Reviews

Women’s Saturday Trail™ II Stretch Convertible Pant is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 88.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Perfect Zip Offs I love the Omni-Shield line, and these pants did not disappoint. I use the zip-off-turn-pants-into-shorts thing a lot, and these are just great. The zipper does not scratch against my skin, there are ample pockets, the fit is comfortable, the ability to cinch the legs at the hem comes in very handy. Very happy with these!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great pants for any event I love these pants so much. They look cool, and are so functional. The material is great for warm or cool weather. I like the zipper function, but it is kind of snug. I am 5' 3 105 lbs and the thigh part was dangerously close to being too tight. They fit perfectly, but if i get thicker, these will be uncomfortable. I got a regular because they were out of short, and I am happy I did. They arent dragging like the other regulars I've gotten. As for now, they are great and I love them. So many zippers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Pants I ordered these pants for kayaking and hiking because the bottom zips off and they are quick drying. They are really nice looking and fit like they were made for me. Drawstrings around the ankles will also help keep ticks out! It's winter here now and too cold to wear these light weight pants, but can't wait until spring to get some good use out of them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for travel Versatile pants. Very comfortable especially for travel. You can wash it at night and it's dry before you wake up. Travel for two weeks requires only two of these. Love this item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sat. Trail Convertible Hiking Pants These hiking pants are my favorites! I've tried many other brands through the years and these fit the best, look the best, and are a great length shorts in the convertible option. I highly recommend them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My go-to pants for comfort and durability I have worn a pair of these convertible pants for a couple of years and just ordered a second pair. They truly are stain resistant. I've worn them fly-fishing and hiking - they have been washed countless times - and they still look unstained. Last year I realized that they are my most comfortable casual pants and I now wear them around the house - for leisure and work - in place of yoga pants or jeans. I'm getting ready to buy a third pair. They fit right, stretch right, the pant legs zip on and off easily and they are just the right weight for summer fishing in the Rockies! Excellent product!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from almost perfect, but totally not I really wanted to love these pants. They are the perfect length, fabric and weight. Unfortunately they are totally unwearable. The zipper feature is so constricting that it inhibits movement. I knew this was a complaint about the pants, but thought I would be okay since I have narrow thighs, however I was wrong. They are otherwise amazing pants that are quiet flattering, until you sit down and the zipper band hikes up and cuts off your thigh to give you a thigh muffin top.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Pants I have been trying to find these pants for some time - they are the only ones with a true 32" inseam (one of my favorite things about Columbia pants). The fit is perfect, very comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product We travel around the world and this pants is up to the task. Good material, convertible and comfortable. Light material that offers ease of movement and occupies small space in the luggage that enables both of us to carry one carry-on luggage each. This is very important because we always travel light. All our clothes (shirts, pants, hats) are Columbia products. However, an additional secure pocket on the other side of this pants will truly help. We love Columbia products, so we continue to buy them especially when they are on sale.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Touring Pant As a Tour Guide, I loved having the flexibility to wear these as "long" pants when required for meetings and dinners, but could make them "shorts" when the temperature soared while we were on a walking tour. They're easy to wash out and dry quicky too. Runs true to size
Date published: 2017-07-05
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Short and sweet What I like about Columbia pants is that the "short" size is actually SHORT. I'm 5'2" and it is ridiculous how many times I've had to hem the "short"-sized pants in other brands because they're made for ladies who are 5'6". News flash: That's not short. So, anyone who is truly tiny? These pants won't drag on the floor. And if they do for you: There's a nifty draw string that'll fix the problem. Aside from the length, the pants are breezy and slim-fitting. No baggy (unnecessary) pockets? No problem. In fact, even better. The tight zippers on the leg that everyone else found troubling? Not a problem for me. The only thing I'd critique is that the shorts are more Bermuda style than actual shorts (for a short lady). All in all, a great purchase... and I do a ton of backcountry camping for long stretches. (Haven't washed them yet so I can't verify how they hold up over time.)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fits true to size initially but after some wear, stretches I must say I love columbia clothing. But this line of pants frustrate me. They're great initially. Fit perfectly but within a short period of time, they didn't hold their shape. Within an hour of putting on, they had become too large. I've tried this style twice in different sizes and they both have had the same problem. I also find in the plus sizes that the circumference around the leg is not big enough or at least the zipper isn't long enough. The zipper acts as a tourniquet bc of course it doesn't stretch when you sit down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Quality These are great for those days that start out or end cool yet are warm during the mid-day! The length of the shorts is just above the knee. Very comfortable material.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great hiking pants! What are the odds of ordering pants online and them actually fitting like a glove?! Once I tried these pants on, I didn't want to take them off anymore! These pants looks very nice, especially for zip-offs. I even sneaked them in to the office one day, because they are SO comfy, yet look stylish. I used these pants on a 2-week camping trip that involved a lot of hiking. Although the trails were dusty, the pants did not attract a lot of dirt at all. They have enough stretch to be comfortable, without stretching out over time. I did notice that they shrunk a little bit on their first wash. I admit that I didn't read the instructions, but simply washed them on warm and threw them in the dryer with the rest of my clothes. I ordered a size 6 regular length. I'm 5'6, 130lbs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy Happy Happy I love the quality of your clothing and have bought many pairs of the "zipper"pants as I call them. They are great for those who hike or golf because you have the best of both worlds. Shorts and long pants. I recommend your clothing to all my friends and family. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome pants Perfect for turtle walks and rainy beach nights. Pockets deep enough to hold flash light. Stretchy material perfect for crouching down during scouting hours. Legs unzip easily to convert into shorts.
Date published: 2017-06-07
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too tight for my thighs! Unfortunately the zipper is too tight on my thighs which make the pants really unconfortable. Had to return it - and I'm only a size 4 :-( (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)
Date published: 2017-06-05
Rated 4 out of 5 by from One Downfall These pants are great. I'm 5'1" and the short fits just perfectly on me. I bought small, I'm 120 lbs. The material is light weight and comfortable. The only problem is the zippers for the conversion to shorts. When walking or standing you don't notice, but as soon as you sit down or crouch low it's very constricting. The zippers don't stretch at all so they squeeze my lower thighs pretty tightly. Not enough to loose circulation, but enough to be uncomfortable. My thighs standing are 14.5 inches and when crouching 17.5 inches. Also, the pants don't stand up well against thorns, they will get stuck and may even pull. That, however, is expected because it isn't a very thick fabric. So if you're thinking about buying these pants consider if you will mainly be walking or crouching.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the slimmer leg style! I love the new design with the fitted leg style. My old zip off pants have wide legs with lots of fabric and it seemed like they were always catching on the trail shrubbery. The only downside is that the zippered part of the leg is a little snug around my upper knee area, but did not inhibit my movement on the trail. By the end of the day, I did not notice the snugness. I purchased size 2. I am 5' 8" and 118 lbs. Hips are 35.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Original Sat Trail Were Better Overall these are still good pants. I have my old pair and still love them. But the waist is too tight on the Trail II. Much smaller than the original. Okay if I stand but tight on sitting. The new version also no longer has the soft inset on the back of the waist. Really miss that. I won't return but not sure I will get again . (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly Satisfied Repeat Customer Columbia has asked me to review this product after having a chance to get to know them. Well, I already had a pair. I had lost 30 pounds recently, and I was actually disappointed because my Trail II's were too big, so the first purchase I HAD to make, was to replace my Columbia pants. They are the best for everyday use and travel. I highly recommend this product. You will not be disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great style but with a design flaw Customer care said the circumference of the leg at the shorts zipper is 18" for 6 long and 18-1/2" for 8L. True, but both regular & long versions of this pant have the same 10" shorts inseam. In other words they are not proportionately longer in the shorts inseam as they should be for people with longer bones. This is why the zipper is reported as TIGHT even for a woman with a tall lean build. My thigh measures 17" around at the zipper. Its ok standing but snug when I sit down and the legs pull up. I am 5'8" & take a 33/34" inseam (pant) & the 6 long in the Sat trail pant fits perfectly! This convertible pant would fit more women if the shorts inseam was 1.5 to 2 inches longer in the tall/LONG sizes. Shorts and convertibles need to be proportionately longer in the thigh and lower leg! Otherwise this is a great style in a great fabric. Columbia, I hope this review helps you to design a better product for us forgotten talls.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from my first convertible pant I bought these in confidence because my "Saturday Trail shorts" fit perfectly. The pants fit equally perfect. I have fit but slim legs, and the zipper bands remain comfortable for me, whether sitting or hiking. I took my shoes off to remove the pant bottom, or I would of had to super stretch to get the lower pant over my shoes. But not a problem. I am super happy with my purchase. The "grill" color will match any tops.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice light fabric Great pant with the minor exception that the zipper around the upper leg to convert to shorts is a little snugg when flexing my leg to sit, step, etc. I have slim legs with minimal muscle mass so I can see these being uncomfortable on a person with average to larger upper legs. I do love the length as I have a 33" inseam.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Functional and comfortable I wore these pants on a stream research trip and was horrified when I knelt too far down at the stream and ended up kneeling in the water. However when I stood up all the water ran off my pants and I was still dry! These pants are also extremely comfortable and light. On cold days I layer them with warm tights and they still fit perfectly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy the zip off version I was so excited to get my pants in the mail only to discover they made the zipper to tight around the quads to even bend down and do work. I'm returning them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Yet more Velcro :-( As a 5'10" woman I am lacking in options when it comes to pants that are long enough. These fit well and I am certain the material will perform. The zips certainly seem very functional. So I've kept them. However yet again a Columbia product is cheapened by the use of Velcro - this time on the rear pockets. Those pockets would have been fine just as flaps, or you could have used snaps or magnets. But the small Velcro strips instead sound cheap and nasty and are actually so small they don't always meet correctly which leaves the pocket flap ruffled. Velcro never survives multiple washings either. As a final comment it would be nice if manufacturers remembered that women (not just men) also like functional pockets. Please design in some pockets that actually hold more than a credit card or a key. Good design would let this be done without ruining the overall line of the garment.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from zipper connection Pants fit well while standing. However, the zipper connection between short and lower leg is uncomfortable while sitting.....binds.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from What is up with that thigh size?? I am 6' tall and 130lbs. I have scrawny little stick legs. Like many other reviewers have said, the thigh zippers on these pants are miniscule! When I sat down they cut uncomfortably in to my leg and were too tight even when standing. The waist fit fine. Side note Columbia, 34" inseam is not tall enough for tall ladies. Can we get an extra inch??

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fabric didn't last a week I got these for a trip to Europe that was to be mostly urban walking plus visits to galleries/museums etc. The so-called "durable" fabric started to pill at the crotch with less than a week's worth of walking. We averaged about 15-20km of walking a day. I was expecting to have nice-looking pants for at least a full season. I am very disappointed given the price point and I'm regretting the purchase. On the plus side, they were comfortable and fairly stain resistant, odor resistant, and dried quickly after handwashing in a sink. They seemed to hold their shape really well. Sadly, the pilling in the crotch means the fabric will become threadbare far too quickly and I would not be okay relying on this product for a more aggressive outdoor aventure like backpacking.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Skip this pant.. I bought this pants because my other convertibles where getting really old. These pants stretch so much that you feel uncomfortable after a few hours...don't buy them if your destination is really warm because the fabric sticks to your legs, don't wear them on the plane if you have a long flight the zipper on the convertible becomes very uncomfortable and tight.
Date published: 2016-10-24
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice, light pants These pants are nice and light, but the zipper to convert from pants to shorts is a little tight around larger thighs. Can't wait to take these on an adventure to see how they do!
Date published: 2016-10-20
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great look and fit. These pants look and fit great especially when compared to my old baggy hiking pants. So very comfortable. I have not worn them much yet so I don't know about durability. Fabric is very light weight but that is fine for me - I won't be wearing them in cold weather. My sister recommended them and absolutely loves hers.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ripped the First Wear These pants ripped (as well as another style) on the first wear! Both pairs of pants ripped right above the stitching at the back side. What a shame. Horrible quality.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fabric Pilling I bought at least three pairs of pants with this same kind of fabric and was very happy with it in the beginning. It was very comfortable and and fits well. After using it a few times for travelling and hiking, I started to notice that the fabric starts to pill and now it's not looking good. I am so disappointed with this purchase!
Date published: 2016-10-03
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too short and top tight After reading the reviews, I decided to buy a size bigger than usual. I usually wear 12L-14L and ordered size 16L. The quality of the pants is below average and they appeared to be the length of average pants. Like many other reviewers commented, the zipper was way too tight around the thigh region. The material was very breathable and comfortable, but if needing to bend low, crawl, climb or walk through the bush, I'd very afraid of ripping them. Overall this seems like a good pair of pants for an average hiker with a very slim body build.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, functional pant! I recently went on an overseas trip to Europe. My luggage did not arrive until 7 days into the trip-at our last port of call. Luckily, I wore these pants on the plane. These pants were great! I unzipped them and converted them to shorts immediately. They were extremely comfortable in the climate and I was able to wash them out and let them dry at night. I cannot say enough good things about these pants, the material, the fit, they are a wonderful value for the $. Thank you Columbia!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Woman's Saturday-trail-ii-stretch-convertible-pant I bought a pair of these in the US and the waist band stretched.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from legs are snug I purchased an 8 tall and then returned due to being too snug. Purchased a size 10 tall which fit great except for the zipper off section of the pants. Way too tight and I do not have large legs. Disappointed as finding tall in a hiking pants is very difficult.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great hiking pants Love the fit and feel of these pants. They run a bit small and long so just adjust what you normally order. Well worth the purchase. I bought two pairs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Hiking Pants I love these pants. They are very comfortable and functional hiking pants. I am 5'2" 120lbs and the size 8 short fits perfect. I am usually a size 6. Go up one size for comfort.
Date published: 2016-08-18
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Zipper is Constricting The pants are comfortable and high-quality, but the zipper was quite tight around my thighs when I bent my legs. Granted, I have athletic legs, but ultimately the zipper did not give me enough range of motion and I did not keep the pants.
Date published: 2016-08-10
Rated 2 out of 5 by from The elastic zippers are FAR too tight on these curvy thighs! The elastics in the thighs are also FAR too tight. Even when you hold them up, you can see them pinch in at the thighs causing a very unpleasant squish on the thighs. Ahem... we are trying to draw attention AWAY from our thighs clothing designers... The elastics should be as wide as the thigh. I was so excited to see TALL hiking pants, I bought a pair one size too big based on all the other reviews. They are, heart-breakingly, still too short. 32 inches is NOT a tall pant. I can usually get away with one size larger and they hang lower... but not these ones. Most stores carry 33, 34, and even 36 as a tall option. These pants are just no good for us tall curvy gals! However, the hips and bum did fit well, so I'll keep the capris I bought in the similar design. I have yet to find a Tall Hiking pant that is long enough to accommodate my height AND curves Columbia. With your $7/shipment AND the cost to return items is not feasible... I am getting very discouraged!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these pants!! I bought a pair of these while I was in Yosemite National Park two years ago. It was July and very hot. These are great pants for hiking in. We usually started out early in the morning on our hikes when it was relatively chilly. Then as the day wore on and the temperature increased, all I had to do was unzip the bottoms and I was wearing shorts!! The material is not too heavy, even if you want to keep your legs covered, like if you are walking in weeds or tall grasses. I purchased a second pair as I am headed out to the Pacific Northwest where it is going to be considerably cooler & felt I needed two pairs to sustain me for the week.
