comments and some people said that they needed to be worn in, but I honestly didn’t feel that way. They were comfortable from the start and not at all irritating at the ankle (some comments said they rubbed at the ankles). So tempted to get these in another color. If you are unsure about Columbia boots, trust me you will not regret getting ANYTHING from Columbia.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect hiking boots!! Got these a few months ago and am completely in love with them! They are comfortable, attractive, and very durable for everyday use. I wear them all the time and even convinced my sister to get a pair as well. Highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice boots This boots are very comfortable. Even though they are not for winter they keep my feet warm. They run a little large so you have to either pick a smaller size, instead of 7 choose 6.5, or use thicker socks. Overall they are really nice!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loyal to these Shoes This is my second purchase of theses shoes, my last pair lasted me for years until the tread wore down smooth (that’s how much I’ve worn them). I’ve hiked in them on rough terrain up north, worn them daily in Florida doing field work, gotten them wet and muddy, and they are still good enough to wear besides the fact they’re worn out from so much use. Never once had an issue with their integrity and they remained water tight until only recently. I was thrilled to see that Columbia still sells these exact ones! Well worth the money, quite comfortable, and a very well made shoe!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Causes sores where leather bends on toe crease I purchased these on vacation in Minnesota so I cannot return them. I called customer service, they say it is not a defect so nothing will be done. When I wear these boots and as I walk, the shoe bends right over my big toe and causes a terrible sore. I keep trying to wear them since they were near 100.00, I want to break them in but now it is to the point that my nerve hurts up the length of my foot. I may have to call it quits but I need a winter boot. This just sucks. I have seen others complain of the same thing, not sure how this could not be considered a defect. Very unhappy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lasting and comfortable This is my second pair of the Newton Ridge Hikers. First pair lasted 5 years, if not more. I wore them all year especially in the winter. These hikers are comfortable when walking/hiking several miles. My son had the men's version which he found very comfortable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great! Just feels a little roomy. Very well made product, keeps my feet pretty warm as I work outdoors at the airport. The only issue I had was they felt a little roomy on me, I ordered a 7 which is my size but since it's the winter I don't mind so much since I usually wear 2 pairs of socks. But probably will have to buy a different pair for the summer time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do Not Wear Backpacking! I had a last minute mix up with another pair of boots and ended up wearing these on a recent backpacking trip. They were extremely uncomfortable! I had so many blisters on every single inch of my feet (all around my heels, toes on both sides of my feet, etc) by the second day out that I could barely continue the trip. While some blisters were to be expected, this was over the top! The shoes also gave me blisters on the tops of my big toes because of the way the fabric folds inward to press on your toes with each step! Poor design in my opinion. I love wearing Columbia's clothes but would definitely recommend buying better quality shoes.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not good for winter I was happy with the size because I purchased online. I followed the size guide and found it really helpful. The shoes also great since the first time I wear for city walk in Tbilisi, Georgia. It work good on my feet without break in. I used the shoes for short trekking, I feel heard a little bit around heels when climb up. When I used on trekking traits full of snow, my feet got wet. So I think it not good for winter. But in general I'm really happy with it especially I don't feel any serious pain on my feet which is the best :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect I bought these at Fredmeyer for maybe $30 and they have lasted me 4 years! Recently went backpacking for 3 months in them and they held up in the rain and snow and kept their grip in the steep talus I was hiking in! Buying these again because I love them so much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Made it to the Top of Half Dome One week before I was supposed to hike Half Dome my dog chewed up my other Columbia hiking shoes. I got these just in time for my hike and even with the little break in time I had my feet felt good after 9 hours of hiking. I think they could use a little more ankle support and cushioning, but I would definitely recommend them. The waterproofing is good too. I walked out into the Merced river and was a little worried water would get through where the tongue is, but they were good!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprisingly Perfect I bought these boots for a 2 day Machu Picchu hike. I was a bit nervous because I am not a huge hiker and I had never worn them before the hike. However, they were fantastic. They didn't give me blisters at all and had good treads. For hiking 10 miles in them on my first wear, they really couldn't have been better!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My size is 6.5 to 7 but 7 was way too small Very sad that Columbia doesn't exchange items or I would go for one size up, but the shoes are now more expensive than the price I paid, besides I am not sure if size 7.5 would be good for me or I have to go for size 8. My normal size is 6.5 or 7, but this size 7 shoes look very small just by appearance. If I purchase the same shoes now after returning, it would cost about $20 more than the price I have already paid. I tried a similar Columbia shoe at a local store and I am surprised that the size of shoes of the same manufacturer is this much different. I do not recommend buying Columbia shoes online unless you are ready to pay $6 return shipping fee plus spending extra time to get the right size for you. I don't think I would ever try buying shoes here again. Very sad. We need a physical Columbia store in Hawaii.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits well, great construction These boots are what I expect from Columbia--good construction, comfortable and able to be worn right out of the box--no breaking in required.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Supportive I bought these for ankle support after an ankle injury and although they feel quite stiff out of the box, they were comfortable and supportive.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Uncomfortable I purchased a 7.5 which is a half size up than my normal size. I've recently started wearing these after having then for over a year. They were great originally but my last few hikes I've been on these shoes have caused me pain on my ankles. They were rubbing of every step and caused me to have over sensitive pain. My ankles literally felt like rubber because of the constant rubbing. Honestly wish I can return these for low hiking boots. Very unsatisfied..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall great boot Bought this pair while they were on sale, very pleased and would buy again full price. They have a very nice and sleek look but they are still functional. Good grip and good comfort. Wore them for a short 3mi hike to break them in, the crease on the toes was a little uncomfortable but I'm sure it will wear with time, no rubbing other than that. Normally a 7.5, but ordered an 8 and am happy with the extra room I have for socks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Boots Ever! I got these boots for camping and I was skeptical about taking them over the Memorial Day weekend because in the past, I have experienced new boots rubbing the back of my leg, blisters, etc. until broken in. I wore these boots for 3 days straight with a lot of being on my feet. Took them off only to sleep. These were so comfortable and I didn't experience one blister, rubbing or foot ache! Highly recommend this Columbia product. I am super happy with my purchase!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Novice hiker After trying on various boots in store, I was instantly pleased with this pair. I sized up after reading guidelines for buying hiking boots. After initially walking around in them, I was a little bothered by the crease in the toes but after putting on proper socks it was not a bother at all. I tried them out on a sandy 7.5 mile hike and they were fabulous, great support but could have used a little more cushioning in the sole.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Comfy but leaks Comfortable light-weight hiking boots, nice fit, but they leak! My first pair started leaking profusely on a hike through dewy brush and they weren't even a year old. Returned them for a second pair. Yesterday was walking through dewy grass on a hike and again, they began leaking. Under a year old. Upon closer inspection, I noticed little gaps have developed where the sole is attached to the shoe on the side. My next pair of hiking boots will not be Columbia.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boot Get lots of compliments - even from guys.
Date published: 2017-05-10
Rated 3 out of 5 by from The tongue pops out Everything about the boot is good EXCEPT that no matter how I lace them, the tongue comes un-tucked within a minute, which lets in twigs, thorns and burrs, which gather around my ankle. It acts like a catcher's mitt, which isn't good when you're working in and around thorny blackberry bushes. This design flaw makes me not want to recommend this boot.
Date published: 2017-04-22
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stylish and functional These boots were exactly what I was looking for! I hunted for a boot that was stylish and yet still comfortable to hike in. These are everything. They look good, are comfortable, are durable, and kept my feet dry and happy on the trails. Definitely recommend!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Painful toe crease I wanted so badly to love these, but unfortunately the toe creased every time I stepped and caused a painful pressure point across my toes. I tried to break them in around the house to no avail. I'll be returning these.
Date published: 2017-03-20
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pretty, but small and uncomfortable The shoes are pretty. However, they run very narrow. The material is hard and buckles in the toes when you walk. It feels like it will pinch my toes off when moving at a normal pace. This isn't the normal rate for new boots needing breaking in. They are so snug they cut my circulation off and if I leave them loosened the tops bulge out. The laces are entirely to short as well for any comfortable adjustment. I could try them in a wider size, but I am not sure that would change the pinch points. I normally wear a 10 narrow, which can run a little large on me, especially in boots, but it gives my feet room to swell, so I ordered the standard to be safe.- That is not the case this time. Which is sad as the length seems perfect, which is a rare occasion for me in any shoe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boots These boots are amazing. I bought them shortly before a camping trip to the Smoky Mountains and they barely needed to be worn ahead to break in. Very comfortable. I wear them to work sometimes when the weather is bad and have gotten a lot of compliments on them. I also love that Columbia didn't have to make them look like "girl boots" and that they just look like boots. I had a hard time finding a pair without pink and aqua and whatever that would fit me. I read that they ran a little small and people recommended going a half size up. I did so, nervously, and they fit perfectly.
