Would've given 5 stars but....They totally cheaped out by combining pockets with vents. How can you have a watertight rain jacket with no underarm vents?? The only vents are the mesh lined side pockets so if it's raining you can't vent or water goes in and of it's just chilly you can't warm your hands without venting. Also no accessory pocket for keys. Can't use the two main pockets because they're lined with mesh that will tear. Really too bad because the material and cut are great.

Great technologyThe technology used in this jacket is amazing. It is extremely light weight, kept me warm and dry during a lacrosse game. Unfortunately I had to wear it as a base layer because it runs smaller than my other mediums (non-Columbia) so I've given it to my daughter to use for lacrosse. She gave it a test run and LOVED it!
Also, this is not a true black, its more of a gun metal black; which was another factor in having to wear it as base layer (as an official I have to wear black).
Read the sizing carefully because when I went back based on what is published it probably runs true to the sizing, just not typical of the mediums I buy in other sports wear.

so close, but no diceI wanted to love this jacket. As a shell, it's meant for layering. Unfortunately, the sleeves are so tight I can't wear anything but the lightest underlayer with his jacket, and I have very average sized arms. It's too tight with anything else, restricting movement. The stretch shell is a bit heavier weight, but may be an option. I really wanted light weight. In the PNW, functional layers are a must.
Keep trying, Columbia! I love the fabric's tech qualities (I own OutDry rain pants) , but this needs tweaking. I'll be returning.
