Rated 5 out of 5 by LovetheEastcoast from Beautiful and warm jacket! This jacket is EXACTLY what I was looking for - light weight, thin but still keeps you warm, stylish and athletic looking. I wear it with a sweater on very cold days and stay warm (I live in Eastern Canada where it can be very cold). I definitely recommend this to anyone who is active outdoors (skiing, etc) or just wants to be stylish! I normally wear size large and the extra-large was perfect for me as I have room for a sweater underneath, etc. (I am 5'6" & 175 pounds).

Rated 4 out of 5 by DF88 from New jacket I am overall happy with my purchase. I read a lot of reviews before buying it and am in agreement with a lot of what has been stated before. I generally wear a medium in womens and can occasionally also get away with a small. Per reviews the jacket runs a bit small, so I ordered a large. I'm glad I didn't go any smaller - it fits well with room for a thicker layer underneath. The zipper does occasionally catch when unzipping, but not a deal breaker. The one thing I was a bit surprised about is that the color is not the same as the picture. I ordered the brighter purple jacket. The jacket that came is lighter purple with no hint of magenta to it. It is a nice bright color, but not what is pictured. Working great in our recent 10 degree F weather.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Sapphire44 from NW Indiana to Chicago Commuter Pros: I'm a commuter that spends 1 hr 45 minutes each way, this jacket is nice and thin (perk for a commuter) while still offering good warmth. Order a size up so you can comfortably wear a layer under it on wind chill days. I have big hips and didn't do this, and I'd imagine it would have been more comfy if I'd done so. Cons/Suggestions: The zipper is plastic and cheaply made. For the suggested retail price of the jacket, I would expect better quality. Also, I think the jacket would be more complete with the thumb hole hand cover things... Like I have in my OmniHeat Interchange base. Lots of draft comes in through these sleeves and it's a slick material so it doesn't quite stay over my gloves.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Liaiam from Defective Zipper I bought this jacket for my 13 year old daughter. The first time she wore the jacket the zipper teeth separated in the middle. Then we had a hard time trying to use the pull to zip past the separation, but we got it to work. This problem continued until finally after little over a month after purchasing the coat, the zipper teeth separated AGAIN! The pull came off while I was trying to zip past the separation to free her from the coat. Now my daughter is without a coat for the remainder of the winter because it will take 8-10 weeks to get the problem resolved. It is unfortunate because the coat is very warm but with no zipper it really doesn't matter.

Rated 3 out of 5 by WaitsFan76 from Warm Coat; A Few Issues First, the positives: Rec'd the coat as expected; on time Purchased the purpley color, which I found quite nice Very warm, though did not test it outside in the cold Very lightweight Not positive: The zipper was pretty messed up. It was very difficult to start and undo. Husband tried, too so it wasn't just me. I felt like it wouldn't be long for this world. Body fit was fine, in fact I liked the fitted character of it. The arms, though, are weirdly very large and felt weird with the fitted body. In sum, I wanted to love this because it's so pretty. I could tell it was warm because I started sweating trying to wrestle with the zipper. But even way on sale, I felt $150 for oddly proportioned/sized arms and a totally wonky zipper was too much. I am sadly returning the jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Freedom from Warmest jacket I've ever had This is the warmest jacket I've ever had. It is a little short in the arm's but I thought a XL would have been to long. It's still a great jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by KSinIndy from Love it! Great jacket for this Midwest cold weather. I was very pleased with their Customer Service -- the first jacket I received had a pocket zipper which didn't work. They expedited shipment of a replacement and were very helpful. No issues with the new jacket. Great Customer Service and love the jacket! I read that it ran small but I ordered the medium and it is true to size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DoesWhatHesTold from Wife loves this jacket. Bought this as a Christmas present for the wife. She can't stop talking about how much she loves it. It is warm on her walks but thinner than her other "puffy" jacket. The hood makes a big difference for her. She usually wears two thin layers underneath it. Been walking in 25°-35° weather.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jwinmore from Go to Jacket during Midwest winters I don't think I'll ever buy a jacket from a different company. This is my first Columbia jacket and since I've had this jacket for a year, I've already purchased more jackets for gifts and for my husband. The omni-heat is amazing, I even start to sweat sometimes. I reserve this jacket for temps from 30 to -10 degrees. I ordered the Hyper Purple which is a little too purple. The newer colors for 2015 look more toned down. I wish the jacket had interior pockets. It was also slightly small. I wear an XL and it fit fine, however, I'm not able to wear very thick sweaters underneath. Just make sure you pick the right size and you'll be really happy with your jacket purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jeanne52 from Too small I will start out by saying I love this jacket! The color is fun for a drab winter. Unfortunately the fit is not right for me. I read the reviews about size so I ordered a size up from what I usually wear. It does fit, but if I wanted to wear a sweater it would be too snug. So I regret that I will have to send it back and try a different style jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by jlyk06 from Love this coat! I decided to go up a size for this coat just to give myself a little room with the coat and wearing thicker sweaters (hate feeling stuffed into my coat). I am pleased with the size as it fits comfortably, but isn't so large that it won't keep me warm. I haven't had a chance to wear it out and about yet (as Santa only allowed me to try it on to ensure the fit was good), but definitely looking forward to using my new coat.

Rated 2 out of 5 by ColumbiaJacketFan from DISAPPOINTED I was disappointed in this jacket because the hood has NO way to stay on, no draw string, no velcro, no snaps etc, it will just blow off your head with the slightest breeze. I was also disappointed in only 2 front pockets. Would like at least 1 more pocket inside or outside the jacket for keys, wallet, cell phone etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by rikwils from Exactly what I was looking for in a down jacket! I'm thrilled with my Turbodown by Columbia! I had previously purchased a Northface thermoball jacket that was disappointingly thin and low quality and was looking to upgrade to a better quality jacket for minimal sticker shock. Needless to say, this Columbia Turbodown fit the bill! Not only was it much, much warmer than my Northface, it was also much more substantial without adding too much bulk as down is known to do. Although it is slightly less packable, the quality is clearly higher and I really love the dark blue with the light zipper and lining. I'm 5'7" and 190 lbs with a larger chest and the XL fits with plenty of room to spare. As I live in northern Minnesota and bike commute year round, it is absolutely necessary to be able to layer underneath jackets, which is definitely possible with this Columbia. SO happy with this purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by CMB05 from Lightweight & Warm Last winter I was so cold that I was forced to make an impulse buy. I'm glad I did. This jacket is super lightweight and breathable yet surprisingly warm. I also spend a lot of time outside, and I've rarely felt cold even in the harshest of weather. I'm so sold on Turbodown that I just purchased another jacket with the same technology that's more suited for day to day wear. Hoping it delivers performance on par with this jacket.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Donna97 from Not a winter jacket Very Disappointed after reading the review. I purchased this jacket. On the day I received it I was excited and hopefully that it would live up to it's standard. But it didn't. I was able to test it out the next day. We had snow just enough to shovel. The temp outside was 15 with a wind chill -5. So out I go in my new jacket to clear the cars out of driveway. Right away I notice a chill across the top part of my back and arms. I figure ok you must have to move to make the Omni heat to work. Well that never happen. I cleared the drive and remained cold enough to know this was not the jacket for me. So it was returned the next day.

Rated 4 out of 5 by porschatruly from Happy Overall the jacket is lightweight and warm. I have owned the jacket for a few weeks now and I remain surprising warm in 30 degree temperatures. Keep in mind, I do wear a lightweight zip-up hoodie underneath the jacket. I am 5'3, 120lbs and I ordered a small. PS. I do not have any discrepancies with the appearance of the hood. I DO wish that the jacket came with an inside pocket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by NFLgirl from Wonderful Winter Jacket As an owner of many Columbia coats, I did have to order a size larger in this coat. This is truly the warmest coat I have ever owned. We live in Germany where it is very cold. I love that is very thin. This coat is however, not jet black like I expected it to be. As far as style and fit, I had to order a size up. I wish it had inside pocket. As far as warmth, I would highly recommend this coat!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lumendez31 from Good choice I was a little skeptical in purchasing this jacket cause it seemed flimsy and thin but I was pleasantly surprised. I live in Chicago and the cold weather is brutal to say the least. Wrap a scarf around your neck and with this jacket you're set for the cold. It does run a bit small so be mindful of that when choosing your size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by kkphilly from GET THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bought the mens version for myself. I loved it so I got it for my gf. She is always cold. She loved it. In fact she reported that she was actually sweating in it once, in 25 deg weather with a 20 degree wind chill. Everything is cold sans your arms and torso. Its amazing considering how thin it is. She wears it all the time. And its a very nice design.

Rated 4 out of 5 by cuhsahndruh from Great product for the price, but there's room for improvement. I ordered an XS in Hyper Purple. The color is as it appears on the site. The fit: Lightweight, not bulky. I have a petite frame (25'' waist and ~29.5'' chest) and there is plenty of room for comfortable layering and movement. I like the length of coat, as I have a long torso. The coat still covers my back if I bend over. The bottom is easily cinched with the toggle adjusters. The arms are long enough that I can raise my arms above my head. The elastic on the wrists is tight enough, but not so tight that I can't slip my gloves underneath. The function: The only thing to really be desired are internal pockets. I'm surprised there isn't at least one. I appreciate the zippered external pockets. They have an appropriate depth. This jacket is surprisingly warm! It hasn't been terribly cold in Western NC yet this year, but I start getting toasty pretty much immediately after I put this on. It retains heat well. It would be nice to have a hood adjustment, but if it's that cold I'm sure a hat and scarf would solve any fit issues around the head/neck. The construction: Solidly made. The down is staying inside the coat. No stray threads from the seams. The material is comfortable. Overall, this is a great buy, especially if you're looking for a basic down coat that will keep you warm without breaking your wallet. If you're looking for a coat with more frills and extra features, I wouldn't recommend it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MHGH from Great warmth, but bad hood design Great warmth in a slim design, which is nice because it's not bulky. However, the hood style makes it look funny. Bought it for my teenage daughter and she HATED the way the hood trim sort of bunched in towards her face. I agree with her and am returning the coat for the version without the hood.

Rated 4 out of 5 by TLSS from Great Fit! The only reason I didn't give a 5 stars for function is because I haven't had to wear it yet when it's cold (around zero). I didn't give it 5 stars overall because it has no interior pockets (not that I was led to believe there were any); every jacket should have at least one interior pocket. PROS: LONG sleeves that don't get in the way Purple is as portrayed on the screen Not at all bulky, VERY comfortable and easy to move in Slightly fitted style Length is just long enough to cover below the waist, but short enough to be stylish/cute Attached hood Very easily to stuff into luggage or tote CONS: No inside pockets - I was hoping they were left out of the item description by mistake. I'm a size 16 (usually a large), and XL for any coat or jacket. It fits very well. I love wearing it!
