OutDry™ Extreme is our first ever waterproof and breathable fabric technology constructed with a waterproof layer on the outside and soft, wicking fabric inside. Traditional raingear uses interior waterproof membranes which don't allow for air flow, and water-repellent coating that degrades over time. With OutDry™ Extreme, the rugged exterior is an incredibly water-tight membrane with millions of microscopic perforations that let water vapor escape through a wicking membrane directly fused to the shell.
This award-winning Titanium parka is perfect for arctic exploration and was the parka of choice by an Iditarod racer in 2015. 900-fill power goose down combined with 100g of Omni-Heat Thermal Insulation make this fully seam-sealed down parka a waterproof, breathable juggernaut in the winter. Not quite sure about this...I had been wanting this coat so badly and it went on sale and I bought it. But, I think I may return it because it barely seems worth even the 50% retail price I paid. It does seem warm, as long as you have a base layer on. I like the way it fits (I'm 5'4", 150lb, ordered a medium). I'm sure it's waterproof. Overall I love it, honestly. But I am left wondering if it is truly 1000TD, though I have been assured by 2 Columbia representatives, because if it were, wouldn't the stamp on the zipper near the collar say 1000TD and not 890TD? Look at the photo. It's plain as day. They admit the item description is incorrect (900 Fill Power, Water Resistant Goose Down + 160g Omni-Heat™ Thermal Insulation), but they won't explain why this parka says 890TD and not 1000TD.

Girlfriend loves itMy girlfriend who has a chronic illness wanted a really warm coat that was long and waterproof. I discovered this coat and took a shot and bought it for her. She loves it for the most part, she just wished the logos on the coat weren't a walking billboard. Outside of that she's always warm and never complains about the wind or rain or snow.

Wow! I Feel Like An Arctic Explorer!Super warm, and generous fit. I'm 5'5" 120# 34C and can fit a fleece or sweater underneath. Zippers are great, love the large zippers including pit zips that are functional with gloves.
Only complaint is the faux fur hood, should be of a higher quality for this price point.
I've worn in below zero to 30 degrees and comfortable in all temps.

Warm enough for MN winters! This coat needs a review. I have worn it everyday for the past several months. I walk several miles per day to and from work in all conditions. I have found this coat to be warm to a "real feel" of -30F. I hope I don't have to test it at temps lower than that, although I think it would be warm! I wear a wool long sleeve underneath when the temps drop below -10F, and I am nice and toasty. It works best if you let it "warm up" on your body for a mixture or two prior to venturing out, and the OmniHeat works best if you are moving at least a little bit.
Wind and cold are no match for this coat! The hood wraps around your face to keep out the wind, and the fact that the zipper is extended to cover your mouth is a great feature. It's completely waterproof too.
The only thing that could make this coat better would be a bit more length. I am 5'4" and it hits me at the upper 1/3 of my thigh. I find it TTS, I wear the same size as I do in other Columbia jackets.
