Women's Whirlibird™ III Interchange Jacket - Plus Size is rated out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by gatormom05 from Plus Sizes Run Large I ordered the 2X based on my hip size (50') and this jacket is very large. Even with layers and ski pants it is too big. A 1X probably would have fit better and still had plenty of room to move.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RMT0210 from wonderful coat I ordered size larger because I like a loose fit. Very happy with all aspects of this coat. Hasn't been cold enough to wear but I'm looking forward to it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Aurora6400 from New and improved but feels small Three years ago in 2015, I purchased a previous version of the women's plus size Whirlibird jacket in the Hyper Purple Plaid Print size 3X. I purchased this year's Whirlibird III jacket in the Dark Plum Crossdye size 3X. While the design of the new Whirlibird III jacket appears to address some of the issues with the model from 3 years ago, this year's model seems to run slightly smaller. I ordered the same size as my old Whirlibird jacket, and this one seems to be less roomy around my hips. If I lay the two jackets on top of one another, they look like they are about the same size, but the new version seems to be slightly more fitted through the torso and has waist/princess seams on the back. The difference in the fit around the hips appears to be because the entire jacket is 1-2 inches longer, and the zip out interchange liner seems to be about half an inch longer and slightly thicker and puffier. It would be great if Columbia would increase the sizing on their jackets, or make a size 4X since a lot of us like to wear bulky sweaters in winter. A major issue I had with the 2015 Whirlibird jacket was the material. It did not hold up to abrasions very well, and my old jacket has many places where the purple color has rubbed off and the material has a lot of snags. The Whirlibird III Dark Plum Crossdye material is less shiny and the texture feels very different, so I am hoping it will hold up better. The 2015 Whirlibird hood was detachable and held on with a zipper and velcro. I had issues with the hood constantly coming unzipped, and eventually the zipper began to tear out of the coat. This year's Whirlibird III has a permanent hood. The 2015 Whirlibird jacket zipper had a waterproof rubber coating on it and very tiny teeth, and was always hard to zip. The old Whirlibird zipper got stuck a lot and eventually starting popping apart when I moved around due to the tiny teeth wearing out. The new Whirlibird III jacket has a more standard Columbia zipper with larger teeth and an extra fabric flap and velcro to keep out the snow. I like the new zipper much better as it is similar to the zipper on other Columbia coats I have had. The front pocket on the Whirlibird III still has the rubberized zipper, but hopefully this won't be a problem since it is just on the pocket. There are also plenty of pockets throughout both the outer shell and interchange liner. The pockets on the Whirlibird III interchange liner even have zippers, which is an improvement over my old jacket. The quilting on the Whirlibird III interchange liner has a diagonal pattern that is much more flattering than the straight across quilting on my old Whirlibird jacket. It would be helpful if Columbia would provide pictures/instructions on how to use the powder skirt. Overall, this is a good jacket and I'm looking forward to wearing it when the weather gets colder.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Andemarie from Perfect This coat is a perfect fit! So nice to get a plus size coat that actually feels comfortable. Plenty of movement but still cozy! Even with the zip out liner on, I feel comfy. The length is just perfect; falls at the hip. I got the plum color..beautiful! Columbia definitely equals quality!
