OutDry™ Extreme is the first ever waterproof and breathable fabric technology constructed with a waterproof layer on the outside and soft, wicking fabric inside. Traditional raingear uses interior waterproof membranes which don't allow for air flow, and water-repellent coating that degrades over time. With OutDry™ Extreme, the rugged exterior is an incredibly water-tight membrane with millions of microscopic perforations that let water vapor escape through a wicking membrane directly fused to the shell.
Part of the Titanium line, this fully seam-sealed shell is waterproof, breathable and features 2-way pit vents, 2-way front zipper, articulated elbows, contoured cuffs and silicon grippers on an adjustable hemline that has a slightly dropped tail. This rain-killing shell also features abrasion resistant overlays and our high-tech Light Rail™ zippers on the hand and shoulder pockets.
OutDry™ Extreme - The Pinnacle of waterproof breathable technology
Our first ever waterproof and breathable rainwear with a tough waterproof membrane outside and soft, wicking fabric inside.
SUPER FAST WICKINGTHAT KEEPS YOU DRY.

Excellent Pacific Northwest JacketThis jacket is an excellent waterproof shell, I've been using it bike commuting in the full-on PNW rainy season and it's kept me dry and not-clammy. The hood is large enough to fit over a helmet, but has ample adjustment to easily wear without one. It is a little on the noisy side compared to other Columbia jackets, but it's a soft sound, not crunchy like a traditional rain slicker. The interior is soft and somewhat fuzzy, so if you do sweat, you don't stick to the sides. An improvement would be interior pockets—if the exterior hand pocket linings were sewn/fused to the bottom interior seam, they'd be excellent interior mesh pockets.

Out dry jacketAs we are getting ready for a couple of backpacking treks this year where rain is guaranteed, my husband and I decided to upgrade our Gore Tex and both ordered the Outdry Ex Diamond. We are both tall and slim on the athletic side.
The body of the women's jacket was ok, sleeves would gain to be a bit longer, but acceptable. However, the hood was a great disappointment as it was not deep enough to cover my forehead, not even a little bit. There is nothing I hate more than rain and wind (or anything else for that matter) hitting my face for hours. With such a shallow hood, there is nowhere to hide. The jacket had to go back.
My husband's jacket was acceptable, but could be a bit longer in the body (he is 6ft3in) as the front barely covers his belt. The hood is also pretty shallow, but he always wears a baseball cap, so it makes up for it a bit.
Before making a decision, we both ordered the Gold man and woman version to compare, as the hood is made for a helmet. But it was humongous and flopping around madly. No amount of pulling on the side strings helped. We returned 3 jackets today, my husband kept the Diamond mostly because his Gore Tex has seen better days and we are leaving soon.
I will have to make due with my own patched up Gore Tex for one more season, and I will be waiting for a better Outdry design for women. THis new material is exciting, but please improve the hood. If its a RAIN jacket, it's supposed to protect you from the RAIN. The hood is super important especially if it's your only protection in the wilderness.
Lastly, it seemed that the hood on the jackets in the promotional videos are bigger than the one on the jackets we got. (As there is no physical stores nearby, we spent hours reviewing all the videos we could find) Is there a difference between the prototype version and the commercial one?
Lastly, I only had the choice between black and pink in Canada, and my husband blue and black. PINK... REALLY??? I was happily surprised to see that the black is really a dark grey and is quite nice, much nicer than on the photos. I hope this is useful The review is only on the fit, have not tried it outside. Thanks

Great appeal! An amazing piece of clothing that I am expecting to be very versatile. I feel good in it although fits smaller than I thought it would. I am 12-14 but could not add 2 light layers. Not for cold weather. Check in Sept and I can tell you better. I enjoy columbia sportwear. Check my closet. Many items for the last 5 years.
