Women’s Storm Surge™ Rain Pant - Plus Size is rated out of 5 by 26.
Rated 4 out of 5 by momboqueen from Not a fashion trend You need to size up on these pants. Even though they run large, the material does not give. You need that extra room to sit comfortably. They have a drawstring at the waist to cinch up. The legs are very large, but you need it in the thighs when you sit. The ankles are very very large. I suppose they did this so that you could take it off without removing your shoes. They are also very long on me. The velcro at the ankle is no help. I am going to put on more velcro so that I can cinch them tighter. I may hem them too. In conclusion, they are waterproof and since I will be using these to be out in the rain I don't care about the baggy look.

Rated 5 out of 5 by KelcyErin from Shell Pants Love the length of how high I can pull them up. Perfect for in the snow which is what I use them for. The side panel at the bottom is really helpful to get over boots. Drag string at the waist is a good feature. A little tight in the thighs when I’ve got all my layers on but I can still move around in them with no problem. Overall very happy with them. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by GardenWolf from Keeping dry is great. No more rain dripping into my boots! Yes, they do run large, and are a bit noisy, but I got them for gardening in the rain and keeping up with the snowy grandkids, so they are perfect. Wide leg at hem with velcro to fit over rain boots, small key pocket. No frills. I can wear regular pants under them, or fleece, not just leggings. Sturdy stitching. I will get a smaller size for wearing with leggings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SurferMellie from Keeps you dry but no stretch Bought this for my future Alaska trip and tried it out on a rainy/flooding day. Pants worked great! I stayed dry and they did exactly what they are meant to do. I do recomnd these pants and would buy them again... but they have some flaws. Beware of size. After reading the reviews I went with a size larger. The pants have zero stretch which makes the thighs and seat very cumbersome. Trying to put these on over jeans may be difficult unless you size up. I also think they would not fit my thighs had I not of sized up. They do have a drawstring band but it is not very good, comes undone easly, and is flimsy. The ankles have velcro to fasten but are gigantic when tightened leaving them to drag on the floor. I will be making some modifications with more Velcro on the ankles and snaps on the waist to keep them up. As a plus size person, there are not many options for rain pants. These are one of the few I found and I like them for emergency rain situations while hiking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Breengirly from Iceland Survival Pants Bought this pant to go behind waterfalls in Iceland. These pants came in handy for four days of rain and adventures by waterfalls. They also kept me warm and protected from the brutal winds. The pants are light in weight and fold quite well to not take up space or weight in suitcase. I did find the pants to be a bit too long. However, so not to trip over them I folded them up. Because of the hem cuff closure at bottom, I didn’t hem them up shorter. This pant would be great to watch football games in bleachers or sidelines. Or any other sports event to protect from inclement weather. Well worth the money I spent on them.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Katie37 from Not comfortable...find something else I just got these and only tried them on. They have zero movement in them. It wasn't even comfortable to sit in them. They were much too tight on my hips where I find other pants from Columbia are very forgiving. I'm definitely returning these.

Rated 4 out of 5 by SMSullivan from Stayed dry in a downpour I purchased these pants along with a jacket for my morning walks. I was caught in a downpour one morning and came home soaked to the core. After getting dry, I immediately ordered these two items. The jacket and pants work great together. I have used them twice during a heavy rain and have stayed very dry. The pants fit true to size, and having the closure on the bottom of the legs works to keep even the tops of your shoes dry. They are a bit long but the closure also helps with that. They make a bit of noise when you walk but nothing you don't notice after a short while. I purchased a size larger then what I am to fit over clothing and it works nicely.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Debby2 from Fits a Little Large This product is excellent quality and fits a little large which is great because you can fit leggings or skinny jeans underneath for insulation. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by Offshore from Unbelievably lightweight rainproof fabric Purchased these rain paints as I wanted a lightweight rain pant. Really had doubts as to the waterproof claim. Pleasantly surprised to learn that these pants are waterproof and breathable! Used them while sailing in a rain storm! Only concern is the seat was slippery when sitting in the wet cockpit area of the boat. The plus size runs small and was pleased with buying one size up. Have the matching jacket also. The jacket plus size also runs small and I bought one size up. Jacket was truly waterproof too. Only disappointment with jacket is the hood has no drawstring. Even in only a slight breeze cannot keep the hood on head. The jacket would be even better it if had a two-way zipper for truly active people.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Outdoorsylady from Good product These pants performed well during a week-long rafting trip through the Grand Canyon. I bought them a size larger so they would be easy to put on and take off over other clothes. It would have been nice if I could have cinched them tighter on the ankles. I moved the hook and loop closure, but they were still loose. I did get wet during a couple of the biggest rapids, but it was probably due to water getting in through the bottom or top of the pants, not through the fabric. I got doused with gallons of water at a time, so I was not surprised to get wet. I think they would do really well in a typical rain shower. I really appreciate being able to purchase quality outdoor wear in plus sizes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by botanist84 from Good rain pants but wish they were longer I'm a biologist and I'm expected to work in all kinds of weather conditions, and in northern Alberta, it rains often in the summer. These pants worked well and kept me dry, and they are flexible enough to climb over deadfall and other forest debris. However, I am tall (6 ft) and these pants are not quite long enough for me. I put them over my rubber boots, so it was fine wearing them that way, but if I were to wear them with my hiking boots, about 2 inches of my pants underneath would be exposed. I wish Columbia made these in a tall length because otherwise these would be perfect. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 2 out of 5 by Jennnn from Fit is bizarre!! As with other reviewers, I found the waist to snug and the legs to be HUGE!!! Not quite sure why it is so difficult to understand that larger women do not have 8 inch wide ankles. The material seems nice quality, but would trip over the legs if I wore them. Ended up finding really nice fleece lined waterproof pants on Amazon.

Rated 2 out of 5 by LeeLee4433 from Too small Too small in the hip area. Such a shame these didn't fit. I ordered my normal size, and they fit everywhere except in the hips. Unfortunately I had to send them back.

Rated 2 out of 5 by KJ44 from Too wide below the knee I was looking for some rain pants to use in the summer, but also pants that could be worn over either long underwear or fleece bottoms in the winter for more active snow activities (I’d overheat in my heavier skiing pants). These pants were the right thickness, but they left no room above the knee for underlayers and were a little more restrictive than I had in mind. However, the portion of the pants below the knee is crazy wide (think huge bell bottoms wide). I was also disappointed there were no pockets. I love Columbia clothing, but these pants are going back and my search continues.

Rated 2 out of 5 by JenB from Wanted to like these pants,but...... These rain pants fit great and quality seems good. But I took them out into the drizzle today for an hour and 20 minute walk with the dog,on pavement, and had a wet bum, thighs and knees. And it was only drizzling out,not raining heavily. I was so excited to get these, hoping for something that I could walk the dog in the rain in,or work outside in the rain, and am quite disappointed that these waterproof/ breathable pants just aren't waterproof or breathable. And it's not like there's many options for performance outerwear for plus size women (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by Belizard from Seattle Outdoor Preschool Proof I am an outdoor preschool teacher in Seattle, and am out in the elements for 6-10 hours a day with a batch of 3-5 year olds. This was the first pair of rain pants that I purchased, and I loved them! They keep up with the weather, I've stayed totally dry, even on our wettest days. I've since gone and purchased a second pair, and alternate between the two.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Vwatson from Leg width The size is great I can wear the rain pants over everything. There is one problem, the leg width is stupidly cut. The legs are very wide and not tapered. The look and feel like someone just cut them down the middle and sewed in a seam. They are as wide at the ankle as they are in the waist.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Oahugirl from Columbia does curvy girls justice It's tough to find active wear for curvy girls and Columbia Sportswear provides great gear. I wore these pants rafting in Alaska and they kept me dry. Not one drop of water made it through.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BayAReaGal from Perfect rain pants Purchased these pants for a trip. They are excellent quality and nice style- they don't look like a trash bag. Sadly, they didn't arrive in time for my departure (this was my fault) so I ended up not using them, but they were the best rain pants in terms of style and quality that I tried. Would purchase again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ann141414 from Well made rain pants Love these pants - but please watch the size. I always order size 3x but these were more like a 1x. Pants were lovely, well made, and i was disappointed I had to return them. Great buy - but buy at least a size bigger that you usually wear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MaggieL from Heavy duty rain pants These were too large for me. I didn't reorder in a smaller size because they were too heavy duty for my use. They would keep you very dry.

Rated 4 out of 5 by pickles from Quality product I purchased these to wear on excursions for our upcoming Alaskan cruise. They are a smidge bigger than expected but considering I purchased them to layer with leggings, this works well for me. They're roomy and comfortable. I'm 5'7" and they're a bit long for me but nothing I can't work with. I'll update the review after I use them.
