- 1. Chest/Bust: Measure at the fullest part of the chest, under the armpits and over the shoulder blades, keeping the tape measure firm and level.

warm, warm, warm
I bought this for my boyfriend who normally wears size XXL shirts. It is a little bit big but he loves it. The navy blue is a great color and it is really warm. Our weather dropped to 23 degrees the other day and he commented on the warmth several times.

Love these for fishing
First off, these run small, so size up. I've been buying them for years and always had to buy a size larger than whatever my current size is. Having said that, I love these for fishing. They have actual pockets and dry quickly. They hold up well, don't easily stain and are very easy to wash, dry and wear. Love them!

Great Shorts

Definitely runs small
I've always found Columbia wear to run small as a rule, but took a chance anyway.
And these shorts sadly do run small like the rest of their clothing.
I'm a sz. 14 and these are 12-14, maybe that's the problem.
The quality is nice, but I marked them average to the length of the shorts. I'd definitely like them to be longer.
To ship them back, I'd only get $8.00 credit and I spent around $17 on them.
So I'm keeping them and will either sell on a 2nd hand clothing site or wait until I lose 5 lb. to use them.

Best shorts for travel
I LOVE these shorts. I had a pair that I purchased years ago and decided I wanted more just like them since we were going to the Philippines and other similar areas. I got THREE pairs! Since packing is a challenge, these shorts are light weight and easy to launder. I love the side pockets and the zippered pocket on the pack is a bonus. Although I purchased them with my trip in mind, I find I wear them all the time. Paired with a pretty tee, I can wear them to the market and feel like I am dressed properly as well as comfortable. I live in SC and the weather is hot and humid and these shorts are cool. Buy them...you will not be disappointed.

Got these to wear over a bathing suit. I’m a senior and like things covered up. Would have given them 5 stars if they came with a built in panty like board shorts. Then they could be worn with a rash guard top.

Great in summer
I originally got these shorts for kayaking, as I wanted something that would allow movement, but also dry quickly. They do that very well, but I have found myself wearing them for everyday use as well, because of how great they are in humidity. Very comfortable and they keep you cool.

Nice shorts, but not what I expected
These are great fit in waist but, way too big in legs. They have such a wide opening its not my kinda short. They are okay to wear over something else but not alone. I'm 5'4 and 115lbs. I wear small an size 2 - 4. These fit good just the legs as I said.

I Wear These All Summer Long!
I am a size 6 in pants, sometimes a size 4 but I always buy size Medium in these shorts (even though they say a Medium is sizes 8-10). I buy a size up because I like being able to move my legs more easily and not have the fabric hugging my body. I am 5'3" and about 125 pounds.
The reason why I am absolutely in love with these shorts is because of how comfortable, durable, and breathable they are. It's a bonus how beautiful the colors are too. I love wearing them all summer, everyday if I can help it because these are great for swimming, hiking, walking; anything you would hope to be doing during the summer.
It's also really nice having shorts that don't stay wet if you go swimming in them or get caught in the rain, I like that about them too. I absolutely recommend these shorts. They are summer staple that will endure many summers of fun! :)

Great summer shorts
These shorts are so comfortable. They are cool and dry very fast. Perfect for kayaking and outdoor festivals in steamy south Louisiana. I am 5'5" 135lbs and the small fits great. Liked them so much I have them in 3 colors! Only gave a 4/5 on function because I wish the pockets were bigger.

I had a pair of these shorts years ago and they were my favorites! Comfy, lightweight. And the pockets held anything!
Today's version is still pretty good, but 1-2 more inches on the pocket & I wouldn't be dropping my phone everytime I sat down.
Still comfy & lightweight. I live in Phoenix & they are great in our hot summers. I'm 5'5", 135 lbs & have woman-hips (curvy). Medium is ok, should have gone with large. My bad. Size chart seems pretty good.

Perfect for Hot Weather
I live in Florida where it is hot most of the time (well I guess the rest of the USA is hot this summer as well). I thought the 5 inch was going to be too short since my legs are not my best feature - but I found them to be great! I am larger in the “posterior” section than I am up top and I have a small waist. These shorts fit the bill, they are actually flattering. The length is good and the fabric even better. The shorts don’t stick to me, they dry quickly and they are so comfortable to wear. I keep going back and ordering more. I have about 6 pairs now. I love the colors - especially the cool green. The sale price is excellent and if you’re a member - you don’t have to pay shipping. I’m not being paid to write this review - I just love these shorts so much.

Great short and quick drying.
I wear this in the rainy season here in Mexico. It is hot and humorous d here and these shorts keep you cool and they dry quickly. I only wish they made the legs a little wider. On me they fit a little snug. Not tight enough that I won’t wear them, but my preference would be a little bigger in the leg.

Beautiful but not cut generously
I ordered a size M in White Cap Blue. The color is beautiful, like a deep shade of powder blue and the fabric will dry quickly if wet. It is not a stretchy fabric but more like a crisp parachute fabric. The length is OK, but on the short side. These shorts are not cut generously. Not enough fabric was spared to create a comfortable leg width to allow for unrestricted leg movement while hiking or lunging during athletic activities. Also, although there is an elastic waistband for stretch, the waist wasn't cut with enough fabric to stretch very far. Bottom line: this model is not cut as fully as one would think by looking at the photos of an elastic waisted boxer-cut athletic short, so order a size larger than you imagine you need.

Ok for the sale price
I already own a few of these shorts ( in size large) and love them so I bought more when they went on sale. The sizing is very inconsistent. The ones I already own fit great. The ones I just ordered run small so unless you like tight shorts order up a size.

My go-to
These are my go-to shorts. I bought my first pair probably five years ago. The sizing hasn't changed since then so I was surprised that the new ones fit the same. These are great for hiking and kayaking as they are flexible and dry quickly. The only thing is I wish the pockets where a little deeper the contents of my pocket wouldn't dumb every time I sat down.
