Wider pants will be nice
I have thick thights, ao was too tide on that area. Anything else, lenght, material and waist fit fine.

Very Nice but . .
I ordered these pants in gray and one size up as other reviews state they run small. They fit perfect so I took the tags off and went for a long walk.
That's when I got a nasty surprise - the zipper.
The pants are stretchy and that makes them super comfortable but the zipper is not and it starts to scratch when walking and cutting in when you climb.
Now the pants are worn and a bit dirty so I can't send them back.
Please be careful when you order these and make sure your legs don't get uncomfortable with the zipper before you go on an adventure.

The pants are too tight around the zipper - not so much that they aren't functional, but enough to be annoying.
That said, I like the pants for hiking & camping and hope that Columbia will fix this one flaw and continue to sell clothes for bigger women who are active!

Nice fabric and fit
The feel of the fabric in these pants is very nice. They have a little give and stretch to them which makes them very comfortable. Unfortunately while the pants have a little give the zippers don't. So while up and walking they feel great but when you sit down the zippers can feel snug or tight around the thighs and it can be uncomfortable to squat down in them. I have already warned a friend to be aware of this as she like me was a serious cyclist in college and we still have larger thighs than some people.

Next best thing to wearing nothing
All pants should be made of this fabric! The fit runs a little large so they are loose which probably helps the comfort level. The fabric is light and stretchy. The pockets are decent. The fit is attractive. Dries quickly and wrinkle free so great travel pants. The one thing I would like to see is the ability to order these in different lengths, as the standard length is just a bit long for me. I have to cinch the pant legs to keep from walking on them.

Great Fit, Comfortable
I bought these because I wanted convertible hiking pants that don't look baggy or awkward, which can be difficult for shorter people like me. These are a tad bit long and the detachable part doesn't come off over my hiking boots, but the pants fit great and are comfortable. Some people say they run a little small, so I bought these a size up, and they're a little loose, but just enough that I can layer underneath when the weather gets cooler. and wear a belt in the summer months.

Size up for long rise
For my trip to the Rockies in Boulder I needed pants for 90-degree June weather walks hikes and long nights outside. I am a size 12-14 tall, taller inseam 33" and I have a long rise of 11" minimum. I ordered a size 16 and they fit perfectly well. The give that I like is in the extreme stretchiness of the fabric. Legs zip off and reattach easily (shoes off). Probably not very water resistant - think of a stretch knit polyester with 4% lycra - thats what they move like. Probably not great for cold weather or for bush whacking through brambles (knit) but great for my uses. Well designed.

Excellent Hiking Pants
I purchased a pair of these pants for an upcoming trip to Peru to hike the Inca Trail. I usually hike 2-3 times a week year long so I thought I would give these a try. I love them! I purchased a second pair for the Peru trip as a back up. The pants are flattering yet functional. My only complaint is I wish they came in another color so there was some variety. Therefore I'm giving them 4 stars.

Nice looking pants for outdoors
The fit was great. I am 5'8" and sometimes need a Long in length but this pant in the Avg was just right. The pants have all the nice features wanted for hiking with good pockets and zip off pants. The material is stretchy and very comfy on. The side leg pocket is big enough for my Galaxy S4 phone.

My favorite casual pants
This is my second pair of this style pants from Columbia.
They are SO comfortable!!! Also they look good enough to wear for nicer occasions. Zippers and pockets are smooth.

Hike in Comfort with Confidence
I bought these for hiking in Wyoming and had to be ready for bushwacking mountain hikes, badlands desert environment, and possible snow in September. These pants offered perfect protection and great comfort for all these scenarios. The only reason I didn't give it four stars is because I liked the Mountain Hard Wear Convertible pants, which I bought at the same time, a little better in terms of fit.

Zip off pants
I liked the material and the fit - for zip off pants these pants look good! However, although I have a fairly average build, my upper legs felt confined and I could feel the zipper around my thighs. Great pants if your thighs are slim!

Convenient and light
So happy to find zip-off pants that are mid-rise and comfortable at the waist. The waist band has nice soft material so it does not rub when backpacking. The shorts are a nice length just above the knee. They have a flattering fit and do not ride down too low at the waist. (I used to love Northface and Prana pants when I was a size 4-6, but gained some weight around the middle and can't wear the tight-fitting low-rise styles anymore.) These pants are very comfortable when hiking or standing. My only complaint is the zipper wraps around the thigh too tight when in a seated position. This makes car rides a bit uncomfortable. The problem is that the zipper sits closer to the knee when you are standing, but rides up the thigh when sitting. People with skinny thighs will probably not have this problem. :) My only other complaint is the sizing runs a little small. I wear size 8 in jeans but seem to need a size 10 in hiking pants because I am too curvy for the slender fit.

flattering fit
I bought these pants to wear on a field expedition to Belize (think forest, not coast) where pants are often necessary and opportunities to wear shorts are a sporadic but welcomed. I liked the length of these pants. I am 5'10 with a 32.5" inseam and they were long enough (that does not happen all of the time!). The legs taper in at the zip off point (which hit me about 5 inches above the knees) and this restricted movement and chaffed a little, especially when I was sweaty. Perhaps this was due to my height and the taper hitting higher on my leg than it was designed to.
Regardless, the material held up to some rugged circumstances very well. They also did not get, for lack of a better word, "funky" smelling like my other pants did in the constant heat and humidity. This was a plus because I did not have a lot of laundry opportunities!
Speaking of laundry, the zipper separated halfway through its length the first time I washed them (at home). I thought this might be a fluke, but it happened in subsequent washes as well (even on the gentle cycle in a front loader washer). They unzipped and zipped back together correctly no problem each time, but now I wash the legs and shorts together in the same load, but separated from each other.

Convenience and a perfect fit
These are the best-looking hiking pants I've ever had: just tight enough at the thighs and butt that they make my legs look really good, yet they're comfortable. It's easy to remove and rejoin the legs with the top of the pants. The only con is that you can feel the zipper around your thigh even in "shorts mode". It's a slightly bothersome feeling at first, but you get used to it.

The pants were a little tight in the thigh where the zipper is. But, it stretched a little and was not uncomfortable. These are very nice convertible pants. The zipper works great.

Different Materials
The top of the pants are one material and the bottom another. The top part was clingy and showed all of my bumps and lumps. The zipper seemed to be in the wrong place too.

Finally!
I have been searching for a pair of convertible pants for an upcoming trip to Peru (Amazon & Inca Trail). All the pants I have tried on have fit horribly. I was SO happy to find these because they actually fit both my waist and my thighs.
It's true that the zipper is tighter and doesn't stretch. But I'm not sure how this could be remedied unless there is an elastic zipper out there on the market. What these pants have going for them is that the shorts are bermuda length and so the zipper is closer to your knee than where your quads are likely to be the largest.
Not like it matters that much, but these pants actually look good--something that cannot be said of most convertible pants. They still have plenty of pockets, but I know I wont look like a trekker all the time while I'm touring cities while travelling. I think I'll get a lot of use out of these pants.

Great for backpacking!
I have gone backpacking for the last several years. Usually I am on the JMT or PCT so the trails are pretty clear and I am not going through brush so my little yoga pants have always been just fine (I'm not one to spend money on new items unless I HAVE to).
After a short overnight in the Los Padres Wilderness, and going through brush, losing the trail and walking through water here and there, I decided it was time to break down and get some hiking pants.
These were awesome! I opted for the convertible pants in case I wanted to unzip the pant part and go for the shorts when I got too hot but these were so light and breathable that I never had to unzip at all! I wore them on a 33-mile, Ojai to Fillmore trip this past April. It was HOT (high 80s/very low 90s)! The trail wasn't clearly cut in some areas so, again, we were walking through brush. I was so relieved that I had these pants when I found two ticks stuck to the material of the pant legs (their legs were stuck in the actual fibers) and again when I got home and came to the realization that I had no cuts on my legs from branches! The pants dried quickly after they were wet from creek crossings and did not show sweat (well, none that I noticed anyway).
There was room in the waist and belt loops if needed. I am 5'7" and loved the length...covered the tops of my boots but didn't hit the ground.
The only negative is that I have bigger legs and the pants were a little snug where the zipper is that separates the pant leg from the short. It wasn't really a problem when I was hiking but when I was squatting or climbing, I could feel the restrictions against my thighs in that area. All you would have to do is one little squat in the fitting room at REI to see if this will be a problem for you :) I think for my next pair, I will just opt for a pair of pants that I can roll up instead of worrying about the zipper option to convert them into shorts. But, as I said earlier, I won't be spending money until I have to so these pants are working just perfectly for the time being!

So Comfortable
These pants are very comfortable. They are light, breathable, and they dry quickly. I don't know how I ever went hiking in jeans. I have yet to wear them as shorts, so I'm not sure how I feel about that. I don't wear shorts comfortably, so they will likely stay as pants.

Pocket Problems
These are going back... the material on the shorts part of the pant is like a yoga pant stretchy and comfy. But the material on the leg portion is a regular hiking pant. I just don't see those two fabrics wearing at the same rate - I feel like I'll have worn out pants on the top & new looking pants on the bottom.
But that's not why I'm sending them back - the leg pocket on these pants is completely nonfunctional. It's an inside pocket that goes in toward your knees. It's placed to low to access easily & the opening is too small to put my hand in - useless. The whole reason I want hiking pants is for the pockets. If I didn't want the pockets I'd just hike in yoga pants.

Comfy and good fit
These pants are really comfortable (stretch and soft fabric) and flattering on my boxy figure. I'm 5'3" and about 118 lbs and got a size 4, which fits great. Usually I wear a petite or short in pants, but this is just right on me.
The legs are not baggy like many similar pants, which makes them much easier to walk in and look better. You can cinch in the bottom of the legs to sit anywhere on your calf, which is a nice feature.
The zippers end/start in a spot that makes it a little hard for me to reattach the bottoms while wearing the pants but that's a minor problem for me.

Lightweigh and stretchy, good for 3 season hiking and activity.
These are my second pair of Saturday Trail pants and I love them. This pair are in the color Fossil, the creamy beige color of Chinos.
They are easy to launder. I always use cold water and do not dry in the dryer. A quick shake, hang them up and they are dry in no time. Good for travel as they wash and dry so fast, even by hand washing.
Because of the stretch to the fabric there is no discomfort at all when hiking, the pants just move with me.
The leg zipper is small and I don't feel it at all, not so with some OTHER brands, who seem to use a huge zipper that you can feel when walking. The legs zip off and on quickly and easily. The width at the hem is perfect in that the leg goes over my boots easily, yet they are no so wide that the pants flap about. There is also elastic and a cinch so you can fit to your own style.
The quality of these pants is excellent, and I order the same size throughout the Columbia range and find they almost always fit in exactly the same way. There was one exception, but that style of pants had no waistband, so they fit me differently.
I also ordered the color Gravel, but they were only 31 inseam, but the Columbia Service folk were great and another pair is on the way.
For lightweight, stretchy pants, for 3 season hiking, I have no reservations in recommending these pants.

Love the fit of these pants (once you get the right size)!
These are comfortable, light-weight and functional for the plus-size active woman. I love the fit - it is SO flattering. However, be sure to order a size up. They also seem to be of high quality. I ordered three other types of pants and these were by far the most comfortable and most functional. Great for spring, summer and early fall hikes! The only thing that annoys me is that the plus size is sooo much more expensive than the regular sizes...why?

I'm happy with them.
These are great hiking pants. They have a fairly slim leg, so they avoid the balloony look I often notice in hiking pants, especially the convertible ones. They're lightweight, dry very quickly--I once had them stuffed into a rubber boot filled with creek water for an extended period of time during an ill-fated canoe excursion, and they dried out afterward in about 10 minutes. The only thing I don't like about them is that you have to take your shoes off to remove the pant leg. It's annoying, but I guess that's the price of avoiding the balloon-leg effect.
Sizing note: I'm 5'4", ~130 lbs., and usually wear a 6 pant size. I tried these in a 6 and an 8. Both fit, but I decided to go with the 8 so I could layer underneath it in colder weather.

super comfy!
I love these pants! The material is so soft it feels like I am wearing sweatpants! I do agree with the other review about the zip off seam is tight when sitting or bending but it does not bother me so much that I would return them.
I usually wear a petite or short length in pants (I am 5'2") but these are regulars and have some extra fabric but are not too bothersome for me. The straight cut of the leg is a nice change from the usual hiking pant that is wider.

Ill fitting
I really liked the material and the overall fit of the pant except for one major problem. The seam for the zipper that attaches the bottom leg to the top was non- stretch causing the pant to be too tight with any climbing motion. It was unfortunate since I really liked the style but ending up returning the pants because that area just wouldn't stretch to accomodate movement.
